Politics / Gov. Rochas Okorocha Receives Lifetime Achievement Award In Turkey. by niceone3(m): 6:27pm On May 17, 2012 |
Gov.Rochas Okorocha receives Lifetime Achievement Award in Turkey. In other positive news, Governor Rochas Okorocha was recently awarded the Diamond Lifetime Achievement Award by the Yildiz Teknik University, Turkey. The honour was made in recognition of Governor Okorocha’s efforts in pioneering FREE EDUCATION for the less privileged in Nigeria. According to information contained in a Press release made available to IMO STATE BLOG, Yildiz Teknik University disclosed plans to enter into an exchange programme with the state to train our youths in several engineering fields as well as explore the possibility of setting up a campus in the state. The management of the institution stated that Gov. Okorocha was selected based on his outstanding contribution in promoting education and religious tolerance.” In his acceptance speech, Gov. Okorocha, dedicated the award to the less-privileged and called for closer cooperation between Nigeria and Turkey. He also pointed out that both nations shared a similarity in their aspiration for growth and to improve the lives of their people adding that quality education was one of the secrets behind the rapid development of Turkey. He stated that Nigeria required foreign assistance to address its energy problem but warned that only serious firms will be considered as the days of “briefcase contractors” were over in Imo State. “The days of briefcase contractors are over. There are great business opportunities in Imo state for Turkey investors to make profit if they are genuine. We don’t need money, aid or grant rather partnership to unlock the human and natural potentials of our people. We no longer need economic girlfriends but wives” Governor Okorocha who was on an Economic Mission to Turkey promised that his administration would continue to develop world class infrastructure and put in place enabling policies to attract foreign investment for employment and rural development. Rector of the institution, Prof. Ismail Yuksek praised Gov. Okorocha’s achievements barely one year in office and charged him to continue his quest for rapid human and infrastructural development of Imo state. Also speaking at the Ceremony, Director-General of the Nigerian-Turkey Chamber of commerce and Industry, Dr. Hyacinth Eche said that the choice of Gov. Okorocha for the award was made after an exhaustive search for worthy Nigerians. He called for greater cooperation between both countries. The Award comes as an International endorsement for the FREE EDUCATION programme. It is worthy to note that the Yidiz Teknik Univeristy (Yildiz Technical University) is one of the seven government universities in İstanbul. Founded in 1911, it is listed as the third oldest university in Turkey. It is also regarded as one of the best universities in Turkey. http://www.imostateblog.com/2012/05/17/gov-rochas-okorocha-receives-lifetime-achievement-award-in-turkey/ "The days of briefcase contractors are over. wow ! the consistent dominance of imo in jamb enrollment over the years is simply unbelievable . sometimes i wonder if imo indigenes are the most populous in Nigeria. i wouldn't want to believe that though but going by the consistent huge distance with which they surpass the states that are closest to them( consistently in tens of thousands) one wonders if they really are. |

Guardian: why do people love painting any thing Nigeria black. did the previous winners of the Mr Nigeria pageant did badly in the world stage? for your info Ikenna Brian okwara the Ist niaja rep made it to the semis in the world stage in 2007 while Kenneth okoli, the second niaja rep was the second runners up in 2010. so what da fuss about. Atleast at this stage, with their experience they know the demands of the competition in the world stage. the competition is not all about how cute, how macho, how prominent your packs are but also includes how intelligent, how smart, how well you carry yourself, how composed, how strong you can be in a physical exercise etc. all these are the essential ingredient of a real mr. though Bakare may not be as eye catching as his two predecessors, but let just give him a chance. nobody knows what may happen in the world stage. |

well i must confess that 2007-2011 saw Nigeria producing one of its best governors in history. However, in all i have to give it to Chibuike Amechi cos before he came rivers state was literally in disarray. but within just 3yrs( he lost a year to umehia) he was able to touch almost all aspect of the economy. the kind of primary and secondary school i saw when i recently visited ph can compete with the best in the world though i dont know the measure he has in place to safeguard those state of the art facilities. ph is just in the boiling point with construction and restructuring going on here and their. the completed roads are mostly dual carriage and a beauty to behold. i was really impressed with what as saw. chime and fash are also quit impressive and deserve commendation |
Religion / Re: World Ends On Saturday? ('Judgement Day May 21') by niceone3(m): 11:57pm On May 17, 2011 |
hey peeps, i tink it is high time we stopped attaching too much importance to religion cos it had for long fulfied it purpose (conquest, colonisation etc). we have to utilise the tme we lend to religion in doing something usefull to ourselves and the society at large just as the free thinkers and scientists. i think the world would have been a far more advanced world if there had been no religion as could be examplified during the dark age when religion held everything about man from craddle to grave and the Greco-Romans spirit of inquiry was blown to oblovion which resulted to attendant technological/economic inertia for as long as the dark age lasted. in as much as i am not against religion, i think it is tme we stopped making it too consequential. txs |

Politics / Re: Would Gej Be Showing Signs of Victory Without The Sw Votes? by niceone3(m): 1:54pm On Apr 18, 2011 |
at poster, GEJ emerging as the winner of the just concluded election is a collective efforts of voters from different geopolitical zones and i don't think the SW region votes in particular did swing the votes in favour of GEJ cos he could still win without the six SW states since he could still easily meet d 25% votes of 2/3 of the states and FCT (he currently holds at least 25% of votes cast in 33 states as well as d FCT ) so you can do the simple maths of what would be if all the SW states had not voted for GEJ. also, when we talk about the vote count d almost 10m+ votes lead by GEJ can hardly be overturn by any single geopolitical zone. so i think u are entirely wrong imo, i think it is better to look at GEJ victory as a collective wish of Nigerian as the vote spread suggests rather than looking at it on a ethno-religious lens txs. |
