My preferred line up would look like this

VDS, Oshea, Evra, Rio, Vidic, Park, Ando, Carrick, Tevez, Ronaldo, Rooney.
But with news filtering in that Tevez might start on the bench, i forsee SAF playing Giggs instead of Tevez.

If barca sticks to the Puyol-Pique-Yaya-Sylvinho back four, then i see a roller-coaster ride for our strikers provided Ando, Park and Carrick run then Xavi ragged.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: UCL Final: Man United(0) Vs Barcelona(2) On Wednesday 27th May by ndumart: 5:59pm On May 26, 2009
Lets look at it this way!

In post, VDS is better than Valdes

Alves isnt playing, that gives Rooney lesser stress whoever he comes against.Oshea not my favourite but he can still hold his own playing aginst a half-fit Henry or Iniesta.

Evra can stop Messi on any day and with contributions from Rooney, Messi will be neutralized. Keita should start for Barca on the LFB position and it will be even squaring against Park.

Rio and Vidic are the best defensive pairing in Europe and will stop any threat from Eto and Co. Puyol and Pique can hold their own on a good day but CR7 should be too much for either of them if SAF decides that he spearheads the attack.

It will be even in the Midfield with any team that can keep possesssion likely to run out winners. But i see an Anderson running Barca's Midfielders ragged with assistance from Giggs and Carrick. Xavi, Yaya, Iniesta or whichever three he plays in the middle would find it difficult if Man U raise the intensity of the game.

It would be a close one to call but i will give it to MU cos experience comes to play in issues like this. A 1-0 in favour of Man U or 2-1 still for MU. Whatever be the case, even if it drags to PKs, i still see Man U prevailing.

Evra vs Abidal. Evra all the way.

With regards to the issue of Boro, N'castle and Sunderland going to court if Hull beats Man U, i cant but laugh. Its really ridiculous. How do u describe a first team?

What right does those teams have in going to court if Hull wins?

We can field our best 11 and still lose to Hull. Does that make any difference?

We played AV with a central defensive pairing of Gary and Oshea and nobody raised an eyebrow?

We played a strong team and lost to both liverpool and fulham.

All i have to say is "we shall see in court"
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Arsenal Fan Thread: For Gunners Only by ndumart: 6:23pm On May 19, 2009
Ade like other players under-performed this season and should not be singled out for blame. Gallas, RVP, Toure, Clichy, Sagna, Fab and others have all had their low moments over the season. The fact that Ade speaks his mind does not mean he cares less about Arsenal. he has undoubtedly been the best striker Arsenal has in the past 2 seasons.

Lack of trophies is frustrating to players and ade isnt any exception. He wants to win trophies and if Arsenal cant guarantee him that, what do u expect?

Should Ade be in a Club like MU, Barca or Chelsea, where he is guaranteed of at least a trophy in 2 seasons, he wont be complaining always. Give the young man a breather plzzzzzzzzz

Gerrard won the Player of the year award.
Carrick was not even on the cards.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Champions Of England! by ndumart: 2:44pm On May 14, 2009
If Gerrard were to be in Man Utd, he would have won what Carrick has. If u add the goals Gerrard notches up in a season then u will know what that means to a team.Anyday, i would choose Gerrard over Carrick What G adds to a team, Carrick does not. Am sure all England coaches cant be that blind by choosing Gerrard/Lampard over Carrick. A fit Hargreaves is even better than Carrick.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Champions Of England! by ndumart: 2:24pm On May 14, 2009
@Sauron
Despite being a united fan, i will go for Gerrard over Carrick for many obvious reasons.

As for Berba and Tev, Berba is class-act no doubt and his contributions are appreciated. However, methinks the average united fan prefers Tev to Berba. Berba has started more matches than Tev this season and as such is expected to have made more impact than Tev.

This time last season, with the Rooney/Ronaldo/Tevez partnership, we have scored more goals, individually and as a unit.
This season however, with the inclusion of Berba, we have lesser goals albeit more points. We even played better footie last season than this term.

These guys bring diff things to the team, berba brings composure and calmness, while Tev brings urgency and purposefulness.

All in all , if SAF can keep those guys happy, no probs, buy making Tev the sacrificial lamb among the quartet is what i dont fancy. Besides, why the delay in making his deal permanent?

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Champions Of England! by ndumart: 1:31pm On May 14, 2009
What Tevez brings to the United team, Berbatov does not. Tevez is hungrier and more dedicated. He is a fighter anyday. He charges his teammates to action. He can run for the duration of the game. He may not be a clinical finisher but his goals have been of immense importance these two seasons he has stayed with us. This time last season Ronaldo was on almost 40 goals, Ronaldo and Tevez on 20+. That was the Holy Trinity era. Now Berba comes along and Tev drops to the bench, Rooney flunged to the flanks and the goals diminish. Ronaldo on a paltry 26 goals, Rooney and Tevez yet to notch up to 20 each.

IMO, out frontline was deadlier last term when compared to this season. That means Berba distorted the rhyme among the Holy trinity.

Yes, Tev is too costly for 30+ milla, but i dont see that as a problem. If he can get Berba for such amount why not Tev. Or better still sell of Nani and pay for Tev. We need him. The fans want him, his teammates need him, what is SAF waiting for?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Champions Of England! by ndumart: 7:07pm On May 12, 2009
Truth be said, CT is a good player and has done really well in his time at MU. he has scored decisive goals for us and keeps doing it. He is a thorough professional. His introduction against spurs changed the face of the game and ensured we won, but CT is too costly for that amount.

