windywendy:
@Naijadr, sorry I had to log off yesterday, been very busy.

@CrazyT (I can't believe you've been holding cash for 2wks shocked shocked) and Naijadr:
For this week, my cico recommendations are: niwicable (both cico and medium term) neimeth (terrible fundamentals, but i'm in for a quick 10-15% and will only hold for a few days), may&baker (not-so-good fundamentals, but could also make the quick 10 - 15%). Of course Monday or today would have been the best entry points but that depends on your return objectives. Bigtreat is also beginning to look like a good cico candidate.

For the medium term, I would target stocks like STD. Insure (which I already own) -- it should be off TS by the time most insurance stocks are at year highs. The company has diverse revenue streams and has been growing topline, bottomline and margins (esp.) at an impressive rate. Forward PE based on a projected PAT of 600m -- which I believe is very conservative -- is 27. The only caveat is that the company has convertible preferred shares, though i'm not sure if the investors in those shares have converted and sold already. ABC Transport is also good for the medium term, though if I were to hold it for that long, I won't hold beyond the end of May or early June, which historically has been the time around which the stock experienced its highs. For the long term, a lot of those bank stocks (FCMB, Oceanic, UBA) are good. Some PPs are also worth looking at for LT investing.

Of course, all the caveat types apply. cheesy
Ah thanks o!! I'm really interested in NIWICABLE for medium term, after your previous dissection on it here, and I was tryin to pick up a good insurance stock for med term, as well as get some Oceanic now as well. I figure I'll wait prob till about june to accumulate Oceanic for example.
My broker should have got ABC for me already, and I'll watch it and see month of march, thanks for the heads up on its historical trend.
For Big Treat, do u think it'll get lower than N10?
Thanks again, very much appreciated

windywendy:
Yes o, you should be able to squeeze 15% out of ABC very easily. I was able to get more than that on Josbrew, which I bought and sold quite quickly. Those ones dey highly risky so me no dey recommend those kind of moves o. ABC is good sha.

The little pumpkin is doing great. She's not walking yet (haba, were you walking at 6mths shocked shocked) but she's babbling a lot (yabber jabber doo cheesy). With the bright eyes and breath-taking smile, it's all simply amazing! Plus there's two cute little teeth showing up in front of the gums (looks like those teeth come in twos) cheesy By the way, what branch of medicine do you practice?
windywendy:
@Naijadr, I think I might have some ideas on your 2mil question. But it depends on what your objectives are and what time frame you're lookin' at. So what are your objectives and what timeframe do you have in mind?
Haha I couldnt remember again if u had her already when I was an invisible reader over the summer, so thought she was about 10mths sef grin So at 6mths, at least she's sitting up, and getting ready for her speed crawling days. I was walking and still breastfeeding at 7mths, so it wasnt a pretty sight for my mum, cause she had to always explain that I was still only 7mths old, and not an overgrown grown baby, cause now i had legs to chase for my food! How do u do it? my cousin that is about to deliver is taking a yr off work, makes u miss Naija and the "benefits" we miss out in this westernized parts of the world!

My N2mil is more for CICO and maybe medium term, so anywhere from 0 to 9mths time frame is good with me, not using the money for anything, but it'll be good to have some good profit money by Dec. Thanks so much smiley

Actually I need to put a caveat here o. I didn't actually recommend ABC, it was a cico stock for me based on several reasons. But I think I might hold it for more than just a few days, at least until it meets my objectives.
Yeah my objective there is 15%, maybe 20% or so, I might be out in a week or so, thanks much for the "caveat empty grin"

LOL!!! grin That's the name of the game now o. tongue But I've recommended the stocks on the forum before na. They're livestock feeds (which I sold already) and ABC Transport.
Haha I know oh, I had even issued for broker to purchase ABC today sef(trying to get 15% out of it), just was amused at the coded #s. Hope your lil girl is doing lovely, is she walking yet?

@Naijadr, If I were you, I'd give me that N2m make I carry go Cozumel make wifey dey pour hot sand for my back for pristine beacd. Abi how you take see am now? grin
so after wifey don appreciate u, if u fit give me at least 25% on top by march end, then no qualms, bank transfer grin

FROM UBA GLobal Market

FCMB: Analysis of 9M08 results

FCMB maintains triple digit growth in operational performance. The Bank’s 9M result shows a 104.4% YoY growth in gross earnings to N35.8bn, whilst growing profit before tax (PBT) and profit after tax (PAT) by 153.7% to N11.24bn and N8.99bn respectively. Consequently, 9M earnings per share increased to N0.94 from N0.34 recorded in the corresponding period to Jan. ’07.

