The story of the farmer and the nomad is a metaphor for the beginnings of mankind.  Cain represented a state of being that was different from that of Abel, even though the two were siblings.  To the extent that Cain was very faithful and held fast to his beliefs, he did so in a very pure and total worship, not believing in anything else. He was completely good and in a cleansed state of being and was not sinful.  Isolated and uncontaminated.  Similarly, Abel was very committed to his nomadic life and had no doubts in his abilities to manage the elements to best use for his flock.  He existed with pure and penetrating passion for adventure.  

What we are told by the scriptures is that Cain killed Abel. Not knowing what to do with the body, he watched as a raven scratched the ground open with its claws to bury its dead prey. . .Cain took lesson from that. Abel had no children when he died.  Cain lived many years after and had many children.  Before his death he was both a farmer and a nomad. . . taking the flocks into the wilderness when rain was lean and boost in harvest was not promised.

Up to this point, there has been two breakthrough moments in human history. The first is the tranformation in Adam and Eve gaining the capacity of mind. The second is the transformation of mankind from a state of purity to that of uncleanliness.

The fact that a raven would be the teacher is itself significant. Ravens are unclean birds - carrions-, they are scavengers but reputed to be intelligent birds with capabilities for problem solving.  So intelligence in its puritan state was killed and symbolically an unclean intelligent creature appeared on the scene to lead the way.  What does this mean?

It means that a sinless Cain has awakened a new knowledge within his spirit.  He now has the ability for both sinless and sinful actions.  To put in a more friendly way, he has awakened willpower - the capability for making choices; good or bad.  

Twice now mankind has taken itself from purity and bliss and encountered breakthrough points . . .stages of new birth where new awareness taught him new abilities and gave him strengths.  

An ignited (passionate) mind combusted (fueled) by dynamic impulses will soon begin to break down his environment to find meaning.  The steps that he takes to find the meaning require the application of intellect.  Therefore intelligence is simply a process. . . the process by which our mind, will, is given surge to investigate our sorroundings.  The outcome of that investigation then becomes our knowledge. . .an affirmation of truth or falsehood. . .reinforcing the innate nature in our spirit.  

There is another stage beyond this and that would be a look into the progeny of Cain. . .there are two natures in Cain himself - that of the Faithful and of the Adventurer.  The races black and white are distinctly inheritors, respectively, of these traits.

Blacks are quick to seek the face of God when faced with a tragedy.  We refuse to utilize the environment to our benefits, we continually set limitations and are fearful of expansions. . .choosing instead to wait for a day when God will reward us for our unwavering faith.  We live simply and revere life.

Whites on the other hand  do not see limitations, they exploit whatever they can find in the environment and will pause only when it is apparent that they have reached a point of diminished returns and risk loosing all they have. They do not wait for God. . . they prospect and explore with risks, living dangerously in contempt for life. . . especially that of other people.

All humans have intelligence regardless of race. . . and we all have understanding and knowledge but the nature spirit of is different along racial boundaries.

I've been thinking and really thinking. First a recent report ranking NL among the top 200 forums globally and a subscriber base of nearly half a million users. what is the economic value of nairaland?

I was joking with a friend recently that overall viewpoints and popular decisions on this forum can be channelled to appropriate quarters. I believe it can be done subtly and gradually incrementally ultimately moving this forum from arm-chair critiquing to a formidable and influential pressure group.

This is the age of the media evolution. this forum is well positioned to cause a desired change all it takes folks is BELIEF.

If I were Seun I would call a meeting/teleconference with my moderators and stake holders to ponder on this thought. This need brainstorming.

The critical questions to ask are these:

1. Does Niaraland have the potential to influence political and economic change in Nigeria?

The initial discuss is to see if the seed can be planted or not. The logistics to make it fruitful will occur in followup meetings.

2. Given its ranking and cultural relevance, Nairaland should spin off a commercial portal for subscribed customers. Given your current staffing level and coverage is that feasible. . . what are the system and user requirements needed to make it happen?

