aryzgreat: Gbam! Hero tastes better than star, premier and 33.The brand is new and i believe that's the reason behind its success so far. PAL beer, Champion and Dubic beers were sometime ago like that. Personally, i love good palmwine any day. Health- wise pammy is better and helps sustain more local population. Though, goodluck to Hero brewers! |
Garri the 1st: Why are the Mods promoting Idol worship by allowing a thread like this in this section??Niggar, is masquerading idol worship? Come to Cologne ( Germany) next month, thousands of masquerades will attend the city's famous carnival. It's only in Africa that folks like you see every tradition as idol worship. Europeans you're coping also do masquerading. |
chino11: Ezi okwu..?I always tell the truth about my town. I'm sure i know what's up in greater Aguata more than you. Afterall, Nkpokiti Umunze performed during my brother's wedding in our town - some years ago though ![]() |
The last three masquerades are the type i expect from the area where big traditionalists like Afam Ogbotobo, Morocco Nwammaduka and Ozoemena Nsugbe hails. As Perikomo would say, " Asokwa Sojaah"! |
chino11: More of Aguleri Masquerade Festival..Nwa Uga, you're now showing the real masquerades. We have a similar one like the one above ( Ugwudike) in my village. |
I was hoping to see the big scaring masquerades - Ijele, Okpoma, Ogbangbada, etc . These are kids masquerades, which looks more like the ones in Rivers state. When did Igbo masquerades start displaying bare feet to women and uninitiated people? Perikomo is certainly not amused! |
Afam4eva: I don't think Okwy or Nnia or anyone in the Nwodo family are interested in governing Enugu as they're too old for that. I think they just want to godfather someone and i think that has to be nipped in the bud. I heard that one Ahamadike, kenneth Okonwo's brother is a likely choice.I was referring to Okwesilieze's governorship days of 1992 in old Anambra state. It's a memory lane recount ![]() |
We don't need an Okwesilieze Nwodo, who was confused for months as governor. He was more addicted to his favorite Bally shoes than caring for the state's needs. Neither do we need a Jim Nwobodo, who was more interested in parties with Queen's School beauties than constructing roads in his LGA. |
cashkid18: the next gov of Enugu wil b cuming frm Nsukka zone according to chime n i hope dt cums to reality.i trust my pple, wit dis type of chime's performance d next gov wil see dt as a challenge n wil wrk hard to surpass chime's achievementI sincerely hope that Nsukka area presents someone who lives and knows Enugu state very well, as a replacement for Gov. Chime. Personally, i believe this singular factor makes Chime's governance style unique. An "imported" candidate from Lagos or Abuja will be a disaster for the state. |
eaglechild: Got into Enugu and was shocked at the number of super luxury cars I saw, i'm talking rolls Royce phantoms, Bentley continental, Porsche panamera etc.All those fine cars are evidence of new monies and good road network. It's just the beginning. I can't wait to join the new Coal City yuppies, very soon. |
Nothing beat Ofeakwu with Abakaliki rice! It's better than having an orgasmm! ![]() |
Well, it's now balanced - Ikemba married an Udi beauty ( Bianca Onoh), now, a prominent Udi youngster has snatched an Anaedo beauty! You know what just came to my mind? That beautiful song from Nelly Uchendu - Oburu mgbe nwanne n'anu nwanne, onuru anwuri nwa.... Igbo ga ekwulu goo oh, ... Happy marriage to the couple sha! |
Odenigbo Aroli: Oh,shut da fuq up, you blinded bigot! Enugu state with all the infrastructure they got after state creation hasn't been able to develop pass coal city, yet you have the effrontry to cast aspersions on Anambra, which was nothing but a squalor eight years ago. God will keep exposing your wicked mind!Hey Shorty, it's snowing in the East Coast. What're you doing here now? Go do the snowman man work. ![]() |
Bringing all the state's ministries under one roof will ensure better productivity and control. A very nice idea from Gov. Chime. |
