Okupe said in an interview last Saturday that the AIT interview was done before Mandela died and that he never made the statement. Interestingly, AIT has refused to rebroadcast the interview or make it available on Youtube or any other platform. Why has the said interview suddenly become a secret recording that is no loger available anywhere? Okupe should put this issue to rest by asking that the interview be rebroadcast or a copy made available to the pulic, if he has nothing to hide. We will continue to believe that he made the statement until we see a rebroadcast. shi kena. |
atlwireles: http://media.premiumtimesng.com/dev/wp-content/files/2013/12/state-IGR-Tables-2010_2012.pdfI am not disputing your numbers. I am simply adding that Lagos and Sokoto are the leading states in relative "fiscal independence" measured by internally generated revenue (IGR) as a percentage of total revenue. What is shameful about this, it is simply a fact that is indisputable. Abi you are a slowpoke ni? |
atlwireles:Why? Abuja — Lagos and surprisingly Sokoto are the leading states in relative "fiscal independence" measured by internally generated revenue (IGR) as a percentage of total revenue. |
Those are CBN numbers and they are not in conflict with your statement about lagos state. There is no need for your tantrum, facts and numbers don't lie as you stated. |
atlwireles: Numbers don't lie. I hope we never hear any kind of internet propaganda on IGRs on this forum anymore. Delta no dey carry lastYou are absolutely correct, numbers don't lie. According to Central Bank's data, Lagos is also No. 1. when you look at IGR as a percent of total revenue. This is quite commendable. Other states don't maintain their ranking when you look at both data. See below: www.nairaland.com/attachments/1455153_CUsersA949824DesktopIGR_jpg65e5091588d59934a89a745a099dc6a7 |
These Reps are senseless. $79 benchmark, when there are predictions out there which include oil prices of $50 per barrel lets hope they have plans of causing yawa in the middle east to cause the price to remain high. mumus |
So you want to come home and eat Rice and Chicken during Xmas. What is your beef with commercial airlines, you can come first class na. |
Frankly, I wouldn't call this structure an Airport, most of such structures in Nigeria are actually Aerodromes or simply landing strips. |
Seun or to whom it may concern: There appears to be a sorting problem or a we now have couple of sticky threads at the bottom of the first page in the Politics section and possibly a few others. You may want to have your developers take a look, unless you've implemented a "bottom' sticky idea. This is what I see at the bottom of the first page (Page 0): www.nairaland.com/attachments/1456007_CUsersA949824Desktop1_jpg3650dfbe9d39997bf08cb35e53656ea6 Note that the threads after the Bola Tinubu thread seem out of place and appear as stickies. When you go to the next page, the first thread displayed is the Bola Tinubu thread as shown below. www.nairaland.com/attachments/1456008_CUsersA949824Desktop2_jpgb15ea51cd1308be980a8737f240e00a0 The Bola Tinubu thread may not be what you see on the second page because new posts or threads may have been made since I made my graphics, but the last 4 posts/threads continue to appear as 'bottom' stickies on the first page. Please ignore if my observations are unfounded |
@Onlytruth, Eze m, Where did you copy that info from? That is most definitely not your original material is it? dem say make animals wey get horns identify themselves, snail (Onlytruth) sef show up. Wonders shall never end. ![]() Jokes aside, your posts here are quite cool. |
Sincere 9gerian: The observation by Seun and OAM4J could have been made behind the scene/privately.I agree with you on the bolded above. There may be more to that than meets the eyes. I am not convinced that there is any trend towards pro-APC as far as FP material is concerned. Mukina2 who is responsible for placing 90% of the threads on the FP is not even a Nigerian and does not carry the weight of tribal and political bias of many Nigerians. There are avenues for suggesting threads for the FP, which you, I, and several other NLers have used to make requests, and many of our requests have been met, regardless of whether the posts are Pro-APC , Pro-PDP, or Pro-Any other political party. As far as the Okupe thread which is the subject of this thread is concerned, I don't see anything wrong with its presense on the FP. Many people heard the statement attributed to Okupe on the TV and have so stated. The thread will soon die a natural death, so lets not sweat it. Eze NL Gburugburu, I see you watching, kedu ije, nwanne m? ![]() |
