@Bennyboy11

that story about illiteracy in Ghana was told to us last month but we didn't believe. Tertiary education in Ghana is far more expensive than most Ghanaians can or are willing to afford.

The electricity problem too is true.

You know how Nigerians can sell stories. Even Jerry Springer once asked a woman who claimed to be into constant "electronic" sex how she manages with the power outages. Yet unless the whole power goes out all over the USA, Nigerians will never mention there was power outage anywhere outside Nigeria.

There are about 300 heads of governments all over the world, why couldn't Jerry Rawlings mention any other but Yar'Adua? Why?

Yar'Adua has started speaking up againt the third term agenda in Niger Republic when everyone else is turning a blind eye. Tomorrow, when the new Nigerien president says that it was Yar'Adua that upheld their democracy, we'll say It's a lie.

Even the jews did not accept that Jesus could perform a miracle. They even went ahead to kill him and up till today the jews still maintain that Jesus was a fraud while the rest of the world believes him.

Well, I have nothing more to add. See South Africa that we liberated from slavery when the USA and Britain we helping to sustain apatheid. Today, they kill us and embrace the British.

I knew that there were a lot of Nigerians who supported this execution would gradually come to realise the magnitude of the crime committed by the police and finally come to condemn it.

Even madam who rebranded the execution as commendable police work would have not been so optimistic if her daughter was caught with her Oyibo husband and summarily executed by the JTF on suspicion of kidnapping an expatriate oil worker. Well, I hope then she would be able to visit Al Jazeera and commend the police.

This war will be brought to an end forever.

you mean MEND now has factions? This is terrible news for everybody. So not only can they fight the government and cause havoc to the oil companies, they can also fight amongst themselves.

So if this Victor Ben gets N3 billion and 10,000 units of 3 bedroom flats while Gbomo Jomo gets nothing, what happens?
Politics › Re: Breaking News: Nigerians Rioting In China by nex(m): 12:26pm On Aug 04, 2009
@blacksta

Mattel and a host of other companies did not import substandard goods into Nigeria. They imported it into their home country; the USA.

A couple of years back, the USA embarked on a media campaign to show that almost all the goods imported from China were not just substandard, but dangerous. This was to reduce their citizens' dependency on foreign goods which basically means China goods in the USA. However, it didn't quite work.

Please, it is not just Nigerians that import substandard goods from China, but with the $1/day theory, it makes more business sense to import goods that will fit into our budget, hence 80% of all goods imported from China are substandard. I know most people think 80% is too small, but believe me, there are a lot of Chinese goods in Nigeria whose quality or price cannot be compromised. Sports Equipment, Construction Equipment, Ceramic Ware, Cars, Motorcycles etc.

Well, I believe Nigerians should be proud that this guy died. After all, at home we're celebrating the fact that criminals were executed in detention.

As for this China movement, everybody should go to China O! Where my girls at? I hear that due to the male child preference during the one child policy in China, there is a massive shortage in Chinese women. So grave the shortage is that married women are kidnapped from one province and taken to another to be sold as wives to bachelors. So if dem no want una again for Italy and Spain, China dey wait O!

If we say MEND are not fighting for us, people who know little will open their mouths and shout.

So it is only those who have AK 47s in the NigerDelta that should benefit from the riches of the region?

Where is the demand for resource control? Where is the call for an end to gas flaring? How about roads, schools and other infrastructure? I'm sure they will soon tell government to issue 1 diplomatic passport each to every member of MEND to travel out of the country.

Out of the fullness of the heart, the mouth testifieth.

I know them will review those demands now and add other things when their selfishness has been condemned by all, but the truth is, at the spur of the moment, they revealed their true desires. N3 billion!

Do they even have 10,000 AK47s? So they will order their gun runners to import guns at N50k each and sell them for N300k. My people, I hail una O!

What about us that you have been using and abusing our name all over the world for your freedom terrorism purposes? We can't go any where and boldly say we're Niger Deltans with incurrent thoughts of vandalism, kidnapping, arson, lawlessness, barbarism and theft. And after using us to sell this brand we get nothing? Not even a bush path did they include that the government should construct for us. So we see what the terrorism was all about. All over the world, terrorists want money.

N3 billion cash! Then a three bedroom flat worth an average of N5million each for 10,000 terrorists, thats N50 billion. Altogether, N53 billion. Not one single school? Not one borehole? Not even one of the sites of oil spill cause by MEND vandalism should be cleaned up? Not one rig unflared? Not one of the houses of innocent citizens bombed for MEND's sake to be rebuilt? Not one fish pond constructed for all the unhabitable waters?

Remind me again, what were MEND fighting for? 300 and a 3 bedroom flat each?

Having noticed the luxury with which Akinlabi's apartment was furnished, countrygirl really wanted to ask, but she didn't think it was the right time. She didn't want to get this one off the wrong foot with a third degree so she decided to keep that bottled for now.

Akinlabi's eyes kept roaming all over countrygirl seeking even for the slightest flaw, but eluded him. 'could this be her?' 'is this finally it?'. He mind was still wandering when the question blurted: 'what do you do?' country girl had let it out. No use delaying.

'Do?' Akinlabi muttered.
'Yeah. For a living.'

