On Wednesday, soccer’s showpiece event will make them enemies for 90 minutes. But when the tournament is over, it will help bring them back together again.

At Soccer City, on the edge of Soweto, the Boatengs will become the first pair of brothers to play on opposite sides in a World Cup match when Germany faces Ghana.

Jerome is a midfielder with Germany. Kevin-Prince plays in attack for Ghana. They haven’t spoken in a month.

The Boatengs grew up in Berlin and are actually half-brothers, with a common father who hails from Ghana. They each were brought up by their mothers, separately, but were inseparable throughout childhood and into the early stages of their professional soccer careers.

That all changed on May 15, when Kevin-Prince hacked down Germany captain Michael Ballack while playing for Portsmouth against Chelsea in the English FA Cup final. The tackle ruptured Ballack’s ankle ligaments, ruled him out of the tournament and infuriated the German nation.

Ballack is a national hero in Germany and was seen as being crucial to the country’s hopes of tasting glory in South Africa this summer. The depth of negative feeling was such that German fans in Johannesburg have been spotted with T-shirts reading: “Wanted Dead or Alive – Kevin-Prince Boateng.”

Jerome Boateng publicly defended Kevin-Prince from the criticism but angered his brother by saying the tackle warranted a red card.

“We have not spoken since,” Kevin-Prince Boateng said. “I wasn’t happy about that and I said we should go our separate ways. But after the game I will see him, I will hug him and I will shake his hand. It is the World Cup. It is a good time to put things behind you.”

Jerome is quieter and more unassuming than his brother. He is soft spoken and doesn’t much care for the spotlight. Kevin-Prince likes fast cars, controversial Tunisian rap music and has tattoos covering much of his body.

Both men had the option to play for Germany or Ghana, with Kevin-Prince opting for the African nation after complaining about limited opportunities in his homeland.

If Serbia beats Australia in the other Group D match, held simultaneously, then it will be impossible for both brothers to qualify for the knockout stage. For one of them, the dream will end in the very venue where this tournament began and where it will end on July 11.

“Strange things happen within families,” Jerome Boateng said. “In any family there will be times when people have problems and issues – and that is what happened with us.

“I think and hope that it will sort itself out. We have always been close. He is my brother. I wish him all the best, always.

“We had a difference of opinion about something that happened in football. I don’t think this is going to last forever, I think we are going to fix this.”

You've likely gotten one of those e-mails from Nigeria where someone writes that you've got money coming if you just wire money.

A Connecticut woman apparently fell victim to the scheme and had been swindled out more than $150,000 dollars when she notified she authorities, GreenvilleOnline.com reports.

This week, the man police say is behind the scheme is in a South Carolina jail.

Kenneth Ojua, who is originally from Nigeria and has been living in the United States for 14 years, was arraigned on May 13 in a federal courthouse in Greenville, South Carolina, the Web site reports.

Assistant U.S. Attorney William Watkins Jr. says Ojua passed himself off as an "African diplomat" and he and another person promised the Connecticut woman $15 million if she paid Ojua a "storage fee."

Watkins calls it an international e-mail scheme and that story has been featured on NBC's Dateline.

Police discovered Ojua is The indictment says the scheme dates back to November 2006.

Here's how it happened, officials said: the defendants apparently concocted a story an American family who died in a car crash in Africa and $15 million that no one else could claim, the Web site reports.

When Dateline reported the story, they showed a log Ojua kept in his apartment that reportedly includes hundreds of potential victims from all across the country and the amounts of money each person sent.

Today, the federal prosecutor will seek to keep Ojua in jail while awaiting trial.

He has been charged with wire fraud according to GreenvilleOnline.com.

To let you know that traditional marriage cannot be overlooked, no man of God will join you if you have not paid your wife's bride price. As for me I did only traditional marriage because I was equipped with understanding of my culture, guess what, i paid only N24 as bride price cos that is what will pay in my area (Benin). only that there was enough drinks and food. I[[/b]b] challenge even the president of America to confront me and say she is not my wife because i didn't do church and court marriage. Let us wake up and embrace our culture. So many guys are afraid to settle down because they are afraid of the amount required to do all "these marriages"
The president of the USA has a whole lot on his plate to be bothered about the legality of your marriage.

though a traditional marriage is valid nd recognised by law it is not enforceable, so it realy doesnt natter if u do it b4 or after d court marriage!!!!!
It's legal in the Nigerian society, and accepted worldwide. But women who still insist on it, (and boycot the white wedding) are leaving doors open to a rival coming in as the second wife. Since, unlike white wedding, traditional marriage gives the man the go-ahead to bring in an additional wife.

It is very unfortunate that this generation has forgotten our culture, court marriage is oyinbo kind of marriage, we have our kind of marriage which traditional, i did only traditional because i believed that the most important aspet of marriage is that you able to pay your wife's bride price.
All these court or church wedding are ways of wasting fund, after your traditional wedding seek a pastor's blessing shekena! When Jesus went to Gallilee for a wedding was it in the church?

This my take on this.
Since you are convinced that traditional marriage is the only aspect that legalizes the marriage, why then would you want your pastor (of the Christian faith) to bless your marriage. Dont you see the contradition?

I think it happens in America, particularly when the man knows he is dying and confides in his friend and his wife about his wishes for them to be together if they are compatible. It boils down to trust. Sometimes men, knowing their friends would want to commit to their wife to a trust worthy friend.

Lets not downgrade this Fiona lady, she IS beautiful.
In my case, I picked Miss Oklahoma USA, I thought she was the finest, and was disappointed that she took the 2nd position. Some bloggers do agree with my pick too.

Among the MBGN contestants, from what I observed, Miss Lagos was the finest!

CareerRe: Average Salary For A Lawyer In A Law Firm In Nigeria by Ndipe(m): 3:56am On May 26, 2010
lawyer:
My first salary was N8,000 for like 6 months and i moved to a swankier law firm in Ikoyi and they upgraded it to N15,000 Per month and after 2 months i realised that it wasnt worth it and old lawyers dont want younger lawyers to progress and in between they encourage a lot of sharp malpractice to woo in clients at the young lawyers expense. After that i realised that its not how long but how well and ended up setting up my own. The moment i did that, my older principals started congratulating me as being a smart guy and now they see me as their colleague.

Its a terrible system here and you just have to be smart and try and work towards establishing on your own in the nearest future unless these old lawyers wont encourage you for the life of it. Anyway the reason you are collecting that little amount is for the experience and to train you to be  self sufficient! Thats one of the reason i never liked Gani Fahwenhimi because his chambers was one of the pioneering firms that started this nonsense of undervaluing lawyers and paying them N5,000. Its just cheap labour and slavery in my own opinion and even the chief justice cannot justify such a wicked practice.
When I read the salary the man paid is lawyers (which he told a journalist), I was just flabbergasted. The amount was paltry, but now, I have to figure out if it's the norm in Nigeria for lawyers to be underpaid. How about going in-house?

Well, legally and morally (especially if there was no infidelity), you can marry her, but still, you wont be able to contain rumors that there was nothing going on during the duration of the marriage.

I dont accept racism, yet, I'd have to ask you, how about those are simply uncomfortable with others, due to bad experiences earned from their dealings with members of their ethnic group? Would that be classified as racism too, even if there exists no ill-will, but simply discomfort?

Your best friend is dead, leaving behind a young widow with kids. You are currently single and there is a mutual attraction. Should you attempt to date and if there is a connection, marry her, or transfer your feelings to another eligible single woman?
