Lies.

If Gboko was the capital of old eastern region even Zik would have sighted UNN there.

If Ogoja was the capital of the then eastern region Ojukwu would have had a house there too.

If Nkalagu were to capital of the eastern region Ekwueme as a former VP would seen it as his constituency prior to the creation of Anambra and Enugu.

It has nothing to do with Enugu but it has everything to do with the fact that Anambra and Enugu were sharing one state then and their capital was in Enugu. It is natural that more people will tend to live in the capital at least for anyone who can afford it then.

If Asaba or Onitsha were to be capital of the region then it won't be different.

You know what? Try meet one of those 75+ years Igbomen who have lived in Enugu over 50 years and ask him why he decided to live in Enugu that long. Spiritual here has many connotations, it's not about church buildings.

Enugu is like a spiritual place in the hearts of many great Igbo sons and daughters. Have you ever wondered why Owelle Nnamdi Azikiwe was spiritually connected to Enugu? How and why Ikemba decided to live there till the end? Yes,, Chief Alex Ekwueme lived and aged gracefully in Enugu. Or why Arthur '1000' is 042 in and outside?

Do you know why Igbo business billionaires like Innoson, Alo Aluminum CEO, Juhel CEO and Anbeez CEO chose Enugu as their homes? What made all big Igbo politicians of all ages own homes in Enugu? Just as ancient Egyptians were in tune with the pyramids, so are many Igbos spiritually connected to Enugu. Enugu is more than a state! Some of you may understand this now or perhaps later in your life. Ekwusigom!

Why is Ken's shoes so long?
Do you want him to put on Mauri or Maseratti shoes?

Ex governor Okwesilieze Nwodo had dozens of Bally shoes then, but he was a miserable governor.

My take on this: Gburugburu just started to open Enugu state's rural areas with some new asphalt roads. I would like him to continue his good works by getting another 4 year mandate from Ndi Enugu.

Apart from the maintenance of the existing roads in Enugu municipality, i would like him to build a new flyover at Abakpa junction. Enugu state should not wait for federal government on that. The city is growing and so should the city's infrastructure. I like the job he did at New market end of the expressway exit.

shocked

Both men do not only share the same first name, they also do not have a political future in Enugu State.
Ken's political clout is gone.
The days of 'Onwa n'etili ora' are sadly over.

"Andy" has shown he has nothing to offer if he has already started out his political career kneeling for godfathers.

He should know that Enugu indigenes are not swayed by his celebrity status neither will they be gullible to make the same mistake Bishop Mike Okonkwo made with him.

On Ugwuanyi's government: My observation is that the governor is completely focused elsewhere. He seems to be interested in opening up Enugu's rural areas, although he has been very slow in that aspect.

People in some towns like Amurri, Amechi-Idodo, etc., which had until recently dusty primitive roads can now courtesy of Ugwuanyi drive or walk on a few kilometers of asphalt road. Quality of such roads are poor, but it's better than nothing. He also played a role in getting federal government restart rehabilitation of Ozalla - Agbani - Amagunze road.

He has also rebuilt some street roads in Trans-Ekulu and Abakpa-Nike areas, which were abandoned during Chime's tenure. Recently, he has been doing well in patching damaged potions of roads in Enugu municipality. He expanded traffic lights coverage of necessary junctions. I would like to see more lane-markings on the roads in order to maintain the evolving driving culture in 042.

Investing heavily in Nsukka town is a plus for him but he also need a signature infrastructure in Enugu metropolis. A new flyover at Abakpa junction wouldn't be bad at all. I will give dude 60% performance rating. He isn't owning state civil servants.

Ndigbo will be willing to pay extra taxes or levies for the development of Igboland. In my opinion, the pertinent question to ask is how will the money be managed or spent? Are we going to allow our politicians to have a say on how or where the monies will be spent? Are will going to invite JP Morgan or Deutsche Bank help us come up with a blueprint on how to invest the money? Will it be spent on reviving industries like Nigercem, Enugu coal mines, a new port at Onitsha, industrial park in Aba? Or on expansion of road and rail networks in Igboland, power plants and more research institutes like PRODA? Dozens of questions need to be asked and reasonable answers provided.

Sometime ago in the 80s, during Rtd. Major General Ike Nwachukwu's tenure as military governor of Imo State, there was something similar called 'Survival Levy'. Imo State citizens and adults living in the state were required to pay a stipulated amount of money every year for the development of the state. Some part of the money was said to have been used in laying the foundation of the current Sam Mbakwe Airport Owerri. The rest was creamed-off by our ever insatiable politicians/civil servants. Nobody in old Imo State will today say how much money was received by the government or how it was spent.

Any taxes or levies for the development of Igboland could go the same as the example above, unless an internationally recognized firm is mandated to house, supervise and coordinate how such monies were to be disbursed. We need to learn how USA's Marshall plan was used to rebuild infrastructures and reposition German industries after the second world war. Strong economies aren't built on emotions only, but by long years of meticulous plans and incredible hard work.

Prince Nico Mbarga was one of Nigeria's original. His type of Highlife music influenced a group like Ikenga Super Stars of Africa.

I remember listening to his vibes on Tempos In Highlife on ABS Radio 1 Enugu during the 80s.

During my visit to my beloved Coal City this rainy season, i found that some parts of Milken Hill over Coal Camp is developing 'bald head'. It seems some kind of evil people are building houses indiscriminately on top and beneath the hill.

A nasty scenario of mudslide and landslide that could bury the entire Coal Camp area is the likely consequence of such indiscriminate vandalism of the iconic Coal City landmark.

As an environmentalist and a stakeholder in this beautiful city, i call on the authorities of Enugu State government to make sure that landgrabers and their agents are not allowed to destroy the beautiful green hill or endanger people's lives. The history of Coal City is engraved on that hill!!

Excellent! Then be proud of being called Wawa. I don't know why some of you take it as an insult. An Ngwa man is also igbo but he proudly identifies himself as Ngwa.
Chinchi, we have always been very proud of our heritage. We actually wanted our state to be called Wawa State, but the AFRC named us Enugu State instead. The original request for state creation submitted by Chief C. C. Onoh( God bless his soul)was not for Enugu state.

How could you have known? You were likely a toddler at Okpoko Onitsha, when the coal city state was created! You also, in your poisoned mind, never imagined Wawa as names in other countries. Well, i 'm here to always buttress my points with historical facts and profound analysis, all anchored in truth.