Stronger QoQ growth in key parameters… Breakdown of results shows that revenues and net profits of N13.99bn and N3.65bn respectively were recorded during Q3 (Nov.’07-Jan. ’08) compared with Q2 revenues of N11.97bn and net profit of N2.69bn. The 35.8% QoQ growth in net profit was driven by the Bank’s growing access to the retail market. FCMB recently launched diverse consumer products aimed at facilitating home ownership, acquisition of shares and purchase of household goods.

… and management efficiency improves. Due to the increase in the contribution from high margin loans & advances, net profit margins improved to 26% (YoY) from 20.2% recorded in Jan ’07. We expect margins to improve further as the company attracts further cheap deposits from its branches spread across the geopolitical zones in Nigeria. FCMB plans to increase its current 135 branches to 155 while emphasizing direct sales to its rapidly growing client base through the deployment of an additional 100 ATMs in 2008. This is part of its strategy to enhance liability generation whilst keeping cost to income ratio at reasonable levels,

Partnering with Sabre Capital for consumer banking. Guided by its vision and understanding of the untapped potential in Nigeria’s retail market, FCMB’s management expects consumer banking to account for 50% of earnings in future. This suggests that the bank intends to grow this line of business aggressively while maintaining its strong market position in investment banking.

FCMB’s valuation suggests a discount at current market price. We valued the Bank on the basis of price multiples. The Bank currently trades at forward P/E and P/B multiples of 20.6x and 3.1x. Compared with peer forward P/E and P/B multiples of 23.4x and 3.3x, FCMB could represent a Buy for medium and long term investors.

For Costain folks, awon RoughCut & co, it appears that we've hit a stand still there, notice some resistance, exhausted buyers, very low vol being traded now. Folks appear to be holding on now, maybe waiting for the trigger towards release of FY results. I don't see much rapid advancement, might not hit N50 till maybe mid March, we prob bounce around the N45-48 mark for at least the next week or 2 even.

Anyone else notice Nig-German today, it finally broke past N28 again today ending at N28.66, it hasnt done that since early Jan, very small vol but the RSI looks just right, and I see it inching gradually, it might hit the all high N30 mark by Thursday. This company appears to move in spurts of every 3mths or so.

Dunlop is on the rise due to its low nominal price. thankfully I sold CILeasing after a 52% gain in 6 weeks and hoped on its train, I bought a very small quantity last week (at N5), and have gained about 9% after fees already, closed at N5.66 today. It looks poised to reach N6 by Friday as there doesnt appear to be a shortage of buyers. Today had the most # of buyers since the run 1st week of Feb. Short termers should prob try to get out before it gets to N8 because those who bought end of Jan at around N4 or below will def be cashing out.

All my opinion, and yes I have all 3.

As expected, COSTAIN drops to N43.95, due to profit taking
NIG-German did as expected, has crossed the N30 mark, breaking its previous highest, ending at N30.09
Dunlop continues its rise, closing today at N5.79, looking to reach that N6 by Friday
So all 3 went as expected
As crazy as the NSE is, I think I'm finally learning small small from here how to predict and speculate, thanks guys fundamentalists and TAists!
Naijadr:
cashcraft and gti have same prices
The trend continues, COSTAIN closed at N44
NIG-German closed at N31.59, another high, its on the move, could be enough gas to take it to N40 shocked
Dunlop continues the rise closing at N6.07 so its crossed over the mark!
The cycle continues
COSTAIN closes at N46.20
DUNLOP at N6.12
NIG-German at N30.03
I expect the trend to continue next week, all 3 will have a bullish monday but Costain will maintain same range rest of the week, there is still enough sentiment to push Dunlop to N7 and NIG-German (I'm not quite sure whats pushing the price up since vol is normal) so it might just hover between N28-N32 for next week, unless there is a rumour I'm unaware of.

@RoughCut thanks, I thought about that, prob best for me to wait for a min, want short term, my long term is already full, UBA o undecided
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by Naijadr: 12:11pm On Feb 29, 2008
I think though that its good if you can guarantee that the price gain post TS will be worth it. If we are talking like 120% post TS like COSTAIN or something then thats fine waiting the 2-3mths, but if we are talking 25% gain, it just might not be worth it.

@RoughCut, I'm even thinking of getting some JaPaul which I think might still climb due to sentiments. What do u think?

I'm sure anyone who has been following the stock agrees medium-long term it is the Real McCoy. If there are signals that peeps are taking profit in the short-term by all means join the party and do a partial CICO/RO-RO.

Going forward it would make anybody's portfolio medium-long term it has made mine.

I read the PO brochure again and i was impressed with the projections for '08 and 09 very bullish indeed so hopefully they get there!

If you want to take profit i'm planning to by the way now that will be blood money!go on soun but it has just made my long-term protfolio.
