FreeSpirited: So? Did they fail exam? Did they cheat? Was the AI answer they gave wrong? ....So what's the point
They plagiarized? Plagiarism has been existing since writing began and there's a way it's been handled....so what's the fuss about?
I do not agree that the use of AI is plagiarism. AI is a tool, just like calculator, Autocad software, and others that aids learning and research. The African mind, regrettably is laced with hard life, "Suffer" that is the reason anything that tend to bring ease to humanity is rebuffed and criticized. Years back, to earn a University first class degree was a mirage but today the story has changed yet we condemn AI.
ILoveNG: You all should relax. Ai will aid learning greatly.
There were concerns too when calculators were invented.
You can’t say you prefer walking to driving a car because car might make you become lazy.
This is just my thought. The world is today driven by technology and we cannot be left behind because of baseless criticism as raised as in the case of AI. AI should be applauded for revolutionalising our educational and social sectors. In no distant time, I am optimistic that more innovations that encourage easy life will be launched. Today's world is digital and in a fast lane. The Asian technologies are confirming this.
It has been observed that whenever there is a breach in election process, particularly, result transmission through collation to announcement of results, that is when the unimaginable happens. In 2023 general election, it was "transmission glitches". Now in Edo, it is "sinister shifting of collation venue to INEC office and abruptly stopping of collation process from midnight till 11am). Evil strike under the cover of obscurity. Democracy in deed!
It is shocking and so disheartening that Ex-Gov. Adams Oshiomole, at his age, descended so low and recklessly to make such unguided statement that Mrs Betsy Obaseki was childless. This is irrespective of whatever provocation. This statement bleeds the heart, mind, body and soul of every right thinking person. For this, heaven is unpleased because, the voice of the people is the voice of God. Two wrongs don't make a right. Oshiomole should have kept calm and ignored Betsy' statement that Monday Okpebholo was not married. Silence is golden. Now, his response may cause him more harm before men and God.
This idea of 18years age limit for WAEC/NECO examinations is crazy and an outright nonsense particularly in this jet age. How on earth was this thought of let alone brought to public space? I am now, more than ever convinced that affairs of this country are ran from the beer parlour. First, it was reverting the national anthem to the old version. Secondly, setting 18years age limit for jamb and now it's WAEC/NECO exams. Who knows what next? These are retrogressive policies that will make this country a laughing stock in the committee of nations. When all efforts should be geared at reviving our ailing economy, more problems are now created. It is hard to think this 18year age limit for WAEC/NECO exam policy will succeed.
"...some universities had admitted candidates as young as 12 and 10" Without disclosing how, when and where? Believe this cock and bull story at your peril.
RoadMozart: when i was graduating i had a 16yr old coursemate. we graduated together.
16years on admission or at graduation? In any case, were you the father/mother for you to know his/her definitely age? How was his/her comportment and performances in examination?
Oh, it is very important that PDP challenges this judgement otherwise, it can form the basis upon which APC can institute a case to nullify the PDP primary.
Non sense! In as much as I do not support indecent dressing, I honestly do not see anything wrong with Natasha's dressing. The house's action was merely to embarrass the poor lady. In any case, she could have wore dark glasses on the grounds of medical advice. Legislatures should be busy with their core mandate, please.
TandT1968: Why can't JAMB program the computing system to release result the moment a candidate finishes the exam and press submit or enter, as the case may be? Why must a computer based examination result be delayed beyond 30 seconds after writing? Are they still using manpower to mark the exams? Whoever know the reason(s) should please enlighten me. Thanks
This a very valid point. If it is not for the purpose of subjecting the process of result release to human interference for selfish and corrupt reasons, the examination result can automatically and immediately be released at the end of an examination. Why computerize examination process if results cannot be immediately released?
CodeTemplar: Currency conversion ratio is of little significance when you consider that currencies can be adjusted.
For example, the Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD) is the strongest currency in the world with a single Kuwaiti dinar buying $3.25 US dollars (or, put another way, one US dollar equals 0.31 Kuwaiti dinars) but can the Kuwaiti economy measure against USA or other advanced economies? As a matter of fact, kuwaiti dinar was adjusted by taking away three zeros to make it the world's strongest. That's something anyone can do and become the worlds strongest currency but not necessarily the world strongest economy.
