^^ Dude looks like one of those white and green wearing touts at any major lagos busstop. Are you sure he didn't try to tax woodward for owo ticket? |
Kalou is\was a winger...Wijnaldum is a 10. Our first choice 10 is usually Oscar. Oscar's highest ever contribution to league cause has been 6 goals and 8 assists. Wijnaldum beat that in his 1st season, despite playing with some truly dead players and an atrocious manager. On that basis alone, Wijnaldum is already better than what we have. I like the guy not because of stats though, because numbers can deceive....What I like about him is his pace, movement, and energy...he's like a poor man's Alexis Sanchez. |

Gbola5:I admire your knowledge of the asoiaf universe. |
Akanniade:I don't think I did...and I suspect that you are the one missing my point. Your point was that the High Sparrow is secretly using the faith as a vehicle for his ambition.I don't know if you are very conversant with Nigerian politics, but the high sparrow's rise to power is very similar to Jonas' Both were initially granted power by their patrons. Both then consildated this power on a platform of populist rhetoric of transformation, intended to resonate heavily with a disenfranchised population far disconnected from the ruling class. Eventually Jonathan's message of transformation and hope would be discovered to be false...and while a similar exposure of the High Sparrow's message has yet to happen on the show, you(and many others) already believe his message to be false as well. Anyway, my point has been thus: Even taking in to consideration the idea thar the high sparrow is a charlatan, and merely using religion as a cloak for his real goal of political power, why do we not still suport him...especially as he represents the common man? It's not like the other candidates are particularly pursuing altruistic agendas in their quest for the throne. Rob Stark and the Baratheons were ready to kill and would ultimately die for a stolen mandate. Danaerys is currently destroying several cities in succession as she pursues her nakedd ambition to her grandfather's old chair. So why shouldnt the high sparrow use (false)religious fervor to his favour much in the same way the other contestants use their bloodlines and ancient sworn oaths? |
I hear city have put in a bid for aubameyang. Mehn as e dey hot... |
Akanniade:Every single character on the show craves power. Isn't that the whole point of the show? To showcase the machinations and politicking involved when chasing the ultimate prize? Danaerys goes around destroying civilisations and cultures that have stood for several years. Jon Snow and Sansa are both waging a war for a title that was stolen by their father. Why shouldn't we salute the common shoeless man, who rose from obscurity and schemed his way into the corridors of power? At least we applauded his real life analogue ![]() |
Seun:Great observation. I'm not sure why people don't seem to like the high sparrow - In a world where rulership is determined by birth rather than by merit, where absolute power is only attainable to certain bloodlines, and where people would go to extreme lengths tof achieve this power, the High Sparrow represents the common man; risen up to seize his own destiny from the undeserving, immature and incompetent Tommens of this world. Yet most people tend to identify more with Danaerys and Jon Snow or Arya. What does this say about us as people though? Are we mostly an audience of nascent dictators unconsciously waiting for a chance to conquer, subdue and murder whole cities? ![]() |
Eva finally settles. Don't think she'd be working in the industry again, buthe considering that she originally turned down a 1.2m settlement package from the club, I'm sure her new compensation would be worth it . But for realsome though, she took Chelsea to court cos Jose called her the daughter of an olosho, and the club had to pay up, meanwhile I've been collecting abuse on this forum for free. The next person to abuse me will have to speak to my lawyers. Spy360 and kagawa10 you guys better take note...you boys should be billionaires by now. |