OAM4J: Seun, havent we had enough drama to last us a month with Sexkillz's issue? Why creating a new one?OAM4J, In fairness, Seun did not blame Mukina2 for placing the Okupe thread on the FP. Seun was responding to a post by VICTORCIZA, and that post was complaining about front page items generally, and not specifically the Okupe's dumb thread. Mukina was mentioned, I think, because she is primarily responsible for FP material. Biko, lock this thread or send it to the trash can. One trauma a day is enough. ![]() |
atlwireles: I laugh at stu pid people, you are free to dance naked, that nah your wahala. My question still stands, why is FIRS reporting N45b as IGR for year 2012 for delta. When the states of Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Osun and Ekiti combined have less. All your attempts to spin will not change this fact. Simply give me an answer or take a hike.Despite your childish name calling, I am willing to learn from you and I pledge not to stoop to the level of calling you names, for now. Please tell us the sources of Delta State's IGR apart from taxes from oil companies which are operating in the state. I'd appreciate if you could also provide the % of the IGR, which is not based on the mentioned taxes. If you don't know, please say so. I believe the answer to my question may reveal the answer to your question "why is FIRS reporting N45b as IGR for year 2012 for delta." I'm not here to engage in childish tribal or personal fights. |
atlwireles: Oya compare tablesYou dey laugh? You've been busted, buster! ![]() |
Whereas, news outlets can be muscled by Okupe and his agents to suspending the rebroadcast of unflattering comments they've made on TV, no one has the power to do the same to esteemed Nairalanders who heard the comments and posted the same here. The beauty of NL lies in the fact that news, which otherwise are prevented from being publicized, are allowed to be posted here freely. TV stations have 100s of clips daily, and they will not put all the clips, including the one of Okupe's booboo, on you tube. If Oshiomole had been recorded by a Nigerian news outlet, I bet you, the widow clip would have been prevented from going viral. Thankfully Nairalanders were able to pounce on the news and forced Oshiomole to do the right thing. Th OP will do better to advise Okupe to watch his tongue. No one can bully NLers. |
I'm not sure what the OP is trying to prove, but the posted statistics does not show that Delta state is any more efficient at generating revenues other than the handouts they receive from the Feds and the associated taxes which are also directly related to the oil industry. If the idea is to measure which states are well positioned to be self sustaining assuming oil dries up, then Delta state will be in the bottom half of the statistics. A better way to rate these states would be to look at the IGR as a % of total revenues. Here is that statistics below, reach your own conclusions. As expected Lagos State remain at the top. You be the judge. P.S. Bayelsa's performance is very shameful. www.nairaland.com/attachments/1455153_CUsersA949824DesktopIGR_jpg65e5091588d59934a89a745a099dc6a7 |
atlwireles: You have to defined onshore/offshore dichotomy before I reply you. All proceeds after 200 nautical miles are shared equally. What esle do you want.If you do not believe that all offshore waterways belong to Nigeria as a whole, then you need to have your head examined. No state boundary extends offshore, or are you saying that your state boundaries now extend 200 nautical miles offshore? Fairness will only come when ALL offshore proceeds are shared equally. You are already compensated for onshore resources, why do you want to continue cheating the rest of the country? abeg make we hear word. This issue is ripe for revisiting and sooner or later, corections will be made. |
Katsumoto: I read it three times just to be sure there wasn't something I was missing.ngwanu www.nairaland.com/attachments/229503_ROFLMAODog_gif3fa44b12f55ba64fc785c3a5794ba92e |
