when i did diploma 2 entrance exam(2003), the cut off was 100 out of 200, (the next year, the total score was reduced to 100) that was for an engineering course, other courses had their own cut-offs.
to enter year 2, the cut-off was 3.2 or 3.5 i cant remember
Sagamite: FACT: Hamas are terrorists and Isreal is a State Terrorist a lot of times.
this statement is true. . .
@frosbel read the wikipedia article on the gaza blockade. . .from it you can deduce that it's not only cement and steel that are not allowed in.
i support israel totally, but i'm not prepared to deceive myself that there aren't things that they can do better!
@beaf in this case it isn't a case of israel(we) is right and you(pseudo-activists) are wrong, it's a case of both sides having done wrong sturvs. so you see, you have a simplistic view of things. that's why kids aren't meant to mess around with the adults toys
individual departments will set their cut-off marks o, so a 2.5gpa might get you into an education course, but it sure as hell wont get you into an engineering course
plus the cut-offs are set based on the grades, so if a lot of ppl do well, the cut-off'll be much higher. . .
Beaf: ^ Yes I agree with the activists a 100%. Every human has a duty to stand up to wickedness and injustice.
there you see. . .it wasn't that hard
simply means you just might be the kinda person that'd steal from your boss and say it was because he underpaid you. . .to me, what's wrong is wrong, they attacked the soldiers and some people died, if they hadn't attacked the soldiers would there have been casualties?
anyway i'm done with this thread, it sickens me when i see people that feel that other people have to be wrong for them to be right.
Beaf: "Spawn of lucifer"? . . .Anyways, I have always pointed out that Western protesters are the most provocative, difficult and tenacious bunch of people you can ever come across. Like I said in a reply to you above, the protesters set out to expose certain things and they have succeeded brilliantly, because Israel reacted overwhelmingly disproportionate violence and bravado. Why the need for helicopters? Why raid at night? Why have navy seals in dinghies performing crazy stunts and zig-zagging around civilian boats? We are talking about the special forces units of a developed country here, not some rag tag militia.
Have you seen the way the same country boarded the Rachel Corrie today? It was civilisation to the core; why such a vast difference in one week? Perhaps, they are learning to drop thuggish behaviour.
could it be because the charities sponsoring the 2nd round of ships are known to abhor violence and have no links to the IHH(or whatever their name is) which supports hamas?
you said 'western protesters are. . .', how many western protesters do you see in the videos shown? esp the ones depicting the violence? as i said, your 'western protesters' allowed themselves to be used as pawns in a game that had far more at stake than bags of rice!
P.S. 'you western protesters. . .' doesn't mean anything, you're dodging the question, as usual. . .DO YOU AGREE WITH WHAT THE ACTIVISTS DID? i.e. if you were involved, would you go about it the same way?
oh. . .and the spawn of evil part refers to coho-whats-his-name and his God punish israel rants. . .funny fella!
you see beaf, this is where i take issues with you lot. . .their goal wasn't to expose jack, their goal was to provoke israel and make them look bad, i'm sure there are better ways to expose such things.
y'all refuse to admit that the first set of activists were a scam, the second despite all the evidence that has been amassed, can you honestly say you agree intoto with all the 'activists' did? you lot have consistently refused to answer that question, er'time it's asked y'all come up with a post about how israel is the spawn of lucifer and all. . .
Beaf: I've tried to post excepts of that article but the spambot keeps gobbling it. read down to the reaction of the United Nations; the whole blockade thing is shocking and evil.
i read the entire thing. . .yep truth be told from the article, it seems israel has gone about it in a way that causes avoidable suffering to many, i'm sure if they wanted hey could avoid that. . .
however those pseudo-activists have only served to make matters worse.
ok. . .i read the wikipedia article and from it i can see that israel is restricting the amount and types of aid that is allowed into gaza, i mean why should you turn stuff back because it is a luxury?
that said. . .i still dont blame them for the events on the ship!
BOMANY: Call for economic boycott of Israel
Hundreds of activists from across Britain marched through central London on Saturday demanding an economic boycott of Israel to force it to lift its blockade of Gaza. Raising anti-Israeli slogans and carrying banners that said “End the siege of Gaza,” “Free Palestine” and “Justice will prevail,” protesters also urged the United Nations to impose sanctions against Israel for not implementing its resolution calling for an end to the blockade. The march, jointly organised by Palestinian and anti-war groups, started from Downing Street and culminated into a noisy protest at the Israeli embassy which has been a scene of violent confrontations in the past. Protesters included activists who were on the Gaza aid flotilla controversially raided by Israeli commandos earlier in the week. Addressing the rally at the embassy, they said the number of people killed in the Israeli raid was more than nine. Six activists, they claimed, were still missing. Ismael Patel of Friends of al-Aqsa group said the attack was wholly “unprovoked.” “No warning was given,” he said demanding an independent international inquiry. In a statement, organisers of the march called for a public boycott of Israeli goods.
i just might not be off the mark. . .you emboldened the headline and then pasted an entirely different article under it, are you trying to mislead people?
