Certitude:The CD is still on sale in major Igbo owned music shops. Okey, Chika Okpara, Obi Igwe were great gospel singers. |
Ihe Emebiwo by Okwey, okwey records 1985, (Aba). Great Igbo gospel album! |
On Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, RCC have been on site between 9th Mile and Ugwuoba since 5 weeks, courtesy of the federal government. Shame on Ekweremadu and Madueke who were close to Jonathan but could not influence anything positive on that road for over 4 years they called the shots in Abuja. For doubters, landlord please travel and see! |
Enitona Hotel at Eziama GRA, Umungasi Aba is owned by Chief Augustine Nnamani, an Enugu State man from Amechi-Awknanaw. It used to be a nice balling point for Enyimba yuppies in the 80s/90s. Enyimba n' Aba!! |
It's even incredible that most drivers in Nigeria have no idea where tyre air pressures are written by the automobile manufacturer on cars. That and how to use a fuel disperser nozzle while filling your tank in a petrol station are some of the first things a learner is thought in driving school. Certainly, most of the driving school instructors in Nigeria do not know about the importance of such knowledge. |
Another problem is that the manual pressure gauge vulcanisers use in Nigeria are sometimes inaccurate. When i noticed the danger i decided to buy a digital tyre pressure gauge. I control the pressure with it by myself. I bought mine for €10 about 5 years ago in Germany. I don't know if such is currently in sale in Nigeria. |
For those doubting Federal Government contract awarded RCC for the reconstruction of Enugu- Amansea section of En-On highway, just go to 9th Mile and see the signboard for the contract. Enugu and Anambra people who use the road know that the original builders of the road RCC is back to restore the good old 45 minutes ride between Enugu and Onitsha. It has nothing to do with Enugu state government. It's purely federal government contract. 5.5 billion Naira was budgeted for that road by the federal government in 2016. By the way, the last major work on that Highway was before Zik's burial in 1996. The job was carried out by PTF under Buhari's leadership. Landlord travel and see!! |
RCC was working seriously between 9th Mile and Ugwuoba end of Enugu-Onitsha Highway when i passed there about 3 weeks ago. Drivers were then using the Highway instead of old road between Enugu and Awka. I do not know about other Eastern roads though. |
flyingsnail:There is nothing like 'the money' in Igbo language. Ka mü kpö nmadu abuo na Ariaria Aba ka ha nweta ego ole ha kwüru. If you want to write in Igbo, please do but make sure you minimize Engrigbo as possible. Chijioke Mbanefo siri anyi süba asusu Igbo. Igbo amaka!! |
A nice one from the governor! After reconstructing Oji-River and Ugwuoba old road, the state government should put solid metal barriers to stop heavy trucks from passing through the road. Just as was done on Trans- Ekulu - Opi road when Chime was the governor. The heavy trucks can use the so called federal express road or look for alternative routes. Enugu state needs to link our communities with new asphalt roads. The governor should equally endeavour to include sidewalks on the new urban roads. I in particular is not happy the way Abakpa, Trans-Ekulu and Emene roads were built without sidewalks. Any modern city must have sidewalk on its roads. |
You must be like 60 years old How can you remember all these legends...
