Odenigbo Aroli: Oge Okoye is an Anaedo(Nnewi) babe. So,I don't know the relationship between Oge and Amoli.
. Something must have triggered the little town to consider them for tittles.

I hope your town has also given one to my favorite, Theresa Ofoje? Onu Okwa 1 of Umuoji! grin

Afam4eva: I saw Mr Ibu in my village some years back and i thought he was from Amaechi or a neigbouring village. Where's this Ihe located? Is it in Nkanu?
. Ihe is in Agwu LGA.
CelebritiesRe: Chika Ike & Oge Okoye Given Chieftancy Titles In Enugu by Nightshift(m):
ZUBY77: Amoli is two minutes drive from my village. There is nothing like Amoli kingdom. Their Igwe drives an Okada, save for the newly distributed hyundai cars by Gov Chime. They got Chieftancy titles for kissing men in movies. These shameless actors wont stop buying their ways into poor peoples minds. What did they come to do there? It will help us to determine why the titles were given. People may think that i am being extreme at critisizing them but what contributions did they make to the Amoli community? Amoli is among the worst communities in Awgu, no roads, no water, no electricity and they have chief among women. I wish i was there, i wold have critisized them publicly.
The reason for the titles could be for making their little town proud. Personally, i wouldn't have known they are from Amoli.

Wasn't Chika Okpala ( aka Zebrudaya) given a tittle as ' Onunaekuru Ora 1 of Nnobi sometime ago, for his contributions to his town's development? The late John Chukwu ( the governor), owner of " Nightshift" club in Lagos in early 90s also made Ihe or Agwu areas popular amongst Lagos yuppies then.
Although titles in Igboland has become available to most highest bidders, i don't think that Amoli town has done what other towns in Anigbo have not done before.

I bet the next tittle will be Mr. Ibu's for making Ihe proud as well grin

Odenigbo Aroli: I'm vexed at this act. And did anybody notice how the king was greeting Chika Ike the Nze na Ozo way. Believe it or not such will never go down in Omanbala. This is a complete mockery and bastardization of the culture laid down by Eri/Nri. Not even the female royal class(umu-nwanyi Odu/Omu) dare greet the king the way Chika Ike just did! Nonsense!
Tell that to kids here. Which state in Anigbo are people more likely to use money to buy chieftancy title? Was John Nnebolisa, a well known mafia boss, crowned in Jupiter?
Nightshift, I will go slightly off topic for a moment as this thread is 'Enugu, the pride of the East' but I could not fail to notice that you mentioned that the first Igbo Inspector General of Police(Onovo) after the civil war was from Nkanu. Correction, the first ethnic Igbo IG was Mike Okiro from Egbema in Rivers State. Egbema was in the Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta LGA of the old East Central State. New states were created in 1976 and Egbema was in the new IMO STATE. However, there was a boundary adjustment exercise and Egbema which is an oil producing area was taken from Imo State and given to RIVERS STATE. We are all IGBO and these military made boundaries should not divide us. Cheers.
I understand your point. Well, the popular view was what i presented in my initial take. Such popular views could change the day Ikwerre and other Igbos in the Niger-Delta accept their Igboness.

ketoprofen: Which agbaede? which ndiagu?
My dear, mass electrification in these places occurred during chimarokes tenure.
If u said they were connected in the 80s, I don't have the capacity to argue that one but bfr 1999, we used gen. So also our neighbors.
When chimaroke came in, we saw light and everybody started wiring .
Nwanne Mmadu, the fact is that before Nnamani some villages were already having electricity in our town from NEPA. Due to stolen transformers, it wasn't possible until after some years when they were replaced. For example, a transformer opposite NAS compound ( Amekeani)was working before thieves made away with it. In Ndiagu, Gabriel Nnaji ( Nwaebiem) got one installed in front of his compound as well. All these were happening between 1988 -1990.
It could be that those stolen transformers were replaced during Nnamani's tenure. Afterall, he had many rich Akpugo businessmen backing him both financially and otherwise during the campaign months.

