Siasia gives up on Obi By Oluwashina Okeleji BBC Sport, Lagos Siasia has run out of patience with Obi Nigeria coach Samson Siasia says there is no place for Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi in his Olympic squad. The 20-year-old has been severely criticised for failing to honour invitations during the 2008 Olympic football qualifiers. His failure to show up for the crucial qualifier against South Africa last month has infuriated Siasia. And now the former Super Eagle has decided to leave the youngster out of his Beijing team. "There has been so much talk surrounding Mikel and I think it is just an unwanted distraction at this point," Siasia told BBC Sport. "I have announced a provisional squad for the Olympics and he is not among those I considered. We have to move on to another level. "He was not there during the qualifiers and the team made it without him, so I still have strong faith in the players I have available. "As a coach I have taken a decision and I will stand by it." Siasia who has also named six Super Eagles players in his provisional squad admitted the team need all their quality players, but only those who are committed. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/7339358.stm |
There is nothing poverty cannot do. Why kill an old man/your father over common land? The kind of crimes men commit in Nigeria baffles me atimes. No woman will kill a parent over material things. |
Children strangulate octogenarian father over land proceeds By Ademola Oni, Abeokuta Two children of a 75-year-old man on Monday in Abeokuta strangulated their father, owing to their displeasure over the sharing formula of the of the proceeds from the sale of land. The suspects, Seun, popularly called President, and Seye, who are now being detained at the state police command, allegedly killed their father, Pa Timothy Ogunbayo, with a rope tied around his neck in the man‘s room at Tekobo, Abeokuta. The late Ogunbayo was said to have sold a land in Ibafo town, on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, and had shared the money among his four children. Seun and Seye were said to be dissatisfied with the sharing formula employed by their father. The deceased was said to have returned home after hawking his herbal products in the community on Monday when the children confronted him and demanded more of the proceeds. Our correspondent learnt that Seun, who owns a barbing salon in front of the father‘s house, contacted his brother on the telephone, informing him of the arrival of their father. They were said to have met the man, who was having his lunch of fried yam in his eight-room apartment. Seun and Seye, after listening to the father that he had used the rest of the money to buy materials for the renovation of the house, wrestled Pa Ogunbayo to the ground, tied rope around his neck and ensured the old man breathed his last before dropping his lifeless body in his room. Residents, however, suspected that something had gone wrong when the movements of the brothers became uncoordinated and raised the alarm. http://odili.net/news/source/2008/apr/9/420.html |

Uncle sege is at work. May God help Nigeria. |
I don't think she left. press need to stop spreading and spoiling peoples name. She has not been convicted either. Are you Iyabo under an alias? What other proof do you need to convict that bandit? |
by bigfather,The lord? You claim to have a wife, what will you do sexually when she eventually hit menopause in the near future since you want to continue poking to the end of time? |
25 the age limit for women to get married? Heyyy i guess im an old maid at 28 eh? Beautiful and smart, have a lot to offer, but an old maid.Don't mind them sweetie. Under the new law, a 28 yr old woman is still an underage. |
How many times should a woman forgive her cheating husband/boyfriend before divorcing/breaking up with him? once, as many as possible or no forgiveness at all? |
4me all foods r unhealthy according to all that is been posted here to the extent that someone said that "92% of Nigerian foods are unhealthy!" so what do we do then?Lol, this is so hilarious. I think Nigerian foods are healthy because they are not genetically modified. It's only the fast food joints that are springing up everywhere that is the problem. |
yaradua is just trying to annihilate the yorubas. |
By Bawomolo,Don't act like you don't know what is going on. Check yaradua and his EFCC list and count the westerners there, then come back and tell me what you observed. They even brainwashed Obasanjo and that was why he dealth with the likes of Tafa Balogun and left his other northern counterparts. Are they untouchable? |
Needlelady or whatever, carry your tribalistic thread out of here.Didn't you read the opening remark? Girls are barred from this thread. I don't think that women are well qualified to pass any judgement here without being biased. |
What about the other tribes? The Urhobos, Ijaw, Itsekiri, Calabar/Efik, Tiv, Ndokwa, Isoko, edo/Benin. Are those ones not Nigerians? Are we doing just WAZOBIA Here?I m entioned the three ethnic groups because those are the only three used to identify Nigeria even in the diaspora, thats why the Naira note has only three languages inscribed on them. It does not mean that others are not preety or nothing but it's a majority and minority issue, |
This is for guys alone(and me alone as the thread moderator of course): Which one of these group of Nigerian women are generally very beautiful: Ibo girls , yoruba girls or Hausa girls?. Which ones are generally more sexy?(No tribalism please, it's just a fun thread). |
