PoliticsRe: Salary Of Police Service Personnel (foreign) by netotse(m): 12:31am On Jul 31, 2010
RICHIE BOI:
From a previous salary of about N10,000, a police constable now earns between N22,000 and N27,000 depending on his length of service and accommodation plan, while a sergeant’s pay has gone up from N15,000 to about N30,000. And from a pay slip of about N22,000, a Police inspector now earns at least N50,000 monthly.

The new salary structure is part of the 13-point welfare programme the IGP promised officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force recently. Other noteworthy aspects of the programme include provision of decent housing, payment of the backlog of outstanding police contributions to the National Housing Fund, clearance of outstanding promotions, allowing deceased police officers’ families to remain in the barracks for at least six months, and giving more attention to manpower training and development.

Before now, the usual mantra by the Police authorities was that the officers and men were demoralised, poorly kitted and lacked the wherewithal to fight crime. It was argued that the Police welfare package, including allowances, had remained poor over the years, made worse by inflation. The result was that the Police Force acquired the reputation of the most corrupt public agency in the country
how many years experience does a police inspector have? are you kidding, 50grand to chase armed robbers and politicians?

@ topic

Are you kidding me?

What about guys that have tried to tie me down by proposing a baby together? tongue
ehen? it's not as if they are piercing a condom, a proposal involves choice doesn't it? and so you chose not to get pregnant.

@sophy
if she doesn't want an abortion it's her prerogative. . .the guy has to shoulder some blame, tell him to man up and deal with it, no matter how angry he gets, the girl is already pregnant. . .enough with the whining about abortions jo. . .this is what happens when children start having sex without fully understanding the possible consequences!

Why?
he's not doubting that the child is his . . .it's the responsible thing to do, however, since the pregnancy wasn't planned and he seems to believe the girl was complicit in the whole thing, who wants to stay with a dishonest person?. . .

What proves her one?
do you agree with what she did?(if she did it) if he cant prove she got preggers on purpose, that still isn't enough reason for him not to dump her. . .abi is it by force to marry? homie has doubts, if he stays with her they'll always be there

stuff like this pisses me of jo. . .that's how she will want to play the 'victim' in this case, as if she didn't know she could get preggers too, if you ask me, they're both idiots he more than she, but i still think he should kick her to the curb. . .if you cant trust a girl you have no biz being with her, it's that simple!
FamilyRe: Why Do Some Ladies Engage In This Practice? by netotse(m): 10:38pm On Jul 28, 2010
i get the whole 'sebi it was the two of them involved' bit, but what i dont get is why people are refusing to admit that there are females that would stoop so low as to get preggers just to snag the guy. . .

@sophy
he should accept the child but kick the girl to the curb. . .no one needs a tramp in his life, if he sticks with her the next phase of the drama is her sleeping with his boss, or one of his friends just cos he(your friend) did something wrong.

^^^ whats the process like

what are the bid securities ( as in what it entails)

do you know your account officer in the bank?

whats your (org) relationship with the bank?

i can understand if the first tender with the bid securities go late, but the subsequent ones shouldnt

im assuming their is a process already and all your in house and the GTB guy should ordinarily do is just walk the damn process

can you throw more light and lemme see what i can advise
well the bid securities are kinda like shackles, as in if you withdraw your bid before the winner is chosen you lose your bid security, the losers have theirs returned to them after the winner is picked, the winner susbstitutes his bid security with a performance guarantee after he signs the contract,(if this isn't explanatory enough, i could copy the paragraph dealing with this from the contract(?) )

what happens is after we're done with the bill of quantities, we apply for the bid security(1% or 2% of total bid price) from the bank

the guy is our account officer(actually i think we have two, but he's the one that deals with the security, the other one just comes with him when they come to see our boss) his designation is relationship manager(or something equally inane)

we have a facility(or facilities) in NGN and USD as well, advance payment guarantees, performance bonds and stuff

99.9% of the equipment is manufactured outside the country so we have a bank with them in the UK as well as naija(the financial magic is too convoluted for me to understand, i know CBN opens an LC or something and then they're supposed to open a back LC or something, but this is after you win the contract sha, )

i dont know what the process at the bank is, the guy doesn't seem very bright, kinda like the type of guy that has to beg the secretary to type his letters for him,
BTW, the bank's GTB

the thing is frustrating cos on the day of submission person go come dey call am as if say na for marriage or something. . .and it's not as if they're dashing you money o(sebi it's from your acct balance they'll deduct the money if ish happens?)

(they're the ones we do the most biz with, but for the last set of contracts we bidded for we had to get bid securities from 3 different banks)

i need your help with something. . .
we usu have to include bid securities with the tenders and the guy(our account officer. . .i think) is always late, and when i say late i mean we always get the bid security after the deadline. . . my boss was forming he would close the account but all na lie cos that's the account that he pays awon equipment manufacturers with. . .i'm tired of our having to influence everything isn't there a way of getting the bid security in time?what could cause delays in getting the bid securites?(even when he had a week he was still late) can changing account officers solve the problem? the bank is GTB and bid securities are usu 1 or 2% of the total price(which of course depends on the job you're bidding for. . .)
the oil trading thingy sounds like petty trading. . .lol

i just asked and oil trading is the same thing as cocoa trading and all the others, person i asked said he knows of companies in london, new york et al that are into oil trading but he doesn't know of any in nigeria. . .if you drop the company name i could ask him if he knows anything about them

hey pple,

it's like ignoring all the crap he was saying that night was the smart thing to do, cos he's now careful when it comes to me. . .we're done with the tenders for 330 and 132kV(had to spend the night at work the day before the deadline though). . .

we've submitted another 33kV tender since then and we were still late, i'm starting to wonder if we can ever submit any of these things on time. . .meennnn the power sector looks completely different on the outside o, i used to feel like a 'local champion' in my PHCN days but now i'm regularly humbled by things i see/hear grin

hey people. . .

i need y'alls help. . .how do you deal with ungrateful bosses?

closing time's 5pm, but ever since he remarked that i seem to be very diligent in keeping to closing time, i scaled back to 6ish. . .but a lot of times it's as if he purposely waits till it's late 6-30-7 to give me something to do or to explain something to me(i know it's not true he's forgetful and likes to leave stuff till the last moment), i dont complain cos i'm learning and truthfully i'm being exposed to stuff very few people would be exposed to. . .

we're doing some collabos grin now and they're very demanding and since i'm comfy with computers i was drafted to work with him(MD), this is how the story goes we get back from a meeting at 6:30 and go over the stuff we discussed till it's like 7.50, i say i have to go and pick my cousin from court(he's dong court attachment, he'd been waiting since 6) and he does the whole 'cant he understand your situation' and i do the whole 'he's from out of town' and then he goes 'next time i wont tolerate this from you'. . .and in my mind i go WTF! are you paying me for all the overtime? heck what do you even pay me sef? but of course i shut up and play mute, i acted as if i didn't hear any of the shit he was whining about and carried my kaya and left. . .i was pissed!. . .i kept praying that one of those yeye abuja drivers would give me a reason to abuse them but alas, fate had decided i was to be denied my catharsis.

i need to know how to handle things in such a way that i dont get the shorter end of the stick. . .i think i appear a little too eager to learn and he's mistaking that for naivete. . .
