Frankly, the most attractive thing about the Anambra- born writer is her beautiful hairstyle. In this photo, she looks more like Nelly Uchendu, or Theresa Onuora of Egedege Unubi. The only thing missing is her Jigida - perhaps she is wearing some. Beautiful image of Igbowoman of the 80's!! Ada Mmadu Dalu!! |
Hopefully, this new attention on Nigeria will change Wall Street''s mindset about our country. Their usual image of " Nigerian Prince" businessmen makes it difficult for American investors to trust Nigerians. I use to wonder why a famous talk show host Jay Leno, like using that connotation when joking about Nigeria. For many Americans, letters about millions of dollars begging for a collector are often from those princes somewhere in Nigeria. It's time to start correcting such erroneous image of Nigeria, which is undoubtedly hampering much needed foreign investment in other sectors of the economy, than in oil and gas explorations. |
Politicians all over the world know how to enjoy the freshest apples. |
The Hardel and Enick man is our own Larry King. He just added a few more years to his life. Enjoy, Iwuanyawu Nationale!! |
From my understanding, Enugu state government has leased the place to a foreign company that wants to build a Shoprite- like mall there. For over almost two years now, the affected shop owners where informed about the state government's plan. They were also advised to look for shops elsewhere. I believe what the state government should do is to compensate those affected by the demolition. An alternative motor park should also be provided. |
For those screaming hell, Old Park was never meant as a market with dozens of shops, but as a motor park for vehicles. It was during the decades long decay of Enugu Urban that people started erecting shops there. Nevertheless, the state government should help those affected relocate to New Market where many empty shops are available. |
The fact is that America does not need Putin's advice in foreign policy. America' s interest is paramount, and allowing rogue regimes use banned weapons with impunity is dangerous for the whole world. The former KGB chief should try something else. His dismally human right records even makes his preachings ironic. |
Mr minister, have you forgotten Project Development Institute, PRODA at Enugu? If the minister is serious he needs to revamp that institute by injecting more funds, so that more people can be trained there. Such funds can also help for more projects and further development of already approved prototypes. We often hear about government's interest in opening new establishments without providing funds for ones established decades ago. It's definitely not the way a serious country goes in it's quest for advancement in technologies. |
During my good old Nigeria years, they were John Momoh, Sienna Allwell-Brown and late Tokunbo Ajayi. And on NTA channel 6 Aba was Grace Onyema. NTA channel 8 Enugu - Kilian Umeayo. Sweet 9ja years! ![]() |
Eifeh: we have two new stations Solid fm and Dream fm, dream fm is the oga at the topWhere are these radio stations located in Enugu? |
ACM10: Yes of course!Well, i use to like Cool FM in Lagos when it was newly opened. Though my all time favorite still remains Radio Rivers 2, it was so famous that people use to visit Port Harcourt just to feel the station's vibes and voices. Luckily, i lived in Enyimba city where the station was as clear as it was in Port Harcourt. |
History lesson : Enugu was the second city in Nigeria to get an FM radio station, after Port Harcourt the home of the then famous Radio Rivers 2 FM Stereo, on 99.128 MHZ. Some years later Lagos got Ray Power FM. |
Another announcer would tease Miss Iwobi to predict the outcome of Saturday's match between Rangers International and Iwuanyawu Nationale at Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium. Coal City is it! ![]() |
Is there any new good radio station in Coal city? Anytime i'm in Enugu i miss the good old days of Sunrise 96.1 FM. I miss those fine hours of good music and great radio voices such as " Mr C" Chuzzy Iboko, Ikechukwu Agu, Mike Anene, Gbuliwe Iwobi and Rosemary Azinge. "Welome to Saturday night jam, my name is Mr. C , i'll keep you thrilled through the night with great music. And now, let's get down with Miss Tina Turner; she 's asking " What's love got to...." Coal City Rocks! ![]() |
