yet ADEKUNLE could not defend his kinsman   the aare ona kakanfo, the generalissimo of the Yoruba (field Marshall of Yoruba Land) chief MKO Abiola and the 17 yoruba generals who were imprisoned with him
yet ADEKUNLE could not defend and free his leader Awolowo who was in jail in the 60s .
yet ADEKUNLE could not revenge the death of his leader Fajuyi who was murdered in his home state despite bein surrounded by his kinsmen.
Adekunle's job was to defen the homeland, not individuals. . . . he did a fantastic job of defending the homeland, I salute him!

Of all the tribes in Nigeria, Igbo is the least politically savvy.  You cannot divorce politics from warfare, Biafra failed to see beyond its nose, its greediness for other people's land blocked its awareness of the political ramifications for heading West instead of North against its enemy. Yoruba was not an enemy, Biafra created that enmity.  Swallow your pain and learn from it.

I remember a similar quote to this from the same clueless man earlier this year just after the UN blast.
'Terrorism is a global phenomenon.Maybe its the turn of Nigeria'.
hmmm. . . .  huh   It would appear from his statements that, in exchange for his acquiesce and acceptance of Boko's terror Jonathan is benefitting in some shady way.  When you piece all his crazy statements together, this looney is deriving some promised outcome.  hhmm . . .  cool
PoliticsRe: 2015 - Boko Delivers Power Back To Arewa Consultative And Consensus Elders by NegroNtns(op): 6:04am On Dec 26, 2011
lmao! you fool!! grin, go and siddon somewhere.

There are naturally patriots who independently and uncollaboratively understand what is going in that society. Boko Haram is one of those whose teachings and aspirations are oriented to the Caliphate. It is defending the institution, even before the institution has granted it authority to do so.
A different kind of independent thought and passion, a conservative one so to say, in opposition to the threat of encroaching liberalism.

True, they are not endorsed by Sokoto but Sokoto know what to do to wipe them off the ground. What's the delay?
PoliticsRe: Do You Advice Christians In The North To Attend Church On New Year? by NegroNtns(m): 5:44am On Dec 26, 2011
oh, of course that would be a waste and high risk effort, but notice I did not say bomb, I said terror. wink Beside bomb they also use ride-by on okada to spray people down, including in residential areas. right?
Politics2015 - Boko Delivers Power Back To Arewa Consultative And Consensus Elders by NegroNtns(op): 5:38am On Dec 26, 2011
In three years time, by GOD's Grace we all be here to witness it, the Arewa Consultative and Consensus elders will have the reins of control of the Northern politics delivered back into their hands. Expectedly, this will be done by Boko.

Miraculously, they lost hold of the reins when IBB became president. Northern politics, . . . excuse me while I rephrase that, AREWA politics was Sardauna's politics. The legacy and the blueprint was designed to concentrate power in the caliphate (Sokoto) and to distribute or fan-out designations from that center to the inner seven emirates and therefrom to exercise regional control and political drive. Sardauna's vision was not detached from the sentiments of his ancestor, Usman Dan Fodio, who established the Caliphate and an elite class Emirates over the Hausas.

Long story short, Sardauna had what you can call wall to wall formation extending from Sokoto to Borno and including Katsina, Daura, Kano, Zaria, Bauchi. In Sardauna's life a Gwari like IBB would never have been endorsed as the face of Arewa politics. . . .never, ever!

In terms of tribal homogeneity, Arewa has the same problem in the North that is faced by Igbos in the East, except that their politics in North is married to the religion in Sokoto and has gone unchallenged by their minorities, thereby giving the elite corps of rulers in Arewa a de facto authority to swing the region in tune to Islamic doctrines. College education has created an explosion of liberal ideas and detachment away from old sentiments taught within city walls; so a new crop of elitism is growing and heading away from the Sardauna stewards. They are finding and creating their own independent thoughts, not waiting for instructions from the top and most of what they create is leaning far out from traditional creeds fanned out from the Caliphate. Boko is bent on changing this development and bringing power back to the base.