What you're claiming here is somewhat an insult to Akpugo sons and daughters who made sure that Jim Nwobodo extended the first phase of then Anambra state rural electrification programme to Akpugo,
All the accurate detailed history of events shows that my version of events are not fabricated.

The issue of stolen transformers and cables were rampant in Igboland between late 80s and early 90s. Some villages in other states have not been lucky until recently before getting some replacement.

I love history and if you go through my postings on this thread, you will find out that my arguments are often laced with historical facts. How could a town that produced Nwobodo Rangers, two military governors, a former GOC and the first Igbo IG after the civil war, gotten electricity only during Nnamani's administration?

I bet the Ukrainian can speak and write better Igbo than those funny "Lagos Igbos" , who are often proud to tell how they were born in Lagos but hardly speak Igbo. The shameless ones are even more proud to remind one about their fluency in Yoruba. Quite unfortunate....

ketoprofen: My dear, I don't know what u mean by national grid of 80s.
All I know is that we started having electricity in akpugo, during chimaroke first tenure
my dad and neighbours came back to the village to do mass wiring .
Chimaroke did it for me biko
Connected to national grid means having electricity from NEPA powerlines.
I think your father will be able to explain to you better how and when communities in Akpugo got electricity, or perhaps how yours got its own. You were certainly a kid in the 80s when we got ours in Orie Mba, Agbaede, O' eji Ndiagu areas.
I assume you're from somewhere in Ndiuno and knows little about other communities in our vast Akpugo. Take a trip around the 8 communities and avail yourself a chance of learning about individual infrastructural initiatives. Cheers!

ketoprofen: My dear, chimaroke is the best thing that happened to nkanu ppls.
quote me any where
Perhaps for the people of Agbani. Nkanu is made up over a dozen towns, and from my last count , many of these towns have no single road built by Chimaroke. Take Amurri for example, he didn't care to extend ESUTH roads a few kilometers into the town. Amagunze, Ihuokpara, plus the whole of Nkanu East he created have no good asphalt roads.
Nkanu's proximity to Enugu should be a big advantage, and not a reason for the kind of neglect seen in the area for some decades now. We need dozens of roads across communities in the area. If Nkanu born former governors did their homework well, why should one need to go round before getting to Agbani from Nike? They could have built roads connecting Nike , Amechi-Idodo with Amagunze or Akpugo.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 5:51pm On Dec 26, 2013
ketoprofen: was it not chimaroke that wired akpugo rural community?
Akpugo is a town with 8 communities. O'Eji Ndiuno and Ndiagu were connected to the national grid in late 80's. Obuno and Ndiagu Obuno were connected during Chime 's first term. I don't know about Obinagu / Ndiuno Uwani and other areas like Ugwuafor.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m): 5:01pm On Dec 26, 2013
Nnamani felt good doing the portion from Ozalla to his Agbani home, but did not consider it pertinent to extend it to his fellow Nkanuland people in the eastern part of the vast old LGA. Jim Nwobodo equally did same during his administration. Only Obe ( the town of his SG, Paul Egbogu) benefited from his rural electrification programme. Egbogu made sure that low-tension poles and cables were connected to all the nooks and corners of Obe. The other Nkanu communities had to buy poles and transformers, or wait for more decades before getting connected to the national grid. Jim' s government did not build any new roads anywhere in Nkanuland.
My point is that until Nkanu people in government accept that Nkanu's development is their duty, nobody else will develop the area for us. I'm happy that in my hometown Akpugo, some people have started taking individual initiatives than waiting for people who are blinded by myopic reasoning.
PoliticsRe: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by Nightshift(m):
jude2011: umu nnem na umu nnam biko nu what is wrong with the current deputy gov of our dear state, mr sunday onyebuchi. The road leading to his village is a death trap yet he can't influence the govt to construct it . The agbani-ugbawka-nara-nkerefi road is just 17km and he has less than 14 months to leave. I agree that the former gov did a lot for his home town agbani but all surrounding villages like amurri, ugbawka, akpugo, nkerefi, amagunze, nara etc did not feel the impact of having a gov from that axis. The current gov, sullivan chime even made matters worse. you may recall that a bridge collapsed recently in nkerefi which happens to be the next town after nara the home of the deputy gov. pls those of you in enugu, what do you think is the problem?
Ozalla - Agbani - Nara - Afikpo Truck B road, otherwise known as N3, stretching from Onitsha to 4 Corner is a federal road. The deputy governor can not do much than to hope that FG gives Gov. Chime permission to rebuild the road. Chime was able to reconstruct the section from 4 Corner through his hometown. Moreover, a deputy governor does not have much political leverage in today's Nigeria political setting.
The only person Gov. Chime will listen to about the condition of the road is Mrs Ifeoma Nwobodo. It seems she alone determines who gets what and how in Nkanu. But, before anybody blame the deputy governor, we should ask questions how Nkanu area arrived at its present conditions.
Nkanu people love and know how to play politics, but we never learn how to use it constructively to open up and develope our vast areas. All together Nkanu men have ruled Anambra/Enugu states for good 12years ( Jim and Chimaroke). These are enough time to use for Nkanu's development. How could Chimaroke Nnamani overlook such an important road, a vital one for his people? Afterall he got over 90% of votes twice from Nkanuland.
PoliticsRe: Peter Obi May Not Be That Bad Afterall by Nightshift(m): 11:04am On Dec 24, 2013
The yardstick for measuring a good budget should be how good its implementation is, and not how huge the budget is.

