when the government doesn't have enough money to fund the power drive what do you expect them to do?
and as per the price increase you mentioned, the government generates electricity at a cost of 10naira per kwh and presently it is sold at 6 naira per kwh, a loss of 4 naira for every kilowatt hour. Does that make sense?
PHCN earns close to 10billion everymonth but it's commitments are 17billion per month, so the shortfall of 7 billion comes from government. So in simple english, for PHCN to break even(we're not even talking about funding the needed infrastructure o) there has to be an increase in price. |

That is what our president blindly is using to exemplify to youths?
Ridiculous!!! the retard you're listening to didn't mention how uti was the only housemate that respected the women, with one housemate getting into a shoving match with a female housemate, if the guy was nigerian we wouldn't have heard the end of the matter, about how nigerian men are no good, woman-beating fraudsters. Fact remains that out of all the males in the house, uti was the best. Even the housemates themselves realized this. Gbawe: My brother , this is a very intelligent post along with your first contribution to this thread. The dangers of these type of threads is that they become a congregation ground for the desperate opponents of Ribadu who , in the eyes of Nigerians , do not have anywhere near Ribadu's record of brave service to his nation. It is then puzzling that this thread is started by a Ribadu fan.
Jonathan and some other candidates , undoubtedly and by far, are much easier target for criticism than Ribadu as far as suitability for top office goes . Ribadu is a good man. Far more sincere than most. He has things to learn but he will learn them. His supporters should not be guilty of criticising him publicly and supplying opponents with ammunition. IBB and Jonathan fans are not doing such despite their candidates actually being much poorer than Ribadu. Some fans of Jonathan would welcome a respite from the onslaught their candidate is recieving for his ineptitude and weakness. Simultaneously they would welcome the chance to rail against the opposition. I knew what this thread would become and this is why , after my initial comments, I saw no need to return to it until your very insightful contribution. byeeeeee. . . oyb: voting with your pockets yes ke. . . @thread i dont know who the guy has around him, it's obvious they're not telling him the truth. . .the guy needs serious coaching. |

GEJ is as visionless as they come. The power supply blue print has never been a problem.the problem has always been a political will to execute a meaningful plan and a leadership to see it through. The ability of GEJ as an individual is desecration of the hallowed office of the presidency. In a country where fraudsters, ritual killers and religious jingoists are lawmakers and governors, people like you can afford to celebrate mediocrity and attempt to entrench it. not exactly. . .obj had a plan in 2005 or something, it was good, but it wasn't as good as GEJs roadmap. |

Beaf: Ribadu speaks worse English and has less charisma than GEJ. That is not debatable. GEJ can put a big vision forward (eg power supply), while Ribadu has repeatedly floundered at every single question in every interview. In fact, all of his interviews have been bloody alarming.
Make no mistake about it though, Ribadu is a man of the future, he is just a rough diamond whose only real error is lack of experience outside a uniform, he needs to sort that out and learn to operate in a civilian World where nothing happens "immediately," (a word he uses too often). The rest of his mistakes stem from that lack of civilian experience, get him a four-year stint as a senator or rep and see the difference.
Ribadu's inexperience shows itself in more than one way; the scariest however, is the way he allowed himself to be bamboozled into the top hierarchy of politics by a willy old fox, Bola Tinubu. It is widely known that Tinubu has several open criminal files, most opened by Ribadu himself. It is arguable that Tinubu does not care about an ACN presidency as much as he cares about neutralising the man who gave him such grief. In talking Ribadu into the plum job, Tinubu has insured himself against any trial in which Ribadu will be a witness of any weight.
Ribadu’s second display of inexperience is his willingness to talk down PDP, where he and the likes of El-Rufai stand to gain most from the defeat of the old Northern forces. After that task is completed, the mantle of Northern leadership would fall naturally into the laps a younger, progressive breed. But where will Ribadu be, in limbo? A newbie in Ribadu's shoes shouldn't talk down any political party.
Right now, Ribadu is headed nowhere. He is simply Tinubu’s latest get out of jail card and expensive plaything. Anyone arguing against my assertion will do better asking why Ribadu is never well prepared for any interview; it seems Tinubu and ACN are pretty relaxed about the prospect of their representative self-destructing. Why? Other political parties would get interview questions before hand and get their candidate groomed and well prepared. Why not ACN?
I hope Ribadu can see the trap he has fallen into and back out. on point!!! saying i'm impressed with this post is understating things. . . now if you could be this objective where GEJ is concerned. . . |