I hope those of you advocating for making Nigeria better and keeping it together will first go and take lessons in patriotism. Learn the rituals of nationalism first before you preach nationalism. I am happy this country is headed to its dissolution. grin While Jonathan is talking thesis to media, Boko is preaching governance in his backyard. I hope the brim of his hat is not creating blindsights for the President. grin grin
PoliticsRe: Bomb Blast: A Burden We Must Live With – Jonathan by NegroNtns(m): 3:43am On Dec 26, 2011
To those calling for Yorubas to leave North, I quite feel your sentiments but I believe it's a wrong call. The Yoruba - Hausa interconnection is greater than Boko Haram. We will not run for Boko but we encourage our brothers and sisters in North to be vigilant as everyone else is required to do, whether Hausa, Kanuri, Ibo or anyone else.

The church itself is NOT a cult my brother but anyone or group of people who uses church to carry out occultic practices as such is prophesied by Christ Himself then, it is our responsibilities to cry out for righteouness sake.
Goshen, thank you for that insightful statement, you are correct. . . its the individual and not the institution!

He should fire his speech writers, all of them.
No, we should fire the President!  if the speechwriters were drunk, was he, the president, blind?  Doesn't Jonathan have phd?  Ms Kokolette could have delivered a more sensible response, though we may have to wade our way through the bullets.   grin grin

YES!!!! Look, when the white man brought church, he had bible in hand and firearm under his cassock. Why cant these people, in face of threats, do the same to keep their life and church? Yes, i support it. if their piousness prevent them from entering with it then they should keep armed guards outside church. their best option really is to use cordon and perimeter security to control access and safety. That way they are safe without the need to go in temple with a firearm.

djustice,

Im here to defend against the charges you make on the party, the ex governor and the sitting governor and generally against the vision for Lagos State. I start by asking you to share with us your understanding of taxation in Lagos and its purpose locally in our society.

To all the whiners out there about high toll and tax in Lagos, please send a memo back home to wherever you uprooted from that intending migrants first understand the rules of society and to study the history of the Lagos Town Council and its legacy of municipal authority before migrating here. If you can't pay the dues don't come in here to earn dues either!

lmao, Jonathan is a comedian!!! grin May GOD help that Cameroon or Niger or Republic of Benin do not get ambitious in this regime and declare war against our country, it will truly be over.

I believe they should, yes they should not stay away from church in fear of Boko. However, they must not go to church armless either!

I would want the Northern communities to establish vigilante groups with full inventory of heavy armor to protect their communities. They should cordon off access roads and mount checkpoints into and out of main thoroughways and their tributary roads. Anyone not living in the community and who cannot account for his presence there should be turned away and warned not to linger around or return. If the warning is not heeded the person should be arrested. If he proves difficult he should be summarily shot. One stubborn lost life is better than hundreds of innocent ones bombed or shot to death.

They should go to worship but go with self-organized security and community control for access. ''F" federal government, you are on your own and you must protect your land against the enemy.

They are under the anointing of priest oledepo besides any challenge on his majesty is an automatic blasphemy punishable by slapping from oledepo himself.
You know what, Bluetooth, I didnt look at it that way but you are correct.  What these people call church are in fact cults where the members are hypnotized against their own willpower to act. . . . . they are servants of the pastor, and not of GOD.  Same bs that Bishop Eddie Long used to hoodwink his congregation for support when it was clearly evident he abused young boys sexually.
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Bombings: Presidency To Organise Security Summit by NegroNtns(m): 11:38pm On Dec 25, 2011
I have given Jonathan the benefit of doubt all along, knowing that without being in his shoes it is hard to gauge and pinpoint where pressure hurts his feet, but I am beginning to see a pattern in his steppings and pace.  Jonathan is clueless on politics and governance.  Jonathan is exactly where the Arewa political elements need him to be - vulnerable and weak!

He is the only President in our history, civilian or military, with the highest academic credentials.  If we say the North cannot rule us because they lag behind the South in academic excellence it infers that competency come packaged only with academic laurels and accomplishments.  The legacy of this Jonathan government will mute that assertion and its inferrence.   Jonathan has failed to stand up for those of us who believe in the value of western education.  A bold victory for Boko who say western education is a failure and they dont need it!

