Ich liebe dich: I've been in Enugu for the past 3 weeks and i most confess the city is BEAUTIFULI thought you've been living in Köln all these months ![]() |
adaobi123: I'll be in Enugu next weekAll those 'Okpa' you missed will be begging for your stomach's attention. Enjoy! ![]() |
Enugu is not empty as some folks are insinuating. Recently while i was in Coal City, i noticed some little increase in the city's population. I equally noticed more vehicles on roads that were 2-3 years ago less busy in traffic. I was told that thousands of Igbo returnees from the North swelled Enugu's population. Enugu is a nice place to enjoy retirement. A visit to GRA, Independence Layout and some parts of Trans- Ekulu will avail one the chance of seeing retired Igbo professionals enjoying life. More houses are needed, no doubt, but over population will kill the joy of the city for most people. |
In other words : Ikemba, Akpinor and Ozidi King. Great folks of their time! We remember your footprints on planet earth!!! |
A few weeks ago, i passed through what i would describe as a bakery oven at passenger screening hall of the airport. The AC was perhaps faulty and there was no fan in the hall. I equally noticed some immigration officials laughing at some passengers who were visibly overwhelmed by the heat. Are some people that insensitive to such a national disgrace? |
A Great African, Nelson Mandela has joined the angels of peace! Instead of selling his people for a few bottles of whisky, he fought the enemy with an unwavering moral convictions. May God welcome him in his kingdom! |
My take : send it to some Japanese men to smell for $50 a piece, and wash it after when they repost it to you. ![]() |
It's a mafia world, folks! |
ogologodimkpa: The cry of a looserYour village is also like Geneva! Which village, Nne? Back to topic, Nigeria governors are fond of going to Europe to "seek" investors, while what most of them actually do is to stash more stolen money in Swiss, Luxembourg and Lichtenstein banks. If they ( the governors) provide the necessary infrastructures and stop stealing, investors will be coming to Nigeria in droves without invitation. As we say in Igbo, only beautiful flowers attract bees. |
Shina Peters is a Nigeria Original, his brand of music represents his culture and people. I will chose such a musician's music over the current nonsense music from ' Bumper To Bumper' generation of Nigerian musicians. Shina Peters and Adewale Ayuba are from glorious Lagos yuppies of the 90s. One Love.... |
omanzo02: The highway interchange in the picture was rehabilitated with 40 million euro's ( 8.4 billion naira), one thing u have to know is that quotation for road contruction is different from going to the market to buy rice or beans, there are factors than pushes the prices up, the price/quotation is usually in hard currency I guess. Are you using the sub-standard Nigerian Highways(?) as a comparison to the Autobahns in Belgium or Germany? Nigeria has no standard for road construction, Trunk A roads or our so-called expressways! Roads with no lane markings or highways without shoulders are thrown to Nigerians and the safety implications are seen everyday on our roads. |
The two brothers should eschew bitterness and unite for Nike's development. Personally, i believe that Nike is yet to use its potentials for further development. That town should be better than it currently is. Driving through Nchatancha and Akpuoga communities in Nike, one wonders why streets there are left in such a terrible condition. Emene town has only one stretch of another eyesore road. Frankly, could it not be possible that due to the bitter village politics in Nike, they have not been able to influence Chime's administration to pay more attention to inner roads in Nike town? As a believer in democratic principles, i also think that Nike people should look beyond one family for leadership. Nowhere in Igboland is a feudal system practiced, neither will it be foisted on the people now. A town or community can only develop if it's united. |
Governor Chime seems more interested in seeing someone else in Lion House Enugu, than the business mogul. It makes politics in the Coal City State even more interesting. My ears are waiting to hear the various candidate's programmes for the state. One thing is clear though: Enugu people will vote for someone that will continue the good works of the present governor. A prudent and pragmatic candidate will get my vote. |
He should try and bring Udoji United FC back to life as well. Nice step, opportunity for Onitsha youngsters who love football to train in a standard football pitch. |
May God forgive the remorseful governor! And for the woman, time to invest her money wisely. God has many ways of answering prayers! She must avoid " vultures", who might promise to help her invest the money. |
Nigeria's North East is gradually turning to Somalia. It seems the Boko terrorists are becoming tougher like Taliban. |
That masquerade must be a lesbian one. She can't try it with Inyinya-Agbaoku from Umuatugbaoma, Awkunanaw; it's perhaps the most dreadful masquerade in Igboland. |