Akinlabi's smile couldn't hide he'd been caught unawares and unprepared for the question.
'well, I'm in insurance' . No harm in the truth afterall.
'you mean like you work for an insurance firm?'
She asked just to make sure. She'd asked two already. 21 counting down.
Akinlabi adjusted himself, started to go for the wine and answered in a more composed voice 'I'm an insurance broker, I make sure people get paid'.
Then he was back with two glasses of wine, and with that smile, that dimpled cheek smile that gotten her attention the night before,

Somebody is mentioning armed robbers here. Do you know you're within the law if an unarmed man breaks into your house in the NIGHT to attack you and you succeed in killing him? But even when an armed man kills 7 people then runs out of bullets and surrenders to the police, it is unlawful for them to kill him. Their duty is to apprehend him and make sure he appears in court. Nothing more.

What we're talking about here is the law. If the law enforcement agents cannot obey the law, then are you safe?!

@RSA

I'm sure you're not in South Africa. Johannesburg is ranked as the most dangerous city in the world. In fact, I don't think they have finished the last riots they embarked upon.

Just before they started killing foreigners some years ago, you came in here to spread hatred about black South Africans but we rebuked you. So am sure you succeeded in spreading it over there and it worked for you. You and whatever network you're with, whose duty it is to spread hate, killings and destruction all over Africa, I want you to remember that the arm of the law is very long and you will not be shot when caught. You'll be tried in a proper court of law and then hanged.

I will not hate hardworking decent South Africans, but you demon of death, your time is nigh.
Politics › Re: Detained Nigerian Sect Head 'Dead' - Breaking News by nex(m): 7:45pm On Aug 03, 2009
@tosinaded

the police is permitted to kill when under attack that threatens the lives of citizens and theirs. All the about 600 other members were killed while they were armed, dangerous and in the act of wanton destruction of lives and property. If they had surrendered, there should have been no reason to kill them without trial.

The leaders were captured. Why were they captured? Is not for judgement? They shouldn't have been captured if they were meant for instant killing. Anyway, that still goes to show our soldiers are more civilised than the police.

To further show you that the police have no idea of their job, they arrested Mallam Buji Foi and took him to the governor's office. Is it inside the governor's desk that that they want to detain him?

Okay, the man said he wants to see the governor and they took him to the governor's office. Can you see the bunch of imbeciles that you expect to make decisions on who lives and dies?

The police force has always killed people in detention just to get a hard-on. But the difference is that they've always done it secretly and denied. Now they have done it with no remorse and they are getting showers of praise. Tomorrow, E FIT BE YOU O!

Now you all have seen the man alive then dead. How many of you can testify that this man really is the man born and raised as Yusuf Muhammed?

On the issue of them gunning people down, did you see the list of "sophisticated" weapons that were recovered from Boko Haram:
1 AK47 assault rifle, 1 single barreled gun, 3 locally made single barrel guns, 2 locally made revolver pistols, 33 assorted knives, 4 jack knives, 1 sword, 3 cutlasses, 8 catapults, three bows, 66 arrows, 2 motorcycles, 3 sewing machines, 11 bottles, some quantity of foodstuff.

The amount of weapons in total is by far less than the total number of people killed. Does that tell you that of about 600 people killed by the police so far, 540 of them were unarmed? Well permissible, in the line of fire.

Not captives!
Politics › Re: Boko Haram Suspected Financier Executed - Which Way Nigeria by nex(m): 6:08pm On Aug 03, 2009
@IG

whether the Maiduguri people are satisfied with his execution or not, the residents of Maiduguri did not write the constitution of this country and so the fact that they are happy with the lawlessness of the law enforcement agents does not have any consideration in this matter.

I'm so concerned about this not because I love this Yusuf man. I DON'T EVEN KNOW HIM!
I'm not saying the man's life should be preserved at all cost even in a while carrying out the act of terrorism. THE MAN SURRENDERED HIMSELF.

My fear is that if we support this today and the police find out that they can do this in broad daylight and get away with it, nobody knows how many innocent Nigerians they'll kill under the roar of our cheers. We should tackle this now so that it won't become a culture of slaughtering unarmed suspects in broad daylight.

We know that several INNOCENT Nigerians are killed at night by these policemen and they have been denying it, but this is done in our full glare and they are not denying it. If we overlook this now, you have no idea the floodgate of extra-judicial killings we would have opened. Our aim here is not to condemn the police to the point that they have to go resurrect the dead body. The man is dead. That alone should let you know that we're only doing this to protect our future.

However, if you all trust in the sincerity and the omniscience of the police in all criminal and legal matters and are certain that they are perfect in judgement to the extent never wrongly punishing the innocent,we should then call a referendum for the Judiciary to be disbanded and the third arm of government will be the Police.

That is my final word on this matter.

@Kobojunkie

you're now saying that the potential mystery behind the agreement is what really is bad? They have told you the content of the contract:

N107 million, Schools, China, Nigeria, Aid, 4, Ogun, Kaduna, Katsina, FCT.

What else do you want them to mention? Your assumptions? They can't read your mind.

@Lookmangiw

It is the Chinese government with the help of the various aid agencies they have on ground that decide where to build the schools not Yar'Adua. We know that the Chinese have been doing a lot of agricultural aid in Ogun state, now they want to add a school. They've had a large presence in Katsina too, FCT is the capital. They know why Kaduna. But Yar'Adua had nothing to do with their location.

When they came with agricultural aid, they concentrated their efforts in Kwara, Edo, Ogun and Katsina, establishing poultries and fish ponds and training farmers, and nobody complained.

we are on the same side, but you are beginning to debunk our own argument.

If you say the courts are corrupt and useless, then you're saying it makes no difference taking Yusuf to them.

And it is not against International Law to walk even into heaven to arrest anyone who is suspected of committing a heinous crime.