PoliticsRe: Stop The Violence Against Women In Nigeria! by NegroNtns(m): 11:05pm On Dec 25, 2011
Relax,

Its a good thought and initiative but let us not start dipping government's hands in everything in our society that we find insulting.  We are government!  We should only go to authorities after we have taken unsuccessful action on our own to get remedy.

I watched the video and noticed that women members in the congregation jumped for joy at Bishop Oyedepo"s testimony of physically abusing another woman.  So if this Bishop's act was wrong, then in what way has the female congregation expressed their dissaproval?  How about the men in the church, do they find it insulting that their leader is abusing a female member; and what are they doing about it?

Let us know how the immediate victim and her fellow church members have taken action to chastise their pastor before you ask the general community to jump in, or the state government and a foreign country to intervene with penal measures.
PoliticsMay Their Souls Rest In Peace! by NegroNtns(op): 10:51pm On Dec 25, 2011
Merry Christmas to all on Nairaland!!

In response to the murder today of so many innocent lives in our country I thought it would be a nice thing to give prayer to the departed souls.

Today is marked as a holy day, the day on which Jesus (AS) was born by Mary (AS).  It is not just a day to celebrate birthday but also a joyous one in which to celebrate motherhood and life.  A child born into a household is also a birth into the community, and so it is equally a day of merriment and celebration for the community.  Today should not be a day of mourning for the community,  some members of this big family of NL are touched by the carnage carried out in churches and localities in the North by Boko Haram, with these members we join in grieving for the dead.

May Almighty GOD not put on us a burden greater than we have the strength to bear.  Boko Haram is a big burden to our society! To all the mothers out there whose spirit is sunken today,. . . . . . I ask that the spirit of the Holy Mother, Mary (AS), be with you and console your heart.  From GOD we all come and unto Him is our return.  On the day when her son, the one whose birthday we celebrate today, was nailed to the cross for execution, we can imagine the pain and pangs in Mary's heart.

I call upon you all in this community to join in spirit and with your voice to say AMEN to the prayer offered here in memory of the fathers, mothers, sons and daughters bombed to death as they sat in temples singing praise and rejoicing in the Holy birth of Jesus Christ (AS).  They were on sacred ground performing sacred worship, they had not killed or waged a war against Boko Haram.  So what could be the reason for their execution?  Allah said in the Holy Quran and Prophet Muhammad repeated in the Hadith traditions as well, that the place of worship is a sacred ground, let no one violate the sanctity therein.

Below is Sura Al Mulk (The Sovereingty), it is a ritual prayer that we use in Islam to pray upon departed souls.  Islam is as connected and interwoven with christianity as life itself is inextricably interlinked with death.  Boko Haram are unbelievers, kaffirs. . . . may the wrath of Almighty Allah descend upon them.  In this prayer the attributes pf the elements are emphasized. . . . .we ask the elements of fire, earth, air and water to visit vengeance on Boko Haram.

Turning to the four points of the cosmos,  fire to the north (the element of the white consciousness),  air to the east  (the element of the yellow consciousness), water to the south (the element of the black consciousness) and earth to the west (the element of the red consciousness). . . . . we ask that cosmic consciousness war against the elements of the Boko Haram consciousness, may darkness descend upon them, may plague visit upon them, may pestilence live in their abode and may their roots dry up and wither.

In the Name of Allah, Most Beneficient, Most Merciful.

1. Blessed is He in whose hand is the dominion , and He is able to do all things.

2. Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the AllMighty, the OftForgiving.

3. Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in in the creations of the Most Beneficient. Then look again:can you see any rifts?

4. Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out.

5. And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps as missiles to drive away the devils, and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing fire.

6. And for those who disbelieve in their Lord is the torment of Hell, and worst indeed is that destination.

7. When they are cast therein, they will hear the terrible drawing in of its breath as it blazes forth.

8. It almost bursts up with fury. Every time a group is cast therein, its keeper will ask:did no warner  come to you.

9. They will say: yes indeed, a warner did come to us, but we belied him and said: Allah never sent down anything, you are only in great error.