tensor777: Old guy that is not quite it. In fact we have two categories of Fulani. Namely the town Fulani who formed part of the ruling class up north and subsequently intermarried with the indigenous Hausa, and the Country Fulani who are Nomadic Herdsmen and have kept their distinct identity more or less.Bigots who are filled with hate atimes do not their own identities, let alone those of the people they hate. That is how evil forces work. SMH @Mr. Gull, you may be on to something in your last post. |
Katsumoto: First things firstSource please. ![]() |
tensor777: Fine But I am trying hard to understand a point you made. How did the Gowon-Awolowo regime of 1967-1971 prosecute the war against Ojukwu without borrowing a penny. Was it with crude oil revenue or with cocoa revenue. I am not saying that all the government expenditure was derived from oil but that the extra spending brought about by the war was financed by crude oil receiptsI prefer the position that crude oil receipts were used to finance none-war needs, and only the proceeds from groundnut and cotton financed the war. dis one na semantics. |
tensor777: As reasonable as this posts looks, there is far too too much vagueness and utopianism for me to pass it off as a wise post. The current revenue sharing formula is indeed unfair. With the existing 13% derivation, the abrogation of the onshore/offshore dichotomy during the Obasanjo regime had created a wide gap in revenues between oil producing and non-oil producing states. In my view the restoration of the abrogated onshore/offshore dichotomy would make the formular fairer. I'll leave it at that, to avoid derailing this thread and you can agree to disagree with me if you wish. tensor777: Going over to regionalism how many regions? 4 or 6 or 12? How would they be different from what we had in the past and what would stop the minority tribes in these regions from feeling aggrieved at ethnic domination. In a situation of true regionalism or confederation there would be no federal police to keep order. What would stop ethnic agitation from spiralling out of control?Maybe regionalism is not the ultimate answer, but in my opinion, the status quo is unacceptable. I think you'd agree with me that there is room for much improvement in the so-called federal police. I'd prefer state and local police, but I fear that our society may not be quite ready for local policing. ACM10: Kai Mallam!I assumed that you may have been infested by Onlytruth's paranoia, much like Sam_Ikenna was, but it appears that your emotional IQ may have risen instead. dalu nu nwanne m. |
@ACM10, I did not think I'll see you agreeing with the following statement without throwing a tantrum or yelling revisionism. You seem to be coming around. ![]() tensor777: Anyway the Gowon-Ojukwu imbroglio of 1967-70 was all about oil despite appearances to the contrary that it was about a tribal conflict. |
tensor777: And why do you say that? What are the alternatives? And no it cannot be a return to Regionalism and 1960s style ethnic domination. The minorities won't stand for it and don't forget they constitute almost half Nigeria's 150 miliion population. Are you prepared for another round of savage bloodletting which would signal the end of Africa as a viable living space.I am not suggesting any kind of ethnic domination - far from it. It is clear to me that there is way too much power in the center, the revenue sharing formula is grossly unfair, and the resource control scheme needs modification e.t.c. If we can address these issues under the current structure, that would be great, if not, we may need to try a different structure. I admit that we need good leadership more than we do restructuring because if we restructure, or even disintegrate while we keep the bad/myopic leaders in place, it would be a fruitless exercise. |
mad nigerian: Good morning.....and commiserations to the thread on the passing of Nelson Mandela. This MAD in this poster's userid must mean 'angry' as opposed to 'insane' This poster sounds quite reasonable to me. |
Katsumoto: And how did Achebe even stand up to the FG? By rejecting the award given to him? How many times was Achebe imprisoned? How many times was his house or car shot at? Standing up for principles when you are thousands of miles away is not the same thing as living in the same country with Abacha, IBB, Mustapha, Sergeant Rogers, etc.^100% Nigeria as currently constituted cannot survive much longer. I believe restructuring comes with less risk than disintegration and should be vigorously pursued. More importantly, issue of myopic leadership in Nigeria must be solved for any of the choice of governance to work successfully. |
RIP Sir |