IKEMBA NNEWI: Did anyone else notice that that road is without markings?? If that road was in Anambra now, most of you would have come to spew gibberish on how Peter Obi is a 'Mediocre'? And nobody should bring that lame excuse of ''it's not yet completed'' cos the topic reads that it's been commissioned! The norm in Enugu is that road markings are usually done after the main road contractor has vacated the site. I think it's due to the fact that the marking contract is done by a different company. I noticed such markings at New - Layout and Independence - Layout sometime ago- a few weeks after the actual construction was finished. They should also be remarking the lanes every 18 months. |
Stephen Okechukwu Keshi also needs in his current team a Sunday Eboigbe and a Bright Omokaro for our defence. Eagles defence must be tight! |
A legalization could trigger more Nigerians into riding Okada with calabash on head as helmets ![]() |
Legalize it and many Nigerian men will turn to Klaus Mgbeojikwe and Jegede Shokoya; while the girs will turn to Lil'l Kim and Foxy Brown! ![]() |
BlackBerry just made over $4 billion loss . Can such a company with less than 5% market share of smartphones sales in developed economies survive its misfortune? |
When one remembers all the missed opportunities in our country since 1960, one might not be wrong to consider Nigeria as one massive Ponzi scheme. It's fraudulently dehumanizing seeing how a gang of elitist mafia cornered the country's wealth at the detriment of the suffering masses. |
what they speak in ebonyi is not a dialect. It's a language quite very different from igbo. I'm from Imo. And when I go home I tune FM of different igbo states - abia , anambra, enugu and imo and I understand all they say. But once I made d mistake of tuning that of abakiliki and I regretted my life. Ebonyi people speak more of calabar than igbo. Ok state the ebonyi words for cup, plate, spoon, love-making, bottle and compare them with the ones of central igbo. Ebonyi people are bush men joor. Are they not the ones that litter my village and help us in farming and cutting palm kernel?
Igbo is the language spoken in 5 Igbo states of Nigeria. If you disagree, you're on your own. Do you understand dialects of people in Arochukwu/ Bende area of Abia state? |
If ebonyi people are igbos, how comes no igbo man can ever understanding their igbo except themselves? I have been with many afikpo and amasiri people a lot and they talk for hours without me understanding a word they are speaking. While accents of IMO and anambra people differ on things like "ihe/ife" ebonyi people have entirely different names for every object and action like cup, spoon, bath, love making, practically everything.
If you're an Igboman, you should be ashamed for making the above statement. Like in other languages in the world, Igbo language has many dialects. Being that as it is, such differences in dialect can not question the Igboness of any particular area in Igboland. Your poor understanding of dialects in Igboland does not mean that perhaps, a thousand people from your community will not comprehend words or sentences in some Ebonyi Igbo dialects. |
Odenigbo Aroli: Guy,this isn't a fight. Grow up,nigguh!Dude, Gov. Chime has been doing his best by using the little money available prudently to position Enugu state for the future. The next governor will definitely continue by paying more attention to Nsukka town. Chime has also been able to construct new rural roads. I don't see anything wrong in Enugu having only a city, but also a developed town in Nsukka. There are also a one city states in other federations, like the states of Hamburg and Saarland in Germany. A state most not always be about cities, but about green rural areas as well. We in Enugu are not trying to be like Anambra state. We are unique in our own ways! Countering your dubious assertions about my state isn't picking up fight with you, but putting things in perspective. |
Odenigbo Aroli: Its funny you are saying Abakaliki was neglected during the old Anambra era but when we say Peter Obi is trying to develop every town simulteniously in Anambra you object and want him to focus on Awka,Onitsha and Nnewi. Most Enugu town is currently going through the same degree of porverty that once prevailed in Ebonyi. Thanks to Chime for focusing on Enugu city! There has never been more duplexes built in Enugu rural areas than over the last ten years. Most Enugus's former servants of old Nnewi spare parts tycoons are importers now. From Nkanu to Ezeagu, Agwu to Nsukka, Enugu's young entrepreneurs are waxing strong. In my town, we have heavyweights in Electrical parts and Aluminum business. Evidence of big new monies are abound in some rural communities of Enugu. I don't blame you, keeping on hiding your arzz in USA, while folks are making progress in Coal City state. |
