niyivstheworld: Just that you would like to go to Technical University Berlin. NOt sure of the course there but i think for winter this year you may be able to make it depending on the school, thats if you will pass out of NYSC first or second week in October. Some schools have enrollment till late october/early november. You can check uni of stuttgart, Cologne uni of appliced sciences. The have both summer and winter semester master programs , in information systems and computer science line. Programs are in English. |

hyfr: I do not think going for a studienkolleg is really that cheap. i am not very sure because i did not apply to them, but most i have seen are not tuition free, you have to pay fees as well as having your blocked. As for the goethe institute, you do not have to learn german there, you can learn in smaller cities and towns and just register to write the german exams in goethe. that might be cheaper, but it might take you approximately two years for you to attain sufficient level of german to study in a studienkolleg and get a B2 which most of them require. If you ask me, you A-level or first year university degree will be a cheaper option. You can also check unilag a-level program which they call diploma, its about 300k a year, it is done in conjunction with university of lancashire and uni of birmingham. If the UK accredits it, then i am sure it will be in germany, that one is less complicated to enter unlike jamb and is not affected by ASUU or all other factors that affect naija uni. you can even learn german part time while you are at it. there are smaller german schools around (yaba environs that is). You can arrange to get a place on campus if you are admitted in the unilag program and in one year you can get admission into a german uni with you 'good result', maybe an english speaking program, your little german knowledge and less expenditure. by the way- confirm that unilag still runs this program. 1 Like |

Hello House, I guess i might be the first to give good news on the part two of this thread. I got mail from the embassy about three weeks ago to come with my passport and three month health insurance, even before i funded my account which was quite surprising. I still funded anyway. I picked up my visa this week. Germany here I come, that first class grade is mine, it's high time!!! Thanks to all who helped my journey especially Kelly4top, Eke40seven, Damsamty16 and all others too numerous to mention. God bless you! honourableseyi, you are next!!! dantaynya: What course does she intend to study for her MSc. There are a whole bunch of courses in English for masters program, far more than BSc courses. Getting a masters is hard enough if she can learn in English why complicate it more in German? (she will still learn the language anyway) and she has a lot more options in the Winter semester as it is late to apply for summer courses. if you ask me, i think she should apply for english taught program in the winter semester(she was hoping to start her masters in the winter anyway) Is her Masters course completely different from what she studied for Bachelors? 8-9months is quite a short time to learn german from scratch to masters level. even in english most cut off for Bsc is 60-80 while for masters its 80-100/110. Expectations are much higher for masters level. the same will apply for german.these could be other reasons why they doubt her going to study. Unless you have a very strong case appeal may not come out positive. Just my thoughts...Goodluck! |

krizhk: I have no idea, I spoke to only one person. I was the second to be interviewed, he was first. He is a masters students going for a social science course, business management or admin or so. He was not given a test, but he had a long interview. I was given physics test. I noticed the tests are already prepared, the lady just picks maths or physics at her discretion. |

esdajo: Went very well thanks! Spent a lot of time there though. 12 of us for student interview. Was given physics test, was not difficult at all, basics. Asked about Germany, States and capital, which I did not know all (would be crazy to know all states and capitals) the lady laughed and said it was fine, told me to name the few I knew. She ran a background check on all my schools, pri, sec, uni, which I am currently. Asked why I was leaving my uni in naija and change in course. My course content as well. A little bit of my interview was in German, after she saw i have an a2 cert. I was sent a mail to an hour after my interview to fund my account. 3 Likes |

hollaytan: If you graduated from a university and not polytechnic in Nigeria, Then you have a very good chance in Oldenburg, it's a good uni and well ranked too. I hope you sent certified copies of your docs, your CV and a good letter of motivation. you should be fine. For the others I have no idea, never applied to them. 1 Like |

crowns2: Different factors could cause your rejection. They give admission in order of ranking of the applicants. So you may not have a bad results or qualification but some people might have ranked higher than you. 1. What did you graduate with from your HND, your grade when converted. Grades in related subjects 2. Using two WAEC results may not be an issue but rather your grades in the subject are more important. e.g. Having B3 or better in Mathematics (That is just an example) 3. Those who has A1 german certificate or higher were upgraded by 0,2 4. Having a detailed CV gives you some points 5. Toefl iBT score should be higher than 70 Forgive the double posts, my phone was being silly |

