Well, sales pitch or not, it is a fact of life. Just like every other tin in life, too much of it sucks. |
Job Interview Question You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night. You pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for the bus: 1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die. 2. An old friend who once saved your life. 3. The perfect man (or) woman you have been dreaming about. Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there could only be one passenger in your car? Think before you continue reading. This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application. You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and thus you should save her first; or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life, and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back. However, you may never be able to find your perfect dream lover again. The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble coming up with his answer.... But wat wud ur answer be seeing that getting the job depended on the answer to the above scenario? (I'll supply the candidate's winning answer after I read ur views) |
Besea:Lol. Where were u since? Didn't have d courage to propose na. How wud he hv known u were dying to marry him? Well, take heart. |
A girl had been bragging to her friends about her fiance: how he was rich, suave, caring, and handsome. In fact, she told them, he was planning to come and see her in school and they should come around and see what goodies he would bring for her on his return from Dubai. All her friends were green with envy and awaited the arrival of the much-praised fiance. When he eventually came, she rushed to him in greeting. And in the presence of all her friends, he presented her with a loaf of Agege bread as his present. She was mad with rage and started insulting him bitterly right there. In fact, she flung the loaf of bread very violently back at him, whereupon two items fell out from the weak wrapping: 1. The keys to a brand-new car 2. A diamond ring for engagement. Everyone, including the girl, was stunned. Silence came upon the place immediately. The young man just stood their gaping, shock written all over him. If you were him, what would you do next? Should he forgive the girl and go ahead, or he should leave her? |

alj harem: Roachas comes to mind, in as much as I always go for competence and merit; Rocahas ticks it for me.I edited ur comment to read 'GOOD Nigerian President' instead of GOOD Igbo President'. Every oda tin u said in d part I quoted, I agree with. |
ndahbros1: How do I quote someone's comments in a separate box like d rest of u guys do? How do I bold statements too? Please help! I need a better NL experience. |

Hello! I have a lot of tins I want to be doing online and was advised to have my own blogsite. How do I create and run a blogsite? I'd really appreciate ur inputs. Thanks! |
I wonder y all of u are beefing Beaf(pun actually intended) over solar electrification issues. Y don't u see it as a challenge to innovation or enterprise? Must he give details of how it can be done or if it is even possible here in Nigeria? It is for d business- and creative-minded person to assert himself over d opportunity. And believe me, opportunity it is. There is nothing dat is not capable of making one rich in Nigeria. Already d average Nigerian does not depend on govt. So dis cud just be one area where someone can pick up d gauntlet n make himself rich. |
Quoting Beaf (don't know how to bold and all that yet): I hope you don't mind the necessary edit? Sorry, but Nigerians abroad did not travel out to save the country, so their working double has nothing to do with Nigeria. They are working double because they went abroad either ill-equipped or with no plan, but travelled with the sole purpose of improving their own lives (and none other). 90% of them would have made much more money in Nigeria with the attitude that saw them dare the odds to try out a life abroad. With belief, each of us can pitch in and make Nigeria great, instead of running off to foreign lands. ....................................... U ar at ur enviable best here. I stand up for that comment(especially as u didn't lower its efficacy by resorting to insults). Tell them! |