nijanigga: Empty barrel estimates, do you know that by 2020 the kinds of food we will consuming will change?Sure, you will be eating only Chinese food, including vultures then! Kid, it's noon already, have you taken your akamu today? |
Ebonyi state is always on my mind. I love the taste of farm products from the state. Be it yam or rice Abakaliki ( as we call them in Igboland), their taste is always unique. The green state is to Nigeria what Congo DR is to the world - its agriculture potential could be worth over $100 billion over decades. Its mineral deposits are unrivaled in Igboland. Watch out for Ebonyi's future! |
Our folks may not recognize aliens when they are in town. That would even be a much more scary scenario. |
Chai!! Ne kwa Nwenem. Orie Akpugo all day bro. A bum Ihuokpara. Nwene ekene mu gu. I hope the Christmas celebration is in full swing at your side. Anyway Akpugo never disappoints. Your love for the Coal City and the entire Enugu State/ Anigbo is something i cherish so much. More grease.
Appreciations. I love Anigbo, and hates when some folks come here to tell lies against any part of Igboland. We have challenges in our culture, but it doesn't make us the worst of the pack. Unfortunately, i'm not in Akpugo now to enjoy palmwine. Cold and snows are my neighbours presently. Ihuokpara is a sister town. I remember Ihuokpara's famous son, Okechukwu Okereke of the blessed memory. |
Nwanne forget that guy. He seems very confused. Just ignore him. So Nightshift i bu Nwa ama Nkanu? Nkanu ogbuzulu ogbuzulu!! That's really nice. Nde ka akuku ishi na Nkanu? If i may ask.
Egwu Ogene ka m na-agba kitaa. Nwa Akpugo ka m bu. Ekene m gi oh! ![]() |
@EMMAUGOH, how can an Igbo village or town be imitating an Igbo culture? Disputes of wrongfully awarded tittles are in many Igbo states not just in Enugu. In Nkanu area, we aren't imitating anyone; my folks are still doing their Iri ji festivals the old way, dance to Igede and Okanga traditional music. Enjoy our Egwu Okene, produce the most dreadful masquerades in Igboland. Which imitation are you talking about? Ever listen to Osili's Osondi Owendi? |
Here we go again with this rubbish. Can you decidedly point to any impact these coscharis and capital oil whatever, have made in their communities? Any tangible impact please? My guess is as good as yours, none. So this trend of always mentioning names whose whatever achievement is not yours should have been dead in the 90's. The world has outgrown that rubbish. Show me what you as an entity has achieved and quit boring people with endless list of individuals who have added no value to your life or their communities. Secondly this whole idea of always criticising anything done by your sister state Enugu has got to cease. It is appalling and degrading. If you do not agree with their acts, state your criticism constructively and move on. Do not bore us with your superiority mumbo jumbo in upholding Igbo culture. While i disagree with conferring titles unnecessarily, you and i are not in the position to tell why this particular community gave them those titles. Just disagree and face your front. Afterall, Anambra is known to confer the most useless and frivolous titles to the most dubious and pathetic people. We haven't forgotten the 90's when every criminal was a chief.
. Just to add something : Igbo film industry actually started in Enugu. Anayo Anayo, Pete Edochie, Bob-Manuel Udokwu etc , started their career in Coal City. Any Enugu town or village is free to confer tittle on any Igbo film star. One day Obosi may deem it good to confer one on her son. Didn't Zebrudaya ( Chika Okpala) get one in Nnobi Idemili. Is Nnobi in planet Mercury? |
Listening to great Jazz music + some good palmwine. Oh i nearly forgot - doing a 200km+ per hour on German Autobahn .... in a BMW! |