10. And they will say: had we but listened or used our intelligence, we would not have been among the dwellers of the blazing fire.

11. Then they will confess their sin. So, away with the dwellers of the blazing fire.

12. Verily! Those who fear their Lord unseen, theirs will be forgiveness and a great reward .

13. And whether you keep your talk secret or disclose it, verily, He is the AllKnower of what is in the breasts of men.

14. Should not He who has created know?  And He is the Most kind and courteous, AllAware of everything/

15. He it is, who has made the earth subservient to you, so walk in the path thereof and eat of his provision, and to Him will be the resurrection.

16. Do you feel secure that He, who is over the heaven will not cause the earth to sink with you, then behold it shakes?

17. Or do you feel secure that He who is over the heaven will not send against you a violent whirlwind?  Then you shall know how terrible has been My warning? And indeed those before them belied the Messengers of Allah, then how terrible was My punishment?

19. Do they not see the birds above them, spreading out their wings and folding them in? None upholds them except the Most Beneficient Allah. Verily, He is the AllSeer of everything.

20. Who is he besides the Most Beneficient that can be an army onto you to help you?  The disbelievers are in nothing but delusion.

21. Who is it that can provide for you if He should withold His provision? Nay, but they continue to be in pride, and they flee from the truth.

22. Is he who walks without seeing on his face more rightly guided, or he who sees and walks on a straight way?

23. Say it is He who has created you, and endowed you with hearing, seeing and hearts, little thanks you give.

24. Say: it is He who has created you from the earth, and to Him shall you be gathered in the hereafter.

25. They say when will this promise come to pass? If you are telling the truth.

26. Say: the knowledge is with Allah only, and I am only a plain warner.

27. But when they will see the torment on the day of resurrection approaching, the faces of those who disbelieve will be different, and it will be said to them: this is the promise which you were calling for!

28. Say: tell me, if Allah destroys me, and those with me, or He bestows His Mercy on us, who can save the disbelievers from a painful torment?

29. Say He is the Most Beneficient, in Him we believe and in Him we put our trust. So you will come to know who is it that is in manifest error.

30. Say: tell me, if all your water were to be sunk away, who then can supply you with flowing water?

May the souls of the victims of Boko Haram rest in peace and may Almighty GOD make earth a resting abode for them.  May GOD be with the living and may the spirit of the Beloved come alive in our hearts, AMEN!

^I see. . .
They need its presence for precisely what? To cow the rest of us into submission and hand over our secular state to them?
No, not really.  Hausa is not stu pid.  lol.  They do not need Boko, or anyone for that matter, to fight a military warfare for them.  They can wipe out Boko in a week if they want, they know what to do.

The Arewa elites are not at all focused on the Boko offensive, as far they are concerned this is Jonathan's proving ground that he is a fitting commander-in-chief.  Do you see the political twist in that?  They are however having sleepless nights about their alternatives if Yoruba should declare its independence first before anyone else and how the resulting equation will disarray the North.  This is a political nightmare for them.  They learnt some critical lessons from the first republic which they want to avoid at all cost from repeating itself.  The North almost imploded on itself in the first republic.  Ahmadu Bello instituted some formula which if they kept it going will preserve their unity up there.  This is the first time in which the efficacy of that formula is losing potency, add to that the fact that, the stewards of that formula are no longer the power brokers of Arewa .   So they need a common political villain against which a new heorism will be foistered among their youths.  This explains why their own region is primarily the battle ground for Boko.  A new awakening and transformation!

To buttress this point, you saw what happened in the Arewa leadership soon after OPC declared what it will do if Boko is not restrained and is allowed to cross border to Yorubaland.

Ekt, I believe you have seen it before, maybe your household never eat it but if you live in Yorubaland you have seen fufu.

It was common also in Ondo and Ekiti land, although iyan is the staple among Ijesha, Ekiti people.  They have the same texture and look and to the untrained eye they are the same.  They taste different and match with different soups but I love them both.
