Seun: If the punishment does not fit the crime, it is not justice. 1 year jail term does not fit this crime, and that's all there is to it.
When we read about Shariaists stoning girls for getting pregnant, we are indignant, because even though it works, it's not just.
The solution to petty crimes is not to make the punishment unreasonable and wicked, but to enforce reasonable penalties consistently.
Pick a car and come down here to London, drive against traffic on the M25 and see if you won't face at least 6 months in jail.

Ibime: This simply means you have no faith in Torres. Your faith lies in the new players Chelsea just spent serious money on. You have LOVE for Torres and and hope the new signings make things easy for him even feeding him with tap ins. So you are in the same boat with us. You have zero confidence in Torres but 100% confidence in hazard et al. One wonders how the likes of DeMBA ba, odemwingie, rvp etc get by with only Theo Walcott like players to feed them. In other words you don't expect Torres to contribute but to be carried along by those around him. . . . But mark my words, you will regret carrying such passenger when it comes to the crunch games and his teammates can't bail him out.

And if Chelsea dare sign another striker you will start screaming for mercy for Torres tortured soul. How dare he have to fight for his spot. 5 minutes of sitting on the bench always sends his confidence into a critical tailspin.
Oh please man! What you are doing here is a display of complete lack of understanding of our point of view of Torres from eons.
Your inference from my post, as a lack of confidence in Torres is silly at best.

I posted videos here of Torres' goals in a Liverpool shirt. You think all those goals were put on a plate for him? Here's the video - watch again.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3JUdryT9zI

What Torres did against Newcastle to win the penalty that Hazard scored is very reminiscent of goals No 12 and 15 in the video posted above. When I see Torres in a blue shirt having the confidence to pull that off, I know he is finding his feet. Torres will get a lot of chances from the football intelligence of Hazard, Marin, Oscar, Mata but what is far more important is that the goals he scores from the sheer amount of chances created is capable of bringing back the Torres of old that creates chances for himself - The Liverpool Torres.

dayokanu: Mercy Akide would score in the same situation. Now means Torres has improved? Let Chelsea get one other striker like Falcao and lets see what would become of Torres
So let me get this straight. Your point is any striker will score in "the same situation". Now, based on the history of the discussion, I take it you mean "increased number of chances" when you refer to 'the same situation'. Which invariably means Torres will score whne there are chances.

Is this not the point the pro Torres camp has always held?

Unless of course you are saying he will score because there's no competition, which to me is absolutely absurd.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 11:40pm On Aug 28, 2012
All of a sudden, Torres is no longer useless. The general consensus from the anti-Torres camp now is that he will score because he "has no competition". Who uses such logic to justify things?

Dudes have realised that the sheer amount of talent being built around Torres will create an unprecedented amount of chances in box that Torres will benefit from. How the actors are moving goal posts.

dayokanu: The main reason why Torres would do better this season is that he has no compertition for the striker spot. Drogba out, kalou out, Lukaku out
You see what I mean? Coming from the camp who claim that Torres will never lose.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 7:46pm On Aug 28, 2012
Ibime: Na you go argue why he no lose na. You done start already after one good game in three even arguing for previous seasons where "no one could understand his movement" . Start of season you've already set bar low for Torres telling us he could score 20 tap ins this season to make a successful season so I doubt Torres can lose with you around to trumpet his averageness into greatness!!!
Dude I am not setting the bar low for Torres. I am just being realistic. On the other hand you want him to score 35 goals before you can consider him decent and that's on the back of his transfer fee. This is one of the many fronts where we disagree on Torres.

I have repeated for the umpteenth time that Torres was never at any point going to justify a #50m signing for the very reason that he has never been one. This is where my realism stems from. What do you want me to do? Elevate Torres' status to inter-galactic stardom? However, to you, my realism is deemed as making excuses.

----------------------------------------------

Also I do not know where one in 3 games performance comes in. I cannot find a single player rating on the internet that considered Torres' performance against Reading poor. Go find one.

No one's called his performance great. I am just glad he is putting in a shift and from the team we've put together, he will score bucket load of goals. If anything, you are the one who nitpicks on Torres' performance. Torres' euro performance is a one-off. 3 goals to win the Euros' golden boot is average. (Even though he wasn't the only striker in the tournament). Torres' goal against City was a flash in the pan. Let's see what he does in the prem. Torres was poor against Wigan, his goal against reading - offside. Goal against Newcastle - one in 3. Performance against Newcastle - one in 3.

We already know what the likes of you will say even if he scores 30 goals - Torres is average, why can't he score 40?

Exactly why I pasted the gif. It's especially for those who specialise in telling us Torres' movement is sub par with no proof when we continually tell them that the players around him need to be on the same wavelength.

