Business › Re: Going Into Lending Business- Wish Me Well. by nedekid: 1:44pm On May 31, 2025
Op, Nigerians don't pay igbese, it is in our dna. My late papa warned about lending money, he gave us gist of when he was young those days in yaba, his friend one half cast guy borrowed some money from him and dropped his guitar as collateral. Luckily my grandad was around and told my dad to get a written note from the borrower. Time to pay reached, the borrower did not bring the money rather he went to police station to report this guitar stollen and that there was someone he suspected. Na so police land house to arrest popsi. Dad took the letter along and showed them at the police station, that was what saved his arse.
Bros you have to be a "strong" man to run such business if not it is better to squander the money, eat it anyhow at least you know it was you that wasted it than to bear the pain of that money disappearing and another person enjoyed it. Lol

Officer Ugo deserves a National Award! He must be included in the next national honours list. And he must earn automatic promotion to the next level!

He demonstrated a strong commitment to basic human values! Blood money is tainted money. Don't do it!
While he must be commended and celebrated for doing well, only a stupid person would have collected any money from that criminal to set him free. His accounts would have been under watch by security agencies, imagine a 10m transfer to someone. Note also when he is eventually arrested and interrogated he will mention the officer he bribed.

Travel › Re: Life In Asaba Keeps Getting Expensive by nedekid:
Yeah Asaba seems to be a cool calm place, enjoyable when there is money in the pocket. Transportation is expensive especially as they buy fuel at more cost than Lagos. Average bolt ride cost me 10k ie from airport to hotel. I visited a couple of times last year.
As per hotel yes they seem quite pricey for what you can easily get in Lagos for less especially for the average - 1 to 1 star hotel. I think you get a better bargain for higher end hotels. Eg my hotel of choice is best western elomaz on dbs road, a bargain considering staying in a hotel of that standard in Lagos. I use to pay 55k last year for one of the entry level rooms, omo the pool side is where all the correct chicks from all over the SE and beyond hangout (if you know what I mean). If no room at elomaz then spring hill hotel (50k) opposite elomaz is the next place of choice.
The good thing about those two hotels is their complimentary breakfast buffet, that saves you cost of feeding in the mornings.
For regular meals I go out to get authentic local chops at mamas kitchen on dls road, a drop by chartered tricycle is 1k unlike when I was a novice and getting bolt ride for 5k lol.
Meals at mamas kitchen cost me like 4k with water, not bad compared to hotel food.
All in all, Asaba is not too bad expenses wise, to stay in a hotel like best western in Lagos, you likely will cough out well over 150k.

grin

Oga felt too comfortable that he took the country's money to build himself an Estate over 700 buildings. Developer!!!

Greed can turn a wiseman to a fool.
In fairness to the guy he ought to the opportunity to prove how he was able to acquire such property. He should have his say which is his right, afterall it is not illegal to own property. What if he financed the place through loans or other income? Afterall he rose to the peak ie in the banking industry before becoming cbn governor. If eg he had 5% zenith bank share he liquidated nko? Wount it build that estate?
I am not defending corruption, but if he says he has interest in that estate, he should present his case, simple. Efcc or icpc should then show evidence from their investigation that the source of money used to build that estate was from so so and so money they discovered to be missing traced to him and used for construction.
Truth of the matter is that 90% of gov officials cannot backup their assets with evidence of legitimate verifiable earnings. It is called wealth without enterprise. Can oga at the top show or prove his source of wealth? Even the officers investigating go and check out their assets if their income supports it.

Politics › Re: We Have Made Undeniable Progress In Two Years - Bola Tinubu by nedekid: 8:16am On May 29, 2025
Redman44:
Tinubu should be using the power in his hands now to launch an Agricultural revolution in the southwest of Nigeria. The Southwest can become the food belt of Nigeria. We have the land and man power to achieve that. The North should not be allowed to dominate in food production. Cheers.
Na only food we go chop? No wonder he spoke with a dismissive wave of the hand that all the youths need is cassava, ewa, beans and doodooo..
Well look at humans, when left with nothing, they revert back to the basic animal needs which is food. Lion, dog, cat, monkey etc all they live life for is food. Instinct is to fill the belly. Lol.