As a very very proud nwa Enugu, the signs i saw recently in the Coal City state shows me that the great lion is gradually waking up from its slumber. Driving along Enugu - Abakaliki road at Emene, i saw dozens of new warehouses and factories springing up on the two sides of the road. Next year, the new aluminum coil factory from Alo Aluminum (my homeboy), will start production at its multi- billion Naira facility near Innoson's plastic company. Big farm settlements are also coming up in Agwu and Uzo Uwani areas. Huge limestone deposit at Amechi-Idodo is equally waiting for investors. Packaging and exportation of our highly acclaimed organic cashew nuts will be the next big bang. From 9th mile to Emene, Agwu to Uzo-Uwani and Isi Uzo, the future of my green state is bright. As i often say ' Enugu Akwulugo!! |
The US deportation camp looks pretty much like the one near Zurich Airport in Switzerland ![]() |
Which 96 communities in Enugu have no electricity? Hallo! I thought the state government have spent billions of Naira over the last decade for provision of electricity to rural communities. Someone is not telling the truth here ![]() 68 billion Naira only for rural electrification in Coal city state? Another loan the state taxpayers will definitely repay someday with unknown interest rate. |
I hope the slum dwellers fight those greedy land thieves , who often see nothing wrong in rendering poor folks homeless through the law courts. The disheartening fate of former Marokko dwellers in the hands of military dictator Col. Raji Rasaki, is still fresh in the memory of many people in Lagos. |
It's quite unfortunate that Enugu - Onitsha (Expressway?) has been under reconstruction for over 5 years now. For goodness sake, that road used to be the best road in the South East. Onitsha end from old toll-gate is completed, but from there to Enugu is a bumpy ride on 90% one lane that would make one wonder if such a "highway" isn't more than a national disgrace. Difficult to believe that during the good old days, folks needed just about 40 minutes to be in Enugu from Upper Iweka. Moreover, the fact that the Milken hill part of the contract doesn't include a 2 metre shoulder expansion, makes it dangerous for smaller vehicles behind slow rolling trucks. It's embarrassing how we ignore little things that could save life. |
During my recent trip to Nigeria, someone wrote a long article in one of the newspapers i bought about the famous Lagos state's BRT buses. The author wrote that inside the buses, it is clearly written that "preaching and fighting are prohibited". These lines, especially the no fighting warning really got me laughing unstoppable for some minutes. Where else in the world would people be officially warned not to fight in public buses? Lagos is a city where it seems some folks wake up in the morning looking for someone to fight. Nigeria is unique in many funny ways! |
The OP's story seems like a classic from James's Hardly Chase. A vivid eye opener for Africans at home about black man's life in modern Europe. Enugu people still remains one of the most influential people in Igboland ; they have equally shown that they aren't less savvy than other Igbo people. Übrigens, Zubby, i think Deutsche Bahn's ICE means Inter- City Express. Quite a thought provoking piece.... |
Time to enjoy Bavarian beer, Meckatzer! Prost!! ![]() |
My €250 bet on Bayern München is in safe hand. Tipico, where my money @? ![]() |
Ich liebe dich: Talk abt a cat with nine lifesIch liebe Dich auch! No offence meant, just find your moniker hilarious ![]() |
After loosing about €750 due to Chelsea' s home loss to Basel, i can only say that English league teams suck big time this season. Thanks to Arsenal for keeping my betting hope alive. Liverpool looks more solid than the arrogant ManU. #Team Bundesliga# - where the big games @! |
yes am fr there, why would u say he is nt a good man. Sorry bro cant write ibo, am born n bred in d north
But can you write Hausa? If yes, i can only say enwu ata m igu na isi. Ga ka akuzieri gi asusu Igbo osiso! I hope you will not be talking to your Umunna in Hausa when you return to Osumenyi. I can only shake my head in disbelief. |
Mr. Okonkwo really touched bones with his beautiful assessment of these two different political cultures. A Nigeria politicians tick skin prevents most of them from reasoning like their Western counterparts. A president is elected to lead, not follow from behind. Neither do people who elected you expect excuses for non performance. A few days ago, Mrs Angela Merkel ( few people outside Germany know she has a P.hD in physics) was handsomely rewarded by German voters, for showing leadership during Europe's most difficult economic crisis since Euro zone's birth. Although she was named every possible things by those who were hurt by measures she proposed for Greece and other sick countried of Euro zone, she nevertheless believed she was doing the right thing. Leadership comes from within, not from outside. President Obama's tough decisions during the global economic meltdown equally gave him his current second term. What Nigeria needs is a president that can steer the country through the rough roads. |
Who amongst all the Sisi Eko on NL would like to have such a beautiful hairstyle like Chimamnda? It wouldn't make anyone look local, but more refined African beauty. Such an hairstyle is more beautiful than all the fake Brazilian hairs you've ever bought. Girls, go back to your roots; osiso, oya! |