Brilliant first half. I cannot complain. Hazard, well. . .
Torres, 3 goals in 4 games.

Mata needs that rest badly. Bertrand has been solid - done a good job Ben Arfa and the back four have managed to keep Cisse and Ba quiet.
The double pivot in Meireles and Mikel have been disciplined, no one bursting forward to add to their record.

To say we can produce such a performance without the addition of Marin, Oscar, Moses and Azpilicueta, it's mind-blowing.

Then compounded you epistle with lies so it's obvious you are the one arguing here. Man was simply having ma daily read of soccernet when I saw the article about pastore and I posted it here meanwhile you started writing epistles and lying ontop. Hahaha. I claimed aguero wouldn't cut it when all I questioned was the price and gave ma reasons including his injury record then lying about I never knew Valero was at west brom "till you told me then I started making excuses about pulis". Natives you are a disgrace!

Ibime: My phone dey shock up

Yeah so de Guzman as a squad option on a free transfer is great business just like I recommended Manuel Fernandez on free transfer. That same season he took Mallorca to the brink of UCL and won an 8 figure transfer one season later. We can see his quality at Swansea now

Compare to someone throwing tantrum because Chelsea refused to pay 40milla for some overhyped panzy just because you wanted lampard replaced. You cannot find any article stating that pastore is a success at psg so shut it natives. Claiming that you won't post articles to back your yarns but you're quick to preach during useless preseason friendly that look how pastore is using our boys. Hahaha.

Funny that that article was comparing pastore to another expensive panzy that you were throwing tantrum about - Robinho. May amadioha forgive you for the great players such as lampard and ballack you cussed out during Solaris period during your Robinho campaign
Funny how you carefully evaded the topic of Gourcuff and Valero yet still have the audacity to go ahead and criticise others.

What was your assessment about Aguero?
According to you, Aguero was a ninny who would not cut in the PL.
FBS and I backed Aguero to the fullest to even hit the ground running.
I was very vocal abuot the signing of David Silva to Chelsea, dudes like you said, Silva does have the tenacity to make it in the PL.

I can go on and on. Those that have been here on NL for a considerable amount of time have made wise assertions as well as those they wish they can take back.

THerefore, all the "my daddy's car is bigger than your daddy's car", "na me get am, na you miss am" childish games you are throwing around is ridiculous.

Were it coming from someone who never made stupid predictions in the past, it'll be a lot more plausible.
However, from someone with some ridiculous, inconceivable, self-imposed knowledge about things, I don't give a hoot.

Like I told you, it's becoming very boring.
If you want to continue arguing with yourself, be my guest.

Ibime: Last year the "anyone to replace lampard" brigade aka natives wanted us to spend 40milla on this ludicrously overpriced panzie

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/blog/_/name/parissaint-germain/id/25?cc=5739
Hehehe. Anything to make an argument. Who the hell is jonathan Johnson in the world of football pundits that gives the article so much credence, it has to be pasted on here? Once you see someone who makes a remote resemblance to your beliefs on the net, you come and paste quoting my name. Do you know many how articles there are abound on the internet that paint Javier Pastore as the next best thing? Do you see me pasting those links for silly justification?

Get off it dude. If I were you, I will be worried of all the preditions you've made in the past about the players we should buy - Yoann Gourcuff, Borja Valero, De Guzman to name a few.

When I told you then Gourcuff was not consistent enough, you called me a "motherf#phucker". . . Where the hell's Gourcuff now?

Hell you didn't even know Borja was on loan at West Brom for 3 seasons when you were making mouth like this then. When I pointed it out to you, you blamed Tony Pullis even though Tony Pullis never managed West Brom.

-----------------------------------

Point is, this is football mate and the many things you hope will materialise don't. Some require patience, some just don't work outrightly. Sometimes we say things that are absolutely stupid but we move on. Simple. All this nitpicking season after season like a spoilt child who has no chores is getting boring dude.

dayokanu: Do you think those teams dont need Wingers?

united has Valencia, Young and Nani

Arsenal has Walcott, Arshavin Gervinho

Spurs has Bale and Lennon

Etc
I think your argument further elaborates my points in that it's not about the presence of wingers in the teams you've mentioned, it's about if they are getting a bright prospect, one who is nearly as good or maybe even better than what they have for £4m. As the case is, no one sees this.

If these teams do not think Hoilett at £4m is a bargain, it's probably because they know he would not offer the competition expected.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 7:48pm On Aug 24, 2012
Well, you will think even if Chelsea is silly enough to not see Hoilett at £4m as a bargain, how come United, City, Arsenal, Newcastle, Spurs, Liverpool and Everton can't see it. Sometimes, there are some things professionals at the clubs are paid to see that eludes the eyes of ordinary fans like you and I.
