CAPSLOCKED: people all over Nigeria are mourning this guy; on facebook, Whatsapp, instagram, gmail, play store, you name it. oh, what a terrible loss to our great nation.
these set of international mourners are usually quick to show themselves whenever things like this happen. they even grieve more than the relatives of the dead celebrity. and each day in our own backyards, children are killed. people are abducted. Christians are executed in the north, and many other things go wrong and nobody puts in emphasis like they do whenever it happens to big names.
they're always in #prayforfrance, #prayforuk, #wildfire, and #prayforkobe mode, including those who never knew the people involved in the tragedy. but because it's trending, they'd want to follow. while our own businesses are hardly talked about like that. you never see them praying for unimaid, or southern Kaduna. we have a people with the worst social views in this country and it's so messed up to live like that.
hotmediatv: The world, especially the NBA has been thrown into a state of mourning following the sudden death of NBA legend, Kobe Bryant who was killed in a fiery helicopter crash in California today that also claimed four other lives, including his 13 year old daughter.
According to multiple media reports, the 41-year-old was on board with at least three other people when the private helicopter went down for an unknown reason.
Emergency responders got to the scene as quickly as possible but no one survived the crash, police said.
He is survived by his wife and 3 children: Natalia and Bianca and newborn Capri, who was born in June 2019. Kobe is considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time and played for 20 years with the Los Angeles Lakers.
rentAcock: I didn't watch Jordan play but I definitely watched the Kobe & Shaq era. Kobe is the reason I started watching basketball while those around me only watched football. The guy is so talented and driven that I think it is even an insult to put Lebron ahead of him in a rank of the greatest of all time. I have never felt so touched and saddened by the death of a person I've never met before but for the past two days I've been really sad. It just hurts to see this promising young man go like that, it's like it doesn't even seem right. It feels so unfair as though he was cheated. The guy just had so much life left in him, and to think we will never see one of basketball's greatest player again, is just an insurmountable loss.
He was not only a legend, but he was also a very caring father. How many dads with a business empire, fame and wealth like his would make out time to attend every basketball game of their 13yr old daughter? But he did. He was so proud of that girl, you can just see how happy they were together.
It's quite unfair, but his legacy lives on. His name will forever be carved in record books, buildings, stadiums and in our minds till eternity. Rest on black mamba, rest on

beejayvince: WhatsApp recently bade farewell to Windows Phone. The giant chatting app is now ready to do the same with some Android and iOS devices. This is not surprising as there have been talks about it for quite a while.
Starting from February 1, 2020, WhatsApp will no longer work on phones running Android 2.3.7 or iOS 7 (and earlier). So, if you are using an Android phone running that Android version or earlier, then WhatsApp will stop working on your phone from next Saturday. The same applies if you are using an iPhone 4 or an earlier model.
When WhatsApp pulled the plug on Windows Phone, the app no longer started. In fact, it was impossible to access the chat history. So, you may want to save a backup of your chats before Saturday if your phone is running any of the old Operating Systems. That way, you will have your important conversations intact upon switching to a more updated phone.
Ilekokonit: If your woman only says I love you during sex or asks you if you love her during sex or she asks you to tell her you love her during sex, then she is a psycho.
grandiose4ever: “You cannot blame Muslims for crying out when you ask them to bring birth certificates from churches before joining Amotekun. Neither can you expect them to stand akimbo when you tell them to bring letters of recommendation from churches.
“Muslims in the Yoruba enclave are not opposing Amotekun per se. What they oppose is a situation where a ostensibly anti-Islam security outfit comes into operation in Yorubaland.
“Apart from the reference to birth certificates from churches and letters of reference from pastors, the choice of nomenclature is another controversial issue because it has a strong Christian identity.
“Why ‘Amotekun’ as a name for crying out loud? Research has revealed the biblical origin of this name and it makes Muslims suspicious. Why Amotekun of all brands?
“Jeremiah 5:6 says, ‘A leopard shall guard over their city’. Amotekun is mentioned in this verse with particular reference to guarding a city.
[s]“Now, we have a sub-region where Muslims have been under persecution for ages coming up with a security outfit under the name of the same leopard mentioned in the bible as a guard over the city.
“This is not a coincidence. The handlers of Amotekun picked the name deliberately from the bible in order to score a spiritual point. It is very critical. It calls for serious concern. So why give a security unit a religious name?
[b]“We advise the planners of the new security outfit to give it another name in the interest of peace and harmony in the sub-region. This is necessary if they want to carry all stakeholders along. Amotekun as a name is already controversial. [b]We do not need a Christian security unit.
“Neither do we need a Muslim security outfit. The security agency in the South West must not only be neutral, it must also be seen to be neutral.
“We affirm that Muslims form the majority in the population of the South West. They are therefore critical stakeholders and the unity of the Yoruba cannot become fait accompli without involving the Muslims in the sub-region. Muslims must be carried along in any security network in the zone. We are interested in security.