Readers will find this picture shocking... but it illustrates the depth of revulsion at Assad's massacre of the innocents Thugs loyal to Syrian president's regime slaughter up to 50 children At least 92 dead and over 100 others wounded Soldiers 'used tanks, mortars and heavy machine guns' on town of Houla Amid claims victims were stabbed, William Hague heads demands for emergency UN summit By Ian Gallagher PUBLISHED: 10:49, 26 May 2012 | UPDATED: 23:06, 26 May 2012 Comments (4) Share . . On a bedroom floor, the bodies of Syrian children lie like discarded dolls. The eyes of some are still open and, hauntingly, their expressions are frozen in fright. No older than eight, a blood-soaked girl wearing a headscarf and pink diamante belt, is face to face with a younger boy. Around them, a dozen others, some with their arms outstretched, lie shoulder to shoulder. All were massacred on Friday, claim activists, when thugs loyal to President Bashar Assad swept through towns and villages in the country’s central province of Homs. Terrible aftermath: A heartbreaking image of children said to have been killed in Houla by Assad's thugs in a still from a video taken by an activist and posted online 'Massacre': Bodies of those killed by Syrian forces in the atrocity are lined up in Houla Men are said to have been killed on the streets, while women and children were shot and stabbed in their homes. The images, almost impossible to bear, came from film taken by an amateur and posted online. In the background the voice of an adult can be heard crying: ‘Oh God, oh God, oh God.’ Activists say more than 100 people were killed in the attacks, of which around 50 were said to be children – many of them aged under ten. Other amateur videos posted online showed dead children covered with sheets and blankets. In one, at least a dozen children, some with holes in their heads and faces, lay on what appeared to be the floor of a mosque. ‘They killed entire families, from parents on down to children, but they focused on the children,’ claimed one activist. He added that residents, fearing further attacks, spent yesterday fleeing the area. More... Police kill two in Syrian crowd after they gathered to welcome UN observers The smiling terror warlord: Was this photo of 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed smuggled out of Guantanamo Bay? Worst hit was Houla, north-west of the city of Homs, the main city of Homs province. It was peppered with mortars in one of the bloodiest single events in Syria’s 15-month-old uprising. Activists from the region said regime forces attacked Houla following a large anti-regime protest on Friday. After the bombardment, pro-government thugs known as shabiha raided the area with appalling ferocity. Syria’s opposition also accused security forces of killing 47 women and children in the besieged city of Homs. Hadi Abdallah, a Syrian activist, said the bodies of 26 children and 21 women, some with their throats slit and others bearing stab wounds, were found in the Karm el-Zaytoun and Al-Adawiyeh neighbourhoods. ‘Some of the children had been hit with blunt objects on their head, one little girl was mutilated and some women were raped before being killed,’ he said. Death toll: The United Nations said several weeks ago that 9,000 people had been killed in Syria in the past 15 months. Hundreds more have died since (file photo) Demonstration: Libyan citizens protest for peace in the southern province of Daraa, yesterday Last night Foreign Secretary William Hague said Britain is to push for a ‘strong international response’ to the Houla massacre, which he described as ‘appalling’. Mr Hague said the UK will press for an urgent session of the United Nations Security Council to co-ordinate the response to the crime. ‘There are credible and horrific reports that a large number of civilians have been massacred at the hands of Syrian forces in the town of Houla, including children,’ he said. Mr Hague urged President Assad’s regime to grant ‘full and immediate’ access to Houla for UN monitors and to stop all military operations, as demanded by UN special envoy Kofi Annan. France’s foreign minister Laurent Fabius and the Arab League also condemned the assault. The attack on Houla left one of the highest death tolls in one specific area since an internationally brokered ceasefire came into effect last month. In one incident, according to reports, a family of six was killed when their home received a direct hit. The activists said the Houla killings appeared to be sectarian, raising fears that Syria’s uprising, which started in March 2011 with protests calling for political reform, is edging closer to the type of sectarian war that tore apart its eastern neighbour, Iraq. The Houla villages are Sunni Muslim. Activists said that the pro-regime forces all came from an arc of villages south of Houla that are populated by Alawites, members of the offshoot of Shia Islam to which Assad belongs. ‘Our area is Sunni and the surrounding villages are Alawite,’ said one activist, Abu Walid. ‘I don’t like to talk about sectarianism, but it was clear that this was sectarian hatred.’ Before the killing: A child is among the protesters in Houla on Friday Protestors demonstrate against the Syrian regime: The opposition Syrian National Council has urged the UN Security Council to act urgently after claiming that regime forces 'massacred' scores of civilians Syrian state TV blamed the ‘massacre’ in Houla on ‘armed terrorist groups’ – a term that it often uses for the opposition. The claims and videos could not be independently verified. The Syrian government bars most media from operating inside the country. Anti-regime groups, which have expressed frustrations with the international community’s reluctance to intervene in Syria’s conflict, strongly condemned the killings. World powers have fallen behind the UN peace plan, which is supposed to lead to dialogue between all sides on a political solution. The US and European nations say they will not intervene militarily. Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Libya have said they will arm Syria’s rebels, although no country is known to be doing so now. A spokesman for the opposition Syrian National Council called on the UN Security Council ‘to examine the situation in Houla and to determine the responsibility of the United Nations in the face of such mass killings, expulsions and forced migration from entire neighbourhoods’. The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights released an unusually harsh statement, saying Arab nations and the international community were ‘partners’ in the killing ‘because of their silence about the massacres that the Syrian regime has committed’. The UN has sent more then 250 military observers to Syria to try to salvage the ceasefire, and a spokesman for the team said they visited Houla yesterday. The observers said they counted at least 90 bodies, including 32 children. UN mission head Major-General Robert Mood said that the killing in the town was ‘indiscriminate and unforgivable’. But one Houla activist said the observers’ visit would not help and could cause the government to attack again. ‘As soon as they came we asked them to leave because many areas they go to get attacked,’ said Abu Suleiman. ‘We don’t want them to get near us.’ A local activist, Abu Yazan, said the massacre began with shelling and, later, pro-regime thugs stormed the village, raiding homes and shooting at civilians. It followed an anti-regime demonstration after prayers on Friday. Homs has been among the hardest hit provinces in a government crackdown since the uprising against Assad’s regime began in March last year. The United Nations said several weeks ago that 9,000 people had been killed in Syria. Hundreds more have died since. The new violence in Houla is also a further blow to a UN peace plan for Syria that was supposed to start with the ceasefire between government troops and rebels on April 12 but has never really taken hold. Despite the daily ceasefire violations, UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon said that there was no ‘plan B’ for the Annan initiative. Meanwhile, in a letter to the Security Council, he said the Syrian opposition controlled ‘significant parts of some cities’. He said that ‘established terrorist groups’ could have been behind some of the recent bomb blasts in Syria judging from the sophistication of the attacks. He warned that the situation remained ‘extremely serious’ and urged states not to arm either side in the conflict. Earlier this month, a bombing in Damascus left 55 dead in an attack which the government blamed on Al Qaeda. The attack came amid mounting fears that the terrorist group was taking advantage of the conflict to gain a foothold. Mr Ban said Syria ‘has not ceased the use of, or pulled back, their heavy weapons in many areas’ – one of the requirements of the peace plan. Mr Annan’s six-point peace agreement ordered a cessation of violence on April 12. While casualties appeared to fall after the truce, the fighting quickly resumed to previous levels. The northern city of Aleppo, a major economic hub, has remained largely supportive of Assad throughout the uprising but anti-regime sentiment has been on the rise in recent weeks. On Friday Syrian forces fired tear gas and live ammunition to disperse thousands of protesters in Aleppo calling for Assad to be ousted, killing five people, activists said. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2150276/Homs-massacre-Syrian-forces-kill-90-worst-attacks-ceasefire-began.html |
1. Jonathan has d legal and constitutional right to contest. He is just into his first tenure and all other considerations shd play out on d field of voting. Let no one tink that he can be stopped from contesting. 2. For those who constitute themselves Gallup opinion polls and make bold to say that 'majority of Nigerians do not want GEJ', I sincerely hope the majority in question is not urself plus ur household alone? Where hv u gone to sample opinions? Whom have u asked? B4 u make such sweeping statements, u r advised to consider d ramifications. 3. If anyone in d North is qualifies to take power, so is GEJ. What credentials does d Northerner have that GEJ doesn't? So if power shd be free for all to seek , it shd as well come back to Otueke. Why shd it go back to d North so soon? Is dat their only means of livelihood? 4. E.K. Clark is a citizen of Nigeria and enjoys freedom of speech and expression. He has d right to hold an opinion. Y don't u all call for the head of ethnic jihadists like Junai Mohammed? EK Clark has d right to want GEJ to come again. Don't beef him for saying his mind. 5. GEJ shd be judged by his achievements. He shd win or lose elections by the parameters of human and infrastructural developments, not some jingoistic cravings from near d Sahara. We have advanced beyond that stage where a region will feel it is their birthright to rule. Let d forces of political 'demand and supply' play themselves out! |
