Elections without APC partaking |
Government is a continuity |
Former president, Goodluck Jonathan yesterday touched on some of the legacies of his administration while speaking to Friends of Africa Coalition on “Strengthening Democracy and Elections” at the mayor’s office in Newark, New Jersey, United States. Speaking to the elite group, Jonathan said the 2015 general elections in Nigeria had potential for major crisis and that the campaigns leading to the elections almost polarised the country into Christian v Muslims and North v South divide. The former president said that most world leaders were worried that the elections would result into major crisis. “Some pundits even from here in the United States said that those elections would spell the end of Nigeria and that we would cease to exist as a nation because of the polls. That is where the leadership question comes into play. “As a leader that was duly elected by the people, I considered the people’s interest first. How do I manage my people to avoid killings and destruction of properties? With the interest of the people propelling all the decisions I took, we were able to sail through. Indeed, we sailed through because I refused to interfere with the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, having appointed a man I had never met in my life to run it. “My philosophy was simple. For elections to be credible, I as a leader, must value the process more than the product of the process. And the citizens must have confidence in the electoral body,” he said. Jonathan said his strict adherence to the rule of the law ensured that Nigeria’s peace, prosperity and progress were not derailed by the conduct and results of the 2015 elections. Speaking on the other legacies of his administration, he said: “I am proud to say that while I took over a Nigeria that was the second largest economy in Africa with a GDP of $270.5 billion in 2009, I handed over a Nigeria that had grown to become the largest economy in Africa and the 24th largest economy in the World with a GDP of $574 billion. “I inherited a Nigeria in which the trains were not working, and handed over a Nigeria in which citizens can safely travel by trains again. I inherited a Nigeria that was a net importer of cement, and handed over a Nigeria that is a net exporter of cement. In 2009 the richest Nigerian was the 5th richest man in Africa, but I handed over a Nigeria that produced the richest man in Africa. “These are but a few of the parameters that illustrate some of the economic transformations we engineered during my term in office.” The former president said this success was made possible by the fact that there was a stable political leadership in Nigeria that did not have to pander to any other constituency except the electorate who brought him to power. Jonathan also argued that if the process that brought leaders to power “did not flow through the people, they naturally administered their governments to first and foremost serve the constituencies that brought them to power.” Jonathan also met with the CEO of Moskeeto Armor, Robin R. Crespo and his team as part of events leading up to the World Malaria Day on April 25th, 2016. Moskeeto Armor manufactures clothing to protect against malaria, the zika virus, Denue and other vector-borne diseases. It was successfully clinically field-tested in Nigeria in 2014. When worn by children as a standalone product, Moskeeto Armor was 90% effective at reducing the malaria infection rate, and when combined with a bed net, the Moskeeto Armor combination was 97% effective at stopping the spread of malaria. The Goodluck Jonathan Foundation is partnering with Moskeeto Armor to protect African children against malaria and other vector-borne diseases. “The simple principle of ‘Love your neighbour as you love yourself’ lays a foundation of commitment to protecting nations,” said Jonathan during the meeting with Moskeeto Armor. Continuing, he said “these crises caused by such small insects, transmitting these deadly diseases, have devastated so many lives across Africa and the world, but with one just as small idea, there is hope for a better tomorrow.” source:www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2016/04/23/in-new-jersey-jonathan-lists-his-legacies/