“We are security conscious. We will therefore join a South West security initiative if it is not tainted with Christian landmarks. We will have confidence in a security outfit that involves Muslim leaders, not one that parades pastors, bishops and archbishops alone.
“It must also be noted that a security group that starts with subtle threats to our brethren in faith in another part of the country cannot be safe for Muslims in Yorubaland. There is no racism or tribalism in Islam (Qur’an 49:13). It is a global brotherhood. Yoruba Muslims love Yorubaland.
“They also love Nigeria. But they owe their Creator, Allah, an unflinching and undiluted love towards their brothers and sisters in Islam no matter their race, tribe or colour. From Allah we came and unto Allah we shall return.
“On that Day, nobody will be judged on the basis of his tribe but on the basis of his deeds on earth. Nonetheless, we believe in a united Nigeria and we will support a security unit that constitutes no threat to any tribe in the country, be it Igbo, Fulani, Ijaw, or Tiv.
“However, the latest assurance coming from certain quarters that birth certificates from churches and letters of reference from pastors was not part of the original pre-requisites is most welcome.
“MURIC will support any security arrangement anywhere in Nigeria so long as such arrangement is devoid of gymnastic religiousity and acrobatic ethnicity.
“In addition, the organisers of Amotekun must desist from attempts to intimidate perceived opponents of the scheme. Leaders of the group must caution their foot-soldiers against excesses.
“They must distance themselves from arm-twisting gimmicks like deliberately misinterpreting statements made by people who oppose the Amotekun idea.
“For instance, MURIC has very strong evidence that some elements in the Amotekun camp have issued death threats to its leader. That is unacceptable. It is an attempt to silence opposition.
“All opinions must be allowed in a democracy. That is freedom of speech. Those who attempt to muzzle opinions give the impression that they have hidden agenda. It presupposes that the Amotekun security project will be biased and unprofessional when it finally comes on board. We refuse to be intimidated. It changes nothing in our stand and style of advocacy.
“In a nutshell, as the organisers deliberate on the legal framework to back the complementary security project in the South West, we advise that such legal framework includes a clause that lays emphasis on religious neutrality, security for all citizens residing in Yorubaland regardless of their ethnic background and a new name which is acceptable to all faiths.”[/s]

In an atmosphere of fun, entertainment and several displays of cultural funfare, masquerade displays and traditional monuments, the festival also witnessed the special presence of His distinguished politicians, reputable personalities, traditional rulers and youth age grades across Orumba communities and senatorial district. Among other notable political invitees are Hon. Emmanuel Nwafor, state House of Assembly Member representing Orumba South and Hon. Barr. Raymond Onyegu, Chairman Orumba South LGA.
While appreciating Guests and neighbouring Royal Fathers and Kings for honouring the event, HRH Igwe Bernard O. Emejuo, the Ebube Agu1 of Dara Kingdom, also applauded sponsors of the eventful festival, especially efforts made by Mapuije Ezeamolue Foundation in powering the occasion.
The Igwe also stressed that the annual Eziagu Festival of Heritage would continue to be an occasion that will help to unite indigenes of Eziagu community from across the globe with a vision to promote their culture and collectively help in developing the opportunities for the younger generations. According to Obinna Nwankwo, the Chairman planning committee of the festival, he described the 2019 edition of the festival as successful, especially with the impressive and massive turnout of friends and families of the Eziagu Community.
He also stressed on his concerns and how the festival helped in providing a platform for people to meet people, strengthen relationships and improve appreciable level of communal life. He noted that other festivals across Anambra and the south east region must imitate the Eziagu Festival of Heritage, especially with the peaceful and entertaining atmosphere it maintained all throughout the event.
In another reaction from one of Nigeria's notable, award winning media personality and publisher of Attention Magazine, Alex Nwankwo, son of late Chief GNC Nwankwo, acknowledged the festival as one that would forever be talked about, as he added that the collective unity as shown at the organisation of the event is more important than individual purity. He also stated that his might and capacity will be explored in promoting the festival across the biggest media platforms in Africa and across to world with a vi ew to promote the Cultural heritage of Eziagu community.
A well deserved win to Kidjo. The content of her songs are out of this world. She is a mix of Maya Angelou and Miriam Makeba.
Music lovers and genuine content critics like myself would have given up on the credibility and essence of the Grammy Awards if another undeserving artiste had won this.
Sentiments aside, Nigeria is yet to replicate another Fela Kuti in the global music sphere.
Fela is the only Nigerian deserving of a Grammy. Because music is not about dancesteps or groupie trends but about a movement, a message, reawakening a consciousness and yet the melody. This is a reality lost on today's Nigerian artistes aside from Asá who still lacks in consistency.
As an African act, till your music can be accepted by Pastors, Imams, Youths, elders, global leaders, United Nations and illiterates, then you stand a chance of being an African Album or winning a foreign award in Music.
Nigeria and Nigerians must understand that club bangers do not translate to foreign awards in global music.
Citytrend: Such an unfortunate theory. May the remaining days of this Dude on earth be filled with sorrow. And may he suffer a thousand times of whatever emotional truama this innocent girl is going through
