Ngwakwe: Don't even try to debate out your ethnocentric ignorance. Tell SLS that his apology was rejected by Nigerians.

You are not ashamed that your CBN Governor is invoking unsubstantiated figures to score political points thereby exposing his limitations.

Mallam Sanusi Lamido political letter was just showcasing why quota system should be totally abolished.
You shameless jobbers keep trying to shift the focus of threads to useless issues. Keep it up, readers see through your antics.

For me, the bottom line is that, the unconscionable level of unremitted funds to the Federal Government and the underlying corrupt and possible fraud involved, has been exposed by Sanusi. Even Iweala confirms that NNPC alone has at least $10BILLION unremitted!!! These facts cannot be changed no matter how hard you try to introduce tribalism into the matter. Many fools do not understand that the thieves hail for the North, South, East, and West.

We must demand accountability from all government agencies and we now know that GEJ's way of dealing with this problem is to form another committee or task force. We know how successful his task forces and committees have been in the past. SMH

Ngwakwe: What is this one saying?

Are you blind to seeing the Op hypocrisy in alluding Sanusi's letter to the President necessitated the move by FG to setup this committee?

Ndu_chucks was trying to deny FG the praise it deserve.
You keep trying hard to show that you are a dummie, but I'm not yet ready to accept that, I think you are just a pretender. Pray tell, why weren't task forces or committees set up to recover unremitted funds uncovered during audits in the past 4 year! If you believe that the timing of this committee's formation is unrelated to Sanusi's letter, then you may very well be a dummy.
Politics › Re: FG Inaugurates Panel To Recover Unremitted Revenues by nduchucks(op): 2:19pm On Dec 21, 2013
Ngwakwe: I thought the FG initiated the Audit and not Sanusi Lamido.

Moreover, this is not the first and wouldn't be the last.

Below is November, 2012 commission.
You are beginning to sound like a dummie though I think you are simply pretending to be daft. Why must the government form a committee every year to do what should be done routinely? You missed the point that unremmited funds uncovered by previous audit findings remain unremitted even after the audit findings. This committee was not set up to perform any audit but to recover unremitted funds including the one uncovered by Sanusi.

The Feds know that after Sanusi's public exposé and yansh opening, they have to act, hence the formation of this committee. Get with the program and hope that the committee suceeeds.

taharqa: Do you even know what constitute d bulk of d monies that NEITI want remitted/paid to d FG ie who are d main 'debtors'? And do you know d time period the NEITI reports audited?.... Guy, go rear cattle or smtin joor if you are too bored this clear Saturday morning
I am not one of those you can confuse by pretending to be well informed, when you are simply a low level jobber. This is not about debt collection by NEITT, mumu. The committee was set up and will consist of inter-ministerial task teams for the recovery of all outstanding revenues due to the Federal Government from audit findings.

You should wish the team success. Your granstanding here is useless.
Politics › FG Inaugurates Panel To Recover Unremitted Revenues by nduchucks(op): 9:09am On Dec 21, 2013
Hopefully, NNPC will be forced to cough out the billions of dollars they've been commandeering and other guilty government agencies will do the same. Without Sanusi's brave action, this wouldn't have happened - they can't sweep this under the carpet.

I wonder why it took Sanusi's letter for these incompetent thieves to realize that transparency is necessary in the management of the nation’s abundant extractive resources. Duk barawo banza.

The Federal Government yesterday inaugurated an inter-ministerial task team to recover all unremitted revenues discovered from audit findings.

The move was proposed to government by the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).

Inaugurating the committee in Abuja, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim, maintained that Nigeria signed up to the initiative based on the clear conviction that transparency in the management of the nation’s abundant extractive resources will boost government’s efforts to reduce poverty, sustain development, social harmony and better investment climate.

Stressing that the Federal Government fully supports the regular audit and prompt implementation of issues that may arise, he charged the reconstituted task team to work closely with NEITI with a view to ensuring prompt recovery of all outstanding revenues due to the Federal Government from audit findings.

The chairman of the task team, Ledum Mitee, said the reports are not intended to witch-hunt”.

The President's handlers are dumber than I thought since they believe that INEC is the authority on the constitutionsl question of whether there is division in PDP. What INEC stated was that it did not recognize a faction within PDP, but that's a far cry from saying that there is no division within the party.

What do you call 5 Governors, 37 Reps, and over a dozen Senators, abandoning PDP for APC? Would any same person call that cohesion and togetherness within PDP? There is obvious division within the PDP party and that is what is required to constitutionally switch to a different party. GEJ will fail again as he will soon find out that he has not only lost support in the legislative branch, but also in the judiciary. mumu

Politics › Re: Nigeria’s Economy Largest In Africa As Rebasing Boosts GDP To $405bn by nduchucks: 12:14am On Dec 21, 2013
Kairoseki77: Without getting too technical, a key part of how we calculate our GDP is by looking at a "base year" and then seeing how much things have changed since then.

