Politics / Re: Molue Banned From Lagos Island by Namiad(m): 8:25pm On Sep 05, 2013
Samoo01: ‘‘The state government said the decision was taken in its determination to ensure adequate monitoring of commuter bus operators as reagrds (sic) compliance with traffic rules and regulations.’’

So Lagos State needs to eradicate the remaining few dozens of 'Molue' that has been facing sustained attrition by Fashola's administration or the ‘‘adequate monitoring’’ of hundreds of thousands of vehicles plying Lagos roads daily will be in jeopardy? You can't make this stuff up.

Granted, ‘‘Molue’’ has become too haggard for this age and its carbon footprint being its Archiles heel, it, however, hasn't outlived its usefulness; the great unwashed still use the ugly Benz to commute themselves due to its affordability and uproariousity.

Why ban it from plying Iyana-Ipaja (the same road that heavy duty trucks ply) if it can ply Agege? And why did the reporter find it superfluous to get reactions from 'Molue' unionists?

I've never entered a 'Molue' before but I've been wondering how no one is upgrading this low budget means of transportation in an increasingly unaffordable Lagos.

The convoluted atmosphere that has become increasingly emblematic of Fashola's administration is the APC echo chamber cocooning.

Just when you think life can't get worse for Lagos proles, Fashola stifles it further with yet another Soviet-esque ukase.

As egregious as the PDP has been for us, Fashola's Lagos is a forlorn harbinger of what Nigerians will go through should APC get the mandate to man Aso-Rock. Alas, there's no alternative to PDP and APC. Nigerians are in for a bumpy ride. Pathetic, really.

thanks bro for that wonderful question, no offence to the OP but undergraduates and graduates of the so called private universities always think high of themselves above their contemporaries in state or federal universities probably because they paid exorbitant fees to get admission withou necessarily going through the rigors of writing jamb, post ume and enduring the nonchalant attitude of some staffs of govt schools. Bottom line is, u guys have not tasted the bitter side of university life which is occassioned by constant struggle for survival resulting to a complete individual. Private Universities are business establishments, take it or leave it.

Religion / Re: ''born Again'' -what Did Jesus Mean? by Namiad(m): 2:54pm On Jul 21, 2013
Monimatic: To be born again you must"confess
with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and
believe in your heart that God raised
him from the dead, you will be
saved. For it is with your heart that
you believe and are justified, and it
is with your mouth that you confess
and are saved." Romans 10:9-10.
After Adam and Eve disobeyed God, man became a corrupted being and lost his righteousness with God, so every. one born into this world, whether young or old, man or woman, boy or girl is born with nature of sin and corruption which was as a result of Adam and Eve disobiedence, and they were sent out of the garden of Eden because they have lost their righteousness. and have being corrupted with sin.
Please note, righteousness is not forming HOLY HOLY, or be trying to be sin conscious, thaat is the misconception millions of christian have worldwide, many churches and pastors still don't understand righteousness.
RIGHTEOUSNESS is the life of God in the human life, and that life is in his son Jesus Christ, you only get that life and become righteous by confessing Jesus Christ as Lord over your life and believing in your heart that he is the son of God and he died, resurrected and he is sitted at the right hand side of God.
Like I said above by virtue of Adam and Eve disobedience in the garden of Eden, man automatically lost his righteousness with God and carried on a nature of sin, untill you act on Romans 10 vs 9-10, you are not saved yet.
Being born again is different from forgiveness of sin, if you ask for forgiveness of sin and not yet born, then you are not yet saved, many christians, churches and pastors still confuse the concept of FORGIVENESS OF SIN with the concept of BEING BORN AGAIN,do a comprehensive BIBLE STUDY on these two concepts and you will see they are different.
The death of Jesus,,was a means to an end, the kingdom of God is the end it self, by being born again, you become initiated and a citizen of the kingdom of God.
BEING BORN AGAIN, IS YOUR VISA TO ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
All you do is confess Romans 10 vs 9-10, confess it loud by personalizing it to your self and believing it whole heartedly.
Still in Church(Christ Embassy), see u guys later?
i just knew u were frm christ embassy..that was great..am from christ embssy too.

Logicboy03: I dont pray. Prayer doesnt work. If it did, Nigeria would have been a better place by now. Think of all the christians that died from Boko Haram while praying in church. Think of the unnecesssary deaths caused by bad roads in Nigeria. Think of the salaries not paid by corrupt leaders.

Prayers do not work.

You wanna compare earnings? Fine. Apple earned over $41 billion dollars for the FY ended September 2012 (Source). A company still earns more than our country. So what's your point?[/quote]
mehn!.how can you compare apple to Nigeria?i gikwa ahu?...on what basis?
Politics / Re: FG Earned N5 Trillion From Taxes In 2012 – FIRS by Namiad(m): 11:20am On Jan 28, 2013
HNosegbe: My comments:

1. N5trillion is about $33billion, about 8% of the value of Apple. It's chicken change, really, for a country of 160-odd million people.

2. There is need for the Federal Government to explain to us the rationale for further borrowing when its revenue targets are being exceeded.

