This is total nonsense. Why are we wasteful in Nigeria? An helicopter patrolling our rail lines or escorting trains. Who cursed Nigeria? How much is the total maintenance cost of the chopper per trip and how much is the train generating? I really don’t understand why?

I’m sorry. This is not a solution. Who’s paying for the helicopter. If it’s just for surveillance, they should use drones.
Use attack helicopters (if available) to eliminate the bandits in their hideouts in the bush.

Prophet Rev Shalomkelvin Akinbo, the head pastor of Doersnation International Church in Akure, the capital of Ondo State has prophesied who the next Nigerian president would be.

In a two-minute video, the clergyman said that the next Nigerian president after President Buhari is going to be the current Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi. He confidently said that nothing will stop the minister from being Nigeria’s next president except death.

A Naval officer attached to Umuikaa Naval base in Ngwa, Abia State has allegedly killed a man identified as Eziyi Uchendu over his “refusal to part with a bribe” at a checkpoint around Owerri NTA Junction, along Aba–Umuahia Road on Friday 1st April, 2022.

According to SaharaReporters, a witness said some officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) who were with the soldiers at the checkpoint stopped Uchendu and made their request known but he failed to comply, insisting that his documents were complete.

The witness said that the refusal of the deceased to pay the bribe led to a heated argument between him and the FRSC and Naval officers.

The argument later led to the shooting of the driver at close range by one of the soldiers.

Residents of the area were said to have escalated the situation into a protest which the police mobilised to the area found difficult to control.

“The road safety officers working with the soldiers flagged him down and he complied. They demanded money from him and he refused, insisting that all his papers were intact. It later degenerated into a lot of arguments and one of the soldiers shot him.

“He was coming from Aba towards Umuahia Road, at that Owerri NTA junction. After he was shot, people around started rioting, the officer who shot him said he wanted to shoot his tyre.”

The State Police Spokesman, Geoffrey Ogbonna, could not be reached for comments at the time of filing this report.

A housewife, Ganiyat Abbass and her husband, Olatunbosun, have been arrested by the police for allegedly stealing a six-day-old baby in Iwo, Osun State.

The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Wale Olokode, on Friday paraded the couple, two suspected fraudsters, identified as Olaolu James and Favour Ige; as well as four suspected armed robbers – Agbebaku David, Olubunmi Adewale, Oderinde Oluwaseun, and Oluwaseun Adejuyigbe.
According to Olokode, the Abbass were reported on Thursday, March 24, to have stolen a six-day-old baby girl from its lactating mother, Jemilat Musa.

Ganiyat was alleged to have tricked the mother, said to be having a medical challenge, with some wraps of cornmeal and N200 for bean cake.

“Shortly after the baby’s mother left to buy the bean cake, the suspect quickly put the baby inside a sack and ran away. The suspects were arrested in the early hours of Friday, March 25, 2022, in collaboration with the civilian JTF,” Olokode said.

It was reported that Ganiyat, who said she had yet to have her own baby, explained that she did not intend to steal the baby.

Speaking in Yoruba language, Ganiyat said, “I live in the same house with the mother of the baby. On Thursday, I bought cornmeal for her and she requested for bean pod. I gave her N200 to buy it. Immediately she left, the baby started crying and I tried all tricks to make her stop crying but the baby did not stop crying.

“So, I decided to take the baby and walked to my fiancé’s house in the Agbowo area of Iwo around 8pm. I lost my way while going and upon inquiring for direction from some people, I was accosted and alleged of stealing the baby. My husband was also arrested.”

The police boss said all the suspects would be taken to court after an investigation into their various crimes had been concluded.

Two children have been confirmed dead following the collapse of a toilet at UK Bello Memorial Primary School, Paiko, in Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to a report, it is unclear what the children were doing around the building that was said to be weak.
While some eyewitnesses claimed that the children, a boy and a girl, were hawking sachet water with their colleagues around the school when the building collapsed on them, killing them on the spot, others said they were scavenging for scraps when the toilet collapsed.

A vigilante member identified as Sylvester has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing a 22-year-old man, Femi, in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident was said to have happened in the early hours of Wednesday, March 16, around Ofotuku Road in Ugwanja area of Sapele.

According to a report, some persons were watching a traditional worshippers dance festival in the area when the alleged killer suddenly emerged and shot the young man dead on the spot.

“His vigilante colleagues wasted no time in arresting him and taking him to the police station and as I speak to you, he is behind the bars while investigation will be carried out.” an eye witness said.

The corpse of the victim has been deposited at the Sapele Central Morgue.

A member of the community claimed that the suspect and Femi had a misunderstanding a long time ago and Sylvester allegedly threatened to deal with him.

36-year-old Gabriel Boric has been sworn in as Chile’s new president after its elections last November, becoming the country’s youngest president in its history.

Boric received the presidential sash from outgoing President Sebastian Pinera on Friday at the Congress building in the port city of Valparaiso.



