marriages between swingers actually last longer than those of "normal" couples.

Do you have any evidence to prove this theory? Does that mean that our parents that have 'closed' marriages were not that 'closed' afterall and their marriage lasted because they were engaged in extramarital affairs?

I personally have little hairs all over the above mentioned.  I do see few ladies/women especially from the Eastern parts of Naija do grow little beards too

I just wonder why there must be a tribal comment in everything we write here. How does  hormonal imbalance relate with  only people from Eastern nigeria? It's everywhere and I recommend you see your physician so he/she can recommend a little hormonete therapy(assuming you are truly a woman because what happens these days is some men who desire to become transexuals visit the doctor as women and request for those things even though it's a legal practice to an extent here, so, why lie about it?).

Or even, pull out method as STD and pregnancy control methods. WOW. I am amazed that you know what is better for africans than the people actually stepping up to help give these women a better opportunity in life do.

Again, instead of being quick to judge those who are actually trying to do something about a problem that you for one seem to have no knowledge of it's existence,I would ask or urge you to please take a trip throught your africa to discover fact from fiction. Have you ever wondered how women living in refugee camps around the world deal with their periods?? I mean, please try. They are living in cramped spaces and their periods do not actually say " Oh, I will not come cause you are living in a refugee camp" and how do you think they cope with these things when they fled their homes with barely nothing?? Just a thought. I mean many of these women get an opportunity to go to school on some of these refugee camps. Do you think that to them their period is like walking up to the mystery supermarket on the refugee camp to purchase these sanitary products with money they magically get??

Please, get out there and see what life really is in your africa. It is my request of you women especially cause it is too easy to assume that what you find easy to deal with also comes easy for all women. I have in my time here in America met my share of ladies and guys from even africa who do not have good habits when it comes to cleanliness. I remember having to teach some people as an africa that they need to brush at least once a day so as to help reduce mouth of odour. I have even had to teach one or two about the wonders of DEODORANT and you think that all persons automatically know of PADS and stuff like this ?? Instead of coming at this from the SHAME-FILLED persons perspective, maybe you should try being more human and understand that not all AFRICANS are like you, with all that knowledge of how things work and what is available to help with what.

Why is the lack of toilet not affecting African boys too or don't boys use the loo?

You do realize that you may have been able to afford toilet roll but not everyone is able to afford that in Africa and definitely not everyone shares the same experiences as you do.  I am glad you were able to afford that but I, from experience remember when we could not even afford toilet roll to wipe out butts with in my house, let alone toilet roll to be used for periods in  my house. Still, you all do not speak for all African women and I still say that instead of criticizing efforts to help those that YOU YOURSELF HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO HELP or have little clue of, you should maybe shut up and just allow those who can to do WHAT THEY CAN HOWEVER they can.

Recently, the issue of open marriage is becoming a source of concern to most western spouses because they suspect it's polygamy in disguise. It involves the both parties to seek sexual gratification elsewhere as long as the other partner knows about it. I've read in some subpar tabloids about celebrities like Will Smith and Jada that are involved in that kind of marriage claiming it strenghtens their relationship. Do you think it's another lousy way for cheating partners to exhale and sleep around or do you subscribe to the idea?

If they want to donate pads to these girls, then great. But to open the thought of girls missing school because of it to this part of the world is not proper.

If you see some living out here that recently travelled back home, the kind of information they give you about the Nigerian environment may make you swear not to go there in your life but when I went home last month, it wasn't as bad as they put it out to be.

You don't have to thrash somebody because you are helping him/her.  We've had charity organisations in every part of Africa and I've never seen any of them that turned it into a business making venture. If you think Always gives a damn about those girls, then you have another think coming.  Cooperate organisations are very mean in a capitalist world and can do anything within the law to make money off people. It's not the 1 cent they are donating, it's the principle behind it that is irking me.

Finally, Paris Hilton spoilt her gory image overtime but recently, Lionsgate is trying to make money off her by announcing she's involved in charity and feeding the hungry in Africa. It's only Africa that seems to be at the receiving end of this lions when some South American countries are pooerer than the poorest place in Africa. Will they use that as a business venture? No, because most Americans know they are not as hopeless as the media puts it out.  You may also be rejoicing they are giving you refurbished pads, also check  its  negative impact on investments and torists in African nations. Most unsuspecting people wouldn't  want to visit a famine,accursed and disease stricken land the media put it out to be.

Senators to move Iyabo’s resignation motion next week


There is no sign of reprieve yet for the embattled Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello as feelers emerged in Abuja yesterday that some senators are planning to move a motion for her resignation as committee chair when the Senate resumes plenary on Tuesday, next week.

Senator Obasanjo-Bello and the Health Committee had been named as beneficiaries of the diverted N300 million unspent votes in the 2007 budget of the Health Ministry over which the two Ministers in the Ministry, Professor Adenike Grange and Architect Gabriel Aduku had resigned from President Umar Yar’ Adua’s cabinet.

The Committee had reportedly benefited N10 million in sponsorship of a seminar to build capacity for legislators to handle the National Health Bill.

The seminar which took place in Ghana in February was attended by eleven of the thirteen members of the Committee.

Senators George Akume and Chimaroke Nnamani did not attend the seminar for which the former Minister reportedly approved and released N10 million to the Committee in consultation with Senator Obasanjo-Bello.

THISDAY gathered yesterday that Senator Obasanjo-Bello may be compelled to leave the chamber prelude to the debate of the motion, which as learnt, would call for her resignation.

But if she puts up a spirited defence, she may be allowed to sit in the chamber and watch while her colleagues decide her fate.

But the contention in some circles in the Senate is that she should be given a fair hearing by referring the matter to the appropriate committee of the Senate for investigation before a final decision is taken on her matter.

It was argued yesterday that if the Senate decides to refer the matter to the Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petition headed by Senator Hambagda, she will have the opportunity to defend herself.

THISDAY gathered that the plot to have her lose her seat as Health Committee chairman was being perfected by a group of Senators mainly from the Northern part of the country.

A source in the Senate confirmed that other members from the Southern part are being lobbied to support the impending motion.

The group, as gathered yesterday, is working quietly to actualize its agenda which it sees as a necessary move to expose the hypocrisy of the anti-corruption crusade trumpeted by her father while in the saddle as President.

It would be recalled that former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara resigned his position over the N55-million-bribe-for-budget scandal on April 5, 2005 to enable him defend himself against the charge of corruption.

His resignation followed the national broadcast on the issue by former President Obasanjo.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator John Azuta Mbata had also resigned his chairmanship position of the committee for his involvement in the budget scam.

THISDAY gathered that senators are insisting that Senator Obasanjo-Bello must resign having admitted in a newspaper report that she collected the money from the Ministry.
