Oyeleye2011:
In addition, I will encourage you to take PTA/OTA program which is more Rehab career path rather than taking HCA program which is more Nursing career path. PTA/OTA will give you a depth knowledge about Rehab in Canada and also help you to pass your College of physiotherapy board exams in future because as you are working, you will be developing your skills. PTA/OTA do the same thing as PT/OT except for assessment and few therapy treatments such as manual therapy etc. The job is guaranteed for PTA/OTA and HCA in all levels of care such as LTC, Acute and Community care. RTA is also good but you might not get the skills you needed for your transition into Physiotherapist in future because it is activities based career such as games and so on. Lastly, PTA/OTA program is two years Diploma program in most colleges in Canada while HCA is 6-8 months Certificates program and RTA can be either certificate program or diploma program. I don’t know all the colleges in your province Alberta because am in BC. But I know one college in BC that does all the 3 disciplines PTA/OTA/RTA in one 2 years Diploma program. There are many colleges across Canada that offering HCA program but few colleges offer PTA/OTA and RTA program in Canada. I hope I am able to give you more insight into Rehabilitation career in Canada. Sorry, I wish I have more info about Alberta but I don’t because am in BC. I wish you good luck in choosing your career in Canada. Best of luck.
Thank you soo much. This is really insightful. I have noted these suggestions now and will do more research.

The RTA sounds more like what I've been doing recently here at our workplace. It's still a major interest of mine, but the first thing I guess is to have the PT license. So the PTA may be the way to go first. And to be honest, I really dread the PT exams. I dont know why. Maybe acknowledging it may help dispel it some.
May I PM you to discuss this further?

REFUSAL LETTER - November 20
INFORMATION LETTER - November 30
READY FOR VISA MAIL AKA PPR - December 3rd

I had shared the shorter version with the OVO Whatsapp group on the 3rd of December {and may have mixed up some details as I was floating on a cloud around town that day} and it's been a roller-coaster since then as we have very limited time to move.
WES was easy breezy as I evaluated a foreign MSc and it took 20 working days then. My first IELTS was with BC and that writing didn't surprise me too much. Please use the link above to read on my IELTS journey. My spouse also wrote his and we got some points from that.

We had to decline the first ITA just some hours to the deadline because for some reason my spouse didn't just take this immigration thing serious. I remember other posters here talking about their husbands and I could relate. lol. Few hours to go at about 2200HRS, he came to ask me how long we had left to submit so he could get the necessary documents from the bank. Fam, I just told him to log in and decline the ITA himself and went to sleep.
Thankfully, at that time scores were still fair so we got another ITA 2weeks after. This time he took it seriously.

We didn't call nor raise CSE until 3rd month to know VO = Ottawa. okay, fine.
Everything seemed alright, however, I'd get drawn to the placeholders for Proof of sibling relationship and Proof of sibling PR, majorly because the information dropdown listed similar, if not the same documents as options to upload. Since I had followed instructions, I felt no shaking. We expected golden mail but it was not coming.

Cut to 6 days after the 6month deadline we sent an email CSE to ask for updates on application. We even wrote to ask if we need to submit additional information like it would help them make a decision. A day after, I got a mail that application had been updated. I was happy, I thought ghost update. as we know this was sometimes a precursor to the main mail. unfortunately, when I logged into our profile I saw [/s]REFUSED[s]. My hands began to shake. I called my husband over and it was such a disheartening moment. Immediately I read through to see why we were refused and lo, it was that I hadn't submitted enough to support my claim of having a sibling and nothing to show that we had same father. omo!!!!!!!!!!

I got my sibling on the phone and we began to look through the documents together and realised that she'd always used a 'Declaration of Age' in place of a birth certificate as it was missing. This means that, although it was a legal tender, it was insufficient as it did not contain what for it, our dad's names. AHA!!!!!!

My husband and brother-in-law both suggested we create a new profile and just start all over again. I said alright, but before that, I am going to appeal this. They thought I was crazy. Even I thought so. We went back and forth and I just was determined. At this time, my husband was really done with how things were at his workplace and was hoping for a breath of fresh air. So, I asked him to just have faith with me, and support me in going ahead with the appeal. He was in. I drafted the appeal letter, sent to my BIL, he proof-read and asked to make changes. When we were both satisfied, we got both mine and sibling's marriage license (because the letter specifically said we didn't have anything to show we had the same father) and the licenses had that. I then went to Google photos to download picture from my wedding with my sister and I. and phew I found a recent picture with just me, my sis and dad. We took it this Oct when she came in for dad's birthday. To say the resemblance was uncanny was not a lie. To this day, I remember how that picture looked and I am super thankful for selfies. At this time my husband had gone to bed as he was so sleepy, but me? I just dey wake up [that's a line from one of my all-time favs - Sydney White- when the Nigerian guy who had been jetlagged for years *rolls eye* felt suddenly energetic at the gym on a treadmill}.

