Politics / Re: RE: A More ABSOLUTELY Convincing Evidence To Show Gowon Released Chief Awolowo by naijaking1: 12:00pm On Nov 29, 2019
LegendHero:

This was Gowon saying he released Awolowo when he visited Awo’s wife in Ikenne.

https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/191679-why-i-released-awolowo-from-prison-gowon.html

Do you think Gowon is stupid to lie in the front of Mrs. Awolowo about releasing her husband?

Mind you this is the last time I will respond to you. I don’t spoon feed adult.

You're a big time victim of Ojukwu/Gowon publicity b.s
Facing facts here, ask yourself why Awolowo was purportedly released from "Ikoyi prison' in camera while he was actually held in Calabar?
Did Gowon have control of federal facilities in the east at the end of July 1966.
When Awolowo petitioned Ironsi in July 1966, it set off a frenzy between Ojukwu and Gowon about who would get credit for releasing him. Ojukwu released Awo at the end of July, but it took a few days for Awo to get to Ikenne, and then Lagos where Gowon staged the publicity stunt of the release on camera.
Awolowo was not the only federal prisoner released by Ojukwu.
Ever wondered why Awolowo never addressed the release issue openly when he was alive?

Ojukwu Released Awolowo From Calabar Jail,QED:”I released Awolowo from jail. Even that, some people are beginning to contest as well. Awo was in jail in Calabar. Gowon knows and the whole of the federal establishment knows that at no point was Gowon in charge of the East..”–Odumegwu Ojukwu

New York[RR] Awka–In this interview with Rudolf Okonkwo, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu categorically said that he released Awolowo from Calabar prison, he added, that Gowon and all federal establishment knows that Gowon was at no time in charge of the East, Republic Reporters gathered.

Mr. Okonkwo troubled by multiple argument font and back with S’West and East, pointedly asked Ojukwu whether there was a meeting, “Did the meeting take place, and was there such an agreement?’. Ojukwu response was that, he indeed released Awolowo from Calabar Prison house.

Hear Ojukwu speak for himself:
“We’ve said this over and over again, so many times, and people don’t understand; they don’t want to actually. If you remember, I released Awolowo from jail. Even that, some people are beginning to contest as well. Awo was in jail in Calabar. Gowon knows and the whole of the federal establishment knows that at no point was Gowon in charge of the East. The East took orders from me. Now, how could Gowon have released Awolowo who was in Calabar? Because of the fact that I released him, it created quite a lot of rapport between Awo and myself and I know that before he went back to Ikenne, I set up a hotline between Ikenne and my bedroom in Enugu. He tried like an elder statesman to find a solution. Awolowo is a funny one. Don’t forget that the political purpose of the coup, the Ifeajuna coup that began all this, was to hand power over to Awo. We young men respected him a great deal. He was a hero.

Ojukwu, added, “I thought he was a hero and certainly I received him when I was governor. We talked and he was very vehement when he saw our complaints and he said that if the Igbos were forced out by Nigeria that he would take the Yorubas out also. I don’t know what anybody makes of that statement but it is simple. Whether he did or didn’t, it is too late. There is nothing you can do about it. So, he said this and I must have made some appropriate responses too. But it didn’t quite work out the way that we both thought. Awolowo, evidently, had a constant review of the Yoruba situation and took different path. That’s it. I don’t blame him for it. I have never done. he said.

Thanks to God for ending the Nigerian Civil War and uniting Nigeria again. Kudos to the elders that saw to the peaceful resolution of Nigeria.
The South-East lost many or almost everything during the civil war: these include: education, businesses, career, wealth, people, peace and so on; but with perseverance, diligence, hardwork, dedication and so on, it is now one of the prosperous regions who have met up with the education, businesses, wealth, career and people in Nigeria. It is also doing well in other aspects of life. It is also an oviously rich region.

Thanks to God for such.

Lesson: Never give up, you can rise again.

Please tell us that you really don't know that one of the biggest frauds in Nigeria was reconstructing the west while the war damage was in the east!

This story is so weak, I can't imagine who's going to believe it. While unemployed northern politicians rally round a story purportedly pointing fingers at Igbos in the south east, they simply try to divert attention from what's really going on in the north. The story, of all it's catchy nature failed to reveal names. If an Igbo sounding name had been involved in any way at all, it would have made the NTA news for sure!!

Anyway, we know whose religion and cultures are children-unfriendly in Nigeria.
Ask the Fulani herdsmen recruiting potential criminals, ask the incorporated begging companies lining the streets of Onitsha with sympathetic looking children, or ask the Kaduna Almajiri torture houses:

https://thenationonlineng.net/how-i-founded-kaduna-house-of-horror/

t has been one month of bizarre discovery in Kaduna State, as three houses of torture operating under the guise of rehabilitation centres have been busted by the authorities. ABDULGAFAR ALABELEWE reports on the twists and turns of the incidents.

