Education / Re: Why Do Nigerian Universities Reject O'Level Results After 4 Years? by nelsonose: 8:29pm On Mar 03, 2012
I don't think this information is correct. No University or institution can reject any certificate or result on account of old age. In as much as the candidate satisfies the minimum admission requirement, he would be considered for admission.

Business / Bankphb, Benin Sealed Up by nelsonose: 11:17am On Dec 09, 2010
BankPHB branches in Benin,Edo State capital has been sealed up since Tuesday, 7th December, 2010 by the state tax master (Board of Inland Revenue) over the bank's failure to remit it PAYE income tax to government. The issue now is that depositor cannot access their fund. This is a big embarrassment the bank customers. I am not against the government desire to collect it tax but It decision to seal up the bank would have been made public through the mass media before embacking on this act. How those the government now get the people's support when it causing them untold hardship. Who knows how soon this bank would open it doors to it customers?

Education / Re: Maduka David Immanuel Emerges Best Waec Candidate by nelsonose: 11:54am On Oct 21, 2010
No! No! No! I sincerely don't agree that the presentation of money to this chap for this great feat is enough. This guy deserves a scholarship to any University in any part of the world. Imagine, this is a country where we celebrate good footballers by giving them landed property in choice areas. A country where the government spend so much money to rehabilitate militants and sometimes sending them overseas; yet, we cannot celebrate academic excellence. Too bad. indeed very bad.

Family / Re: How Do I Get To Make My Mum Love My Fiancee? by nelsonose: 2:20am On Oct 21, 2010
My brother, if you find love in your fiancee, please move on regardless of what anybody says. Let me tell you the truth. your mom has lived her life and you have yours to live too. Your mom just probably want you to marry a dummy whom she can bully whenever she comes visiting. Of course you are going to live with your wife and not your mom neither is your wife going to live with your mom.
Having said this, am not again parents interfaring with there children's marriage plans but there is a limit to everything. A man should know when to draw the line by knowing the advice to take and the one to reject.
Lastly, why is it that it is only mothers that's always generating issues like this in marriage? -because they still want be in control of the man and is family life ever after marriage. this is jealousy. Please let them leave the women to their husbands because it their choice.

This real madness. How can a woman enslave a man this way. The wife should have given this man her breast before leaving home to enable the man breast feed the child when necessary. This man is a woman wrapper and a disgrace to a true bred african man.
Family / Re: Do Women Change After Marriage? by nelsonose: 5:20am On Oct 19, 2010
Whatever the people's responces, aint you going to get married someday. My advice: Don't worry about issues like these because life itself is dynamic and human beings are the most unpreditable creature on earth. So changes must occure but never mind whenever you get to the bridge you will definately cross.

Culture / Re: Post Pictures Of Traditional Weddings. by nelsonose: 12:57pm On Jul 13, 2010
No doubt about it, traditional marriage is good and I love it. My worries are: What has cake and wedding rings to do with this kind of marriage. I really think these are items for white/church wedding. We must all try to be traditional in all ways when it comes to celebrating traditional marriage. Lets not advocate mixed culture and stop being copiers. Come to think of it, does the white man use kola-nuts or palm wine in his own kind of wedding?[/b]
Politics / Re: President Umaru Yar'adua Is Dead by nelsonose: 4:35am On May 06, 2010
So the man has officially died now? I thought he's been dead since December, '09. Anyway, death is an equalizer. Everyman is equal and the same before God. To me, Late president Yar'adua didn't do badly except for his ailing health which he has no control over, he was a strong advocate of the rule of law and this of course saw Gov Oshomole of Edo State, Mimiko of Ondo State etc into officies. He brought relative stability to the pump price & supply petrol. He may not have done everything or got everything right because he is human and therefore has human limitations too. Late president Yar'adua RIP.

Health / Egyptian Doctor Sues Yobe Over Alleged Assault, Sack by nelsonose: 12:11pm On Mar 18, 2010
FOLLOWING his alleged sack by the Yobe State Government, an Egyptian medical doctor, Mohsesn AbdelHameed Mohammed El-Asran, has sued the state and 13 other Egyptian doctors for alleged assault.

El-Asran had alleged that his travail was influenced by his disclosure that 10 of his colleagues were not qualified to practice as medical doctors.

He said his redress in court has become inevitable, because the state government "wrongfully terminated" his appointment, for speaking the truth to save people's lives in the rural areas of Yobe State under its Rural Health Care Delivery Services (YRHDS).

El-Asran, at a press conference in Maiduguri at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), said that the 10 doctors were holding diploma certificates with which the Yobe State government wrongfully employed them as resident doctors, consultants, and specialists with each one of them being paid a monthly salary of between N540, 000 and N640, 000.

He, however, noted that only 13 of the 23 employed Egyptian doctors were qualified to practice in Nigeria and any other hospital in the world.

El-Asran said that he was claiming damages for being assaulted by his colleagues, while asking the state government to state reasons for terminating his appointment "without setting up an independent medical panel with experts from the Nigerian Medical Council, the Nigeria Medical Association and selected senior doctors from teaching hospitals to investigate his claims by scrutinising the documents of the Egyptian doctors and making them go through examinations to ascertain their professional competence."

The state Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Idrissa Machinama, had last week announced the sack of El-Asran for what the government called "misinformation", claiming that the allegations he (El-Asran) raised were unfounded, because there were no facts to substantiate that the said Egyptian doctors were fake or holding diploma certificates.

Machinama said: "We did not record any trouble as a result of their prescriptions," even as he denied that the 13 Egyptian doctors beat up El-Azran during a scuffle between El-Azran and one other Egyptian doctor.

The commissioner had also told The Guardian that after Governor Ibrahim Gaidam received a petition from El-Asran, raising questions on the competence of his colleagues, the governor directed his Special Adviser on Health, Dr. Sani Chiromari, along with others to investigate but that the allegations were, however, found to be baseless and misleading.

El-Asran, however, said that he will be asking a high court to order for the constitution of an independent panel with senior medical professionals from key hospitals, representatives of professional bodies and those of Yobe government to assess the credentials of all the 23 doctors including him and subject them to examinations.

He further alleged that the Yobe government was already plotting to bundle him to Aminu Kano International Airport for repatriation to Egypt through the Nigerian Immigration without his claims being ascertained in court while the lives of many patients are at risk in the rural areas of Yobe State.

El-Azran had also claimed that the Yobe government's advert in Egypt required that applicants should possess MRCP, Membership of Royal College Physician, London or its equivalent which are post graduate degrees and years of experience as medical consultants, noting that 10 of the appointees have diplomas which are not equivalent.

He added that all the 23 doctors including himself didn't attend exams, since they arrived Nigeria in 2009, as required for registration as specialists and consultants.