Most countries update this "base year" every five years. Pretty much every country does actually.

Nigeria's current base year is 1990. Or 23 years ago!

When the base year is too old, the GDP calculations will always be wrong.

To develop a base year requires hard work, you have to survey they entire country and try to piece together the size of the entire economy.

PS - Ghana recently changed her base year from 1993 to 2006, and their GDP "grew" by 60%. This doesn't mean that their economy actually grew, it just means that their GDP calculations are now more accurate. The old calculations were missing 60% of the economy. No one became richer, the numbers were just off.
Your explanation is appreciated, thanks a lot. Given some of the responses, one would have thought that the possible higher GDP figure would have been due to exceptional overseeing of the economy by the current administration and a reflection of significant economic growth.

kmariko: Nigeria’s economy largest in Africa as rebasing boosts GDP to $405bn

December 19, 2013 | Filed under: main story | Author: PATRICK ATUANYA

In about three weeks from now, when the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) releases the rebased Gross Domestic Product (GDP) it will show that Nigeria has overtaken South Africa as Africa’s largest economy, which will have great economic and geopolitical implications.
Being that I am not an economist, may I humbly ask the economists in the house to explain to me why the Nigerian National Bureau of statistics find it necessary to rebase the GDP before announcing the figure? What were the GDP numbers before the said rebassing?

To me this is a very important question and until the economists in the house explain this to me, I remain unwilling to accept that we have overtaken South Africa.

It is a known fact around the world that Nigeria has enjoyed some of the highest economic growth rates in the past 14 - 16 years or so. It pains me to the core that we have a government which enables monumental levels of theft with impunity - just imagine where our economy would be if these thieves are not positioned to steal the billions of dollars they currently do.

Nwanne m, GEJ and his thieving advisers must go, they would have spent 6 years in office by 2015. Enough is enough.

Mr. Gull, you forgot to add people from the SS and SE to your list of thieves and dingbats who are the close associates of GEJ's. The question is why? You are typically quite honest, what happened to you?

You can call Sanusi names, but no one has ever accused him of being a thief. Here's a man who clinched the 2013 Central Bank Governor Award for Sub-Saharan Africa at the just-concluded World bank/International Monetary Fund (IMF) Summit in Washington, DC. United States; he also won the 2013 Emerging Markets Central Bank Governor of the Year Award for Sub-Saharan Africa. Sanusi had received various commendation on the outstanding work in the past years in sustaining reforms; ensuring macroeconomic stability, protecting the independence of the Central Bank and enhancing many aspects of Nigerian Banking adoption of new technologies for financial inclusion; continuous modernization and more transparent disclosures including adopting higher reporting standards to banks.

If you call such a man a thief, then please what would you call Minister Stella Oduah, Asari-Dokubo, Tompolo, and several other close associates of GEJ's.

Most NLers know my position on GEJ. I continue to believe that he is a very good man with a good heart, but is surrounded by the biggest thieves Nigeria has ever encountered. He has proved to be a weaklin who is incapable of ruling the Nigerian people.

After OBJ's letter, more people became emboldened and I thought the e-threats, e-insults, and e-condemnations hauled at GEJ became excessive so I called upon NLers to observe a truce until year's end so that our weaklin of a President will not have a heart attack.

I do not want to believe that you are an intellectual midget who is unable to comprehend my write-ups and put them in the right perspectives, because if I did that, I'd be wrong. Well meaning Nigerians should acknowledge GEJ's right to contest in a free and fair election, under normal conditions. GEJ has however made current conditions abnormal. Having realized that he may not win the primaries in his PDP, GEJ proceeded to use the old coot, Tukur, to change party rules, while attempting to thwart attempts by PDP governors who might oppose him in the said primaries.

GEJ did not stop there, we know how he has been fighting Amaechi and other PDP governors. GEJ's anti democratic and selfish moves have ultimately destroyed his PDP, a party which was built by many many, now angry heavy weights.

Is this man worth fighting for in the name of democracy? I say NO. GEJ has done himself in, PDP governors are abandoning him, Reps and Senators have left him and his PDP, the Nigerian people have also left him, though he does not yet realize it.

The condition which exists today in Nigeria is the same kind we saw during the period when Nigerians welcomed regime changes via coup. This time the coup may not be carried out by the millitary but by the Nigerian people. Adios GEJ.

It is instructive that the only people who continue to e-support GEJ are from the part of Nigeria where GEJ supposedly won 90 - 99% of the votes in 2011 by blatant rigging.

The good news is, GEJ and his cohorts will be the last set of thieving politicians to rule Nigeria. I can sense the hand of providence in this matter, Nigeria is poised to become great in the very near future. cool

So, Jonathan who has been the ONLY Nigerian CIVILIAN president with a democratic style is now being made to look like the problem with Nigeria.

