Remii:didn't know that. . .no wonder the thing dey pain them, if i dey shell out a cool million in taxes e go hard me o. . . |
tpia1:your point was that nigerians would pay the toll if they went abroad isn't it? i'm not against the toll in any form, my point is that the way the LASG went about it leaves A WHOLE LOT to be desired, why would you start collecting a toll when there's still K-leg about the alternative route? that's my major beef with this whole issue. |
tpia1:that's not a viable point, it's not only the wealthy that will be affected by the toll. |
malikalhaj:abi o. . . @samir hotspot dey ceddi plaza? i dey see cafe vergano for that your picture. . . |
tpia1:@tpia did you read the parts of the people's arguments where they stated that the alternative route wasn't viable?(heck the govt even states it as one of the reasons for suspending the toll) i like the idea of tolling and knowing the plans govt has for lekki(LFTZ) it's obvious govt is thinking far ahead. @thread like Jacobs123 said, why did the govt have to take away an existing road from it's citizens? why didn't they build a new road from scratch? |
as per the meet-up, as long as it's on a weekend and there's palmwine being served i'm in ![]() @thread mennnn. . .i cant wait for this season to be over. I want to start work already. |
@Jarus and Odunnu thanks. . .i didn't get the memo where it said we had to state who we voted for ![]() @Jcob thanks man, you know we have to hang out this year sha. . . @Mukina2 thanks @DK I remain loyal(as long as arsenal is not concerned). . .thanks @Tollu thanks. . .no mind them jo, after i don dey tell my neighbours say i don win car for NL. . . ![]() |
Congrats CC. . . |
Abiodun234:hey. . .welcome to NL, why dont you join us on the electrical engineers thread |
@BB, B_B, Ileke-Idi,T-girl, Zayhal etc wishing you all a happy new year. . . @Ileke-idi where's Sissy? any idea? |
*sigh* anyways, @OP(not corrupt) i'm curios. . .when you ask for 2million a month, is it because that's what you are earning now(circa 8000 GBP) or because that's what you think reasonable living wages should be for someone of your profile? |
Thanks people. . .i'm really touched, no be small thing. ![]() @Semid appreciate the love man. . .even if you abandoned me at that village ![]() @aieromon lol. . .didn't know you visited this part of NL, but i dey follow you on the other zones sha. . . ![]() @Tolulop001 my person. . .i dey watch that your thread for when you write your exams o. . .the boys are rooting for you! @Ajanlekoko My oga, i remain loyal. . .you know i cant rest until i become like you now. . . ![]() |
@the one i agree with you. . .henceforth everyone with dreams of coming back to naija to earn millions should state their profile before telling us their dreams, it's easy to claim competent. The way some people talk you'd think there were no qualified staff in naija the thing dey vex person. Ileke-IdI:@ileke-idi o wa lara e. . .see the way you're saying let us know as if you qualify. . .berra come and join people like me at the bottom of the food chain 3million ke? |
Beaf:the lack of gas is the excuse, the reason for the shutdown is the overload, gas shortage is NNPCs wahala, the loading of the units(generators) is PHCNs wahala. It's just that it's easier for them to say 'lack of gas' and the illiterate reporter will chop hook, line and sinker. something that doesn't help matters when it comes to overloading is that We dont have a functioning governor control system at most of our power stations. Although one thing to always remember is that you dont give electricity supply to people per se, as in, you cant say i have 100MW, i'll give you 95, it's left to the person drawing the power to limit himself to 95, if he doesn't all you can do is cut him off(that has it's own risks and can also result in a system collapse to), you cant limit him to 95MW. oh . . .merry xmas to you too. |
denzel2009:MTN that owes it diesel suppliers abi? http://dailytrust.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4404:n300m-debt-nupeng-stops-diesel-supplies-to-mtn&catid=3:business&Itemid=3 http://pmnewsnigeria.com/2010/10/21/n964m-suit-slammed-on-mtn-communication/ |
Beaf:i see someone has been reading the power sector roadmap. . .lol @thread it takes a couple of days(sometimes even weeks) to recover from a system collapse, so no one should expect things to get better immediately and a system collapse isn't caused by lack of gas, it's caused by the generators being overloaded(in extremely simple english) |