Donpuzo: Although DC is saying things jokingly, but there are some useful facts to gain from his humorous words.
Nigerian Government have not placed the right things in place to enable even old men like me achieve our dreams.
In most countries, they are exposed to the internet free of charge, while i had to be big enough to pay my connection fee to Zoom Mobile, to enable me obtain knowledge of common Hypertext Markup Language.
I remember when i blew up the first tokunbo system my dad bought from Computer Village, the man almost murdered me,
But the young guy deserve applause and i hope he goes far. Currently looking for a babe to impregnate, so as to start training the outcome as a Programmer!
na wa o. . .these anti-israel people sef, they are just using style to ignore the videos and articles infact they are ignoring anything that doesn't support their points. . .
are we saying(i speak for myself) that israel was right to 'kill' them? NO what we're saying is that, israel didn't set out to storm the ship and kill the 'activists', the activists set out to provoke israel to action, and while israel prolly didn't forsee the shit that hit the fan, there's no way any sane person can lay all the blame on them!
jdoss: I read an article that says Etisalat also bought bandwidth on Main-One. Based on an e-mail I received, I think swift might also be with them. What really interests me is the Price. Initially, I was hearing $400 for an E-1(this was back in 2008). As of 2009, I was hearing under $2000 for an E-1(with differing levels depending on amount and duration). I just wonder what they are quoting customers today.
One last thing, I spoke to someone high up in Zain, and he says they are currently upgrading their network to LTE. He says it should be launched in the next 2 months.
flyuche: these guys can't run a 3G network( HSPA) efficiently, you 're talking about LTE.
abeg can someone break this down for the boys. . .no vex o
i checked wikipedia but there's too much irrelevant data there, what i grabbed was that LTE is 3.9G(they have come again o, first it was 2.5G)
@er'one if someone wants to study international affairs and public affairs (or whatever they call it sha) does the person have to do gre? is is there another exam?
I think a Law degree is okay if thats what you want, but remember that there are differences between the British Legal System and Nigeria's Legal System. That something you need to research. However, I do know a lot professionals in Business add an LLB to their qualifications because understanding the law helps in the business world. I'm not sure how an Msc in Economics will enhance you except you want to work in policy development, central bank, world bank or become a professor. Their is another economist on this forum, he may have more insight.
Never do a master degree for the sake of it!, Work experience trumps Msc anyday for a fresh graduate.
hey. . .it's been ages, you didn't follow er'one else to NN did you?
well in nigeria, if he's coming back, a masters will do him more good than a law degree, getting two bachelors' will just make you overqualified in naija, plus i dont know many ppl with british undergraduate law degrees in naija(i know only one), dont know much about the finance or econs field sha, tkb or jarus might be able to shed more light there.
Beaf: Aside from pledging to free every last one of the hostages, Israel has now also pledged to let every last fibre of the aid on the boats through to Gaza . . . So what silly point were they trying to make with the storming of civilian volunteer aid ships in international waters?
Israel has been backing down in the face of international fury all day today, why understand only violence like an ill brought up thug? The Arab countries that attacked them in the past have long since been beaten, now they are blockading less than half a million Palestinians with their full military might. What a shame! What a disgrace!
israel isn't known for keeping hostages now(they just kill them. . .no time), beafie dear, you have it all wrong, israel got what they want. . .the nuisancesactivists didn't break the blockade and they got to search the aid, what more were they asking?
we've been here before, all the UN can do is make noise, what else do they want to do?invade israel?
BOMANY: The worse than the massacre that Israel perpetuated, is reading the same repeated lies of the shallow heads, like Davilyn. Once a wise man said that the problem of ignorance is that goes undoubtedly
What are you arguing about? The whole world condemned the Israeli bloody crime even its close friends and you want to stand defending the massacre!!!
The problem you believe that the holy bible is a historical or geographic book perhaps even a mathematical one, which is not. You have not read any book apart of church books.
The case here is not arguing who have been first in Palestine, though it doesn’t need much argument as the undeniable facts are available. The case here is how to stop Israel of committing more crimes against humanity.