24/7 of electricity will surely bring back good business and fun times back to Enyimba city. As Ghanaian Highlife musicians used to say in the 80s "Enyimba na Aba oh". |
joeluv: Obiagu/ Onuasata Roundabout : StoneBase activity in progress..It seems Obiagu Rd is finally getting the attention it deserves. When i was in Enugu about a year ago, i noticed reconstruction works on some streets at New-Layout area. |
Abagworo: It gives me joy seeing solid buildings under construction. This secretariat and that Army 5 star hotel are encouraging.Personally, i hate the 82 Division of Nigeria Army hotel issue. We don't even need an army base at it's current Abakaliki Road abode. Those folks should be relocated along Enugu - Port Harcourt Expressway - just like the one at Obinze, Owerri. |
asha 80: don't you think it is time rural areas of enugu are faced?nsukka, awgu, igboeze etc?Sure, but because of the decade- long decay of Enugu it was pertinent to give the city profound facelift. Gov. Chime has also tried in opening up some of the state's countryside. Although much still need to be done. |
Whoever takes over from Gov. Chime must continue the man's great programmes especially on infrastructure. Next big deal for Coal City is Geometric bringing the Enyimba power project home. Enugu's future looks really bright if the current tempo of events continue. |
asha 80: abia to udi?abia as in abia state or a town known as abia in enugu? He probably meant Umuabi in Udi LGA of Enugu state. |
The new Ziks Avenue bridge looks nice. I had initially complained that the cost ( about 1.8 billion Naira) was quite high. It's dual lanes, plus the about 500m dual road which starts from Ziks Avenue railway crossing and ends at Ogui Road junction, seems ok for the price tag. |
Ifeanyi Uba is the Nnamdi Eriobuna of our time. Automobile spare- parts importer, Mr Eriobuna thought he could rule Anambra state by using his huge financial resources influence voters. Though a hawkish OMATA man, he was rejected by voters. Will the same fate befall Mr Uba, or will he become the new landlord at Awka governor's lodge? |
docokwy: Have you done your own cleansing? What we as Africans need is soul searching; asking ourselves hard questions about the connection of the slave trade with the current social- political dispensation on the continent. Is stealing African's wealth for Western banks not a form of another trans-Atlantic enslavement? |
In my opinion, African Americans need not come to Africa for whatever cleansing since Africans were equally guilty of selling their forefathers. It's a game of the mind for those who think that coming to Africa for cleansing will in anyway alter their inner feelings about slavery in America and its African root. |
docokwy: Yeah!!! If you are from the North, your ancestors did not engage in the trans-saharan slave trade. That is why the blacks of the Arab world are no longer descendants of black African slaves from the Sahel/Sahara (northern Nigeria)For clarification, i meant that the descendants of African slave sellers ought also go for cleansing if descendants of former African slaves, who were never enslaved are coming to Africa for " cleansing". Wasn't Trans - Atlantic slave trade a sin against God and humanity? |
docokwy: Yeah! Your Yoruba ancestors did not engage in slave trading. That is why Ajayi Crowther and other Yoruba slave returnees are no longer Yoruba.Dude, i am not from the ethnic group you've mentioned. |
Ironically, the descendants of Igbo slave sellers are not cleansing themselves of the iniquity committed by their ancestors against fellow Igbo people. |
A maths question : how many mosquitoes will accrue each Lagos resident if all the mosquitoes in the city are shared amongst them? 100, 250 each? Answers please.... ![]() |
If it works as anticipated, it could well help millions of people in Lagos - a city with perhaps over 25 billion mosquitoes! |
In the 80s Nigeria, tasteful fishes in our markets were from Oron and Maiduguri. For some years now Nigeria imports fish from Costa Rica, including my favorite tilapia. The imported ones tastes different from the local freshwater fish from the towns i mentioned above. Putting a stop to such imports will boost local fishery industry again. Stockfish should be the only exemption from import prohibition. |
