If it is forced on them by the mother, as the poster says, then it's completely wrong. |
Innocence of children who are just 2 or maybe three years old and the poster is raising an alarm. Na wao! |
Instances/incidences of women being ignorant about their pregnancy until time of delivery has been featured on television. it is mind boggling though. |
akossyy:Traditionally, it's the father's duty, however (based on what is posted here and is happening in here in the USA), others are calling for a change of guard. That I completely disagree, unless the father was not in the girl's life. |
frankkky:India is a 3rd world country and the gap between the rich and the poor is very wide, like that of Nigeria. Most Indians havent benefitted from the economic recovery of their country. Look at the number of beggars in that country. |
Few will be courageous to express regrets for moving abroad. |
Busy_body:Yeah, it is flawed! We are using the roof of a house as an example of the saying. You cant keep flogging a dead horse hoping that it would rise up. It wont happen. So, if the roof of the house collapses and you have done all what you can to replace it with the same thatch roof and it still leaks during the rainy season, you are at liberty to try a different option (zinc) instead of relying on straw mats. Sometimes, change is necessary/inevitable in one's life. Or would you rather, if you had been drinking herbal leaves to treat your headache to no avail and someone tells you "Panadol can do a better job," wouldnt you give that a shot? |
Funny and ridiculous question. (1 Tim 4 1:1-5) Now the Spirit explicitly says that in the last times some will turn away from the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and demonic instructions 2 through the hypocrisy of liars with branded consciences. 3 They forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected when received with thanksgiving, 5 for it is made holy by the invocation of God in prayer. 2 |
amor4ce:And if the roof is thatched and it's constantly leaking during the rainy season, should he still stick by replacing it constantly with thatch or replace the roof with zinc? It's a flawed proverb. Most times, people (like the house dweller who would discard a thatched roof in favor of Zinc ceiling because its better) move abroad for a better life. They are tired of constantly replacing the thatched roof over and over again. I love Nigeria very much, and no, I am not casting aspersions at it. What I am educating you is that the saying is flawed. People move abroad because they can leave a decent life. It's more challenging to live well in Nigeria unless you are highly favored or have connections. |
how can I post the pictures on facebook? |
It's perfectly understandable for your mom to walk you down the aisle if your father was out of the picture. background. My own is that so long as both parents are married to each other and live together, then having your mother ALONE would raise eyebrows, because it's usually a role reserved for the father of the bride. |
Why not? |
jango77:You are implying that since she is of age, she is free to disregard tradition. At the same time, you are contradicting yourself by stating that she needs her parents support. My question is, why would she need her parents support since she is of age? My take is that it is an exclusive honor reserved for the father as the head of the family, unless he wasnt a part of the girl's life, like a deadbeat. If he is deceased, then the mother of the bride can take the honors. |
Traditionally, it's father's responsibility to give out the bride in marriage. That cements his status as the Head of the family. If the man is deceased, then another male family member would take on that role. Nowadays, I have noticed a trend whereby, both parents have choosen to walk the lady down the aisle to her new husband. Its a bit dramatic if the girl unfortunately comes from a broken home and each of her parents have remarried. I have read of 'dilema's' presented by some of them on who should walk them down the aile. They would mention their devotion to their biological father and an attachment to their stepfather. And the reply would be that both should alternate the role, stop at midway, and let the other proceed to the altar. Another trend is when parents both walk her down the aile and formally give her out to the marriage. Would you support that? I am not being judgemental, and though I consider myself 'enlightened' on various norms, there are certain traditions that I hold unto dearly. That itself is an exclusive honor meant for me as the head of the family. |
Who is more popular of the two, Beyonce or Britney Spears? Spears is regarded as a teen pop idol, a phase that she hasnt even outgrown despite 2 marriages and 2 children. In the 90's or early 2000, she was adored in the press and popular with little girls. Beyonce is another popular star with a large following. She sang at the Obama's Inauguration (right?) won awards and is married to another popular star in the country. Still, who is more popular? |
One guy complained that it's a racist report against blacks because of the 'jaw dropping' emphasis. |
Weep not, Nigeria, America is the biggest debtor in the world. |
MzDarkSkin:Though it's an exception, Sade refused to collaborate with JayZ and she is still a success. Akon who is riding on the wave of popularity hasnt (in recent times) collaborated with an American artiste, so, there must be more to the lack of popularity of Nigerian music abroad. |
sexy 888:I wont be surprised if you are the same person as Segyemaro and Kenny888 ![]() |
tpia@:Dunno about Asians, but blacks, what's the problem? One guy said it's a racist report, but I feel that all this hiphop music and rap music which glorifies thug life, bling life and violence play a part. |
Aloy+Emeka:So, you condone adultery? |
Why is it locked? |
By Zachary Roth Buzz up!34 votes ShareretweetEmailPrintBy Zachary Roth zachary Roth – Wed Nov 10, 1:20 pm ET A new report has found that black boys lag behind their white counterparts in reading and math to an even greater extent than previously thought. The sponsor of the report -- the Council of the Great City Schools, an advocacy group for urban public schools -- calls the findings as "jaw-dropping." The study concluded that the school performance gap between black boys and white boys couldn't be chalked up to poverty alone. That could provide ammunition to those who argue that cultural factors, as opposed to economic forces, explain low educational performance among African-Americans. The study found that just 12 percent of black fourth-grade boys are proficient in reading, compared with 38 percent of white boys, the New York Times reports. Only 12 percent of black eighth-grade boys are proficient in math, compared with 44 percent of white boys. The report also says that black boys drop out of high school at nearly twice the rate of white boys, and have SAT scores that are 104 points lower, on average. Poverty isn't the sole explanation for the differences. The report found that poor white boys do as well at reading and math as non-poor black boys. That will give a boost to those who argue for the need to look at differences in culture and child-rearing techniques. That "culture of poverty" approach, championed by the late New York Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, has long been treated gingerly, out of concern that emphasizing cultural differences could be perceived as a form of racism. But it has been making a comeback of late. "There's accumulating evidence that there are racial differences in what kids experience before the first day of kindergarten," Ronald Ferguson, a Harvard University scholar who focuses on the racial achievement gap, told the Times. "They have to do with a lot of sociological and historical forces. In order to address those, we have to be able to have conversations that people are unwilling to have." Ferguson added that those conversations should include "the activities that parents conduct with their 2-, 3- and 4-year-olds. How much we talk to them, the ways we talk to them, the ways we enforce discipline, the ways we encourage them to think and develop a sense of autonomy." Hebrews 1:1-5 (English Standard Version) Hebrews 1 The Supremacy of God’s Son 1Long ago, at many times and(A) in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, 2but(B) in these last days(C) he has spoken to us by(D) his Son, whom he appointed(E) the heir of all things,(F) through whom also he created(G) the world. 3He is the radiance of the glory of God and(H) the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power.(I) After making purification for sins,(J) he sat down(K) at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4having become as much superior to angels as the name(L) he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. 5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, (M) "You are my Son, today I have begotten you"? None: He did not say that to Michael or the rest of the Angels. So, Jesus Christ is distinct from Michael. He, Jesus Christ, created Michael and the rest of the Angels. |

My classmate got another female classmate pregnant in school. This was a major scandal. |
Very funny, I still get a crack at this post of multiple Ids. ![]() |
Jesus Christ is not Michael the Archangel. Jude 1:9: Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!'' When Jesus Christ was tempted by the devil, here is what He said. Matthew 4:7: Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. |
Environer:I dont know about the govt of Mungo Park or Christopher Columbus, but his 'discovery' of America is very much celebrated till today in America. Are you suggesting that we do the same to Emegwali? |
