Guys, news broke 2 days ago about a certain Nikola Kalinic, a 20 yrd old croatian we might be paying £8m for . . . The report also says he might be playing with the team in the asia during the pre-season games. I have a link but it's in croatian language. . there's no need posting it.

I watched a youtube video of him and he seemed pretty decent.

I am confused . . . did you get someone to to type the first quote for you. . . ? Ok! guess what you did not shoot yourself in the foot . . . . you blew your phocking feet off. . . Sad man!!!

I could not even trade abuses with you . . not at all because you are not even worth . . you come on a public forum and you say people are dumb because they don't agree with you?. . . it only shows the class of life you belong to.

Why the hell did I start the topic. . . ? You decided to read what favoured you. Ibime was talking about Big phil getting off the back of Robinho as it will only further more inflate the figures . . . then he went on to say what he said about Wenger. . .
In response, I said Wenger does not sign "big players cheap" meaning Big players don't come cheap and so Robinho won't come cheap. . . for this reason you cannot use Wenger-type signings to justify the reasons why Scolari should back off chasing Robinho. . because Wenger buys cheap players and not big players cheap . . . So if Scolari wants to buy a big player he knows he has to spend. . and that is totally different from buying cheap players which Wenger does. . and so wrt what ibime said about wenger in the whole story I said . .

"There is a difference btween buying cheap players and buying big players cheap".

Now you see why I started it. . . the funniest thing is that it was so clear from the beginning but you chose to have a go. . just that simple.

apparently your urge to always have a go at arsenal/wenger has gotten the better of you.i suggest u see a shrink to rectify your obsession!
You got a problem with that ? I remember this place called The Third Mainland bridge in Lagos. . go jump off it if you dey vex. . .

or do u mean by mentioning kaka u've defined who a big player is?
Actually by mentioning Kaka I defined who a small player is. . . undecided
Sorry Mr Oga! I did not know I had to type it out for you to understand. . . Ok Kaka is a big player and if you sign him cheap, you sign him cheap   . . . . Happy?

You are sad!!!
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by nateevs(m): 12:29am On Jul 21, 2008
Mr Oga Ricthboy. . .

To start with . . . You cannot quote me anywhere saying a BIG PLAYER WAS SIGNED CHEAP. . . so you should not ask to
ritchboy:
name one 'big player' who was signed 'cheap'.
I also told you an example of signing a big player cheap was to manage to sign Kaka now for £25m . . . To sign Kaka now, you must be ready to cough out at least £40m. . . so if you manage to sign him for £25m . . . you have signed a big player cheap. so when you come back to ask me

ok, whats your definition of a 'big player'
I am baffled . . as I just told you an example of a big player.

Now back to the original thing . . . When you sign a relatively unknown player for a silly amount of money. . you are taking a risk, a gamble that one day he will become great and that's the reason why every club has football academies. Now 7 times out of ten, these footballers will be unheard of by the time they are in their mid twenties. 2 times out of ten they grow into becoming big players. . . when they blow up and become players of the year you can't credit yourself with knowing how to sign a world class player on the cheap because you tried it 10 times and 8 times you failed. In actual fact you took a gamble.

So when Fergie did it with Beckham, Catonna, Ryan Giggs to name a few, Chelsea with Lampard, Joe Cole, John Terry and so many other clubs, they cannot say they knew they were going to blow up, because what will they say about those that didn't? Oh They knew they were not going to blow ? Why sign them in the first place.

So when you sign these young guys and then turn out big ( which is not 100% your making because 8 out of ten have fallen by the way side) what you have done apparently is that you have signed cheap players and then they turned out big not signing big player cheap.

If you manage to get a world class player IN THEIR PRIME for silly money (like signing Ronaldo right now for £25m) then you have signed a big player cheap. Simple.

The only time you use such statements like "daft" is when you are intimidated.

You don't know what you are talking about. There's a big difference between signing cheap players and signing big players cheap.

What is up with Scolari and the constant chasing of obvious targets, even when their club refuses to sell? If Madrid do not want to sell, stop chasing the player indefinitely - you will only inflate the price to a ridiculous amount. To be honest, I would think twice before spending more than £25m on Robinho. There are many other options. This is why I like Arsene Wenger when it comes to transfers. No club can ever take the piss because he has five transfer targets for every position.
There's a difference between signing cheap players and signing big players cheap . . . the former is what Arsene does. .

Maka still got it. Since you guys said he was getting old, I have been watching him closely. Personally, I do not see much difference between then and now. I watched him in the Euros and he was one of the only players for France to keep his reputation intact. Infact, I was surprised at his level of fitness because he was running around a lot more than he does at Chelsea since France only play with two central midfielders. Misplaced passes - I disagree completely. Ituen is saying he can bet that he will misplace his pass everytime he sees him play. I do not think my response was an overreaction because that is an inflammatory assessment of my favourite player. Pace? He still has more than Mikel. He plays his position in such a way that he does not rely on his physical prowess that much. I had seen him playing for Chelsea till 37. As for Mikel, I support him when he plays for Naija - but my support for Nigeria and my support for Chelsea do not overlap each other. They are mutually independent. For example, I never supported Babayaro over Graeme Le Saux. Mikel needs to wait his turn. Infact, I still do not see him as a DM per se. I wish we could have utilised him in a different position. Besides, we need two DM's. Even if we are going to ease Maka into retirement and let Mikel take his shirt, I don't mind. But what happens when Mikel is injured. Do you trust Essien to play that position? I certainly don't.
I do not think anyone doubt if Maka's lost it. . I watched him at the euors as well and I thought he was the most oustanding the French. . . However if he has to leave. Then he leaves. .
Mikel is def not a DM . . and should be mentioned in the same sentence with Maka when talking about DM qualtities. Having said that there were many times in the season where you see the obvious need to take Maka off and put Mikel in. Scolari is going to use Essien as DM except that like I said, there are different ways of playing that position and an alternative to Maka's way is what Scolari is going to adopt in the season.

