I don't get the point of this thread.

So many anti-igbo bigots like the op have never failed to remind Igbos that we do not belong in Nigerian politics. Some Igbos have accepted this and encouraged themselves with the fact that, regardless of who is ruling the country, we will be fine and successful.

Why are you so mad at the notion that Igbos are doing well? What kind of envy is that?

I don't think the analogy you've used is accurate. A more apt one would be the Korean and Japanese writing systems. They are in many ways similar but also different too. You cannot use the Efik form of Nsibidi/Nsibiri to formulate Igbo words (as you can with Latin letters and Yoruba). There are completely different symbols (letters) in each that do not exist in the other.

If you were to say that Igbo Nsibidi/Nsibiri was derived from the Efik one then I think your argument would make more sense. It may or may not be true but it would make more sense.

Igbo Nsibidi/Nsibiri is one of it's own and only for the Igbo language.

Do you dispute this?

I only know one albino family and they're Yoruba. I don't care about whatever argument you're trying to make (there's nothing wrong with albino people and people like you with your prejudices make their lives 100 times harder) but the high number of fair skinned people in the Igbo ethnic group can only be attributed to genetic mutation. This was as a result of our environment and diet.

Albinism is different to light skin. The albino Yoruba family I mentioned above had two dark skinned parents and two albino children.

Countless innocent people you murdered for just going to Work on Monday of all days

It was one thing for you to dedicate an entire Osu Caste for hating

It is another thing entirely to dedicate Monday as you day of hate

That's nice. First, it's "Igbos are tribalists" then, when it doesn't suit your narrative, it's "Igbos hate themselves".

It's getting boring now but what will never be boring is the fact that you (and those like you) depend on the Igbo for your very existence.

I truly feel sorry for you. It must be such a conundrum to be so dependent on those you hate. Sorry undecided

Now we know high rates of albinism to be associated with incest

Why are you so jealous of our fair skin? The reason why we have so many fair people is because of our environment and diet.

Igbo land was heavily forested so a lot of our people were protected from the sun. Our diet is vegetable-based and doesn't contain too much oil. (Eating too much oil can darken your skin and green, leafy vegetables contain a lot of vitamins, including vitamin C, which can make your skin look bright and radiant.)

Even want to dress like us, we dominate you in virtually everything and all spheres of life. Stop beating chest and ask yourself, where do your people live? Who is running from east to south? Who rules you? We have had a Yoruba president for 8 years, vice president for 8 years and another going for another 8 years while you have nothing.
We are even making this argument on a Yoruba platform, so mention one sphere in life you lead us. Is it tech, fashion, business, entertainment, development, wealth, economy, school,?

I disagree. Many Yorubas here have insulted Igbos unprovoked – even before all of this "Lagos is no man's land" business. Too many of you are ignorant of Igbo culture and judge it by what you see in Nollywood films.

I will give you one example of your people's tribalism from someone I know.

He is an Igbo man and was sharing a room with a bunch of other Nigerians (mostly other Igbo men). Only one was Yoruba and he brought his relative to stay with them. His relative (another Yoruba man) foolishly believed that all Igbos were ritualists and would kill him in his sleep if they could.

Did you know that when this guy had a seizure, it was those same Igbo guys who saved his life? If not for them, that Yoruba man would probably not be alive today.

Many of your people have backwards conceptions of Igbo people before they even open their mouths so please don't blame Igbo people for your own ignorance and misconceptions.

Thank you smiley

You lied and claimed what is not yours
The reality and contention is that Igbos were quite backward compared to Yoruba and other Southern groups
They should not claim they developed Lagos when we know them to be quite primitive

The truth of the matter is the British developed Lagos, not Igbo and not Yoruba. After the British left, Lagos was still the capital of Nigeria and it was then developed by all Nigerians.

To say that Lagos was developed by the Yoruba is like saying Abuja was developed by the Gwari tribe. I have never seen anyone say the latter so why do you people keep insisting on the former?

My Igbo brethren that insist on saying Igbos developed Lagos are wrong. No, we didn't develop Lagos but we helped to, just like all Nigerians did.

Lagos is Yoruba land but considering its history, as long as it's in Nigeria, Yoruba people have to accept that it's for all Nigerians. You can't have your cake and eat it two.

THAT IS WHY A THREAD LIKE THIS EVEN EXISTS.

The whole idea that not donning clothes make you ''uncivilized'' is a propaganda view that WHITE EUROPEANS living in a freezing environment, invented in order to force those they conquered to become ''more like them'', wearing clothes from head to toe.

BUT THERE IS NO BASIS FOR LINKING CLOTHES-WEARING TO CIVILIZATION.

Our ANCESTORS who built the great pyramids and temples of Egypt and Nubia, invented mathematics, writing, architecture, medicine, philosophy, law, and the sciences, did not dress head to toe in clothes:

Pharaoh Tutankhamun

Pharaoh and Queen

Don't mind them. The biggest reason why many of them were clothed was because of Islam. If not for that, they would have dressed in a similar fashion to the Igbo women there. The same oyigbo people that they're trying to copy are the same ones promoting nudity in their own countries.

Why would I show you a Biafran map when I have no interest in Biafra?

For argument's sake, let's say that the percentage of Christians in Nigeria is 50%.

Let's also say that the percentage of Igbos in Nigeria is about 20%.

This would mean that the Igbo account for 40% of the total Christian population in Nigeria.

If you take this away, what are we left with?

37.5% Christians and 62.5% Muslims.

Your people's rights are already being stamped on by religious bigots as things stands now. You will see what I'm talking about when the Igbos leave.

realG101:
I have observed a trend recently on the internet and especially on nairaland and I believe it will help us all a great deal if we refrain from the trend and get more clarity.

Let's call a spade a spade. That nigeria's affairs are in the hands of tinubu right now is not because yoruba people voted based on tribal sentiment.

It is because as usual there was massive rigging perpetrated by the inec as a result of corruption and impunity in the system. This is just one leg of it.

The second reason is that, as far as elections are concerned, the nigeria police and judiciary have always acted as arms of the ruling party at any given time.

That said, one problem that Nigerians have is that we have this habit of relegating real issues and hopping on trivial ones. We get carried away in the process and even begin to fight ourselves on tribal or religious basis while the real enemy continues to do more damage.

It's not further math. If all the yorubas (SW) voted for tinubu and all the igbos (SE) and SS voted for obi, obi would have out performed tinubu in a free and fair election.

This tells us that tribal voting wasn't the big factor in tinubu's victory, it was electoral malpractice.

See all that energy we expend dragging and cursing people who allegedly voted tinubu on tribal basis, let us channel it towards re-examing how events unfolded during the last general election, which loopholes inec and apc exploited for their rigging game and let us brainstorm on how to be prepared to beat them to the game by bridging those loopholes next election.

I can assure you that if we continue trading blames over who didn't vote for the right candidate and refuse to talk about the real issues, 2027 election will also come and go and the story will remain the same.

I'm sure those who didn't apply wisdom in voting during the general election are regreting already. We don't really need to over flog the issue.

The post election tribal war on the internet is even a threat to sensible voting in subsequent elections so let's nip it in the bud.

God bless Nigeria.

People tend to generalise but how many people from the South-West (from the States that voted APC) actually came out to say that the results were rigged and that they did not vote for Tinubu?

Look at what happened in Rivers State. There were many Rivers people who came out to say that they did not vote the Tinubu-led administration in.

Have we seen this anywhere in the South-West (excluding Lagos and Osun states)?

Tinubu is very purposefully making his administration to be 'Yoruba-heavy' so that his people can take the blame for his poor policies. More of them should be speaking against this.
