Politics › Re: Presidency Reaches Out To Amaechi, Nyako, Others by Newcrescent(m): 3:50pm On Nov 28, 2013 |
chimchim1: Despite the hard line posture of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Presidency has opted to reach out to the aggrieved governors and leaders of the New PDP to give room for the completion of peace talks with President Goodluck Jonathan. The aggrieved governors- Rotimi Amaechi, Murtala Nyako, Abdulfatah Ahmed, Aliyu Wammako and Rabiu Kwankwaso- defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday. According to sources, who pleaded not to be named, a security chief has since Tuesday been reaching out to the aggrieved G-7 governors to honour the President on Sunday by attending the resumption of peace talks. It was learnt that the security chief made the governors to realise that the ill-health of the President accounted for the shift of the meeting. It was gathered that the security top brass said even if the governors had taken their decision, it is proper to allow the conclusion of talks with the President. A source, who spoke in confidence, said the intervention of the security chief was as a result of the likely implications of an all-out-battle between the President and the governors. The source said: “The top security brass has been begging the governors to return to the negotiation table because of likely degeneration of the political situation in the country. “His fear is that the implosion in PDP may ground governance to a halt, in view of the attitude of some hawks in the ruling party that the President should adopt a tit-for-tat measure against perceived political adversaries. “The consequence of the crisis on the 2014 Budget became obvious following the probability of APC controlling the majority in the National Assembly, especially the House of Representatives. “So, there is pressure on the governors to have a rethink. The security chief has contacted some key Northern leaders and traditional rulers to intercede.” As at press time however it was learnt that the aggrieved governors, with the exception of Governors Sule Lamido and Babangida Aliyu, were yet to make any commitment to have meeting with the President on Sunday. Another source said: “Mr. Rotimi Amaechi told those making the overtures as follows: ‘I won’t attend any meeting on Sunday since I am no longer in their midst.’ “The governors are skeptical about the sincerity of the President to the resumption of peace talks. He is using the session to gauge the feeling of the governors and determine when to strike against them. “The governors and New PDP leaders have merged with APC; it is presumed that the reconciliation process is dead.” http://thenationonlineng.net/new/presidency-reaches-amaechi-nyako-others/ I guess the Security Chief is no other than IGP or even the CSA. |

DTaj: Aabheaven, bro/sis, you appear naive. Do you expect to have a party of saints only Not even in the most pristine countries do you have politicians in a party who are all saints and above board!
Does it matter that politicians who once castigated one another are in the same party? Ikimi was a strong critic of Abiola and was NRC's National officer during June 12 while everyone knew Tinubu was completely pro-MKO Abiola, he was also the returning officer who delivered Obasanjo during THAT PDP Presidential primaries with the popular refrain: 'Obasanjo, Obasanjo, Obasanjo' 1 million times before Ekwueme 10 times! Where is he now? He's in bed with the same Tinubu as APC's Deputy National Chairman!
Wammako was an ANPP stalwart way back and was very powerful, didn't he decamp to PDP and started insulting the same ANPP? Saraki only decamped to PDP from the old APP, brought his son as Governor and started insulting the same APP (ANPP).
Atiku started with PDP, was AC Presidential candidate, and returned to PDP.
A number of polticians who helped Aregbesola win his court case in Osun were PDP members who decamped to ACN after he won the case against Oyinlola. Opeyemi Bamidele, Tinubu's boy in House of Reps is the de facto leader of Labour Party in Ekiti today and he's fighting the sitting APC Governor Fayemi so dirty, whereas we all know that Tinubu and Mimiko are political enemies. It is ALL about selfish interest!
Tinubu made Senator Obanikoro politically, first as Local Govt Chairman, and later as Commissioner, and much later as Senator (under AD). Are they friends today?
Senator Ogunlewe was elected as an AD Senator; didn't he decamp to PDP and fought Tinubu like a rabied dog!