First, it was Sheikh Ahmad Bin Hambal Islamic School and Rehabilitation Centre in the heart of Rigasa, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State where about 300 chained inmates, including children, were rescued by the police. Three weeks later, Governor Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai led security operatives to bust another popular rehabilitation centre called Malam Niga Centre, where he freed 147 inmates.

The dust was yet to settle on the discovery of the two homes of horror when men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps also unraveled a decade-old torture chamber called a rehabilitation centre in Zaria, also in Kaduna State. Although they are slightly different in terms of ideology and structure, the three rehabilitation centres are not different in their outlooks as homes of alleged torture and sexual abuse where inmates are chained like animals.

Unlike the males only Sheikh Ahmad Bin Hambal Islamic School and Rehabilitation Centre in Kaduna and the one based in Zaria, Malam Niga Centre kept 147 inmates of both genders under alleged dehumanising conditions as inmates were allegedly raped on a daily basis.

In separate interviews with our correspondent, some of the rescued inmates narrated their ordeal, saying that, they were daily subjected to torture and sexual abuse but could not report to their unsuspecting parents who came on occasional visits.

One of them, Hauwa Muhammad, an indegene of Nasarawa State, who lived with her parents in Abuja before she was taken to Malam Niga Centre by her father 11 months ago because she was addicted to hard drugs, alleged that she was raped repeatedly by some men at the centre, including the son-in-law of the proprietor.

Hauwa said: “I was abused by a lot of boys. I was abused several times by the son in-law of Malam Niga, Hassan Sani Dauda. We told Malam what Hassan was doing to us but he refused to believe because Hassan is his daughter’s husband. And he even refused to investigate the allegation.

“For his sexual pleasure and desire, Hassan made us to make love with ourselves. I mean he subjected us to lesbianism and would watch us for his pleasure. And when we refused, he would hit us with the gora (big stick) in his hand. Look at my wrist, my hand is no longer straight, because he hit me with stick.

“It was not only me; he raped seven of us often. In fact, there was a girl he deflowered and raped through her anus.

Another inmate, Maryam Lawal, a 21-year-old indigene of Kaduna State, said she was molested, raped and beaten on a daily basis. “Hassan beat us, raped us and they made us inhale smoke that they called medicine. It is not medicine but mere punishment.

“On a few occasions, I almost passed out during the smoke inhalation process. My breath ceased. It was only God that helped me; I would have died. They would tell us that, we must not drink water until after 15 minutes of the inhalation process. We used to choke and gasp for air,” she said.

Someone is trying to shift blame and direction here:

https://www.news.com.au/world/africa/nigerian-police-rescue-300-men-and-boys-from-torture-house-thought-to-be-islamic-school/news-story/9e7196c157447fba8c05cfcae24401b0

Nigerian police say more than 300 men and boys have been rescued from a building thought to be an Islamic school where they were held against their will, sexually abused, starved and tortured.

Fox News reports, the rescue happened in the northern city of Kaduna. Reuters reported that most of the victims seen by a reporter were children, some in their late teens. One boy, holding a police officer’s hand as he wobbled unsteadily, had visible sores on his back, possibly the result of whipping.

The victims were kept in “the most debasing and inhuman conditions in the name of teaching them the Koran and reforming them”, Kaduna state police spokesman Yakubu Sabo told AFP.

“We found around 100 students including children as young as nine, in chains stuffed in a small room, all in the name of reforming them and making them responsible persons,” Sabo said.

The owner and six others who were said to be teachers have been arrested, he added.

Kaduna Police Chief Ali Janga told the BBC that police raided the building after a local tip. He described it as a “house of torture” and a place of slavery.

The building’s owner told police the children had been brought by their families to learn the Koran or because they had problems such as drug addiction. But police said the place was not licensed to run any reformatory or educational program.

The school had been operating for a decade.

Victims at the facility were found padlocked to car hubcaps and had their hands and feet chained. Others bore scars down their backs.

“The victims were abused. Some of them said they were sodomised by their teachers,” Sabo stated.

Police had been tipped off by complaints from local residents who became suspicious of what was happening inside the school.

During the raid on the school, police said they found a “torture chamber” where students were chained, hung and beaten.

Local police chief Ali Janga said that despite its claims to be an educational institution, the conditions proved that the facility was “neither a rehab (centre) or an Islamic school”.

Those held there “were used, dehumanised, you can see it yourself”, Janga said. Private Islamic schools are common in mainly Muslim northern Nigeria, where government services are often lacking.

‘Severe punishment’

One inmate quoted by Nigerian media described horrific conditions and treatment at the facility.

“I have spent three months here with chains on my legs,” 42-year-old Bello Hamza said, adding that he was meant to be in South Africa studying for his Masters degree.

“This is supposed to be an Islamic centre, but trying to run away from here attracts severe punishment; they tie people and hang them to the ceiling for that.”