This is true sha, even though the progress is greatly exaggerated.
What is true?
The man is just deceiving himself, as for his followers the are living in delusion, suffering, seeing monumental poverty, heavy decline of their purchasing power yet chose to believe in his failed policies aka reforms. How can he say achievement has been made when businesses are closed daily, non conducive environment, has the quality of life of you and I improved in any facet? Families are been broken because husbands come home weekly or worse still monthly due to high cost of commute, even upper class Nigerians will never know what a new car smells like not to talk of middle class. A $2500 scrap 25 year old car will cost a Nigerian minimum of N10m to purchase. Two years ago ticket for two flying Qatar was 900k, today it is 4m and this baba has the guts to say progress is been made? Yes progress in his family and close political associates maybe.
As my favorite quote from OBJ goes, if a farmer plants 10 heaps of corm and claims to have planted 50 heaps, on the day of harvest, he will harvest 10 heaps and 40 lies.

Politics › Re: Nigeria’s Debt Heads For N180trn As Tinubu Seeks N34trn New Loans by nedekid: 3:44pm On May 28, 2025
Just as was once said the money of a state is not enough for a certain individual so nothing he wants there.
Lagos despite all it's revenue, and other potentials was immensed in debt from 1999 till fasholas time. Ambode came in and did more than both previous governors did, the only difference is he did not add debt rather plugged all loopholes. I know because I had a young man friend that was a civil servant, joined service during late babas or early fasholas period. Dude dropped cash money for house delivered to him "turnkey". Lifestyle very very high. Meets a chick back then and drops 200k as hi money. Omo when Ambode came in all those free cash ended. Dude had to change his lifestyle to survive on salary.
My point is that some people cannot manage money, they have not ran business to know how to turn N1 to N2. At every instance it is loan, debt. They cannot cut expenses, do not know how to manage what you have, turn around money then run capital expenses through profit.
Naija is currently like your friend that you earn the same salary, are both bachelors with the same running cost, but he is always in debt to paylater, Opay, easmoney etc. He borrows to buy new TV, washing machine, to play betnaija, to buy petrol, run generator, to carry olosho, chop npobi and 34k fish and chips at cubana.

Rubyjade:
Bro… relax. You're acting like you showed her your bank app and she morphed into Thanos.

1. Not Every Woman is a Villain in a Netflix Drama
Not every woman is sitting there, rubbing her hands together like, “Once I see that last zero… he’s finished.”
Some just want to know if you can split dinner or afford to fix that one squeaky door in your apartment.

2. Financial Disclosure Isn't a Horror Film
You’re acting like telling her your balance is like summoning a demon.
It’s not an exorcism, it’s adulting. If you're dating someone seriously, finances will come up. Eventually, she’s gonna notice that your “savings plan” is just a jar labeled “DO NOT TOUCH (unless emergency snacks).”

3. Plot Twist: A Lot of Women Are Balling
2025 called—they said many women are earning their own bags and don’t need yours.
In fact, some of them are looking at your account balance like:

“You know what? We’ll build… together.”
Or worse: “Sir, please leave the table. We don’t split bills under $10.”

4. You Might Just Have Trust Issues, Not Riches
If your account has $1,287.43 and you're guarding it like it’s Fort Knox, maybe it's not women you don’t trust—it’s math.
Let’s not act like every woman’s a gold digger when there’s not enough gold to dig.

5. Your Vibe Attracts Your Tribe
If you're always checking if someone’s after your wallet, you might miss someone who was after your heart.
Try attracting people who vibe with your energy—not just your income bracket. Because guess what? If she’s a real one, she’ll roll with you whether you’re ballin’… or budgeting.

In conclusion
Tell her your balance if you want. If she runs—she did you a favor. If she stays—you might’ve just found your MVP. Either way, the right one isn’t looking for the end of your account… she’s looking to build with you.

Now go fix your online banking password. Not because of her—because you probably forgot it again.
Oga don't show your woman your Acct balance period! Even if she is Mary magdaline, Mary or angel that drop from heaven.

However unfortunate, this accident happens wherever there is manufacturing.
We shouldn’t shut down factories because someone died. Over 40,000 people died in china last year alone due to manufacturing accidents. Similar happens in Germany, USA etc
We should enforce safety laws, and ensure compensation to families of victims.

Accidents happen in attempts to industrialise.
Exactly.
