EducationRe: Stop! Don't Buy That HND Form! by nelsonose: 2:42pm On Dec 17, 2017
quote author=LibertyRep post=63312632]If you are not self employed already and would be seeking for employment after your program, please I beg you in the name of whatever you worship, don't buy that HND form.

Don't make that mistake. Buy Direct Entry form or buy UTME form to start afresh at a conventional University. You also have the opportunity of approaching any Open University study center close to you and explore the opportunities therein available. All of these would eventually make you get a University degree. Worry less about the number of years and fund involved. Please don't buy that HND form.

Don't be fooled by those who will tell you that you can always proof your worth on the field. See, the truth is that you may not even be given the opportunity to proof anything at all. A large percentage of Nigerian employers including the government worship certificates and there isn't any traces that they might change any soon.

Take for instance, Ogun government commenced the sale of ASCON forms for the employment into the civil service of the state and HND holders are barred from partaking in the exercise. Even if you make it to the civil service through other avenues, there's is a level beyond which you can't rise because of your HND background. Why would you want to be subjected to such ridicule? Don't buy that form!

You may also be thinking of doing PGD, Masters and PhD later on. Well some universities wouldn't let you pass the Masters stage. LASU for Instance specifically stated that MED holders with HND and PGDE background are not eligible to apply for PhD. You see, the discrimination is huge and you wouldn't like it later on. Please drop the idea of the HND form.

What I don't understand is why the government and others in charge of our education have not scrapped these Polytechnics. Why would they allow them to churn out products that are not accorded the right respect in the society? Scrap the Polytechnics or at best stop them from awarding HND Certificates forthwith

Don't get carried away with the fact that HND holders are also called graduates and are allowed to partake in the NYSC scheme. See, the euphoria of their 'graduates' status expires with NYSC. If you doubt me, try to pick up a masters form with your HND after your NYSC. The discrimination is huge and you wouldn't like it.

Whilst it is true that some HND holders are doing very very well in their various fields, their percentage is also very very small compared to those battling with the ridiculous discrimination both in public and private establishments. Why would you therefore allow yourself experience such mockery after spending five years pursuing the certificate. (2 years for ND, 1 year for IT and another 2 years for the HND)

It is good to be educated but please be educated properly at least In Nigeria's context. This is because the most ridiculed certificate in Nigeria now is the HND Certificate.

Again, if you don't have a business of your own and would be seeking employment later on, don't buy that HND form. My two cents.[/quote]Hard truth.
EducationRe: 5 Things You Should Know Before Registering For JAMB 2018 by nelsonose: 6:04pm On Dec 12, 2017
holuwajobar:
@ADMISSIONTIPZ Has enrolment started?

If you are reading this post, then that means you want to sit for the upcoming UTME exam. Then i congratulate you because you are at the right place. Before we go into details, i will like to tell you that, there are alot of post in this blog that will help you during this year's admission processes. Also if you have any question about admission, you can ask me through the comments or through my email address in the CONTACT US page.

http://admissiontipz..com/p/contact-us.html

Now, back to this post, i will like to tell you things you need to know before registering for JAMB exam.

1. Your Name is very important:

Yes, your name can cost you your admission if you spell your name wrong. I have seen students been admitted by JAMB but were rejected by the University during clearance because of their names does not correlate with other documents like o'level result certificate, birth certificate etc. Although, JAMB use to allow for " change of data" where you can correct your name incase you made mistake, but to be on a safer side, make sure you carefully spell your name to the JAMB official that is going to register you.

2. Know The Course You Want To Study:

I usually find it funny whenever a student says he doesn't know the course to pick. Course is not something you should pick at random, course is something you have passion for, something you have knowledge about. Don't let anyone decide your course for you. If you are having problem choosing a course, i already made a post they will help you decide the course you really want to study. Click the link below to read the post.

http://admissiontipz..com/2017/10/choosing-a-course.html

3. Know the subject combination for your course :

Alot of student make this mistake by choosing wrong subject combinations for their course. If you want to avoid any form of mistake, then i will advise you to use "JAMB Brochure", look for your course and you will see the subject combination for the course. Remember, this mistake can not be amend after you have sat for the exam, which means your admission for that year is not certain. Be wise!!!