^^^^ I see u hv month sense of history. Allow me educate u a bit then. Are u aware dat d UN presented d Jews and Arabs with a partition plan of d whole of d land east of River Jordan, which effectively meant two states, one for Jews, one for Arabs(Palestinians)? Of course u aren't. Are u aware dat d Jews accepted d partition but the Arabs flatly refused? Are u aware that early this year, PA president, Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) publicly blamed d then Arab leaders for that mistake? Who told u the land was occupied by force? Are u unaware of d continous and unbroken Jewish presence in Palestine(Jerusalem in particular) uptil AD 70 and even up till 1948? Are u aware of d Balfour Declaration as far back as 1917 which paved the way for Jewish statehood? What is d history of d Palestinians on dat land? Where did d Hebrews of old live if not in Palestine? Where did they go to after they left Egypt? Are u aware that most Palestinians have Egyptian and Saudi heritages (a fact testified to by terrorist Haniyeh, Hamas Prime Minister in Gaza)? Just wat do u know? Don't believe d Arabs. They are all liars in respect of this issue. If Arabs and Muslims so love themselves, how come d so-called Palestinian 'refugees' ar never given citizenship in Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria? Or in any Arab country? Yet, they enjoy the fullest of rights in Israel which they seek to annihilate. And u hv d audacity to complain! |
U guys worry a lot over nothing. Israel is used to having haters. Infact, if u are a keen follower of Israeli, MidEast, and European affairs, u wud hv known by now that Israel is d most hated country in d world. That's a solid fact. They got some solid friends too, but, yeah, they harvest haters by the tonnes. So don't beat urselves up much: they r used to it. Much of wat fuels d hate here is ignorance and misinformation. It won't be bad for u guys to really knw wats happening. How many of u were aware that in March a Palestinian terror organisation, the Jihad Islami, fired over 200 missiles into souther Israel? If not for d grace of God and d efficiency of d Iron Dome defence systems, many lives wud hv been lost. How many of u knw dat just 2 days ago, the Palestinian Authority named a Boys' Scout org after a female terrorist who sailed from Lebanon n killed 37 Israeli civilians? Wat about the murdered Fogel family? Wat abt the last one in France which caught global attention? And for someone here who said Ahmedinejad never called for Israel's annihilation, I see u don't understand English. Wen Ayatollah Khomeini called Israel a 'cancerous tumor that must be cut off', where were u? When the Arabs killed 8 Israelis last 3 months near the border with Israel, which prompted Israel to go after them and killing some Egyptians by mistake, where were u? There is no day on earth dat an Arab does not mug a Jew or their soldiers. The stupid UN( the world's greates anti-Israel forum) never came out to condemn d March bombings but was quick to condemn Israeli settlement of West Bank(Samaria and Judea). It is just not fair. We r quick to condemn and crucify d Jews but nobody wants to hear their own side of d story or knw wat evils d Arabs ar perpetuating. PA Arabs celebrate Nabka Day by boasting abt the number of Jews they hv killed and no one sees it as wrong. The head of d Jewish community in Yemen was murdered this week but of course, its all gud. Nobody cares. Well, we care and will continue to care. Most importantly, the God of Abraham, Isaac n Jacob cares. After all, He promised to gather them from exile and establish them again in Israel, which He has done. So no human can do anythinga about it. And d Jews keep on waxing! If u guys don't like it, look for d nearest transformer and hug. We love Israel! |