Well, i was born early 70s. I was in JS1 when Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu was opened by the then military governor of old Anambra state, Navy Commodore Alison Amechi Madueke in 1985. I watched Enugu Rangers play the opening match against a Gabonese team. You know how i remember those legends? It all goes back to my high school days in Enugu. I was made to love history. History has always been a part of my life. Today, thanks to that, i can easily recall happenings in Enyimba City and Coal City in the 80s and early 90s. Check my signature on Enugu thread and general views on Igbo culture and history. Osita Osadebe also paid tribute to Rangers when they won African Cup Winners Cup in the 70s. Some of the names i mentioned yesterday were members of that victorious 1976/77 squad . Someone alluded that i forgot Benedict Ugwu. Surugede, as he was nicknamed, was one of the pillars of Rangers defence in late 80s/early 90s. I equally remember Mathias Obianika, Stanley Okoronkwo, Chibuzo Ehilegbu and Kingsley Onye. I grew up in Enugu when we would happily after a match, walk to shake hands with homeboys Silvanus Okpara and John Chiedozie outside the stadium. Both players were playing in England then, but they were down to earth. Uno-enu Rangers and his fans club were always ready to support the players with good music. These are stuffs i don't need Google to teach me. I lived it live in Enugu. |
Congratulations to Coal City lads! The mighty flying antelopes have done it once more. Rangers nma nma nü - Osadebe 77!! Remembering great Enugu Rangers players who have won it for the coal city club previously : Emmanuel Okalla, Patrick Okalla, Agwo Nnaji, Ernest Ufelle, Ogidi Ibeabuchi, Nwabueze Nwankwo, Dominick Nwobodo, Nnamdi Nwokeocha, Christain Chukwu, Okey Isima, Aloy Atuegbu, Okwuchukwu Obiora, Ifeanyi Onyedika, Christain Ogbodo, Keneth Bordman, Mike Ogbuodudu, Jude Agada, Ikechukwu Ofoje, Luis Igweilo, Justus Enwendu, Mike Emenalor, Charles Okonkwo, Totty Totty, Benjamin Okorogwu, Andrew Uwe, Jay Jay Okocha, and many more players i can't remember now. 042 for life!!! |
The duo should attend next Ikeji festival in Arondizuogu. Pericomo and his famous masquerade Inyikigbudu, will be waiting for them. If it was in the 80s, Obiagu Road in Enugu was the normal place of showing that you have arrived. It was ogbo mmanwu during Easter celebration in Enugu. The likes of Anya- Anya, Ogene Camp, Black Children, Ugomba City Boys, Ugonma Amurri, Umuabi masquerade and that dreadful masquerade from Umuatugboma Akegbe called Inyiya-Agbaoku. |
Whether or whethernt(apology to Zebrudaya), Enugu is the melting-port of Igboland. Enugu bü isi mmiri Anigbo!! That masquerade with big teeth looks like the one from Black Children Group, Amagunze Nkanu. |
So what magic is Tanzania using? The East African country just grew its GDP by an impressive 7.9% last quarter. Apparently, it does not depend on crude oil export. |
Keneking:Saudi Arabia just like other OPEC member countries are hurt deeply by the slump in crude oil price. The difference between Nigeria and others is that they at least saved some billions of dollars , while the former ruling government in Nigeria wasted earnings from about 750 million barrels of crude (annual volume)sold at average price of $85, for over four years. Just like Nigeria, Saudi rulers have realized that economic boom for one-commodity based economies is a recipe for disaster, especially when the earnings are creamed-off by the ruling elites. |
A classic Silberpfeil - love from Stuttgart!! |
Gov. Ugwuanyi is erroneously regarded as a dull guy, perhaps due to his unappealing stature. He looks more like an 80s OMATA Igboman who has just gotten a new chieftancy title from his village. But behind that image is a man determined to leave a legacy for his people. While passing Opi Junction on my way to Abuja in July i noticed he chose RCC, yes RCC, to construct the new four lane road from Opi to Nsukka. I am sure he is likely to engage the company on more roads inside the serene university town. Folks say he is really reshaping the town entirely with good new roads. In 1992 during his time as Governor, Okwesilieze Nwodo only left heaps of sand and mud on the same road as he struggled to show Nsukka some love. Not even 1m of asphalt was laid on there before a soldier came saying 'fellow Nigerians' on radio. He was gone and Nsukka people never forgot he brought nothing home! Ugwuanyi seems to have learnt some lesson from Nwodo's fate. He is bringing something home fast and solid. In coal city, he is goofing big time. Enugu residents were used to taking good roads with pedestrian sidewalk for granted during Chime's tenure. One could walk confidently on the city's numerous sidewalks without being scared of a crazy driver hitting you. From Agbani Rd, Ziks Avenue, Ogui Rd, Presidential, Chime Avenue , Garden Avenue etc, 042 was delighted in taking walk on sidewalks! Then came Ugwuanyi, Abakpa and Trans Ekulu roads were built without sidewalks. What a way to take us backward. |