Open your eyes on the clear facts so that piece in your skull can work functionally
parlez-vous anglais?
davidylan: This was indeed all about "aid" . . .
Gaza flotilla participants created war atmosphere before confronting Israel Participants chanted Islamic battle cry invoking killing of Jews and called for Martyrdom - http://palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=157&doc_id=2323
you know, i'm starting to wonder what the peace activists were doing while the folks in this video where doing their thing. . .
nobel laureate dude(to rich businessman):so old chap, how's business been this year with the global meltdown and all. . .
rich business chap:so so, and it's about to get worse with those bloody tories in government now. . .(interrupted by the swedish writer)
swedish writer:i wonder what those fellows next door are chanting in arabic. . .
nobel laureate dude:i understand a bit of arabic, i think they're asking the chinese govt to leave the dalai lama alone, jolly good fellows aren't they?
Beaf: Breaking news; Israel is releasing all the detainee's within 48 hours. All the foolish shakara of trying the so called "violent" activists has been dropped.
foolish shakara? isn't shakara supposed to be saying 'i will slap you o. . .' and not slapping the person after that. . .?
my thoughts on the UN are expressed in the bolded portion of the quote below
ABUJA—FORMER Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Michael Aondoakaa, SAN, weekend, described the controversial zoning arrangement of the Peoples ‘Democratic Party, PDP, as a distraction and unconstitutional.
Aondoakaa, who returned to the country from Rome on a United Nations’ assignment
is it not the same UN that condemned the raid on iraq? now that the news is out that they were lied to about the WMDs what are they saying?
oh Lord, y'all just had to goad david into whipping out the facts. . .SMH, david i'm begging you, forget the palestine-israel-jew thingy and lets continue discussing the present issue. . .lol
in the end, the international community will make all the right noises and shutup, all na posturing, everyone knew what the 'peace activists' wanted.
IMO one word sums up all the nobel laureates, rich businessmen and writers that were on that ship: idiots!
they allowed themselves to be used as pawns in matters that transcend 'distribution of rice' and they'll have to suffer it. . .
you know part of what trips me about this? the activists said they are going to try again with 2 more ships and the israelis said they'd do the same thing, mennnn i need to find out the name of the official taking these decisions, i'mma put him on my role model list, right next to hugo chavez
and i wonder how the guy expects a fresh grad to know the act
AjanleKoko: ^^ trust Naija to come up with the bizarre stuff.
it's a company here in abj, they design and build transmission stations o, run by mostly northerners(that part gives me pause) the guys seemed friendly enough, someone i know in PHCN linked me up with them(i suspect he's on the board or something, you can never trust all these civil servants, esp PHCN senior mgmt. their way is just not pure), my answer was 'no i dont, but i can learn'
This thread is indeed truly funny not with the hilarious posts by Nairalanders,
Anyway, let me share with you my personal experience.
Left for the States and came back about 4 years later.
Spent 3 months so far and I must say it's been a world of intrigues!
Headhunted and relocated to Naija by 1 of the oil and gas multi-nationals,
My thoughts,
1) If you have money, u will really enjoy this country,
2) Lower your expectations to the barest minimum and make up your mind to succeed. Look at it this way…if you didn't travel out in the first place, u would have remained in this country and succeeded no doubt!
3) Drop every toga of 'I just came back from abroad' and behave like a Nigerian that you are, No disrespect, if foreigners can live and do business here, nothing stops u from living and thriving in your fatherland.
4) Respect everyone u meet and greet them dutifully. That gateman may become your saviour tomorrow, 5) Make sure have a solid offer before heading this way…A lot of nairalanders can actually set u up well with the right contacts in the education field.
Above all, ask God for guidance and be sure u are moving back for the right motive
this post suffers from 'too much sense. . .', couldn't have said it better!
how do you suggest i go about learning autocad? i started sometime back but the tutorials i had were Mech Eng. biased so i quickly lost interest, is autocad that much of an advantage? i tried to use autocad to draw the diagrams for a transformer bay we were planning to install while i was still in shiroro but it was to clumsy(ended up jomo-ing it wiv MSword ) isn't there i way i can get straight to using the electrical part of autocad? or can i use visio in it's place?
mennn i had one interview like this in an electrical firm, er'thing was going fine until the guy asked me if i'd ever heard of the public procurement act o, that's when i started to realise that it's not enough to know V=IR in all the languages of the globe. . .so now i'm downloading the act now o, no more interesting reading for me for a while