Take the FG for instance, its annual huge budgets have always been poorly implemented. I would rather be looking forward to seeing how well the implementation of this huge budget will be by the end of 2014, than clapping hands for a man that wouldn't be responsible for its dispensation. The newly elected governor will definitely show how good he his by making sure that it's not just another paper budget elsewhere in Nigeria.

Many top Nigerian politicians often behave like mafia bosses. Such a picture looks like it's from the archive of Pablo Escobar, the Colombian cartel boss of the 80s. It could as well have been a scene in Italy's deep southern city of Napoli.

I often wonder why such an ugly practice has continued till today. Perhaps the government want people to be warned that one could fall into uncovered stinking gutters cool

The worst thing about such paintings is that road marking and signs, whicht are necessary for safety and encourages driving culture are often ignored. The marked lanes are never remarked when the initial markings erase.

NNPC is perhaps the most corrupt government owned company in the world.
That company has over the decades, wasted so much money that could have brought happiness to many generations of Nigerians.
With good management, NNPC could have been a global player like Russian's Gazprom; making Nigerians proud and leading African nations in oil exploration technology. What a waste!

While growing up in Enyimba City in the 80s, Iron Tailor was a popular name. A visit to his Okigwe Rd abode would convince one that he was a master of his trade.
He made many traders at A - Line rich.

It's not just a northern problem, but a reflective indictment of Nigeria's elites. The backwardness might be more visible in the North, but where is Dubai, Abu- Dabi or Riyadh in our southern oil cities of Port Harcourt, Uyo and Warri?
We have been lacking pragmatic political leaders in Nigeria since independence, especially at the centre.

Afam4eva: It has to be managed effectively. We don't want an Onitsha or Lagos situation in Enugu. Enugu is known as a serene sity and has to remain that. Though some parts in greater Enugu can become commercialized but it should not stain the entire city. I think we have to take a cue from what is obtainable in other countries where industries, commerce, residential areas are domiciled in different places.
Nwanna a, you got it! Enugu's planners had the above in mind when they mapped- out Emene and 9th Mile as the city's industrial Layouts, thereby making the rest of the city one calm pool of water!