Money is a just a metric system that can change based on goods and service backing it or can be recalibrated to ease management of money system.
We take things for granted too much in this country. Ordinary "Life-Jacket" could have averted this calamity. The government should wake up in ensuring that basic safety precautions are observed in our daily lives through enforcement and public sensitisation jingles. May the souls of the departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace! (Modify) (Quote) (Report) (Share
Owon: African Alliance company PLC has refused to pay me and many others their insured money, months and years after maturity. THEY HID UNDER THE CLOAK OF ISLAM, WITH THEIR FRAUDULENT TAKAFUL SAVINGS PLAN TO DEFRAUD PEOPLE. I have written several emails to them without a single response. I have been to their office at Ikoyi last month to warn them and that my return won't be good...
I HAVE WRITTEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS AND REPORT TO THE USELESS NIACOM THAT'S SUPPOSED TO BE INSURANCE COMPANY POLICE TO PUT THEM TO CHECK, BUT THE USELESS NIACOM IS NOT EVEN RESPONDING. I THINK AFRICAN ALLIANCE INSURANCE COULD HAVE BRIBED THEM...
Please I want suggestions from people who have had similar experiences with these evil and criminal insurance companies and how they were able to retrieve their money.
I have same experience. I have been approaching the company for months now for the payment of my claims without success. FG should interven to save AAI customers from undue hardship.
NairaOcean: A Nigerian man has sparked controversy after posting a video online of his girlfriend confessing to cheating on him. The video, which has since gone viral, shows the woman tearfully admitting to her infidelity while her boyfriend films the entire confession.
The incident, which took place in an undisclosed location in Nigeria, has drawn widespread attention on social media platforms. In the video, the man can be heard questioning his girlfriend about her actions, to which she responds with a candid admission of her cheating.
"I'm sorry, I made a mistake," the woman is heard saying in the video, her voice trembling with emotion. "I didn't mean to hurt you, but I cheated on you."
The man behind the camera continues to press her for details, asking when and how many times she cheated. The girlfriend, clearly distressed, provides vague answers as she struggles to explain herself.
Rubish! A girlfriend NOT a wife and you have the guts to humiliate her this way. Do it to somebody else from an enlightened family, you will rot in jail. If you don't like her behaviour, simply part your ways. Can you imagine the incalculable damage done to her reputation by this video put in public space? Again, the lady is NOT your wife yet and such you do not have any right whatsoever to humiliate this way. This will be a good case for advocates of women's right to take up on pro bono to serve as deterrent to other men.
oz4real83: Why are moms always the issue whenever it comes to the issue of marriages . They are always the ones who have something against a partner , fathers act more matured and allow children to make their own decisions, but mothers always feel they know best and have even seen the future concerning the union . Some people have ended up breaking up with their destined partners because of some moms
"...mother's always feel they know best and have even seen the future..." You nailed it. From bible days, women have created more problems in relationships. See Adam and Eve, Samson and Delilah etc. Today, we see mothers in-law fighting daughters in-law. Many marriages have broken down because of the behaviors of women orchestrated by fake prophets and pastors.
Naijanascam: This is how society works.... For making it public and to give hope to those suffering same cancer around the world... He didn't call for prayers and fasting .....but will depend on the Doctors for treatment
The best comment I have read here for a long time. Thumbs up!

Govnur Obasek of Edo State, Please come and see your mate. We heard of Wike and Umahi's exploit in Rivers and Ebonyi respectively. Now Lagos has joined the league of road construction. Edo, wake up! If you can't fly, walk. If you can't walk, craw but by every means, move to join this league of road and infrastructural development.
Frizz001: Are you then saying the House of Reps Chairman of the Committee is lying or uninformed? Do you have any factual basis for your outright disagreement with the House of Reps that exercises oversight of the health sector? Has LUTH come out to say the position is untrue or have you verified that there are no 5 wards shut down in LUTH due to lack of medical personnel? It is clearly stated in the news that the Health Committee undertook an oversight visit to LUTH and came up with these findings. Have you done same and had a different result?
Assuming, without conceding, that your assertion is correct, why then am I not seeing some outrage from you against the House of Reps Chair of the Committee for speaking such falsehood and misleading the people? Why do you rather attack one who has reacted to the news and instead accuse the person of being negative and therefore not entitled to the blessings of the land?