For me, it is a test of leadership balls. If Jonathan wants to be humiliated out of office, let him continue playing "good boy" to idiots with no conscience. I shall abandon him too if I see that he lacks balls to deal with some idiots in Nigeria.
Who wants to support a weakling in a fight of life and death?

I personally believe that Nigeria should not last past the conference, unless minorities have accepted to be slaves in Nigeria.
Words of wisdom come from Eze this time. I'm sorry to say that our President is a very decent and good human being, but he is weaker than a weaklin and unfit to rule this great country. His silence since the OBJ letter is deafening. to be honest, if he were to round up IBB, OBJ, and a few more rougues and locked them up, sack 2 or more Ministers who are giving him a bad name and declare a total war on corruption, he'd get my support, your support, international support, and will become a instant hero. DerideGull: Mr. chucks,

Have you recently heard what your boy, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, is saying about the goofy letter he allegedly wrote to the President about the so-called missing $50 billion from crude oil proceeds?
Mr. Gull, Sanusi takes responsibilities for his actions unlike some Ministers and government officials. He revised his numbers and we Nigerians, owe him gratitude for exposing the fact that NNPC has still not remitted $12billion to the CBN as required by law.

Now that some of those thieves are being quarantined and the stolen assets recovered and shared fairly, you are here crying wolf.
The truth remains that Nigeria is yet to recover even 10% of stolen assets handed over to thieves in the North and their international puppeteers.
By God's grace we shall recover ALL of them.
Eze, this tactic of yours is old and ineffective. Your logic is that since OBJ stole in the past, we must ignore GEJ's stealing today - this is senseless and dumb. All the mofos belong in jail as far as I am concerned. For now GEJ is the President so the focus is on him

Is there anyone else who doubts that GEJ is finished?

Note how Tinubu has sort of taken a back seat and allowed Buhari to be the fase of APC. Buhari has been making pronoucements such as "We will meet with OBJ" etc. Tinubu is turning out to be a very savvy and smart politician who understands that he has some baggages which his enemies can use to fight APC if Tinubu were the face of APC or its presidential candidate.

I believe Jagaban Borgu may be one of the most powerful politicians in Nigeria today. GEJ has alienated every well meaning supporter and he continues to present himself as the President of the SS/SE or Ijaws alone. GEJ and his crew have been selling off national assets to their cronies and believe they can renegotiate the oil block contracts whereby, they will move the same to their cronies, come 2016.

His handlers have grossly miscalculated and will pay dearly for their miscalculations.

We continue to watch the Dangotes and the Odetolas of Nigeria; if those guys shift allegiance from GEJ, then GEJ may not make it to 2015 as our President.

Abagworo: I agree with you. Left to Jonathan he'll clean up the system and right the wrongs but will his wife let him?
I also truly hope that GEJ cleans up the system as a result of recent events. Unfortunately, I doubt he'll be able to do so given the facts that election campaigning will start in 2014, the national conference ia planned for 2014, and the PDP has lost control of NASS.

If he can still clean up the system given these realities, then OBJ would have been one of the people to cause that change, so OBJ will still deserve the Person of the year award, as far as I am concerned.
Politics › 2013 Person Of The Year - Olusegun Mathew Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo GCFR by nduchucks(op):
Truth is this former President changed the course of Nigerian history by writing the famous letter to President Goodluck Ebele jonathan. Ever since that letter became public, the remaining goodwill GEJ has with the majority of Nigerians has vanished.

OBJ has singlehandedly driven the last stake into the heart of GEJ's second term ambition. There has been massive defection by Reps and Senators from PDP to APC and the PDP is now in the minority in both houses, rendering the opportunity for impeachment, a very real reality.

Obasanjo has started a Tsunami which I do not believe GEJ can survive. If I were close to GEJ or were one of his loved ones, I'd beg him to resign gracefully or agree not to seek a second term.

So for me, Olusegun Mathew Okikiola Aremu Obasanjọ GCFR is the Person Of Year.

Compliments of the sesason to all.

Mr. Gull,

What was posted about Onitsha took place way back in the 1920s. I'd be more worried and grossed out by the practice of cannibalism which still takes place with impunity in the South West.

In the SW we still have the ancient and obnoxious practice of mutilating the bodies of traditional rulers after death. The rituals and sacrifices which parts of the body of a dead king, especially in Western Nigeria, are used for are barbaric and a disgrace to the country in this 21st century. These evil practices which are not in consonant with the will of God and against the fundamental human rights of the affected traditional rulers and are worse than the events of Onitsha of the 1920s.

Today, in 2013, when a king dies, they say they have to give his heart to his successor on the throne to eat. They explained that it will make the new king strong and courageous but, is that not deceit? How can eating somebody’s flesh give courage to another person? They mutilate the remains of these kings and engage in fetish and obnoxious activities which add no value to anybody or the society in general. Barbarians!!