And for those of u who delude urselves that Israel will or can be wiped out by any nation or group of nations on earth, kudos for displaying ur ignorance for d world to see. Fact 1: Israel I surrounded by Arabs all round. To the North, Lebanon (and Hezbullah). South, Egypt, West, Gaza and d Meditteranean, East, Jordan. They also share border with Syria from whom they captured the Golan Heights in just six days of war. Now, why couldn't all d terrorist Arab countries wipe her off d map in 1948 when ALL of them attacked her at once? As tiny as Israel was then, wit a newly formed IDF(Israel Defence Forces), she defeated them roundly. 19 yrs after, d same scenario repeated itself and Israel took d Sinai from Egypt, Golan Heights from Syria, n the whole of East Jerusalem from Jordan. Jordan and Egypt later tot it wise to make peace wit Israel whereupon Sinai was released(a move Israel now regrets). As it stands now, among d many enemies of dat tiny state is Turkey(pop. 80 million), radical and terrorist Iran, and all Arab States except Jordan(for now). Why is it so hard for them to start it? Check up d map of d Mid East n u will see how tiny the Jewish state is, compared to every other country. Wat r they waiting for? Don't worry, soon u wil hear d sound of Israeli fighter planes and bombs in Iran. For the Muslims here, Israel has come to stay. U guys ar powerless abt it. Go take Gaza by force if u can. And as for China and Russia and Ireland and all Arab countries and Iran, u can't do shit. That project is standing on four legs and all u can do is sulk. Long live Eretz Yisrael. Long live Zionism! Long live Israel. |
It is so very sad that the world's favourite pastime, Israel-bashing, has found its inglorious way into Nigeria and NL. All it takes is just one jaundiced and hate-inspired article and the rabid anti-Semites in our ranks start spewing lethal poison. The truth of d whole matter is that Israel is a small country of less than 8 million people with a geography d size of Kano State. And because of d porosity of d southern border, d trade in illegal aliens especially from South Sudan, has been exponentially flourishing and threatening the Israeli security and economy. Why did d poster not also post news of all d vicious crimes the aliens commit in Tel Aviv or d fact that the Israeli govt is currently feeding most of them? Or even d fact that most of them are witout papers and ar illegal aliens? And instead of staying under d radar in a foreign land u entered illegally, u go there to cause problems n soar d crime rate. As I type, three members of the Knesset hav sponsored a self-defence program wherein residents of South Tel Aviv will learn to defend themselves from African marauders, especially the Sudanese who hv so many muslims in their midst. This issue had already been discussed wit South Sudan's President so it is notin new. Y don't they stay in their country and do al that rubbish? Let the truth be told: there ar only a few of dem who qualify as refugees. Why did d OP not state that an Ethiopean is an Israeli ambassador? Ar there no Ethiopeans serving in public office as fully integrated Jews and Israelis? Look at Europe. Islam has taken over. France can't get a President witout an Islamist vote. U want that to happen in Israel, d only Jewish State in d world where Arabs are also ministers and senior parliamentarians? Israel will survive all this hatred. It didn't start wit the OP. Even South Africa has started its public display of hatred, followed yesterday by Denmark. But all you need to know is that the Zionist project depends on God, not on humans. Continue with the irrational hating. Why don't the fools comment on Syria which is killing its own? Or Egyptian Islamist dictatorships? Or Iranian stubborness and born desire to 'wipe Israel off d map'? Or Nigerian corruption? Why not leave d only Mid East democracy alone? |
@ BEAF: U lost today's intellectual fight. Ballabriggs definitely is more grounded on this than u are. Don't worry, even Joe will understand that u don't win everyday. Today u take d prize for daftness home. Try again next time. Cheers! |
@ Beaf: When someone starts a topic with "clueless id!ots," you sort of catch on the the person is the id!ot. Power to light homes accounts for 80% of domestic energy usage (I guess the id!ot OP thinks its his plasma TV tho). It is elementary math that energy saving bulbs which use much less power would do what the makers say on the tin, phucking save energy. Its like 2 + 2, but that evidently too hard for some mannerless people. When people rush out foolishly in public, without any facts or figures at hand, you know they are id!ots. ^^^^^ no, Beaf, after reading tru ur post, it is clear that u r d fool on display. When did u conduct ur 'study' to hv come up wit such puerile assertion that light-bulbs account for 80 % of electricity consumption in households in Nigeria? What is d basis of that hasty but nonetheless silly assertion? Sorry, we don't all live in d past where light was used just for lighting up d rooms. There are now so many household appliances that are staedily and daily in use in so many Nigerian households, even though not all. And d light bulbs sought to be distributed will also help small-scale businesses, abi? Will it significantly reduce d power consumption of factories too? Why do people like u like deceiving others? Is that d best use the subsidy money can be put to? Buying bulbs? U r a laugh! In case u forgot, we runa a market economy. Those tins r usually brought thru d free market with all d forces having played out. Y not remove taxes and duties for d importers of d energy-saving bulbs so dat d price will crash making it cheaper to buy? And y not 'beg' PHCN to install metres so that the cost of consuming such energy will be high n be punitively borne by d user? Instead they prefer to hv private bank accts where people pay estimated bills every month. Where on earth hv u seen that precedent? Pls, before u come on here and start blaabbing like a paid court fool, a simple rethink would do wonders for u. |