By Seguno2,Others are not as big as Grange and Iyabo that are yoruba. It seems the whole yoruba women in yaraduas govt are being uprooted one by one and I think he has a hand in the recent wars in Oyo govt. I am not against arresting any civil servant that steals money but try and balance it out and not just concentrating in one region. Abacha did the same during his days before God stopped him and it seems another Northerner is following suit. Also, check the religion of those westerners they target. I'm not even envying the northerners like that because with all their ruling in Nigeria, the southerners still have a better life than them. The last time they had education statistics in Nigeria The west scored 60% literacy rate, south east was 58%, south south was 40% and the ruling north was 11% and the reverse is the poverty rate. i don't know whether any of you will remember that when shehu shagari called on obasanjo to help educate the north. |
I have even heard somewhere that Usman (Finance Minister) is proposing a reversal of the bank consolidation because itHow did bank consolidation favour southerners over Northerners? The one that would've affected the northerners was Soludos decimalisation of Naira which may succesfully ruin the black market business and that is the main business of the alhajis. Of course, they blocked it. |
The success gap is toooooo much!!Are you saying they are not on the same level? It's only in Naija that things like this matter anyway because it's no story in the US besides, he may be making more from his bearded goat business than the so called banker. How much does these Nigerian bankers make anyway, $2000 a month? that does not sound like good money to me. |
She's surely a cat with nine lives. Who knows? she may be chilling in the UK now. |
There you go again ! Where in the thread did you read that the sexual life span of a woman ends at 30 ?I hope you know that menopause simply means a woman cannot lay eggs anymore and not a woman cannot have sex again? |
I will go you one better, here are two articles of people who committed crimes in Japan or america and notice how they are addressedpraytell. |
oh please, before sanitary pads wer invented nko? didnt people use cloth and manage themselves, oh please these money making fools should spare me d b*llsh*t. As I am writing my volvic water bottle says 1L = 10L for Africa. If not that volvic is the only water that doesnt taste of chalk I would have latered their @$$e$. fools,Very soon, MTN, celtel etc will join the band wagon and their slogan will be: For every minute call you make, you'll be donating N1 to the kanu nwanko heart foundation or hunger fighting foundation of Nigeria. |
Pataki, I understand your stand given our past history regarding "fighting corruption", but it appears Yar 'AduaI like the way Iyabo was chjarged but i suspect a little tribalism in these arrests because it seems that Yaradua is only concentrating on westerners. Again, the speed at which they arrest and arraign erring women in the Nigerian govt makes me wonder whether men that commited the same crime are treated the same way. |
In my opinion, let a separate NGO be funded transparently to whatever extent P&G wants, without these sales pitches, and then see what will happen. American Idol asks people to give for a good cause, it doesn't say until you watch our show, we won't do anything. I do not support these mixed business+charity approaches for reasons I've outlined. Some people will benefit no doubt, but I fear this is more about corporate profits and milking people's sympathy rather than any genuine drive to make a difference. I honestly hope I am wrong, but I doubt it.ditto |
And this is not even about the man's ancestry, if anyone took time to read, would be clear that this debate is not about where the man came from as it was initially made. The report itself does not unfairly focus on his being a Nigerian even more than other reports on other criminals do, so I don't understand why someone would run crying discrimination when this is not about where the man came from but more what the man did and where and why it is not just the every day crime spree( if any ) in Japan as this man happens to be a foreigner WORKINg for the USA Navy. I have seen the reports on this story on the cable channels and the main issue has been the problem some people have with US presence in Japan and how this adds salt to the problems the navy has over there. Can you draw a sample sketch on how journalists would've reported the case if he is American? |
My paternal grandparent (now deceased) was living proof on high sexual drive despite of their age just like you have seen a movie called "Boomerang"(1992, protrayed Eddie Murphy, Robin Givens, Halle Berry---where Eddie's his best friend in movie brought his parent for dinner invitation)---it was so hiliarous that reminded of my paternal grandparent.Go girl, get 'em!. I don't know why some Nigerian men thinks the sexual life span of a woman ends at 30. |
Is that what we elected him to do? reality shows? first it was planting stupid cameras for thieves around lagos and now it's reality show. Does he think he's Ben Bruce the 2nd or D1? |
Look, you and I will never know for certain what he may be mentally strong enough to handle. Fact remains he confessed, according to the article, and his lawyers ,who are not even psychiatrists, asked him to plead insanity. I am not sure if you know, that seems to been the latest trend out here. I have seen and read of a lot of these court cases to understand that a lot of the people who plead insanity, in my view are not. I personally have found myself in situations where I have considered murder but I have also in those situations been able to control myself. Not all schitzophrenic people or people who hear voices resort to violence or doing exactly what those voices say they do.You and I know the degre of injustice in the far East and how they torture supposed criminals to the point of death. I'm sure he would've received a better treatment if not for his lineage. |
