Vice President Namadi Sambo has boasted that he would deliver over two million votes to President Goodluck Jonathan in his home state, Kaduna, in the February 14, 2015 presidential election. He said he would achieve the feat by virtue of the overwhelming support the Peoples Democratic Party enjoys in the state. A statement by his spokesman, Umar Sani, on Monday, quoted Sambo as speaking during a meeting of the Kaduna. Source: Punch Newspapers |

Please, I need a good and verifiable answer to my curiosity - is it right and hygenic to give my 7 months old cuncumber and water melon? She started taking these since when she was having teething problems and just a little cut of either fruits(often slightly iced) always suits her pains as she likes sucking them with her tongue against her gums. Now, that the teething pains have gone, she always crave for it when ever am taking of the fruits. Now she can bite and bite any small slice of either cuncumber or water melon with passion till the slice vanishes. My concern now, is that, is it advisable to keep giving her these fruits like am giving her now? |
She go dey show dem these stuff there. All the law makers will be in serious trouble. Confusion ni! |
He is no match to Ambode |
This is not a new story again na |
Why should Koro reject the result, when it is now the tradition of PDP that minority is bigger than majority? In Ekiti, 7 legislators had their way over 19 legislators; in Governor's forum, it was same; in Rivers, the same thing; in Edo, they have been working at it, but so far failed. Koro is part and parcel of the PDP machinery that upholds this unconventional rule for PDP. So, he who comes to equity must come with clean hands. |
This man is good to go, whether he is from Lagos or not. Action and development is what we need. Lagos is a cosmopolitan mega city, which boast of the best diversity of different tribes in Nigeria. Any Nigerian can become the Governor of Lagos state |
Why na? Is going to Senate his birthright? May be he has unfinished business of more constituency allowance which he remembered that gave him a dose of shock, after being defeated. Although, he was a nice lawmaker. He dare not die at this time in Jesus name. Amen |

Can you imagine? Its only in Nigeria of today that a legitimate government celebrate thieves and give undue advantage to them over better and credible persons in the society. Yesterday, it was Fayose, Alamayesghia, Buruj Kashamu, Olabode George, etc and now it is Abacha. Nigeria I hail thee. |

There are strong indications that the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Banabas Gemade has decided to join the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, to realize his re-election bid in the Senate. Already Senator Gemade who represents Benue North East Senatorial District has tendered a letter of withdrawal from the PDP’s senatorial primaries expected to hold tomorrow as a result of the alleged hijack of the process by the State Governor, Gabriel Suswan. A close ally of the erstwhile National Chairman of the PDP who spoke to Saturday Vanguard on the condition of anonymity hinted that Senator Gemade may likely pick the APC form on Monday to contest the senatorial election in the area. The source further stated that Gemade who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on National Planning will join forces with the former governor of the state and Senate Minority Leader, Senator George Akume to ensure that APC captures the state in 2015 general elections. The source claimed that Senator Gemade decided to leave the PDP because the National Working Committee, NWC, of the PDP, turned down the list of his (Gemade) delegates and recognized the governor’s list which he claimed were allegedly written in the comfort of his Anyiim, Logo country home, Benue State. It will be recalled that Senator Akume was allegedly pushed out of the PDP and he joined the opposition party to win his election in 2011 and has become a Chieftain of the APC and Minority Leader in the senate. Senator Gemade in his withdrawal letter addressed to the National Chairman of the PDP Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu dated December 2nd, 2014, with the title “PDP primary elections for Senate 2015-withdrawal”, complained about lack of transparency and level playing field in the way and manner the party’s primary election is being conducted. He lamented over his alleged forceful withdrawal from the PDP senatorial primaries, saying that he had realised that things had degenerated to the level that no one should expect a level playing field or even any democratic action in the party’s affairs. He said that as a founding member of the PDP in 1998 and indeed the leader of the Conveners in Benue State, he was pained by the undemocratic developments in the party where the party structure was surrendered to the state government. Senator Gemade noted, with dismay, that there was no room for an honest and law abiding member of PDP in having a fair chance in any contest in the forthcoming primary elections as anyone who was capable of manipulating the process, albeit illegally, was free to do so, and will be protected. The letter for his withdrawal read in part: “I am constrained to write you for the fourth time in two months on the subject matter of the happenings in the PDP in my state as they affect me and our teeming members who have toiled over the years to give victory to our party for four consecutive general elections. “As a founding member of this party in 1998 and indeed the leader of the Conveners in Benue State, I am pained by these developments and I want to put on record my feelings even if there is no result arising from it. “At least, the history of my service as convener, member national steering committee, member Executive Committee (NEC), member National Working Committee (NWC), member Board of Trustees (BOT), National Chairman and Chairman National Caucus should count. “I have come to realise that things have got to a point where one cannot expect a level playing ground or even any democratic action in our affairs in the party. White007:Point of correction, Major Umukoro was not killed. He, like Col. Nyiam, escaped to the U.S where he enroled into university lecturing and later became a Prof of Criminology in a university there. I think he should be the country now, since he has nothing to fear, as they were granted pardon by Gen. Abdusalam Abubakar. But for a few communication gap, the coup would have been a huge success. Although, I lost my step dad(staff Sergeant M. Adomokhai), who was one of the anchor men of the coup. He was executed along with the unlucky officers. One painful thing was that even when they(military police) came at night to arrest them in SIB, Ojo cantonment, he had every opportunity to escape, but being a galant officers that he was, he opted to face whatever penalty awaits others like him. When a guard asked him to leave that he, as the guard is willing to face any query for the escape, he declined and insisted that he is a gallant soldier and he would not retreat. He was actually the last soldier standing on the coup day. He was executed along with others. Rest in peace daddy Adomokhai, aka 'Bode'

