@jaybee yep, used to watch them when i was younger. so while you were in your second year y'all were able to build something that woulda competed in robot wars? do you have any material on what you guys did? i know i can google stuff up but i have so much to read now and i'm not sure i'm ready to start sifting though different websites where's oyb? does he still visit this thread sef. . . |
Kobojunkie:really? there was a time when government was open?. . .sounds hard to believe. |
^^the part i highlighted is the answer to your question. fame12k:you can go to lag to make enquiries, i dont want to give you half baked information. |
4llerbuntu:i feel you 100%. . .wait sef, is 4llerbuntu your first username on NL? |
@wallie and Ajanlekoko you guys should not sideline us o. . .this one that you are going into plenary. . . @jaybee what was it supposed to do? did it work? i'm really serious about this thing o. . .i just need something realistic that the students can achieve |
franctony: netotse:no be only you sabi use bold font o ![]() |
jarkbauer:you're supposed to insert the link to the picture in between the '' if the picture is online, if the picture is offline you can either attach it to the thread or upload it to a site like photobucket or whatever and then do the https://www.christianshirts.net/images/specialedition/gotjesus350.gif i simply pasted this link http://www.christianshirts.net/images/specialedition/gotjesus350.gif inbetween the [img][/img] and voila it displayed the picture, so all you need to do is find a link to the picture you want. . .c'est fini |
@Ajanlekoko lol. . .your own reply got tagged as spam too *aside* since when did i become OC spambot monitoring sef? Wild idea, huh? But think about this. What if all the electrical engineers in Nairaland came together and formed a co-op? Actually contribute funds towards the production of , say, local electrical low-power-consumption appliances like bulbs. Hire local engineers, use local raw materials, etc.i agree with this your idea o, immediately i saw it in wallie's post, i started discussing with one of my friends on how we could fund something on a drastically smaller scale at our alma matter, something along the lines of a 100grand prize for most innovative microcontroller design. . .i think that's what we need in nigeria, if our government refuses to celebrate us then we might as well celebrate ourselves! |
they used to, but it didn't pass the last NUC accreditation, saw it among list of courses denied accreditation that was published in the newspapers. |
@funkybaby frog-kissing e ma ga o. . .(dont know if my yoruba is on-point. . .lol) |
@Ajanlekoko wallie just posted something on this thread that was tagged as spam, maybe you could get that sorted out? also if he got banned for that. . . @ziyaun (or anyone else) i just got my hands on a load demand interim report, it has a quite a bit of info on the nigerian power sector, are you interested? |
for ppl that still want links http://downloads.mediamobiles.org/tv-series/24/24-S08E23.avi http://downloads.mediamobiles.org/tv-series/24/24-S08E24.avi they(the producers)had better work hard on that movie o. . .nonse and ingredients! make i no lie sha, i happy small say jack no die , but wait sef, what's the point, he wont be able to see his family again now. . . |
*long hiss * nonsense and ingredients. . .i hate the end jo. . .i wanted presidents logan at taylor to suffer incalculably for all their actions, what happened now doesn't cut it! |
FL Gators:i dont think you'll ever be able to stamp it out totally. . .it might just be a phase,we all go through it, but if you've been raised well you'll eventually pul through |
selingel:i'm hardly in a position to be sure now. . .that's why i used 'seems', do you know any better person? |
Dis Guy:it isn't PHCN that overloads the transformers is it? the amount of money PHCN collects as electricity bills every month isn't even enough for it to run itself. . .if any blame is to be shared PHCN wont even get lions share! hypothetical question: you've just built a house and you want to connect it to the grid, you go to PHCN and tell them, and they tell you 'i'm sorry sir/madam we cant connect you to supply because we dont have the capacity' what would you do? tens of thousands of consumers are connected to an already stressed grid every year without any commensurate increase in generation (and this has been going on for years, imagine the backlog). . .and yet y'all are expecting constant electricity. . .i laugh in spanish. . .lol if anything the politicians should take the lions share of the blames, followed by PHCN staff and lastly all nigerians. |
