Ibime: I aint worked up about their lack of pace.

I like the two players, but attacking system doesnt suit them. They are only effective when closing down in small spaces.

The first goals yesterday was obviously Terry's fault as I pinpointed.

Like I said, mark my words. . . this system will not work with those two players. Maybe we can get by with one, but not both.

It doesnt matter if we have Pele or Garrincha. All these have been tried with AVB, Scolari and Ancelotti and Mikel and Terry's lack of pace always caused holes in the system. This is not a new issue. Its been ongoing for the last 4 years. You could see the confidence drain in the team as soon as Chelsea conceded yesterday. They were all too aware of their vulnerabilities over the years every time they take game to the opposition and get picked off in open spaces.
The two players in the defensive pivot should provide defensive cover for the defence.
That's why we are playing a 4-2-1-3 or 4-2-3-1 as the case may be.
This style is nothing like Carllotti or even Scolari ever tried. AVB did but that's not prmiarily what did not work, it was because he (AVB) loved to defend high up the pitch and that exposed our lack of pace in defence.

Lampard needs to embrace his new role and help to provide defensive cover rather than bombing forward time and again to get a goal.
It causes midfield and defensive imbalance. We cannot do away with Mikel and Terry because what JT lacks in pace, he provides in defensive positioning and organization, whereas Mikel provides the continuity in the passing flow even though his recovery is almost non-existent.

Like I say, we are not defending in high and medium blocks (in the words of AVB) so pace never becomes a problem.
Pace only becomes a problem when the first defensive shield is out of order. I always expect the back 6 to be more than capable of dealing with and kind of attack.

With the danger that Hazard, Ramires, Torres, Mata, Sturridge, Marin (maybe even Hulk or Moses) can provide on the counter, no team will attack us full on. Therefore there's less pressure.

Everyone just needs to know what they are doing and be disciplined at it and we'll be fine.

Granular analysis by Criz but as you accept, his overall contribution made up for the chances he blew.
For that last goal, 8 out of 10 players with that pace will not pass the ball.

One has got to love him for that single move. Fast looking like £32m well spent.

Hazard eeee!

That's what happens when you have trickery on the ball.
With all these assists, I think I better get Lamps on me FPL.

1-0

I commend you for shoving the blame at the doorsteps of the culprits.

Acidosis: It may be true.
You guys need to see the special treatment given to our officers in Sudan by the UN. They are really doing a great job there. Nigeria itself is a curse, not Nigerians no wonder our people do well when they go abroad.
It will shock you to know the number of people who don't do well abroad.
If the Nigerian police is capable of passing on any kind of training to other forces, it won't be a subject of debate.

Sudanese are better of on their own.

lalaboi: Would you rather him go to a premier league club just to get mere 10 games all season long? .

The loan is good for him.
How do you know he will get more than 10 games at Middlesborough in the first place?
Did you think he won't get more than 10 games at Swansea?

coogar: josh needs the education! if he can get good game time on loan, he would come back a superb player. he cannot receive that education @ chelsea right now because of the wealth of quality players in the squad!
I am not against Josh going on loan. I am against him going to the championship with an avearge side.

Thank God we bought Torres. This thread would have been so dry!

To serious matters though. We've loaned McEachran to Middlesborough.
I am trying to see the point.

dayokanu: Nateevs,

I am back with my usual question. Whats up with Torres. Last season you blamed the mechanical players and Drogba but now who are we to blame?

You see the post below and
It's one person's opinion. It does not mean he is right. Where was his opinion against ManCity where Torres was very alive?
We are playing with the integration of very new technically gifted players, I believe will get to know Torres more and understand how he plays.

I am not making any predictions now. I am going to sit back and watch how it all unfolds.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 3:55pm On Aug 19, 2012
One thing to note is that RDM fielded Bertrand - primarily a defender - front of Ashley to curb the advances of Moses. This totally elimanted the left side of our attack as an outlet. Had we Marin on the left, we would have been more dynamic in attack.

We will get better though. The blending of the different styles of Hazard, Mata, Oscar, Marin maybe Hulk and/or Moses is a a far way from beginning. As such, we won't begin to see the true quality in side up until a few matches in.

The key to having a good season is to continue to grind out results in the first few games and staying in it. That way, we keep the positive belief in the camp and we could have a phenomenal season.

Pataki: After the first ten minutes, there was absolutely nothing fantastic with Chelsea again.

Save except for the sheer brilliant display by Oscar in the second half.
Like there was anything fantastic about Arsenal yesterday.
One would think you walked over Sunderland with the confidence behind your utterances.

Moses' ability is at least one step above his team mates.
WTH happened to Cech?

With the little money they have, they've done pretty well to survive relegation in the past few seasons.

Wigan outplayed your guys in 1st half, that is after gifting y'all the first goal.
Now this half is plain boring. . .guess Wigan haven't got any fight left and Chelsea is still as mechanical as ever.
It will take a while for all to gel.

FBS: They figured it's the only way to stop him. I see penarities cheesy and red cards. lol
It's a good thing. I rather will hope we lose the ball and be fouled in the process than losing it cheaply and having to chase back.
With more fouls come the opportunities to score more goals through set-pieces and penalties.

Decent half.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by nateevs(m): 2:09pm On Aug 19, 2012
David Luiz needs to be careful with these comical defending.
Also Eden Hazard is on pole to being the most fouled player in the game.

If he plays most of our games, he will rank up there as one of the most fouled players in the PL.