However, i still pray he stays. I prefer him to Benzema.

Again, i doubt that.

Jubril Cisse is a fashion faux pax. He is an apology.

TEAM-MATE TALES: RYAN GIGGS

The record-breaking Red reveals all,

Who is, the most intelligent Red?
Apart from me?! Probably Nev [Gary Neville]. He’s like a politician, and will argue everything. Even if he is wrong, he’ll tell you he’s right. He always has something to say.

Funniest player?
Patrice [Evra]. He’s full of practical jokes and little one-liners, and a great person to have around the changing room.

Best-dressed team-mate?
Patrice again probably! He’s head to toe in Dolce & Gabbana, he does all his shopping in Monaco and Milan, and is always smart, even in his tracksuit.

What about the worst dressed…?

[Another long pause] Cristiano [Ronaldo]. No reason, but it will upset him so I thought I’d say it! He tries hard every day…

Who is the best player in training?
Paul Scholes - you just can’t get the ball off him. He’s a great passer of the ball, he has a great range. He works hard but he also manages to make it look easy – which everyone would love to be able to do.

And the worst? [Long pause] Erm, you don’t really get bad trainers at this club. But I’ll say Anderson – only because he’s carefree, relaxed and tries things out, but he doesn’t ever take himself too seriously.

Who’d make it into your Reds five-a-side team?
Alongside me I’d have Rio, Scholesy, Cristiano and Wayne Rooney. In that side you’ve got goalscorers, the backbone in Rio, people who can keep the ball, pace and power – just a bit of everything.

How do i qualify JM's negativity? His kind of football is not inspiring when placed side by side with Man U, Arsenal, Barca etc. He has this win-at-all-cost mentality. he keeps it tight at the back and hope for a break upfront.

Honestly, i feel chelsea surprised pundits in the 04/05 season cos nobody gave them a chance considering their antecedents prior to that season. (No EPL title in 50 years, they have rarely been a threat in the UCL, even being knocked out by Monaco in the 03/04 season). Their success that season was a one-off.

That is not taking away anything from JM. He is one of the coaches in the higher rungs when it comes to success but the question is Does JM's philosophy fit in to ours?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Forever Reds by ndumart: 12:28pm On Mar 31, 2009
Mourinho? Thats an invitation to negative football. We might as well lose our skillful players. The guy fits into Man U with regards to successes recorded but when considering the style of play, men, we do not need a JM.

Hughes? Let him succeed at Man City first with all the resources at his disposal.

O'neill? He needs to cut his managerial teeth big time b4 being considered.

Ancelotti? A no-no. When was the last time he won the serie A? He lacks the tactical noose to succeed in the EPL.

Abeg, let SAF continue.

Invisible

I stand to be challenged. The 3 matches Man U have lost this season has been down th shabby defending. On a good day, no TEAM can breach United's defence line and end up winning that game.
Our loss to liverpool early in the season was due to shabby defending courtesy of VDS, Brown and Giggs.
Our loss to Arsenal was partly due to Gary Neville. U could see everything changed with the intro of Rafael.
Our defeat last week was also due to Poor defending. Liverpool were only lucky to be beneficiaries of shoddy defending over the two legs. That notwithstanding, Catch us if u can.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Forever Reds by ndumart: 1:06pm On Mar 17, 2009
Man U loses and the noise refuses to die down. The reason being that we hardly lose. The defeat to Liverpool would only serve as the tonic we need to realize we have not won the league yet. That defeat would only spur us to win the EPL in style.

The league is ours to lose.

PATRICE EVRA'S TEAM-MATE TALES

United's flying French full-back spills the beans about his colleagues at Carrington,

Who's the best trainer? - Hmmm… Ji-sung Park. He’s full of energy and runs around just like he does in every game. He’s difficult to play against in training because sometimes you don’t know where he is and you lose him. One minute he’s behind you, the next he’s somewhere else, he’s like a ghost!

And the worst trainer? - [Long pause] Oh, I know, Tony Strudwick, our fitness coach! [Laughs].

Who is your most intelligent team-mate? - That’s an easy one, Edwin van der Sar. He’s got a lot of experience and knows a lot about different things - he’s a very clever guy. He’s great to play alongside because he helps you with your positioning.

Who's the funniest player? - I’d say Nani. He’s a great guy, a strong player who always trains hard, but someone who also likes to have a laugh.

Who are the best and worst dressed players in the team? - I'm going to say Tomasz Kuszczak for best dressed. If he was still here I would have said Louis Saha for worst dressed but instead I’ll go for Tomasz Kuszczak, again! One day he’s the best dressed, the next day he’s the worst!

Who's got the best taste in music? - That’s easy - me! I like every type of music from R & B to hiphop to rock. I try to look after the music in the dressing room and keep everyone happy
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Manchester United Fan Thread: Forever Reds by ndumart: 9:49pm On Mar 07, 2009
These guys are unstoppable.
We are monopolising the EPL and this is grossly unfair.

The fear of Man U has become the beginning of wisdom.

Chelsea, Arsenal or Everton/Boro must be praying to avoid Man U.
Only we can stop ourselves right now.

Match on boys