@OP 2mill a month isn't a big deal to some companies, however, it has to be based on the individual in questions skill set, you have to really have something to offer, fact is, 4 out of 5 returnees only have their much vaunted integrity and not much more. you mentioned cisco in one of your posts, do you have a CCIE? that'd be a good start. that said, that's more than what i earn in a year. . .lol |
@maro23 Maybe i'd have a better understanding of your point if you could explain the steps that government should/could take to bring about the idea you're trying to pass across. I'm saying this cos it seems we're going back and forth over the same issue, and maybe if we take a look at it from another angle things'll make more sense. I'm off the opinion that by leaving majority of the power sector investments to private companies(in a sense), the government is doing the right thing. I think the money saved could be put to better uses, what's your take? |
@AdeCisco i dont plan to work forever o. . .i just need to get enough skill/knowledge and credibility. . .i like you post BTW |
samir101ng:i don dey doubt sey you be banker o. . .lol |
maro23:telecoms is not an industry. . .buying thousands of generators does not translate to a power station the difference in the cost per kwh makes your suggestion less feasible, i dont know which industry would want to generate their own power at double the cost. . . |
samir101ng:they mean business o. . .i go try reach there when i enter lagos |
Tolulop001:it's not only girls o. . .i don begin dey wonder whether |
the manual can be foundhere. . . i must say, reading it made me upset, there's brazen talk about redeploying officers simply because of their loyalty and about bribing delegates and offering their family members positions. . . GEJ appears to be surrounded by crooks, doesn't speak good about him. P.S. i'm sure atiku is doing the same thing but that doesn't make it right |
my lounging clothes. . .t-shirt and three-quarters, i'm hawt ![]() |
Dahbutter:I'll agree with you on something. . .GEJ's statement was pretty stupid, I'm guessing someone told him to toot his horn a bit, but that's where it ends. about a thousand megawatts of the NIPP stations are scheduled to come online in the first quarter of next year, that's where the 'reasonable' comes from. . . anyone that has read the roadmap would know that GEJ is simply restating what's in there, given the nature of the power supply industry, he cant promise you constant electricity, but the roadmap sets a goal of better quality, higher reliability and predictability of supply. @maro23 your argument would make more sense if the govt was planning to spend it's money on the power sector, it isn't! the point of the reforms are to channel money(OPP) into the sector. Furthermore, since the quantum of money needed(even with OPP) would be large, govt is getting help from the world bank interms of partial-risk guarantees. I seriously think the world bank wouldn't agree to back us if we were to put the cart before the horse. It's not right to say that industry should come first and use telecoms as an example, different industries have different characteristics when it comes to electricity consumption. Telecoms isn't intensive(typically, one of the most load intensive equipment in a base station is the airconditioning) and for oil and gas sector, they build their own power stations. OPP: other peoples money. |
blacksta:@Blacksta GEJ said 'first quarter of his administration if elected': the 'of his administration' qualifies the word quarter, meaning he was referring to the first three months after his election not the first three months of the year. . . I'm of the opinion that if you weren't so taken up with expressing your dislike for GEJ you wouldn't have made such an obvious mistake. @Beaf you're gradually morphing into NLs very own FFK(Femi Fani-Kayode). . .normally you should've have picked up Blacksta's faux pas but you also were too caught up in the moment(or is it mood?) to notice. @maro23 why are you using the cost of solar generation to estimate costs of generation? it's common knowledge that solar is much more expensive(in terms of capital) than fossil. |
nice thread, I wonder how I managed to miss it. I think I'm a cross between A and C, I have idealist leanings, but more than anything, I know what I want out of a job and I go for it! |
Merry Christmas people. . . @diggler that your generousity never complete o. . .you for like send some dead presidents come my side now ![]() @yodiyokun hope y'all are feeling better now. . . |