Sagamite: What is fiercely contested?
I can guess that it was done through some voting system? Am I wrong?
Does that not mean th country with higher population, easier access to technology and high average income would have an upper hand in voting?
What is the achievement?
You think the organisers give a hoot apart from making dough off the voting?
What hard work and superiorly exemplary work did Uti do to warrant presidential exemplification to the audience (which is the youths)?
I would rather the president highlight the disabled weightlifters at commonwealth games that won all medals (Gold to Bronze) in both male and female events to motivate others? @saga voting is by bloc, all the votes in a country count as one so population isn't that much of an advantage(the fact that nigeria and zimbabwe were the favourites alone is enough to show that). . .nigeria doesn't have any advantage as far as the other parameters you listed are cpncerned. BBA5 became about nationality with most people not wanting uti to win simply because he was nigerian, uti's victory is a triumph for nigeria because when people realised that it was fast becoming a nation vs nation thing, nigerians rallied around uti, and truth be told, uti's win is more of a victory for nigeria than you realise, a trip to any of the various fan pages for bigbrother even on FB will show you so, most people aren't saying 'uti cheated' they are saying big brother cheated for nigeria. In a competition that spanned at least 14 countries(heck people in the uk were even voting to make sure naija won), having your country come out tops is not beans by any stretch, anyone that witnessed all the stategising that was done here on NL will know that the victory is naija's as much as uti's. |

mikeansy: I have also said this too, Ribadu's articulation is shameful . . . . I consider him a great public servant but I do not believe he is a Presidential material.
Folks claim how a leader communicates does not matter, but nothing can be more further from the truth because communication does matter. Go look at every administration in this country since independence, they have had wonderful policies written down on paper but failed on implementation. Nothing hampers policy implementation more than inability to inspire people to believe in your programmes. Ability to get people to believe in your programmes has a lot to do with leadership and communication ability. free inspiring people sef, when you cant communicate your ideas effectively how do you expect people to understand them?
Sometimes when I listen to Azikiwe, Ojukwu, Abubakaw Tafawa Balewa I wonder how we came to this.
For all of the criticisms about Shagari's leadership abilities, even Shagari's communication skills puts Ribadu and GEJ to shame.
This is very embarrassing and these folks should go and upgrade themselves or allow space for those who can do the job. you put this more clearly than i could ever hope to. . .however, i must warn you that if we both run for president i will beat you 'cos Mr. anti-corruption is my middle name |

Romance › Indiscriminate Kissing May Cause Sore Throat - Medical Doctor by netotse(op): 11:42am On Oct 19, 2010 |
Indiscriminate kissing, nail and biro chewing, are some of the causes of sore throat, according to a medical doctor.
Enema Amodu, an Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) consultant at the Garki Hospital, Abuja, said that people should be more hygiene-conscious.
“Adults especially should desist from chewing their nails, putting biros in their mouths, kissing indiscriminately, and watch what they eat,” he said.
Dr. Enema described sore throat as anything that causes impediment in the normal function of the throat’s areas, which present some difficulties in swallowing.
He also likened indiscriminate kissing to having multiple sex partners, saying “when a person kisses all that comes to his or her way, the person is bound to get an infection, which could cause sore throat.”
He said children were often susceptible to sore throat because of the injurious materials they put in the mouths, which could be hot food or anything that causes pain in their throat.
“If you put injurious materials in the mouth, the tonsils that fight infections in the throat will get inflamed or traumatised, and this will definitely lead to soreness of the throat,” he said.
The doctor advised the young and the old to be conscious of changes in their body, as sore throat could be accompanied by headache and fever, especially high fever.
He added that any sore throat taking longer to heal should be referred to a health care professional.

I am surprise to hear this. Do people here in nigeria really have indiscriminate mouth to mouth kiss? Is it on the road or where? I believe nigerians have more of indiscriminate sex than kiss, as most nigerian women don't even like kissing. That must be a foreign research.

Guys since indiscriminate kissing causes sore throat, its now better to do it selectively, purposely & discriminately. May be we should also start using mouth condom to enable us kiss freely.

never mind the line above, what is the main purpose of a president coming to facebook? if u think it is to post topics or comments, u are wrong because it is to hear our opinions on topics of interests. are you comparing your schedule to that of the CinC? that has to be the most inane comparison i've come across this year. . .so when GEJ wants to browse, he has to 1. walk to the computer 2. switch on the computer 3. Connect to the internet(which may take some time) 4. Login to facebook (and in that space of time, the naira would have crashed. . .smh, Nigeria is ruined) orangemen: if any of u have seen the comments on our presents comments, he or she will agree with me that our president will either ignore everyother issue and read through thousands of comments from nigerians or ignore the same ppl he has come to listen to. uncle, if someone is reading and posting on behalf of our president, the idea of listening to us is defeated because that same one will only be interested in telling him abt how nigerians are praising him. i read and comment on the president's fb comments and i tell u in confidence that even computers cannot stand the number of comments on every topic no wonder cnn confirmed that jonathan's fb comments are more than the german councilors, obama's uk prime minister and one other popular person's comments join together. with these few points of mine, i am sure i v been able to convience u that his facebook appearance here makes little or no sense. by the way, what is the need of asking seeking our opinions when our problems are too open and self announced that even the deaf and dumb and the blind can see and hear them. let jonathan start with these generational problems like power supply, security, schools, roads, police and corruption and we will see the seriousness in him and not decieving us by this facebook nonsense. how does not know the above mentioned problems in nigeria and how does coming to facebook bring solution to any of them? guy. . .one word comes to mind when i read this your write up. . . parochial |