His crops are always at high yield during harvest and he and his family enjoy great feast with gratitude to God. The farmer believes his prosperity is the result of the cosmic energy in his sorrounding landscape. That the river, the sun, the soil, the mountains. . .individually radiate an essence which makes it possible for him to enjoy this prosperity and safety in his household. So he worships the elements. Now, because they are fixed and cannot be packed along for a move, the question of relocating scares him, for fear the distance would attenuate their protective divine power over him and he would no longer enjoy wealth at the new location. So he resolved never to move. Meanwhile, whenever he is faced with a misfortune he would think the gods are not pleased with him and so he will begin to offer rituals and sacrifice to appease them. Never examining, exploring, questioning, probing, querying, speculating. . . the farmer remains a prisoner of his fears.

The other man, the nomad. . . he is a wanderer. He travels light, careful not to amass posessions that could end up becoming liability on his journeys. He travels to the East, to the West, to the North, to the South. . .to the wherever he and his flock would find sustenance. Along the way, he meets with different cultures and different people. He is greeted with different seasons and different elements. He faces lean times and prosperous times. His god is wherever he is at. . . packed along in his soul. When conditions are not good, he has to make a decision what to do next. Choosing the wrong thing to do could perish all he is got, few as they are! At all times, he is alert pondering what lays ahead. When a sheep is sick he must examine and isolate the cause to protect the rest of the flock. When his family is tired and need rest he must weigh the cost of arriving late at the next village, if they dont make it before sunset they will be locked outside the gate and risk attack from marauders.

Im not sure guys understand the pain of a fist punch on a woman. Equally, I'm not sure women understand the damage of a nagging tongue on guys. In both cases there is abuse. Sometimes abuse is what makes a relationship rock. . just make sure you can take what you dish out before becoming lifelong partners.

Tropical adaptations in tropical regions of the world.

There is nothing in racial classification called TROPICAL ADAPTATION! Tropical adaptation is climatic and not genetic. Racial heredity through blood does not adapt to climate, unless there is a deliberate intrusion to force or influence its mutation. You take two pygymies, a male and a female, from Congo to Iceland and have them breed. Their offspring will still be Pygmies and if they remain there 100yrs and continue to breed without mixing blood with Eskimoes. . . then for 100yrs they will remain Pygmies on ice.

You can not necessarilly determine a persons race by their genes otherwise analysis of those boys genetics would group them under Asian races and their phenotypes under Africans races.

Within the gene are templates for physical frame and bone structure. It is passed from generation to generation and the templates do not deviate too far from its origin, unless it was modified through cross breeding. Look, there is opportunity here for ethicists interested in debating the morality of gene mutation and cross-breed engineering. Some people cross breed for cosmetic reasosn only and there are doctors out there today that promise they can manufacture babies to a customized parental request.

Someone said we should start the discussion with definitions. I agree. I will state briefly my understanding of race and then share in-depth my belief in human intelligence and the political exploitation of the diversity in humans.

The term human being is applicable only to a distinct and unique specie of creation. This distinction is qualified by an endowment of knowledge. In other words, understanding is present in all creatures but knowledge is specific only to human specie. Humans are categorized into different filter baskets in which people having similarity of ordinary physical features such as skull scultpure and facial bone profile, as well as hair texture, skin and color pigmentation are grouped as a race entity. We have Negroid, Caucasoid, Mongoloid.

There are also intra-racial and inter-racial circumstances that occur naturally to dilute distinctive features such as an albino, or a child cross bred between parents of black and white racial types. Evolution and social alignments across distant peoples and races is increasingly producing offsprings that make it imperatively necessary to dump conservative ideas and adopt new definitions and meanings to race classifications.

Now, let's talk about knowledge. What is knowledge? If you were asked rto define knowledge without looking in dictionary or wikipedia how would you express it?

To me, Knowledge is the net feedback servoed to an individual consciously interacting, actively or passively, with the dimensional environment. The first action/event, whatever its outcome good or bad, becomes a reinforcement or deterrent that shapes how future actions/events are approached. This is called learning! Through learning the individual is empowered to seek truth, advocate truth and sacrifice for truth. This is the power of knowledge. So, out of all creatures why is it only humans that posess knowledge?

Let's go into the scripture. At the beginning of creation, mankind consisted only of Adam. God in his mercy created his partner and helper, Eve; made her of the opposite gender. This was the beginning of duality, polarity, very symbolic when we talk later about diversity! The two at this stage of creation existed in an unconscious state and did not at the time have knowledge. . .they did not need it at that point. God commanded them to remain in that state of purity and bliss, void of knowledge, unless they ate of the forbidden fruit of a particular tree, then they would gain a power that would make it impossible for them to remain in Eden. They disobeyed God's instruction and ate the fruit (apple) from the tree of knowledge. What is the meaning of all these?