i'm back. . .what can i say. . .i'm a sucker for punishment ![]() just a word though, as a civil servant(that's what lecturers in federal universities are), it's illegal for you to be involved in any activity other that farming in addition to your job(i think it's even in the constitution. . .lol). CAVEAT: 9.9 out of 10 civil servants flout this rule though however if there's ever any reason for your bosses to put you in trouble, they will snitch, but since almost er'one is doing it, it rarely happens sha(i know one lecturer it happened to though, he was teaching in another uni part-time) just thought you should know. . . and BTW there could be a measure of hostility from other lecturers, the fed govt is in the process of enacting a rule(abi is it a law) that makes a PhD compulsory for all lecturers, so people that have spent donkey years working on their PhDs might not like you(my former course adviser spent 12+). |
chaircover:it could be that your transformer is overloaded and y'all need to get a bigger transformer. . .the best thing to do would be to get real engineers involved not technicians. the alternative could be the lines are overloaded, and if that's the case you guys'll be on a longer thing, but i'd put my money on transformer. . .if a transformer 'blows', replacing it should come only after finding out why it happened in the first place, but folks at PHCN are usu too lazy. |
could you tell me exactly what he said? thing is, you need to know exactly what the problem is before you start complaining, for you that could make the difference between being ignored and actually getting somebody to listen to your case. . . when you can state what exactly is wrong, the next logical step would be for your resident's association to seek a meeting with the CEO of the distribution company, knock on doors until you find someone that's willing to talk to you. . . most importantly though, be polite!, more often than not, when pple talk to PHCN staff, they do so with 'attitude' and that could make the difference between the person deciding to help you or telling you 'i dont know, it's not my business' |
SEFAGO:if he's an engineer that's the question to ask, it's the same thing as asking what's your specialisation, or how many lecturers do you think simply teach?. . .of which i admitted i was at fault now. . .the idea of him rushing to brand me S.I. unit of thread derailment is what i dont like. . . |
Devonian:guess what ppl? today is let-hotshot-doctorate-wielding-fella-stylishly-insult-me-and-get-away-with-it-day ![]() it was evident in your first post? you mentioned teaching in a university, i kinda meant what subject area(to think i was trying to avoid posting off-tangent), i should've been clearer mea culpa. . .if you're an electrical engineer with a PhD university of lagos will employ you easily, that's the sorta thing that was going through my mind, was also planning to help search for lecturers salaries but i guess i have better things to do(what with me being NLs chief thread-derailer and all ) |
i don tire for all them tribalists, i swear i'm extremely close to starting a 'ban the tribalist thread'. . . |
Spyker:that's why i said 'kind of girl', while it could mean i want her, it could also mean i want someone similar, someone who knows what she wants and sets out to achieve it. . . |
have you gone to the PHCN district office to ask why?. . . |
that's the kind of girl i need in my life jo. . . |
what if the poster was 'the seeker'? and he was trying to learn how to change his IP so he wouldn't be caught the same way he was caught last time? i dont know how you can tell the OP is on the 'up n up' from a single statement. . . i made room for the poster being legit, that's why i asked for a reason, if i thought or knew OP was up to something fishy, i wouldn't have bothered myself. like i stated earlier, the information he asked for isn't particularly special, however, if i'm going to teach someone to do something that could be used for illegal purposes, dont you think I have a right to seek assurance of some sort that it wouldnt be used wrongly? |
hey pple! i had reason to watch episode 1 again o, meeennnn it's hard to believe the present wahala is happening on the same day as his aborted trip to cali o. . .that's the thing with 24, the twists and turns get so many that it's very easy to lose sight of the begining! at least for his granddaughters sake they shouldn't kill jack o! |
yay. . .this thread will soon get to 100pages and get locked and will stop showing up on my updated topics list. . . |
snowdrops:would you let me use your address as my contact address? or if you knew i was using a fake address would you want to relate/do business with me? it's not a matter of being cynic, what if someone teaches you how to change your IP and you now use it to scam someone nko?. . .knowledge is a burden, it's that simple. . .i cant think of many sensible reasons why anyone would want to change his/her IP address |
selingel:fashola seems to be the closest to that. . .at this present time. . . |