Gbola5:Please ignore that clown. I would not invest 60+ hours into the show if I hated it. On the contrary, I absolutely love it, and Monday mornings have since become the highlight of my week. I was just voicing my opinion on the direction the show seems to be currently heading in, in the very spirit of this particular thread, and gj22 decided to make a conversation of it, which is fine by me. The clown posting obnoxious messages would be better off taking his own advice and stop reading my posts if they offend it. So please don't spare any more time on it. When it'should tired, it will take a hike, or go juggle some balls, or whatever it is that clowns do in their spare time.. |
Ben Arfa's problem isn't injury, it's a severe lack of discipline. Plus he's been tested extensively at this level and failed. He was shining in France before moving here, and its no surprise that he is shining there again- French league exactly that difficult to shine in, if you get skill for leg. I can see that things are already getting quite heated on the thread. Lemme just park somewhere and observe. All this shade and ad hominems are just tiring. |
gj22:I've already explained myself in the last paragraph. He was portrayed as being killed in action...yet didn't die. The implication of this to me is that anybody that doesn't die on screen could in theory still be alive...and it's that refusal to fully commit to a character's death that is my main gripe. Theoretically, Stanis Baratheon could still be alive as we never saw him actually die. Hodor too. That's what seems cheap to me especially when compared to other characters who were emphatically killed on screen with no remorse. |
Diggz Google Ben Arfa. I'm not sure you remember that the boy spent like 4 or 5 seasons in England. |
Ranchhoddas:What is this thing and why is it quoting me? ![]() |
Redeemed Christian Bank of God.

gj22:That is irrelevant to the discussion. Realism is not my complaint. This is a show that features dragons and sorcerers, faceless men and assasins made of smoke. At least two people have actually died and been brought back to life, so the fact that Sandor unrealistically survived his injuries is not a big deal to me. Your complaints hardly have a basis. The only just showed he is willing to change not that he has changed. This is just rude coming from a person I don't actually know. Considering how much time is compressed on the show, the mere fact that Reek began to even look like he could once again become Theon Greyjoy, simply after some words of encouragement and and a cup of Gulder is very irritating to me. This is a guy whose phallus was removed, who slept in a dingy kennel, who actually refused to be rescued by his sister, and who actually even gave up his legitimate claim to the ironborn throne. It doesn't make sense to me that such a person should suddenly be able to find his inner conviction at the bottom of cup of ale. That is drama for dramatic effect. Expect Theon to have an underserved big moment in the nearest future. It was already known that the hound wasn't dead. Ever heard of Cleagane bowl?Oh please! It was not 'already known that the hound wasn't dead'. He was never explicitly pronounced alive either in the book or in the show. Cleaganebowl as a theory doesn't even make sense with what has happened on the Show. The latest septon was murdered by the Brotherhood without Banners.Even If we assume that the Hound is on his way to take revenge, his path does not directly take him in conflict with the Lannisters or Cersei to be particular, as the BwB are established enemies of the Starks on the show!(And that does not even take into account for the ressurected Catelyn Stark as their new leader) Both brothers could very well meet and fight in a final showdown with everybody fighting everybody, but it would make no sense given the current story so far, other than to have the 2 brothers fight for dramatic effect. And also, he didn't die, how is it cheap that someone who isn't dead is still alive? It is cheap because he was portrayed to have died. GoT is generally gripping due to it's uncompromising approach to dispensing big characters with finality. Correct me if I'm wrong, but season 6 and the ending of S5 are the two seasons where the so called 'dead' are no longer dying anymore - The mountain, Jon Snow, and now The Hound. That's just cheap and provides an easy excuse to pull out a previously dead character to resolve a sticky plotline. I won't be surpised if Hodor rocks up next week, all cured, and now with some whitewalker magic. Rubbish, |
The show is just taking the piss now. Too many cheap tricks and 'get out of jail free ' cards. Bringing back the hound just seemed cheap. Making him born again is even more annoying. Theon has spent the last few years being broken by Ramsay. All of that bad work seems to be undone by just one cup of Stout. And how the hell is Arya still alive? Multiple stab wounds, they even twisted the blade inside, and she still managed to avoid drowning and is still roaming the street. I think we're beginning to see the TV-lisation of the plot. Got is becoming a soap opera. |
The last couple of days, Nihilist has been getting in the neck for suggesting Chambers as a good signing... Then I log in and see names like Wisser and Ben Arfa. The same Ben Arfa from Newcastle and Hull City? That Ben Arfa? Mehn how far na? Bigkesh I hail you sir. I salute you with both hands and both feet. Twale baba. |

chic2pimp:Robbie Fowler is having a shocker. I'll give Ollie Murs a pass cos hes a singer. That Dinho nutmeg sequence sweet me die, especially because it involved a Neville. I don't why i am always amused any time a Neville is in trouble. |