Enoch Ajiboso was a staunch PDP man, didn't he decamp to join AC as Commisisoner for Agriculture?
Dr. Wale Ahmed, who owns a hospital in Agege used to be a thorn in the flesh of ACN as Lagos PDP Publicity Secretary before 2011 election. He was like Lai Mohammed of today! Didn't he decamp just before the election from PDP to the same ACN he used to insult and got compensated as a current Commissioner under Fashola? His godfather, Demola Seriki, who nominated him was a Minister under PDP just a few years ago, where is he now? APC!
Orji Uzor Kalu formed PPA and got Governor Theodore Orji of Abia elected while he (Orji) was in prison. Where is that party called PPA today The list is endless: Fayose was in PDP, Labour, AC (ACN), APGA, now back in PDP. Oyinlola, who hated Tinubu like dirt was at the nPDP meeting Tinubu's group held in Sokoto recently!
But you have corrected yourself with your last statement: "Someone once said and I quote "the only thing that unite politicians in Nigeria is CORRUPTION.God help our nation".
This is the raeson I always marvel at (and pity) all those jobless clowns on Nairaland who continue to insult one another and rake ethnic and religious bile at one another while ALL polticians are plotting how to access power for (largely) their own selfish reasons...
Let's face facts: don't you see that in most corruption scandals one easily finds Muslims, Christians, and pagans; Yoruba-Hausa-Igbo-Tiv-Kanuri-Igala-Ijaw-Urhobo-Idoma-Itsekiri steal together? When their interests are affected, they cry ethinicity, religion, tribe, etc.
Nigerian people are so gullible! The earlier we realize that no (I repeat NO) single political party will change anything, the better for us all! PDP, APC, Labour, APGA, KOWA, PPP, DPP, UUUUUFFYO, etc are bound by a common desire: steal, steal, and steal!
Cyber warriors, hold your peace! You can die online for politicians if you are a Reno Omokiri who earns his living from throwing dirt and insults, but if you are not and you continue to increase your BP for some politicians, na you sabi o!
End of... Please tell them O. |

Mr. Adekoya forgot to tell his British audience that while it may be true that Nigeria still does not generate enough electricity for its population, the Jonathan administration has nonetheless increased generation from the 2800 MWs it met on ground to the present 4500 MWs Nigeria generates today a 35% improvement. But that is not even the main story. This administration has kept faith with the Roadmap to Power Sector Reforms that the President launched on August 22nd 2010 which in summary charted a course for the privatization of the nation's power sector.
This particular question should be responded to by our amiable Nairalanders. As electricity improved in your area? for me we hardly see the light? Your Jolanther is a complete failure. |
Politics › Re: Nobody Will Leave PDP For Opposition - Tukur by Newcrescent(m): 4:58pm On Apr 18, 2013 |
tomakint: History is beckoning once again in the political temperature of Nigeria, the alliance of the opposition parties to the dominion of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the years is really gathering momentum, the opposition parties (ACN, CPC, ANPP, a faction of APGA among others) came together under the umbrella of All Progressives Alliance (APC) in order to wrest power from the hands of the Peoples Democratic Party at the centre come 2015. To students of political history of Nigeria, this type of development is not new to our polity. Going down memory lane, in the First Republic, the Northern People’s Congress (NPC) led government was in charge at the centre, emasculating every other opposition parties viz; Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s Action Group (AG), Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe’s National Council of Nigerian Council (NCNC), Mallam Aminu Kano’s Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU), Joseph Tarka’s United Middle Belt Congress (UMBC) and others. However, based on the level of maladministration, incompetents in high places of the government of the day (NPC) the other parties decided to go into an alliance to wrest power at the centre from the ruling NPC! The NPC together with the Samuel L. Akintola-led Nigerian National Democratic Party (NNDP) of the Western Region (popularly called ‘demo’) and other ‘political Lilliputians’ came together to form the Nigeria National Alliance (NNA) while the other opposition parties formed the