Either way, there is evident failure of government/governance so why are you unable to criticize the government for its lapses?
The house committee members believed what they were told by the hospital Management. Whether the information is right or wrong is different kettle of fish. Actually, it isn't possible for five wards of a federal teaching hospital to shut down on account of "japa". The hospital Management is only trying to weep public sentiment to enable them get FGN's approval to employ their family members and friends into the system. Yes, some staff may have resigned their appointments lately but this cannot be enough to shut down even one ward in the hospital. All the propaganda being peddled are for political gains.
Entry requirements are different, so how do you convert from one to the other on completion of the programme?
Besides, the founding mandate of both level of studies are also different. Obviously, Polytechnics have lost sight of their mandate. How else can you explain courses in social sciences and humanities being offered in Polytechnics.
Polytechnic programme leads to award of OND or HND as the case may be while university courses lead to award of Bachelor Degree, so why changing from HND to Bachelor Degree after undergoing Polytechnic education? How does that even make sense?
Absolutely absurd.
Discrimination against the HND is necessitating the change from HND to Degree. Would you rather chose to play a second fiddle in today's competitive world?
Kobojunkiee: Storyland! No man or relationship or even marriage is meant to exist and thrive only as an Island. If your marriage cannot withstand interference, then it simply means the foundation was faulty to begin with.
I am sorry, you missed the point. Family space should be respected. In any case, what is the guarantee that the one who is interfering knowns more than you. In Africa, we ascribe wisdom or knowledge to old age. My dear, knowledge/wisdom is not a function of age. Inasmuch as we bear the consequences of our action, we should be responsible for our decision and someone else by his/her unsolicited interference in the affairs of our homes.
One of the greatest challenges of marriage is the unsolicited interferences of in-laws and friends in your private affairs. The truth is that, those that have failed in theirs will want to pull yours down in the pretence of helping you. The golden sermon in most marriage ceremonies is for couples to guide their marriages from external interferences. People are wicked and deceitful.
Same WAEC that derailed a lot of people's destinies in the 90s. It has suddenly become a piece of cake. Nothing truly last forever not even our worries and the problems of Nigeria. This country will get better someday, it may not be in this generation.
As a single, if you are finding it hard to survive with N150,000/month in Lagos, my sincere advice for you is that, please pack your load and go to your village. Many people, married and single live in Lagos with less than N150,000/month salary. To drive this point home better, how much do you think is a graduate starting pay in public service, talk less of private employee
leanonme82: The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said a certain Ejikeme Mmesoma (Joy) who had earlier been celebrated to have scored the highest mark in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) falsified her result.
The board has also threatened to withdraw the candidate’s actual results for allegedly falsely announcing herself as the top-scorer of the computer-based test used to rank candidates seeking admissions into Nigerian universities.
According to JAMB, Miss Mmesoma’s actual score in the test was 249 and not the 362 she claimed to have scored...
The agency, therefore, advised the public to always cross check these claims by candidates before rushing to honour them with undeserving awards. Meanwhile, JAMB has said it would withdraw the results of Miss Mmesoma and also prosecute her.
“This is not all, as the Board would, in due course, investigate all candidates laying claims to higher scores than they actually obtained. Once discovered, such candidates’ original results would be withdrawn forthwith, and they would be handed over to relevant security agencies for prosecution.”
Yes, this is good and applaudable. For me, I give my regards to candidates that score excellent grades in WAEC not UTME. The reason is that over the years, WAEC has held it integrity sacrosanct. It exams are all round test/evaluation unlike JAMB's that is only objective test. In cases of leakages, WAEC can still assess students on the basis of other factors but JAMB cannot. May I add that it is the reliability of JAMB exam results that now make Universities to do post UTME exam. WAEC results are useful throughout one's lifetime but JAMB for only a session. Overall best candidate in waec makes more sense to me than utme. Who else supports this view?
Oh in less than one month, BAT has hit the ground running. He is doing well. Buying of petrol is now so easy as there are no more long queues and dealers fixing prices arbitrary above normal. You no longer find traffic jam on the roads, There is no more Scrabble for parking spaces in public car parks. Generator noise at night has ceased in the neighborhood. People now sleep without light calmly in their homes. The beauty of it is that the supporters and non supporters BAT are enjoying these developments equally. We are in it together.
