i believe we should give respect to whom respect is due. . .

i like this interview, it has left me with a large measure of respect for ojukwu. . .i dont, agree the whole biafra thingy but from this interview, i have come to see him in a different light.

Kudos to his wife as well, she does him credit in this interview, how many so called 'big-men' can boast of having wives that will be able to acquit themselves as gracefully as she does in this interview. . .

the tribalists should take a chill pill jo. . .truth be told there's nothing in the interview that is worth fighting over. . .anyone coming to make noise on this thread is showing his level of reasoning!

EducationRe: Carry-Over Courses: Student Commits Suicide by netotse(m): 11:00pm On Apr 09, 2010
semid4lyfe:
AAU student commits suicide over carry-over courses
By Friday Olokor, Benin, Published: Friday, 9 Apr 2010

Confusion reigned at Etinosasere Street, Ugbiyoko quarters in the Edo State capital, Benin, on Thursday after a final year student of Accounting at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Mr. Benjamin Oghayerio, was found hanging in his room.

He had reportedly committed suicide over alleged carry-over courses. Although details of the suicide were still sketchy at press-time, it was learnt that residents of House 17 on the street woke up in the morning to discover Benjamin’s lifeless body dangling from the burglar-proof bars in his room. The incident threw the neighbourhood into mourning.

The dead student’s elder sister, Mrs. Rosaline Ogbemudia, said that Benjamin had packed his luggage preparatory to returning to school. Ogbemudia said the last time she saw him was around 3am on Thursday when she left him in the living room, where he slept because of heat in his room resulting from power outage.

Ogbemudia said that at dawn, she asked her daughter to tell Benjamin that it was time to wash the family car.

She said, “I asked them to inform him that it was already five minutes to seven; that he should come and wash the car so that I could drop him off and face the business I had for the day. The next thing I heard was a scream from the little girl that I should come and see foam in Benjamin’s mouth.”

The cause of death was not immediately known but a suicide note left behind by Benjamin indicated that frustration at having carry-overs in school, family crisis and his membership of a secret cult led him to take his life.

I'm a 300l eee undagrad, i enjoy electronics and loves programming. Between COMMUNICATION and ELECTRONICS/COMPUTER Which option is better in terms of employment opportunities.
both are good, and somewhat interrelated, cos a lot of ppl in the comm. sector have I.T. certifications and what not, although i think Ajanlekoko would be the best person to help with your question since he has experience in both aspects. . .

you seem pretty focused o, in yr3 i still wasn't sure what part of EE i was interested in. . .best of luck!

Beauty: The Quest to attain the unattainable

i want us to discuss the issue of self esteem and self worth among young girls. this issue is very dear to me because i see everyday the detrimental effects of the "lost of self" in young girls. many Young girls today have place their worth/esteem on their "physical appearance". "if only i could look like this, i wish i had her body/face"etc we have been socialized by the media/society, friends/peers etc to appear/look a certain way in order to be socially accepted, loved, wanted, have a sense of belonging and what have you. we no longer value diverse beauty, everyone wants to conform to the "set standard"of "beauty"

i want us to discuss specific ways we can help our girls realize and regain their self worth/esteem in a society where everyone is always on a quest to attain the unattainable.
well for one thing, i think the relationship the girl/girls have with the male figures in their lives are esp important, whether we admit it or not, females(as males too) do a lot of things(consciously or unconsciously) with the aim of attracting males(or females), if a girl has a good relationship with the males in her life, then she wont be susceptible to the sharks out there.

i'm admitting it here, we guys do a lot of terrible stuff, we tend to promise girls stuff(love, comfort, protection etc) just so we can get what we want(most times a roll in the hay), but if a girl knows er'thing she needs is available at home, she's less likely to fall for the games men play

p.s.
i know some of the ideas/concepts dont really apply to young girls, but you'll just have to extrapolate. . .

CareerRe: What Do You Think Of People Who Cheat Their Way Through School by netotse(m): 10:42pm On Apr 08, 2010
@OP
like all other decisions in life, there are pros and cons, it's natural to dislike/hate people that cheat and get better grades, (and it makes things seem better for a while too) but eventually you'll have to realize, it's their life, and the decisions they take are their biz not yours, went through this in uni and it wasn't until after i finished that i came to realize that paying too much attention to the decisions other people take is an excuse for you not to put in your best.

i'm with wallie on this, put in your best and take decisions you'll be proud of in the long-term, if cheating isn't you, then damn the consequences, it never pays to take panadol for another persons headache.

by the way, the reason why you're not cheating is also important, some people wont, not because they think it's wrong or not, but rather because they're proud, i think that's stupid. . .lol

why dont you jump up and down 3 times, spin around, that ought to fix things.

sorry if i seem rude, but it's pretty unreasonable for you to come here and expect to get help without giving us information to work with.

what are your computer specs? HDD, RAM, Processor, OS etc

what where you doing when the problem occurred, are there any error messages that sorta thing.

there are tons of ppl that'd be willing to help you but you need to give us info to work with man. . .safe!

Eziachi:
Pure ignorant, it shows how little some of you knew Nigerian corrupt system. Power portfolio happens to be one of the most lucrative in terms of looting money. If you don't know, ask why northerner always had it and why you have perenial power shortage, if not because billions designated for power always end in private pocket. if you don't know ask past ministers of power.
my point was that if he(as the acting president)wanted to steal money, the power sector is not the best place to do that, heck he can allocate himself an oil block sef, i prolly should have said profit, that's what was going through my mind, money is being lost in the power sector everyday(that doesn't stop the thieves).

P.S. you dont have to tell me about the corruption in the power sector, i've lived it!

yeah, just like obj did wonders as oil minister
difference is, with oil, there's a net inflow of funds, dude doesn't have anything to gain by keeping the portfolio to himself, his not appointing a minister means he was unable to find one that he trusted. . .SMH
