Akwaibomdaily: …Remodeling commences at Uyo Stadium Complex
Fresh from the completion of the new Eket Township Stadium, Governor Udom Emmanuel has flagged off the construction of a first ever Olympic-sized swimming pool in Akwa Ibom state.
The sporting facility geared towards encouraging athletes in the state to excel in swimming exercises, is located at the Uyo Township stadium, currently undergoing remodeling.
The Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Sir Monday Uko, led journalists on a tour of the stadium stated that the directive for the construction of the swimming pool came from Governor Udom Emmanuel who also instructed that the stadium remodeling exercise be completed urgently.
“His Excellency has directed that an Olympic-sized swimming pool be constructed in Uyo Township Stadium and he has also directed that the stadium be completed. We are in the era of his completion agenda and no project is going to be left uncompleted”.
According to Sir Monday Uko, the 13th biennial Police Games will be held in Akwa Ibom State from 20th November, 2022.
“The Nigerian Police Force is having their sports competition in Akwa Ibom State. His Excellency, the Governor has also graciously accepted to host the event.
“It is going to attract over 10,000 police men and about 39 sporting events will be competed for in the state.”
The sports commissioner decried Akwa Ibom athletes' abysmal performances during swimming events at national sporting competitions, but stated that with the construction of the swimming pool, their performance will improve tremendously.
“In the entire state, we do not have an Olympic-sized swimming pool and most of the time, when we go for sports festivals, swimming comes with a lot of medals and Akwa Ibom never had a place where athletes can practice and win these medals.
“The moment this swimming pool is completed, I am very certain our position in the national sports festival will improve tremendously,” said Sir Monday Uko who was flanked by his counterpart from the Ministry of Environment, Sir Charles Udoh.
The construction engineers who hail from Akwa Ibom gave an overview of the specifications of the facilities to be constructed and expressed satisfaction at the level of cooperation and support provided them by the government for the completion of the project.
Engr. Bassey who spoke on behalf of other engineers said, “for a complete construction of a swimming pool, the electrical, structural, and mechanical engineers will be present for the work to be professionally handled.
The accepted standard for an Olympic-sized swimming pool is 50 meters by 25 meters. As engineers, we have come in, every necessary test will be done right from the soil to the concrete to the steel. The design is out and it is going to be wonderful when it is finished.
“Now, we will have to incorporate other areas of recreation and buildings that will help the facility to work very well.
“This directive comes from His Excellency through my boss, and I assure you, it will be delivered as all hands will be on deck.”
As at the time of filing the report, earth moving equipments were seen clearing the site of the project.

A tale of a Big Thief telling people how he'll catch other Thieves Maybe he'll fight and stop others from stealing, while he does the stealing himself, who knows
Wike is like a drowning man, he's looking for anything to hold onto to stay afloat.
The only reason he's still in the PDP is that he has a successor who's the PDP governorship flagbearer in his state, else he would have joined the APC since.
You're deceiving yourself... Cos only time will tell.
May be na you hate Atiku for north and not the real northerners
Viraltrends123: almost all northern state governors are APC, Ganduje have strong hold in Kano, so as Zulun in Borno, so as El-rufai in Kaduna, so as Katsina, plus the power of incumbency. Infact Tinubu will pack 70% of northern votes, only if you know the hatred for Atiku in the north, Atiku doesn't stand a chance, Obi doesn't have any south, stop decieving yourself, he won't even win Anambra except Soludo supports him. Few months to go, you will see yourself. Obi will hardly get 50k votes in southwest and south south.
With all that the FG used Oil Money to do for Lagos State, Lagos should have been competing with the likes of Dubai, Cape Town, Johannesburg, etc.
Lagos's Success story did not start with Tinubu and won't end with him.
Just like Abuja today, if by tomorrow the FCT is moved from Abuja to somewhere else today, One Abuja man will come and claim the glory of making Abuja what it is abi
All the things(assets) that became money spinners for Lagos State today from the seaport to the Airport etc. were all built by the FG with the nation's resources.
gloryhomemaker: This video gives a detailed explanation of how to safely bleach palm oil without any fumes or a choking environment. It's quick and easy to follow steps in a 2 minutes video.
All you need is a pot with a non-perforated lid and palm oil.
Pour palm oil into a pot with a tight lid. Cover and cook on the lowest heat for 20 minutes without opening the lid at all. After 20 minutes, put off the heat and allow it to cool for another 20 minutes before opening the pot. You can cook in large quantities and store for use anytime needed, that way you save gas. No fumes, no choking, no air pollution, no coughing, no near-fire incidence, etc.
Niger-Deltans have gone through things worst than these from the Oil Multinationals operating in the region for decades now... And when they complain some of you guys will come here and start spewing trash.
It's good that this documentary was done to show the havoc that some of these firms are wrecking in our communities, from environmental pollution to what have you.
But on the other hand, Citizens should do away with this mindset of trying to put the blame of a failed government on private firms or multinationals.
There's a limit to what these firms can do in terms of CRS, it's the government that should use the taxes that they are collecting from these firms and fix these infrastructures.
Climate change has taken a serious toll on us and yet we still don't want to do something about it. Human unruly activities have done so much harm to our environment and now our environment has begun to shed tears.
This one occurs on the Rivers State axis of the East-West road:
Commuters on the Yenagoa-Amassoma road in Bayelsa state were left stranded recently after the road split into two due to heavy flooding.
A video shared online showed commuters standing on both ends of the road, watching helplessly as water flowing like a river passed through the broken road.
She didn't do anything wrong here. Cos the President's body language didn't show that he wanted a handshake from Teni, else He the President would have brought his hand first then Teni shook him and not the other way round. That's how it's done.
Your comment is really preposterous. Do you know that Anambra does not have even a quarter of the security infrastructure that Lagos has
The number of Military Barracks, Cantonments, Police Barracks, etc, and their capacities in Lagos can not be measured with any other state in the East. Even if you try to combine all the security infrastructures in all the South-Eastern states, Lagos still has more than the entire SE.
So are you telling Nigerians that it was Tinubu that built nor set up all these security infrastructures in Lagos When we all know that all these facilities were provided by the FG.
Whatsoever Lagos is today, it is because the FG made Lagos benefit from the nation's resources more than any other state in the entire federation.
it's like telling us that one Abuja man single-handedly built Abuja to be what it is today
BATified2023: Imagine someone who left anambra because of unknown gunmen telling u to vote obi
Imagine someone who left anambra to become an okada man in osun telling u to vote obi
No b ment b that?
It’s just like leaving Nigeria for USA because of insecurity n later when u get comfortable at usa then u want Nigeria leaders to rule usa no b ment b dat?
I wish every supporter can go n stay in the state his candidate governed till after election
Those supporting obi should go n stay in anambra till after election
Those supporting tinubu should b in lagos till after election
Those supporting atiku should b in adamawa till after election
It’s annoying when u want us to vote people who made u leave your region cos of tribal affliation
This hypocrite who talks from the both sides of his mouth lacks the moral right to say a thing like this.
Pre 2015 this hypocrite was a self-acclaim so-called human right activist because he was not eating from the national cake, he protested against fuel subsidy and today he's the same person here supporting everything evil in this failed government including defending the very fuel subsidy that he protested against under GEJ regime.
No sane human being should take this man who eats his vomits seriously.