No toll on that road please. The only thing that would make a car freak like me consider paying toll on the highway are if the Chinese build it like the Autobahn A5 between Cologne and Frankfurt , and if i am able to purchase a BMW M3. Would be pure fun doing the 100km highway in 20 minutes. What else?? |
Wait a minute, didn't the FGN budget about 5.5 billion Naira for the same road in 2016? While passing through 9rh mile just last week i saw a huge signboard showing that the reconstruction of Enugu end to Amansea end of the road has been awarded to RCC. Honestly, i was excited when i read that the original contractors of the road in the 80s RCC , was returning to give that important highway a 21st century look. President Buhari must do everything possible to put that road back for good. Remarkably, he was PTF boss when that road was rehabilitated in 1986 before Zik's burial. Mr president, please bring back 45 minutes ride between Enugu and Onitsha!! |
The Coal City state as the largest state in the South East territory wise has huge solar energy potential which as a combo with its fossil energy(coal power plant) could supply enough electricity to the 5 states in the region and beyond. The beautiful state seems to have waited so long for someone or a company to get it started. |
Hey folks, report about Mrs Buhari's US visit was on 9pm NTA news last night with anchor Cyril Stober. The video report was about 2 minutes. Why would CNN report such a low key visit when it has more important news about the next US election? |
On Enugu- Onitsha Expressway: i must commend president Buhari for allocating 5.5 Billion Naira for its reconstruction in 2016 budget. Awarding the job to the original company(RCC) that built the road is equally commendable. A 100km dual-carriageway which in the 80's when it was new, made a ride from Enugu to Onitsha last between 45 -50 minutes must be put to the good use of all Nigerians again. Remarkably, the last reconstruction of that road was done in 1996 when Mr. Buhari was PTF boss. |
I hope RCC is already back on Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. Umunya Junction area looks now like a crater in Mars. That road is the greatest fraud against Ndigbo by the last administration. The PDP top dogs from our area creamed-off the money meant for that road's reconstruction. For over 5 years, shovels and buckets of sands were used as construction equipment on that expressway while more of our people were either injured or died due to incompetence of greedy hawks called politicians . |
RIP to a great African musician!! Your melody laden tune made me to love Sokous music more. We partied a lot dancing your music in Southern Germany in early 2000s. Your influence on younger Congolese like Fally, Gorre, Defao and Awilo keeps your musical footprint on earth alive. Although i cannot speak Lingala language, but through your music i learnt the meaning of 'Bolingo', which means love. May your soul rest in peace, King of African music!! |
A classic 'Stern', a perfect Stuttgarter, Germans would say. There is something romantic and sexy about classic automobiles. Imagine cruising in a car like this one in a cool evening in Coal City, while playing great jazz from George Benson or Glover Washington - better than an orgas.m!! |
Lovelynature:Well, Igboland isn't big if somebody have passion to travel through the five states. There's hardly a town in Igboland i wouldn't figure out its location. I have equally had the opportunity to interact with fellow Umuigbo from different parts of Igboland. My contributions on treads about Igboland is laced with historical facts you can't find on goggle. I bring it from the source - the street! |
For over 5 years under Jonathan, Nigeria sold about 700 million barrels of crude oil annually at the average of $80 a barrel. Can you ask Jonathan where are the billions of dollars? This should be the most important question for Mr Jonathan. |
Col. Gideon Okar and his daredevil colleagues obviously did not had Dimka in mind when they tried to ouster the corrupt evil-genius called Babangida in April 1990. Unfortunately, those young middle rank officers fate was like Dimkas. |
Men from Afikpo/Oha-Ozara area are as Randy as Hip-Hop artists. Had some friends from there during my secondary school days. They were often after beauties from Obe and Awkunanaw girls, some even went gunning for young ladies in local markets at Gariki area of Enugu. The boys looked timid though. |
Afikpo was headquarter of old Afikpo LGA of Imo state; likewise Isu as the headquarter of Oha-Ozara LGA of old Imo state. Both old LGAs are in present Ebonyi state. Women from that area are mostly tall, black and beautiful like Senegalese or Gambia women. The women from that area are less conservative. |

How can you remember all these legends...[/quote
