@Ajanlekoko
the guy's engineering is very sound, its his moral degree thats from oluwole. we have a number of very good ppl here(enough to do the work that needs to be done) but the dead weight outnumbers them and that slows business down considerably.

if the generation was there you guys would get it. . .for real o, i know ppl the go on leave during the load shedding periods just so they dont have to be the one to tell the discos<distribution coys-the ppl that control your light> to drop load(there's always this sadness in the control room during the serious load shedding periods especially at night).

on the lighter side sha its the only period when we can touch the feeder belong to the senators in apo quarters(do we make them suffer. . .lol) i rem during my I.T. one of the first things i used to ask when i resumed in the morning was "are those nuisances still in"(i.e. do they have light) if they were it was lights off till some1 from headquarters called to ask how far.

thing about operators(the ppl that decide who actually gets light) is that they are usu stressed at these periods(we once got a call from someone that said she was 'hajia' and she worked with yar adua<---ppl aren't even s'posed to have our operational numbers sef) or once we got a call from war college that "we should know its a sensitive institution"(there was a match on that night) we soooo didnt give them light(that night was especially bad the whole abuja was practically in darkness) during normal times(i speak wrt the neps) dem no born us well to try that(soldiers will just come and arrange you!)

simple and short there's a heirachy when it comes to who gets the meagre offerings that come from the generation stations(yeah yeah i know thats not the way its supposed to be). Large hospitals, important govt agencies, military formations and lastly operators(see def. above) etc usu get priority, i'll try and expantiate on this later sha(i can only talk from a transmission point of view, i need to get more info)

P.S. its not everyone in PHCN u can bribe to get light. when you're talking about ppl that collect bribes to give you light or not to disconnect your light thats distribution. transmission ppl have no idea/business with whats happening on your streets(we work on a far far larger scale) and generation ppl have no business with wots happening anywhere outside their power station.

Hey Diggler, 'sup? Hope u r floating well with this financial meltdown thingy?
I knw the financial institutions wld be crazy these days. Keep ur head up ok?

Netotse, u r welcome on board. You haven't said anything new with regards to the power sector being understaffed. We all know huge amounts of money go in an abyssmal amounts of power comes out. That only points in one direction: The usual direction, CORRUPTION.
Hope u youngies would be allowed to pum in fresh blood into that place someday.

It is well jare. IT is still at the very top of things and is bound to stay right up for a long long time. All the best with ur new business and please try not to compromise good quality. It might be tough blending quality and good income but if u persist and have all the right ingredients in place, u r on the narrow path too success. All the best bro

TKB dearie
It's been a while, hw's work and all? I'll give u a call to find out sha.

@TOPIC
Work has been fine, gradually getting the hang of things and it's not as horrible as I thought it would be.
Be back with better gist later.

*if there are any grammatical errors in this post, pls bear wiv me, I typed in a rush. Peace y'all*
who said anything about understaffing?. . .its maadddd overstaffed o. . .my overall oga has 3 secretaries when he needs only 1, of which he just asked for 2 new secretarial corps members(i h8 trying to be grammatically correct) when the 2 on ground are playing half the time(he's just looking for skirts to get into since the two here dulled him. . .once more, dont say i said so!), the technical staff nko? they are plenty but the ones with the right degrees and/or training aren't.

office today
woke up to no light shocked(here its an abomination cool) somehow it got restored b4 i got to the switchyard sha, as usual no one's doing anything, (ok, i take that back we're all complaining about our not having received salary for last month) spent most of today teaching one of the managers about networking tho. . .heads up y'all another strike might be in the works!
i'm not going to lie. i don't see anything wrong with the act of prostrating. the only thing i don't agree with is the purpose  undecided yea u might say western style is glorified but if left to make my own choice i'd rather take the western style than the naija or chinese style. not that respecting adults is not bad but we take things too far our culture is sooo anti-youth and elders are elevated to god-like levels. imagine ur not even allowed to look an adult in the eye in some cultures. and then we say we have a hard time producing leaders.
still i don't find anything wrong with prostrating or kneeling or whatever but all these excessive reverence for adults can be sickening. i kno i don't want youngins prostrating or kneeling or bowing down to me when i'm old. respect is good but i dun like all that excess.
if wot u're trying to say is that since to them the definition of respect is to prostrate then u'll prostrate but to u respect means something diff then i agree wiv u!

@ajanlekoko
we'll you're off the mark there. . . the main reason is in the picture i posted below. . .(had to read through my archives to get that undecided) it represents funding of the power sector, notice the military regime?

on the other hand PHCN is overstaffed(dont say i said so grin) and underskilled so even when the needed stations are built it wont be smooth sailing!

P.S. in power u shld start building a power station at least 5 years before you need it! now y'all can just do the maths.(i'll help you, u're 20years behind)

now on to my office,
the internet has vanished(i know its grammatically incorrect grin) the comms guy just says the hub is bad(i can bet 6months allawee i know more abt networking than him).he has an OND in mech production, how he got here i dont know, i like him tho. The HR manager's secretary has spent all of today playing text twist(i installed it on her computer grin) the engineers are 'laying' at 'oputa panel'*. In simple english little or no work is being done.(today is my CD<community development> day i dont even need to be at the office)

*oputa panel is the proverbial waterhole where u meet to discuss the days activities only in this case most of the day is actually spent there (different generating stations hv different names for it though, i hear the one in jebba is called 'house of assembly')

oh and i hear they aren't going to pay us our PHCN allawee until the 15th of next month(it was due on the 24th)

Yea, I stopped blow drying my hair too.

Well, I love cantu, its moisturizes hair and their product smells sooooooooooo goooood.

After applying those products you use to your hair, wrap your hair with plastic wrapper (the one you use for iyan or amala). After drying,your hair will still be moist and contained.

But your hair is so nice like that.
i see. . . shocked