madridista01:You seem to know everything, why then are you asking many questions when it seems you have already decided what you want to do. Please your repeated questions and arguments is making the thread grow longer very fast and will make it exhausting for people looking for information to read. You have been told, you cannot certify by proxy. If you want a seal go by yourself to the German embassy or use a notary public. It is also possible to get a deal from the high court. If you insists on your dodgy way, go ahead and try hopefully we can learn from you that is if you will give feedback. Till then let's have some peace. Ask other questions that will be beneficial. Thank you. Please note not all schools want certified documents. 1 Like |

solidman59:That's not true, you want someone to respond to you not necessarily someone from Germany, dont pretend!. The information you require is either on the thread or on the daad.de site. More important is the course you want to study before the 'nice' city. you want english taught as well which narrows your selection to a handful. So you berra go and do your research instead of waiting for people in Germany to respond. I believe the family on this thread are waiting for them to share their experiences in school, their courses and the respective cities, not helping you look for a school that you can find on daad. Thank you. |

adenjnr:This is not always the case in every uni in nigeria. I would advise you check your course registration slip. The units differ in some semesters. You can have 18, 21, 24 or 30. So depending on your course and uni you might end up with 180, 210 or 240. So confirm from your school. My 2 cowries |

exboyega:She cannot get admission with just her waec/neco. She would A/level or at least a completely first year in a Nigerian university. Well I am not too sure about ND cert, so I can't say, she can maybe try. She might be considered. Some schools are more lenient that others depending on what she wants to study. Her first year has to be good and relevant because they convert it to their german grading system. As for toefl or ielts, it also depends on the school as well, some schools may wave it, for some they would not compromise and some would only wave if she has nothing less than a C4 in her waec. Hope this helps! |
Celebrities / Re: Famous Nigerian Women Who Prefer Their Natural Hair To Brazilian Hair (Photos) by naijadove: 8:47am On Nov 24, 2014 |
Where is Chimananda Adichie in all of this? Please stop showing people with low cut, they do not prefer any hair at all. Natural, Permed or extensions. They just do not want hair. Keeping short hair does not mean it is in its natural state. Some of them still have it permed or texturised. Show us women who have grown their hair in it's natural african nature. E.g Chimamanda Adichie as i have indicated before. |

mariz2323: Arik does not fly to Germany. You can use Air france, Lufthansa, KLM, BA, Turkish airlines, Iberia, Emirates, Etihad (These are the ones i am sure of) Some of these airlines may not have flights to certain parts of Germany. Lufthansa has the most flights around Germany but you may find it expensive unless you fly during low peak period. If you are flying to major cities like Berlin, Dusseldorf, Munich, Hamburg, etc you will find more flight options than if you were going directly to bremen, stuggart etc or a smaller town. 1 Like |

beebee5000: Thanks for the info, however, he needs to know all it takes, he is currently taking german classes here, he does know that he can't study medicine in english. what i would like to clarify is if he has to have a first degree or a studienkolleg will do. what is the process for a studienkolleg. in the uk, medical students first get a degree before proceeding to medical school. thanks |
Travel / Re: German Embassy And Visa by naijadove: 7:11am On Nov 15, 2014 |
Is there any medical student here or anyone applying for medicine in Germany. My friend needs some clarifications. Do you get a first degree before going to medical school? Or you can start medicine straight up? Daad is not so clear on this. And one can't really find medicine straight up as a course, rather you find variations. Please anyone with knowledge should fill me in, thanks! |

Veryplain:There are different possibities for her rejection. From what i see, she has a degree already right? and she is going for a bsc, is she working right now? Are the courses related, would it add any value to her career? they could be wondering why not a masters degree instead of a degree. It could be she was not very convincing enough when she was having her interview with the lady at the embassy. It could also be she didn't have sufficient information of the course, maybe the school or the location she hopes to study. So they might wonder why you will be going to a palce and know nothing about it. i dunno these are just possibilities... 1 Like 1 Share |

Horatio27: There is also tuhh for general engineering science, uni of oldenburg for engineering physics, aachen for physical engineering, ravensburg for electrical engineering, aachen for engineering and technology, mannheim for power engineering etc Just use daad.de and put in your specifications, you should get info. there are also options for those who are social sciences field. Apart from Rhine waal, all others university will teach in german at some point. Like seriously it's tuition free the least you can do is learn german, you will need it regardless in germany. Unless you are bent on not learning german spending a whole year in germany you should learn a significant amount of german especially if you are studying in a small town. Please note, some of the universities with english taught courses require toefl or ielts even if your entire education has been in English. 2 Likes 1 Share |