United Progressive Grand Alliance (UPGA). The election date was fixed and as expected, it was bloody. The opposing UPGA needs a victory in the election at the Western Region to control the Senate and while that was gradually playing out, Chief S.L Akintola, (the illegal occupant of the Premier of Western Region) led faction were alleged to have rigged the election to favour the Nigeria National Alliance (NNA) and the resultant effect snowballed into the infamous ‘Operation Wetie of 1965 at Ibadan’ where brothers were burning one another like firewood, of course, the soldiers had no choice other than to ‘step in’, this gave birth to the first military coup! The Second Republic was another case in point. The government of the day headed by the same offshoot of NPA, called National Party of Nigeria (NPN) was so visionless and rudderless that corruption, favouritism, nepotism, tribalism and the likes were at their peaks and to add insult upon injury the Shehu Shagari-led National Party of Nigeria decided to enter into an alliance with Nnamdi Azikiwe’s Nigeria People’s Party (NNP) and Mallam Aminu Kano’s People’s Redemption Party (PRP) to form the Progressive Parties Alliance (PPA)! Yet in the elections that ensued, the NPN and its allies were involved in massive rigging which made gubernatorial results in Ondo State to end up in bloodshed as a result of rigging in favour of Akin Omoboriowo (a candidate of NPN) while the Unity Party of Nigeria candidate, Chief Adekunle Ajasin was “defeated”, eventually the violence in the state forced the court to reconsider the “facts” placed before it on the elections which gave victory to the Unity Party of Nigeria, however the NPN still controls the centre!
Coming down to the 4th Republic {since IBB aborted the 3rd Republic of National Republican Convention (NRC) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) of 1991} it must be observed that the Peoples Democratic Party under a Jonathan government is quite different from the Obasanjo-led government where it has to be a do-and-die affair. In the First and Second Republic, two northerners (Tafawa Balewa and Shagari held sway) and were clearly seen as being one-sided, inept and visionless hence the need for the changes that aborted both Republic. This is not the case in Jonathan’s case, his administration has taken it upon itself to execute as many people-oriented policies as possible and even with two years into his government he has shown some political sagacity as a promising government that will deliver at the end of his first term! No matter how hard the oppositions try to hit the camp of Jonathan with propaganda, it is still crystal clear that he (Ebele Goodluck Jonathan) will still carry the day. By 2015, there is every tendency that Nigerians will yearn for JONATHAN again! The end has justified who the goon is writing for. Jolanta Egbere. |

[quote author=aminho]We see a lot of American rappers drinking a liquid mixture in a white or red cup in their music videos. That substance is known as ‘sizzurp’. Sizzurp is the combination of cough syrup with preferably candy and/or any soft drink. Cough syrup contains codeine and promethazine- the core ingredients in cough syrups.
Unfortunately a lot of impressionable young people have started taking the powerful mixture (sizzurp drinking is a growing fad among young people in Nigeria). Unknown to many, sizzurp is a mixture that can do more harm than good to your body.
YMCMB rapper Lil’ Wayne is currently recuperating at home after a near death experience caused from a large intake of sizzurp. His stomach had to be pumped three times to remove the sizzurp in his body. While it might look glamourous on TV, sizzurp is very harmful and is something that should not be played with. While Lil’ Wayne is lucky to be alive, others haven’t. Southern rap legend love-vendor C was found dead in his hotel room after taking sizzurp. DJ Screw- the originator of the chopped and screwed sound- died from sizzurp complications.
Dangers of Sizzurp 1. Codeine causes itching, vomiting, and constipation. 2. Codeine can cause hypoventilation, a potentially fatal inability to breathe properly. 3. Promethazine can cause potentially deadly central nervous system depression and hypoventilation, extreme weakness and drowsiness, and constipation.
The dangers of drinking sizzurp far outweighs the short-lived euphoria it gives. You only live once (Mramshi!) This guy surely nail it. I don knack u Akpako, gbagaun!!! |