“Before the Chilean people, I make my pledge,” Boric said.

Boric is Chile’s youngest president, replacing Sebastián Piñera, who ended his second term with a disapproval rating of 71 percent, the worst recorded by a president since the return of democracy in 1990.

Boric saw a record voter turnout last year, providing nearly 56 percent of the vote to beat opponent José Antonio Kast.



Boric’s new administration follows large-scale protests in 2019 over unequal wealth distribution in income, healthcare, education and pensions.

He has promised to boost the Chilean tax regime to fund social reform and halt the country’s spiralling debt.

In January, Boric announced that his cabinet was composed of women and young people, including two colleagues who had led countrywide protests in 2011 for free, quality education.

A 21-year-old Kenyan woman identified as Edda Wakesho has been sentenced to life in prison for defiling a 4-year-old boy.

The 21-year-old, who was a house help in Kiembeni Estate, Mombasa, filmed herself engaging in the act with the minor and later shared it on a p0rn0graphic site to make money.

She was slammed with a life sentence for defiling the boy and a further 10 years for filming the act on Wednesday 2nd March, by the Senior Resident Magistrate Florence Macharia.

According to the investigating officer, the accused is part of a child p0rn0graphy syndicate that collaborates with a rogue house to abuse children and film the acts.

The woman, in her defence, said that she innocently accepted a friend request from Facebook and was introduced to a page where people post nude photos and videos.

She said that she was recruited into the syndicate with the promise of being paid lots of money.

The minor’s mother got a video recording of the heinous deed via a foreign cellphone number, according to the court.

The Ogun State Police Command is currently investigating Akinyemi Thomas, a 38-year-old imposter.

On February 17, 2022, Akinyemi Thomas was arrested for impersonating a police officer.

The suspect was apprehended while police officers attached to the Sagamu divisional headquarters were on routine patrol with the DPO, CSP Godwin Idehai when they spotted him in full police camouflage uniform under the bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi who confirmed the arrest said the suspect, Akinyemi Thomas' conduct raised the suspicion of the policemen who then stopped to question him. Immediately the patrol vehicle stopped, the suspect took to his heels. He was then chased and apprehended.”

On interrogation, he confessed being a dismissed policeman but using the uniform to extort unsuspecting members of the public.”

“Recovered from him aside from the uniform is a police warrant card.

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police CP Lanre Bankole has ordered a full investigation into the activities of the suspect with the view to charging him to court as soon as possible.

A commercial driver, Ibrahim Yusuf, has been arrested by the police after he allegedly stabbed and slit the throat of Awotola Victor, an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), over enforcement of traffic rules.

The incident reportedly occurred over the weekend at about 3.30 pm at the Ojodu-Berger area of Lagos state.

It was gathered that on that fateful weekend, Awotola was on his duty post alongside his colleagues when the mini-bus (Korope) with number plate, KJA 953 YE was impounded over a willful obstruction.

Yusuf was said to have disappeared from the scene only to reappear with a big knife with which he stabbed the official on the head and neck whilst he escaped afterward with the aid of the street urchins around the area but the officials applied professional effort and prevented him from moving the vehicle away.

According to Vanguard, eyewitnesses said Awotola was immediately rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital by his colleagues.

Yusuf was later apprehended by the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and handed over to policemen attached to the Ojodu Police Station where he is currently been interrogated.

LASTMA General Manager, Bolaji Oreagba said it was perpetrated over the weekend at about 3.30 pm when Awotola alongside a patrol team apprehend Yusuf who was obstructing the flow of traffic on the road.

Oreagba disclosed this in a statement signed by LASTMA’s spokesperson, Olumide Filade on Wednesday.

He said: “According to reports received on the incident, Yusuf, the minibus driver, and offender, was noted to be causing willful obstruction at River Valley Estate and after refusing all entreaties to move away from the place, the vehicle was to be apprehended.

“At this juncture, the driver disappeared only to reappear unexpectedly with a big knife with which he cut Awotola’s head and neck, whilst he escaped afterwards with the aid of the street urchins around the area but his vehicle was apprehended and its custody taken by the agency”.

While urging Lagos road users to be law-abiding, Oreagba stated: “any road user that violates the State Traffic Law as stated in the amended Lagos Transport Reform Laws of 2018 and in line with the state government first pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S. agenda will have themselves to blame for committing assault on any government official.”

A 23-year-old website developer, Franklyn Onoaghakpote, has narrated his near-death experience at the hands of suspected kidnappers in Benin, Edo State.

Speaking with journalists in Benin on Sunday, Onoaghakpote said that he was beaten and taken to a popular hotel on Okhoro Street in Benin City, where he was brutalised for several hours.

Onoaghakpote, in a petition to the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Philip Ogbadu, dated February 11, 2022, and titled, ‘A case of conspiracy and kidnapping against one Michael and others’, said he lost valuable worth N20m to the kidnappers.