Now d encomiums keep pouring in torrential quantities. D eulogies are in avalanche mode. It is normal, especially here in Nigeria. But where were all these Yekini-lovers wen d guy was passing tru hard times? How come no one remembered him then? Y did d cash donations come after his death from 3 state govts? Why didn't they bring it so he cud use it to treat himself? Where is d house FG promised him 20 yrs ago? Who ever cared? And now he is dead: all of us are falling over ourselves to eulogize him. Yekini, u had no friends out here, simple. Not even me n certainly not all d Nigerians who don't give a darn until they hear of ur demise. U guys won't support living but poor national heroes now. Wen they hv died from neglect, sickness, and hunger, u'l start the charade all over again. |
Brother, I am very interested. My e-mail is brightmynds@yahoo.com. Thanks! |
This post is d most stupid post ever. Nigerian men shd be obsessed with who then? Na wa sef for some people o. So my father, my uncles, my brothers, our village Chiefs, all my male friends, even me, everybody for go Afghanistan go marry? Some tins just don't stimulate any level of intellectual activity and this is one of them. |
Why d unnecessary grumbling? From d way some guys make it look, it wud seem that d CBN has abolished all forms of paper money. No na. U can still deposit or withdraw up to #500k a day. How many of those old women deposit or withdraw up to dat amount everyday? If ur bizness exceeds that amount, u simply write a check na. Haba! Who said ur banking must be online? If someone wants to pay u above #500k, u accept a check. How many people sell pepper worth #500k a day? |
@ OP: PORT HARCOURT IS NOT AN EASTERN CITY. IT IS IN THE SOUTH-SOUTH OF NIGERIA. |
How e take affect the price of fish for market? Let him join Ogele Boys Inc. |
Highest foolery. Already at step 6 I have to subtract my date of birth. If I already know it what was d point? Same goes for my shoe size. If I know d two tins I set out to determine why shd I waste time on that rigmarole? Take ur time here o. Better find play go play. |
^^^^ That settles d mata. Oya, everyone, go home. E don do for today. |
@ Killz: Na the second to the last post u make na him make d highest sense ever. Now u r talking. She must suffer something in return so dat even if she is in another relationship, she will control her stupid anger. Why shd her own action be excused? I agree wit u for the very first time: he shd have left her witout beating her. But under one absolute condition: she MUST GO! That will serve as a punishment and psychological deterrent in future. But if she must stay, then her punishment will be that beating (maybe not so harshly). But there must be a punishment, no matter the form it takes. Saying she shd go free will encourage her to do worse. After all, she does not hold a monopoly on anger! |
The North has Boko Haram as a negotiating tool. The Niger Delta has MEND. They have resurfaced just to let the North know that they do not hv a monopoly of violence. But be that as it may, they shd limit themselves to blowing pipelines instead of wasting lives. I do not support that. |
^^^^^ @ Goldieluks. Don't get me wrong. If sometin is wrong, it is wrong. The act itself is wrong. No one condones it. What pisses me off is a lady thumping her chest and threatening fire and brimstone if it happened to her. And in my experience, such a one can do nothing. That is d point I am making. If we ar condemning it, fine and good. But it doesn't call for someone making unnecessary inflammatory statements as if she is Voltron or King Kong. See, these days film actor sef dey die, not to talk of someone who might not even afford to pursue her case to its logical conclusion. It is just like saying " ha, if someone ever touched my kid bro, I will kill d person'. The day he comes back with wounds, u ask him to take u to d bully who dared lay a finger on him, and wen u find out that it is d area bad guy who will dish it anyhow u want to eat it: wat will u do? Abeg leave matter! My quarrel, for record purposes, is wit those that thump their chests as if heaven will fall. I assure u it won't. Even if u succeed in sending d man to jail ( forgetting all the love u shared because he beat u) what if he comes out and serves u cold, well-planned, untraceable revenge? U see d endless possibility? Don't boast about wat u would hv done. U know d extent of ur strength; do u know mine? |
Oh! No, my osaze cannot be marid. These pix r fake.