I attached the photos to the email, included the letter of appeal and previous documents and sent. I also sat down to create a new profile just in case. By the time I was done, it was 0500HRS and I had pulled an all-nighter.
Fast-forward, 1500HRS same day I sent the appeal, we received a response. See the speed I ran from the car into the house, so I could log in to the PC to read. My husband was right on my heel. Behold, it was a [/s]rejection email[s]. The kind agent who sent it, however, suggested another format to which the email should be sent. God Bless that Angel Agent for us. Immediately, we sprung into action, putting the email in the suggested format and resent. That was a late afternoon on Friday. Early Saturday morning, I saw another email notice - checked it was a ghost update. Profile still read [/s]refused[s]. I was shaking badly but joyful that at least someone took a peep.

Days later, I'd dream of emails from Agent Michelle saying we'd been approved, but the reality was saying otherwise. I held on to these dreams and kept hope alive. We sent emails twice to inquire of our documents had been received and we were informed via emails to confirm that. Exactly 10 days after we were sent the [/s]refusal[s] email, we received a letter saying that our appeal was heard and our file reopened. It was such a beautiful moment. My knees really did buckle as I fell to the ground in what you may describe as joy, relief and some tears. The email was sent on 30 Nov, but I read it on 1 Dec.

On the 3 Dec, the Ottawa Whatsapp group was abuzz with PPR announcements and I thought why not check your email? This was some minutes past 7 am. I refreshed my email and Oh my dayyyyyysssss, there it was Ready For Visa and it had been sent since 05:03 am and I had been awake since 5 am, but I didn't check email {becasue to be honest, checking every time could be a lot disappointing if nothing has changed}.

That people is our story. Thank you so much for this wonderful thread. I learned a lot. Forgive typos and errors as they were not intentional.

We are indeed blessed, no lies. I am super grateful to the Almighty who looked favourably on us. I also used the feedback form to thank the CPC and our Case Officer for their kind gesture.

It has ended in Praise for me and may it end in praise for you all.

While you study to get certified as a Physiotherapist in Canada, its possible for you to initially train as a Physical therapy assistant or Recreational Assistant, and work with that certification for a while.

But if you are interested in Adult care you will need to get certified and licenced as an Health Care Aide (HCA).Your Location in Alberta will determine the best college you can consider for HCA, you may wish to check : Bow valley College and Red deer college.
Thank you so much. I did see the Bow Valley College while looking.

I'll research more on the RA and PTA. Thank you.

May I ask if you're a PT yourself?

I'm a practicing Physiotherapist here in Nigeria and would love to continue once we arrive Canada and get my license.

My question though, is for people who work or know of Senior Nursing Facilities or Adult Day Care or any thing like that.

My workplace here has been so gracious to allow organize group exercise classes for Seniors which is what really interests me. However, what I'd like is more information from landed colleagues who have gone this route.

It may be a total change in career from Physio to Adult Care or even just working as a physio in a Senior Nursing Facility.

We intend to land in Alberta because we have family there thus making settling a little less stressful. I checked the Alberta website and I saw that mostly what is required is a post-secondary education and some 18 months certification from a college / university in Alberta. Some organizations even let you learn on the job.

Any one with more information? I'd really appreciate it. Even from other provinces.

Thank you

Oh no, I empathize with you @xtosync. Please don't give up. I'm sure you will get help here.

House and NOC gurus how can we help?

If no NOC fits cyber Cafe manager, can you write to them saying that nothing is close to your job description? Or use their social media platforms. Just thinking here.

So sorry

xtosync:
Hi there,
So the anti climax of this long almost two years ordeal is ending with a refusal due to incorrect NOC code. I applied with NOC code 0213 - Computer and Information System Manager.

This is what I should have done two years back, but I honestly thought I was on the right course. I am sharing so that it serves as a lesson to others getting into the process. Seek all the advice and counsel you can especially wherever you have doubts, even if it make you look or sound like a slowpoke.

In 2017, I spent more than a month confused about the actual NOC code for me. A first search on google for NOC code for cybercafe manager will pop out 0631 -Restaurant and Food service Managers. This is totally not what we are as cybercafe operators in general. so I spent quite a reasonable amount of time on the net and settled for NOC 0213 which had Computer and other related service manager as a sub in the title group. This seems more appropriate to me for my job title.