4. Use one sitting result :

I have come to realize that students with one sitting result have more advantage than students using two sitting results. I have already made a post about the " possible disadvantages of using two sitting result ", you can click the link below to read it. Also make sure your minimum grade in your WAEC/NECO/GCE is "C6", anything more than that, won't be accepted by the University you choose.

http://admissiontipz..com/2017/07/possible-disadvantages-of-using-two.html

5. Your Date of Birth:

Don't ever make a mistake of changing your date of birth because your admission can be revoke by JAMB or by the University if they find out. Minimum age federal universities accept is 16 years old, anything less than that, might not work out. If you are 15 year's old, just relax and wait for the following year or you can apply to private university if you can afford it.

Having said all this, you can now go and register for JAMB, wish you success.
If you have any kind of admission issues, then let me know through the comment or send a mail to my email address.

Thank You.

EducationRe: Bill To Stop Hnd Bsc Bias Passes 2nd Reading by nelsonose: 9:52pm On Apr 11, 2017
josielewa:
A Bill for an Act to abolish the discrimination between First Degree and Higher National Diploma (HND) in same profession passed second reading in the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
The bill, which was sponsored by Rep. Ali Isa (Gombe-PDP) and Rep. Edward Pwajok (Plateau-PDP), seeks to prohibit the existing dichotomy between both certificates.
Contributing to the debate, Pwajok said a research he carried out on both certificates, showed that the discrimination had no moral justification.
He said that the unfortunate situation would make the international community to look down on the status of educational institutions in the country.
The lawmaker said that it was unfortunate that such discrimination existed in a critical sector required for national development, regretting that there was a lot of segregation at employment level.
According to him, those with first degree are placed on Grade Level 8, while those with HND are placed on Grade Level 6 or 7.
He said that in some organisations, degree holders were paid N100, 000 at entry level, while their counterparts with HND were paid N70, 000.
But, the lawmaker said, in other countries, technical experts were paid higher than administrators, adding that “the reverse is the case in the country’’.
He said that if the private sector must develop, proper recognition must be given to polytechnics and similar institutions in the country.
After the debate, the Speaker of the House, Mr Yakubu Dogara, forwarded the matter to the Committee on Tertiary Education and Services for further actions.

If you actually believe this piece of hogwash scripted and written by a random blogger just to mock and belittle polytechnic graduates, then it means you can believe almost anything

Why isn't a letter like this attributed to a student of private university? Why is something like this always attributed to polytechnic students? With the level of education deterioration in Nigeria, does it mean that only polytechnic produce half and ill-baked graduates?

Funny enough, she might even be well-skilled and more productive than most of all these Patrick Obahiagbon-like English speaking dumb and unproductive heads cheesy

This one is even too fake to be real nah.. Even if someone is grammatically deficient, no be like this e dey be nah cheesy

CareerRe: The Issue Of HND Discrimination In The Civil Service by nelsonose: 8:07pm On Mar 25, 2012
The truth is that polytechnic education is sound and highly tasking academically. I was previledged to attend a polytechnic for National Diploma before doing a B.sc in university. You may believe this or not, in our days, admission requirement to Accounting dept in Auchi poly was 5 credits at a sitting or 6 credits at two sittings. Admissions to HND was subject to obtaining very good ND result. If anyone observes carefully, you 'll hardly find a polytechnic graduate that is a push over. In the university, students who came from the poly are usually head and shoulders above other students. Many people go the university because of our value for degrees. I have a degree but my polytechnic exposure is helping so much. In summary, it will be good if B.sc and HND are made equivalent otherwise, I encourage poly graduate to also get the degree if need be for the seek of it. In due course, the shaff will be separated from the grain.

EducationRe: Why Do Nigerian Universities Reject O'Level Results After 4 Years? by nelsonose: 8:29pm On Mar 03, 2012
I don't think this information is correct. No University or institution can reject any certificate or result on account of old age. In as much as the candidate satisfies the minimum admission requirement, he would be considered for admission.

BankPHB branches in Benin,Edo State capital has been sealed up since Tuesday, 7th December, 2010 by the state tax master (Board of Inland Revenue) over the bank's failure to remit it PAYE income tax to government. The issue now is that depositor cannot access their fund. This is a big embarrassment the bank customers. I am not against the government desire to collect it tax but It decision to seal up the bank would have been made public through the mass media before embacking on this act. How those the government now get the people's support when it causing them untold hardship. Who knows how soon this bank would open it doors to it customers?

No! No! No! I sincerely don't agree that the presentation of money to this chap for this great feat is enough. This guy deserves a scholarship to any University in any part of the world. Imagine, this is a country where we celebrate good footballers by giving them landed property in choice areas. A country where the government spend so much money to rehabilitate militants and sometimes sending them overseas; yet, we cannot celebrate academic excellence. Too bad. indeed very bad.