3. If the FG can raise such monies from taxes, what are the states doing?

4. The government should extend the tax net to cover "luxury" items such as private jets, yachts, mansions and other items of ostentation purchased by the elites. There's no reason we shouldn't slam a 40% tax rate on private jet purchases by our politicians, businessmen and pastors, for instance.

5. Specific proportions of these funds should be set aside for infrastructure and savings for the future. I expect such excess revenues to be transferred to the Sovereign Wealth Fund to ensure that something is left for our children.
it seems u are poor...is only d poor that talk they way u did.moreover, that was was how tax started..from taxing d rich nd govt seemed to make big bucks from it and d decided to tax d poor to mak bigger bucks
secondly,d govt is not transparent an accontable for d litte d hav taxed nd yet u still want them to tax more...

Lovethywilbedon: Don't mind these people who try to imitate the Moslems by telling us that Christianity is not a Religion but "A Way of Life". Since the word CHRISTIANITY is an English word, they should first check its Dictionary meaning before coming to Nairaland to Creat Multiple Threads.
the question is this..
Those defintions are correct but i was tryna give a clearer picture of what religion is.by sayin it is 'a tradition'...in christianity, wen u receive the life of God..u dnt jst believe in him..He becomes REAL to u;that is to say,u dnt believe & worship in a God that is or 'they said' he is somewhere lookin after his children.
Remember,if u are not born again,u ar not a christian..but yet jesus hav died for all men.emphatically YES!
But it becomes real to u,when u talk proclaim salvation in ROM10;9..
That is not and cant be religion..jesus didnt come to establish a religion.

striktlymi: Good afternoon Namiad,

What exactly do you refer to as "religion"?
religion is tradition.the natural man tries to know God in a lot of thingss, ways and character but has failed but christianity is LIFE..d very life of God u have is at work in you.d bible says 'His spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are the SONS OF GOD.it would take me a whole week to explain that.

Religion / Re: Will Having Tattoos Send Me To Hell? by Namiad(m): 12:09pm On Jan 23, 2013
Ghettoguru: The bible says God is love but I keep wondering if that is entirely correct seeing as some verses condemned things like tattooing one's body. Also, I had gone through some topics about christian views on tattoos here on nairaland and some christians seem to be 100% sure & even comfortable with the idea that anyone who tattooed his or her body is a sinner and should be thrown in hell on the judgement day.

I have a few tattoos, does that mean I and others like me are already condemned and our prayers & worships are useless? If that's true, then, is there any need worshipping a God that will end up throwing us in hell for tattooing our bodies?

If God is going to throw us all in hell for some of these reasons, where is the love? If the good things we do wouldn't be remembered because of mere tattoos, then where is the love? Is God truly love?

I'd like to know your views. Thanks.
hey bro..tattoo is not a sin..thats the truth...what do u think makes it a sin.
Religion / Christianity Is Not A Religion. by Namiad(m): 11:22am On Jan 23, 2013
A lot of people still live under religion and they think that they are christians.
Christianity is not a religion.it is divinity at work in humanity.it is Life.shedding more light on that,a christian is someone that is BORN AGAIN.
What does it mean to be born again?
To be Born again is to confes d lordship of Jesus over your life and believe that God raised Him from the dead.it is religion if u go to church every sunday thinking u are a christian.
In christianity,u receive the life(righteousness) of God when u get born again and that causes you to live right.you become Righteous and live right.Religion thinks u live right and become righteousness.
NO!otherwise u wont have needed Jesus.
In christianity, when you pray u receive answers because 'you are a partaker of His divine nature'.you have an inheritance in Christ Jesus but the religious folks pray because is a tradition for them whether or not they receive answers.
I'll pause here to receivin your contributions on this post..

A few years from now, you could go to the doctor and complain that you have a headache. He'll open his drawer and bring out a traditional scanner (cowrie shells grin). Consult the thing and inform you that your neighbour from the village is responsible grin.

Isn't that advancement? Afterall the oyibos can't do that. We'll soon be having transfer students from the US & UK comming over to study our Traditional Medicine.

mr.born2fuck:
The whole systems in Nigeria are corrupted. I do not seen any sane sectors, not even those who are enforcing the law. Imagine things like:
Our leaders mostly won election through rigging and even those who lost rig too but the highest rigging party won
Churches are now business centre, hopefully they are incorporated.
Mosques are creating terrorists, which are being sponsored by politicians.
Area Boys (Agbero)are king of the road, collecting everyday taxes from moving vehicle.
Police is your friend but Bail is never free ( Bribery is their daily bread).
6 months in prison for those who steal billions; 6 years in prison for someone who steal goat. Our Judges are corrupted too
Do you think EFCC is sane? I laugh in ABC
People are joining politics for the purpose of embezzlement of money, how do you get to the top if you don't practise corruption and malpractice in the school? You want to end up like Gani Fayemi and not obasanjo and IBB? Have you forgotten malpractice is same as rigging in election? The only different is advance stage

You better start training your children how to malpractise, as this will booster his political ambitious to rig election for himself and you can then teach him stealing-with-pen