INTRODUCTION: In a lecture on Crises Resolution, one of my lecturers once said to the students - "Can any one explain in details, if the region known as the North is cursed because of the crises bedeviling northern regions over the world". I can remember vivdly that one of my course mates, stood up, went down memory lane, giving historical accounts of how the North is synonymous with crises all over the wolrd. He further cited examples of Nigeria, Kenya, Somalia, just to mention but a few. Now looking back to that class and the news I stumbled on this monrning about the killings in Kenya, may I ask, this time not the North itself, but NorthEast, taking into consideration that same terrorist activities going on in the Northeast of Nigeria, is what is going on in the Kenyan's Northeast as well as many northeast in other countries or enclaves or states in the world. What is wrong with NorthEast? Just as the Northeast region of Nigeria, witnessing wanton killings by the Boko Haram militants, READ WHAT IS HAPPENING IN NORTHEAST KENYA: Gunmen have massacred at least 36 quarry workers in a fresh attack in Kenya’s NORTH-EAST, police and the Red Cross said on Tuesday, the latest in a series of strikes in the troubled region bordering war-torn Somalia. The attackers sprayed gunfire at tents where the workers were sleeping in the early hours of Tuesday morning near the town of Mandera, where Somalia’s Al-Qaeda-affiliated Shebab and other militia have carried out a string of raids, Kenyan media said. The gunmen then separated non-Muslims from the other workers, beheaded several and executed the rest with a bullet to the head, police sources and media reports said, a pattern of attack similar to the killing of 28 people on a bus in the same region last month. The quarry killings follow a separate attack Monday night in the town of Wajir — which like Mandera is close to the dangerous border with war-torn Somalia — which left one person dead and 12 wounded when gunmen hurled grenades and fired into a bar. “Our team is on the ground undertaking assessments of the attack,” the Kenya Red Cross said Tuesday. Police spokesman Zipporah Mboroki confirmed the attacks but said the force would provide exact tolls of those killed later. However, a senior police official said 36 people had been killed and there were fears others may have been abducted. “We have lost 36 people, but there are others missing,” said the police official, who asked not to be named. “We don’t know whether they were taken by the attackers.” – Region repeatedly hit – The quarry attack, some 15 kilometres (10 miles) from the remote town of Mandera, is close to where Islamists last month executed 28 non-Muslims who were grabbed from a bus. The Shehab said the bus attack was carried out in revenge for police raids on mosques in Kenya’s key port of Mombasa. Kenya has suffered a series of attacks since invading Somalia in 2011 to attack the Shebab. Kenyan forces have since joined an African Union force battling the Islamists. No one has so far claimed responsibility for either of the attacks overnight Monday to Tuesday. Several key unions including for civil servants have warned members to leave the restive northeast until the government can ensure their safety. Professionals working in the largely Muslim and ethnic Somali northeastern regions often come from further south in Kenya, where Christians make up about 80 percent of the population. Those working in the quarry attacked on Tuesday were also reported to have been from outside the region. On Sunday, Kenyan media reported that the embattled interior minister and police chief may soon be sacked over “repeated lapses” in security following a wave of attacks. Both officials mentioned in the report have been under fire since last year’s attack by the Shebab against the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi, in which at least 67 people were killed in a siege involving just four gunmen and which lasted four days. Worries over internal security mounted when Shebab rebels massacred 100 people in a string of raids against villages in the Lamu region on the Kenyan coast in June and July. |

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has challenged the DSS to immediately tell Nigerians the outcome of its investigations into the cooked-up allegation of PVC cloning that forced the security agency to unlawfully invade the party’s offices in Lagos over a week ago. In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said if no evidence of PVC cloning was found, the DSS should apologize to Nigerians for acting on the basis of faulty intelligence. It said any further delay in telling Nigerians the outcome of the investigations, after almost 10 days, could mean that the DSS is trying to manufacture evidence to support its faulty intelligence. ”Without carrying out any investigation and with no shred of evidence, the DSS gleefully announced to the world that they stormed our data centre because they got information that Permanent Voters Cards were being cloned there. ”On the basis of this uncorroborated announcement, the PDP categorically accused the APC of cloning PVCs. It is now over a week since the DSS carted away materials and computer servers after ransacking our offices for over two hours. The agency’s experts must have analyzed the information in the materials and on the servers. ”Therefore, we are now asking them to immediately announce their findings to the world. After all, it took them only a few hours after their Gestapo-like invasion of our offices before they issued their baseless allegation of PVC cloning to justify their action,” APC said. The party said while it has gone to court to seek redress, the DSS still owes Nigerians an explanation and, if indeed no evidence of card cloning was found, an unreserved apology to them (NIgerians). It advised the DSS to always endeavour to act professionally and fairly in carrying out its duties, rather than taking beer parlour gossips as useful intelligence, adding: ”It is this type of faulty intelligence that has been stifling the efforts to desconstruct Boko Haram and faclitate the battle to end the insurgency that is daily killing and maiming innocent Nigerians. |