I am a big Makalele fan and will give anything to make him stay at Chelsea I could . . . I call him the best player that ever played that role since I started playing football. I love him with all my heart. If he went to ManU I will still love him. Having said that it will be wise to agree with those saying Maka lost a lot of possession last season. Yes he did. The only way to prove it is to watch the season's matches again and you'll know that. Maka is 34 and we don't expect him to be the way he was when he first came to the bridge. I am not saying however that it is enough reason for him to go, I am just saying if he goes then we move on. I said the same about Lampard who scored most of the goals that gave us the best of success we've had in 50 years.

Chelsea appear set to sign the Milan playmaker Kaka for a world-record €100m (£79.3m) after discussions took place this week, with both clubs and the Brazil international keen for a deal to go through. Sources at Stamford Bridge have confirmed that Chelsea are targeting the 26-year-old and it is understood that Milan are inclined to accept a bid of €100m tabled this week.

whether you like it or not, all players are not created equal, you cannot Peter Crouch to Ronaldo, or Dirk Kuyt to Ruud van Nistlerooy, there is an exception to every rule, recognizing this is the art of management. The kid chose not to play in the qualifiers because Chelsea needed him afterall he plays regularly for Chelsea especially during injury crisis and when Essien is playing at right back, heck, the guy is supposed to be a younger replacement for Makelele. But what does Siasia do? he kicks him off the team because of his over inflated ego or jealousy (who knows, the guy never made as much money as mikel in his playing days) then you replace with some obscure kids who qualified by playing second rate teams in Africa. Well good for him, he better get it right at the olympics because, Holland is bringing Babel and Makaay who never played in there qualifiers and the Argentines and brazilians are bringing Messi, Arguero, Ronaldiho, Pato and Robinho NONE OF WHOM EVER PLAYED IN THE QUALIFIERS FOR THERE COUNTRY.

What are you talking about? Must Siasia do what Argentina and Brazil did? Siasia gave Mikel the opportunity that took him to Chelsea after he featured in the Eguavoen led U-17 in Finland . . just maybe there's someone in the pipeline that you don't know about.

@Debosky

The first post was a very intelligent post about our breaking even. . . the target is however 2010 not 2009.

On a point of correction tough, Chelsea will not spend £100m this season. . it is no longer feasible. . Bridge is not on £80,000 to begin with. . I can't tell you what he is on but I can bet he is not. .

I understand that the wage structure can destroy the club. . but don't think abramovic just sits there and dishes out huge wages to players . . the club has become wiser and stupid wages are being done away with . .

1. Lampard will not get his wish. . He will leave and that saves up £7m a year. . Replaced with Deco on £80k for 2 years. .

2. Sidwell's £50k a week has been saved, has not and will not be replaced

3. Ben Haim's £50k will be saved. .

4. Pizzarro, Malouda, SWP might all leave and their whatever they earn will be saved. .

5. Ballack will not be given a new contract after his 3 years contract expires. .

6. Sheva has 2 more years and we will be free. .

The club is slowly moving into a sustainable wage structure scheme. There have been several talks about expanding the the stadium but Stamford Bridge is such that The Chelsea hotel is to the right of the east wing and a national railway line behind it. . residential homes to the left of it and Fulham road right in front of it thereby making expansion difficult. . I followed some news sometime ago that Chelsea will commence work soon on a new 80,000 seater stadium except the name Stamford Bridge is what is being contemplated. .

Roman has made billions in his business lifetime and I am sure non of us can lecture him about what a long term investment is. . He knows very clearly that what he's invested so far can only be recouped back after a long time. . If he knows that why would he put more? It's because he knows he is going to be here for a long time. .

The renovated and amazing Cobham training centre and injection of funds into youth and reserves shows Roman is also considering rebuilding . . Wait till you see the likes of Gael Kakauta, Miroslav Stoch, Tejera, Franco Di santo, Manciene, Cork, Woods, et al blow up on the scene and then you will know Chelsea has been slowly rebuilding for sometime . . .

Chelsea is slowly building a brand and that is why Roman cannot wait to see his team play exciting football that appeals to the eyes and increases fanbase. . Chelsea has come to stay and for a very long time . . get used to it fellas. .

Plus Maka is not on the same money as the rest of them. I believe he has been earning £70,000. The fact is that Lampards game is based on his energy level, not some supernatural skill. As he gets older his game will decline dramatically. You cannot say the same for Maka.

Maka is def £70k a week, 70k a week less than what Lampard rejected. .  Plus there's nothing to suggest that he sells the most shirts. . Lampard will never show form of the past and the greatest mistake he will make is staying at Chelsea. . .

There perhaps won't be a forum if we all agreed on the same things. .

It however looks like we will never agree on this issue. . . So let's push the topic aside for now . . I just wish LPS tries it in the season and we see how it goes . .

Did you take a good look at the Lampard situation Ibime?

He currently has one year left on his contract, so the 5 years he is asking for, is after this one year left which guarantees him a £140,000 a week till he is 36. £140,000 a week till he is 36? How greedy !! Actually I have never heard of this in my entire life in football. . . If the club conceeds, then someone somewhere is high on beans. .

Ryan Giggs has helped ManU win 2 CL titles and 10 premiership titles in his stay. When he was 30 he was offered a 2 year extension which he gladly accpeted. . and then another two years which he gladly accepted and all for less than half what Lamps is asking for . . . Now who is the club legend. . .