With description help from wonderful friends, the following are a basic summary of what I do:

Own and run a cybercafe
offer general computer services such as printing, scanning, typesetting
some software installation
sales of computers and its accessories etc
give basic computer lessons to customers/clients
have 2 employees
also offer computer related services to clients as per contracts to set up their cafe, computer units/rooms and logistics.

Over the years as owner and manager of the cybercafé the following are specific responsibilities and duties performed:

• Develop action plans and procedures for my team performance to meet operational goals and organizational objectives.

• Develop strategic and operational plans for managing, execution and measuring results of the cyber centre.

• Perform research on new business ventures and proactively identifies risks and opportunities for improvement of the business.

• Determine the budget and periodic expenditures of the business centre.

• Occasionally conduct meetings with clients to discuss system specs, performance, needs, costs and timelines.

• Execute contract jobs that involve procurement and supply of stationeries, computers and its peripherals

• Manage project teams of variable skill sets and size dependant on project scope.

• Hire, train and guide store employees in delivering excellent customer service.

• Assign rules and responsibilities to employees for operational effectiveness.

• Monitor and manage store staff/personnel by regularly communicating and conducting performance assessments, providing feedback, and setting challenging goals to improve operational performance.

• Ensure that the office and environment is maintained according to proper sanitation and cleaning standards thereby making it safe and inviting for customers.

• Assist customers when they have trouble or questions using computer systems and application software

• Perform software installations, system maintenance, backups and networking, troubleshooting on office and clients computers.

• Provide services such as printing, scanning, internet, online registrations, downloading and other computer related operations.

• Ensure that machineries, computers and other equipments are in good working condition.

• Keep accurate records of system performance, logs and inventories of the business centre

• Set Administrative rights on computer systems, program tickets and number of minutes or hours customers use the computer or internet on networked computers.

• Banking and maintaining accounting databases by entering data using computer application software

• Preparing lesson notes for students, training and teaching student/clients on the use of computers and its applications.

• Ensure excellent customer care.

Went to interview in Accra and was told that I choose the wrong NOC.

So I want you guys to help me find the right NOC for someone that own and operate a cybercafe. Its quite heavy on me, I must confess, but I am taking it in like a man. Just incase I can reapply please someone should help me with the right NOC for a Cybercafe Manager/Owner.

5, 6, 7 or more heads are better than 1 or 2.

This is not the testimony I was hoping to drop after a year and 6 months wait, but a lesson for one is a lesson for many. Never too late to do the right thing. smiley

special thanks to Zutlin, Abubuyaya. You guys give me the courage to do this.

They're not the same

Unless of course you've had a training to be a paramedic and have a certification to show plus work experience as a paramedic.

Otherwise, it isn't the same as a Dr. or even GP.

See it this way, not all doctors are paramedics and not all paramedics are doctors.

I think it will be falsifying information rather misrepresentation.

Pls gurus in the house. I am a medical doctor, I applied for SINP Express entry last week, while filling the form, I saw 2 NOC in demand, 3111(psychiatrist) and paramedics. So I went for paramedics.
Now ITA for SINP has landed yesternight, but I have some questions.
Should I be worried about the NOC that I picked, I picked it cos I thought they are related. I am scared of misrepresentation

From the previous threads, I think a 'one and same person' affidavit should help. Be sure to include all the variants of her name in the affidavit

Maybe someone else with similar case can help?

paintadvice:
Good morning e fam,

I appreciate the work that is being done here on a daily basis.may God bless us all and give us our heart desires

Please I need clarification.

My wife is the PA and we are post ITA. We claimed points for sibling relationship( My wife's brothers live in Canada). However whilst uploading the birth certificate of my wife for the first time in her life we discovered a name discrepancy. I.e. Priscillia instead if Priscilla (The difference is the "i" after the L). Do you think this will pose an issue and what steps can we take to resolve this. Please note that every other information including date of birth, first and second name as well s name of parents are correct.

Secondly, also on my wife's ECA. There was a comment "The names on one or more of the academic credentials submitted for evaluation differ from the name indicated above" and upon careful scrutinization of her waec result, we noticed that Priscilla was spelt as "Prisclla" (ommission of "i" after C) please what can we do.

All my wife's documents carry the name Priscilla. She Also has the GCE and Neco result that bears the accurate name. Can we update the waec result given to wes to ensure a change of name on the ECA. Also will this cause the present ECA to become null.

Our deadline for submission of ITA is in about 2 weeks

Dear house, your input/advice will be appreciated

Thank you