Symbolically, this was a transformation across the veil separating unconscious state from conscious state of mind. Your mind is the apple of your body, this is where wisdom resides. It has gates. . .each gate opens a new stage of awareness upon your spirit. In esoteric teachings, the acolyte is led up the path of enlightenement through ritual steps that primarily focus on these gates. In the rituals itself, caution must be taken to ensure that a gate is not opened before the student is ready for the discovery, otherwise irreversible damages may occur to the soul. The acolyte could then end up trapped. . .not in a conscious state and not in an unconscious state but wandering around in a timeless oblivion. Similarly in fraternity ranks, the mystic progresses to the next degree up by first proving their mastery of the interim status.

The universe is seating on a vault full of codes and secrets about the cosmos and life generally. Many gates lead into that vault. The code for unlocking the gate is a fundamental essence in our nature. Mankind is still eating the apple from that tree today and with newly acquired knowledge we are further pushed away from Eden. I can write volumes on the subject. . .but it would divert focus away from the current topic.

Let's go talk intelligence. Intelligence is the application of intellect. The use of intellect include the independent ability to query, question, explore, enquire, probe, reflect, ponder, wonder, examine, . . .the events and sorroundings which act as impulses and stimulate in us ordinray or complex responses from which lessons are learnt. Therefore intellect is dynamic. . .alone, the triggering stimulant is a factor on the expansiveness or limitation of intellect. A child in Ajegunle that has an inquisitive and probing mind will exhibit a higher intellect than a child in New York who is choreographed. It cannot be disputed that access to resources in New York will aid in removing barriers faster and with more accomodation for the choreographed child, whereas the Ajegunle child living in squalor has no such luxury and unless an external intervention acted to rescue him/her, the child will ultimately be defeated by circumstance imposed upon him.

What is the relation between race and intelligence?

I used to date a guy and never and still feel nothing for.
My mom and big sis convinced me that love may grow with time. I have known this guy for over 3yrs, still felt nothing for him and they think love may grow? Well i gave it a thought and we got engaged and was going to get married soon (early next year) with zero feelings for him.

Somehow some way, I was scared cos the guy told me he's prayed a lot about this for many years and he's convinced in his heart that am the one. So thought well, if he's truly the one then a little likeness may crop up with time. . . yet nothing was coming.

I prayed about this issue and was very confused. One day i called him that we need to have a serious chat, he agreed. I went to his house and told him that i cannot go on with the marriage cos i don't even have an iota of likeness for him and to talk of love, so he should take the ring back.

He took it but was angry and disappointed but i told him that it's the best for both of us. How can you cope with a wife who feels nothing for you? We may never be happy in that marriage.

I took time to explain the demerits of such marriage to him and left peacefully. My mom and sis are very disappointed in me but my Dad is in full support of this cos he cares about my happiness.
YET still this guy has been calling me and think I am the ONE for him.

Newt was Speaker of The House and the opposition to President Clinton. If indeed Republicans regain control of the House next year, Obama will have a different dynamics to deal with in his Presidency and definitely will need someone in his camp who once fought the battle from the oval office chair and came out of it victorious. He has two people to pick from - Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton. It is no secret that President Obama is very close to Carter and is relationship with Clinton is a distant one. In consideration for what lies ahead, President Obama need to close the gap with Bill. He needs Bill more than he needs Carter now.

Each specie of creature that God made is endowed with a specific command that is exclusive. The command code is buried in its gene and lays dormant until its triggered by an external event. . .then it is animated!  The animation results in a predictive behavioral pattern that is unique to members of that specie group.  

So given an external stimulus S_x, you can safely project how the creatures C₁, C₂, C₃ and so on. . .of a studied specie group G will respond. When plotted as a statistical data, the result will conform to a bell shaped curve. . .where you have the average meeting the predicted outcome and a few behaving outside of that prediction, either to the upper extreme or to the lower extreme.

In the human specie, we cannot talk about endowments and intelligence without revisiting the scriptural Garden of Eden.