He said, “On February 10, 2022, the said Michael requested to see me concerning a website I developed for him two years ago. But when I got there, I waited for him only for him to appear with about 20 boys who abducted me at gunpoint.

“They blindfolded me, tied my hands and took me to an uncompleted building where they started beating me and forcefully took valuables from me.

“Among the items were a Samsung S21 Ultra with IMEI No: 350299944273493/352817864273496; an iPhone 6, and my bank transfer PIN. They transferred the sum of N4,900,000 from my GT Bank account to a Polaris Bank account, stole $15,000 worth of Bitcoin, my gold necklace and a hand chain.

“They took me to a river, stripped me naked and started beating me again. After the beating, they blindfolded me, took me to a room where I was kept for seven hours and called my parents for a ransom of N16m. They told my parents they would kill me if they refused to pay.

“They put a call to their father, who they claimed to be a military man who ordered them to shoot my legs, but they ended up hitting my legs with planks before I was released to go around 2.30am on February 11, 2022.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Bello Kontongs, who confirmed the report said he was expecting a detailed briefing from the anti-kidnapping department of the police.

Kontongs, however, said three persons had been arrested in connection with the case.

A member of the Aiye confraternity, John Gabriel, has revealed how he sold his brother out to be killed by members of his group during a reprisal attack, in the Morogbo area of Lagos, seven years ago.

The 28-year-old suspect, a former tricycle operator was arrested by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team, IRT alongside two other suspected cultists: Godwin Ovie -Ogbar, a suspected member of Vikings confraternity and Olaleye Alashe, a suspected member of the Aiye cult group.

During interrogation, the self-confessed cultist said that; “My elder brother was killed by members of my cult group, Aiye. My brother was a member of the Eiye confraternity.

“In 2015, there was a clash between Alora and Aiye confraternities. Somehow, Eiye got involved in the clash. Two members of the Aiye cult group were killed then and our people were looking for a way to retaliate Perere and Ogar, who are members of the same cult group, called me and asked me if I knew any Eiye members in my area. I told them I didn’t know anyone except my brother who lived in the same house with me”

” I didn’t know that they were planning to kill him. On the day he was killed, I sat in front of our house at the Checkpoint area of Morogbo, with my brother and one of my friends, Michael Odili. A member of my group (Aiye)FM, who is also my friend, called me to accompany him to where they sell cooked noodles.

“ I was still there when I got the news that my brother had been shot. Those responsible for his death were s Perere and Ogar. I didn’t know that they would kill my brother. Since then, I stopped relating with Perere and Ogar”.

The suspect and others arrested would be charged to court, according to IRT sources.

The operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested the son of a proprietress and teacher at a private school in Asaba, Emeka Nwogbo, in connection with the death of a one-year-seven-month-old pre-Nursery pupil of the school, Obina Udeze.

It was earlier reported that Obina was hospitalised after he was given 31 strokes of the cane for playing with water on Monday.

Obina was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba where he eventually died on Saturday morning.



According to PUNCH, the victim’s mother, Gift, who spoke via phone on Saturday, said her son returned from the school – Arise and Shine Nursery and Primary School – on Monday with marks of strokes all over his body.

Recalling the sad incident, she said; “I took him back to the school immediately to enquire why he was beaten that much. The proprietress asked me if I knew the gravity of my son’s offence; a boy of a year and seven months. I told her I would come back the next day to know the person who beat him.

“On my way home, some pupils of the same school told me how my son was tied up and given several strokes of cane because he said he was hungry. Throughout the night, he was running temperature. On Tuesday, I took him to the school to complain. The woman said I was disturbing the peace of the school.”

Gift explained that she left the school and took Udeze to the hospital where he was admitted, adding that the proprietress didn’t bother to visit the boy.

She stated, “On Thursday, he went into a coma. That was when I was involved in a non-governmental organisation and the police went to the school. The woman’s son (Nwogbo) told the police that he flogged my son.

“He said he (Udeze) was playing with the tap but his mother even said my son’s hand couldn’t reach where the tap is. At the GRA Police Station, he changed the narrative; he said my son pushed another child and he beat him. The proprietress herself claimed my son was stubborn and cried a lot.”

The bereaved mother said she asked more pupils what transpired that day and was told that Udeze took his lunch box to “the Big Mummy (the proprietress),” crying.

“They said she collected the box from him and complained that he cried too much. They said the proprietress’ son tied him up and started flogging him. He was my only child; my everything. He became so weak and died this morning (Saturday) at the emergency ward of the FMC,” she stated before breaking down in tears.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, said the police had commenced investigation into Udeze’s death.

He said, “According to the information available to me, the child was beaten by a son of the proprietress. The son is a teacher in the school. He is in custody. The little boy died this morning.

“The reason (for the beating) is immaterial. What could make an adult flog a one-year-seven-month-old child?”