If you knew how powerful sex was you wouldn't have it with just anybody. During sex there's two different exchanges that take place: a physical and spiritual. Most grown adults are aware of the physical exchange. But the second is the spiritual which most people don't know about. The Physical Consequence When you have sex with someone, you exchange or obtain whatever spirit(s) they have as well. You take on their qualities , behaviors, ideology Etc. GOOD OR BAD behavior of that sex partner will become a part of you. Sex was intended for one man and one woman. So many problems come as a result of sex outside of marriage. Disease and unplanned pregnancy are just the scratching the surface. The Spiritual Consequence You enter into a covenant with that other persons spirit. This happens every time you have sex with a person. And In addition to this, Whoever they have had sex with you are definitely attached to those people's spirits as well. This is why there's so many people with multiple personalities, who are dibbling and dabbling in this and that , who are confused , and all messed up in their thoughts , feelings and behavior. They are dealing with their own personality as well as the other people they have physically and spiritually connected themselves too. The person you could be laying with could be full of the devil and now you are as well connected to the same demon. In Conclusion Sex is a beautiful thing, its fun and exciting when done in God's way. don't be promiscous, just wait. Save sex until marriage, God knows how it feels and what it does. He created it, but He also put boundaries in place because He knows what can happen when people get careless with it. The good news is this doesn't have to be you. If you haven't already engaged in sexual activity then don't. Save it for your husband or wife. If you have don't do it anymore. Ask God to discipline you to wait and take away the desire because it's definitely hard to stop wanting something that is good to you after you've had it. Take your pick, either run the risk of sleeping with THE ENEMY or waiting and being in the Ark of safety in marriage. God bless you all.

The alleged money laundering charge against former governor of plateau, Joshua Dariye, was on Tuesday stalled because of the absence of EFCC witness. The absence of the witness made, Justice Adebukola Banjoko of FCT High Court, to adjourn the case till May 9 and May10. EFCC counsel Leke Atolagbe said that the commission’s key witness, expected from outside the shores of the country, had not arrived. “There are some procedures to follow in order to bring him to the country,’’ Atolagbe said. Dariye is being prosecuted by the EFCC on a 23-count charge bordering on money laundering and diversion of the state ecological funds. EFCC alleged that the former governor siphoned the state ecological fund to the tune of N1.16 billion. The commission on April 4, fielded a forensic expert to testify against Dariye over the signatures on the bank mandate card of Ebenezer Retnan Ventures. Dariye and his counsel, Garba Pwul were present in court. (NAN) source:sunnewsonline.com/absence-of-efccs-witness-stalls-dariyes-trial/

A cleric, Bishop Francis Wale-Oke, has urged the Senate to drop the ongoing process of amending the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) Act. He made the call at a news conference in Ibadan on “The State of the Nation” on Monday. Oke, who is the President, Sword of the Spirit Ministries, described the proposed amendments as “self-serving and ill-timed and not in the interest of the nation’’. “Amending the Act will amount to further tying down the nation’s progress and effeminate the fight against corruption as being championed by President Muhammadu Buhari. “As a representative of the church, I am calling on the Senate to drop the move to amend the Act; the move is suspicious, ill-timed and self-serving,” he said. The President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, is currently undergoing trial at the CCT over alleged failure to declare his assets when he was governor of Kwara between 2003 and 2011. Oke said that ongoing efforts by the senate to amend the Act put a mark on its integrity and dignity. “Our expectation with this new administration was that the three arms of government would work hand-in-hand for the progress of this nation. “However, this latest move by the Senate makes it to look like the legislative arm is trying to institutionalise and shield corruption. “It is as if the Legislature is working against the change mantra of the Executive as seen in the scriptures that righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach. “Thus, so long as we continue to shield corruption, we will be working against our future,” he said. According to him, the legislature must be seen to be fighting against corruption instead of encouraging it the way the CCT Act is about to be rendered a toothless bull dog if successfully amended. He urged the senate to allow law to take its course and leave any amendment till an opportune time. Oke said that the church was fervently praying against perpetuation of corruption in the country, quoting verses from scriptures. “Should the senate fail to heed the advice, it will not succeed because God is not delighted in unrighteousness. “The church is saying no; Nigerians are saying no. “God will step in and He will overturn their plan because He will not allow anybody to keep Nigeria down,” he said. The cleric, who said that his call was not personal against Saraki, said that the senate as an entity which superseded an individual or a group should save its credibility. “Instead of dissipating energy on the amendment, the Senate should attend to critical issues in the nation, such as the budget, Chibok girls, infrastructure and human trafficking. “We have pressing issues like epileptic power problem, deplorable infrastructure, the abducted Chibok girls, insecurity and fuel problem to be addressed by the senate,” he said.
