Nigerians have never failed to disappoint me as a people. It all boils down to maladministration and corruption in NFF.
Super Eagles yet to be paid bonuses yet Pinnick is flying his cronies to England for 'capacity building'

Aminu shuiabu was failing when I was in primary school. I don finish uni, born pikin, marry and Aminu is still there...still failing

It became more realistic in PS2 when you still had to use the through pass to complete it ...meaning that one could abort the 1-2 if the player had strayed offside.

Ps2 sef get im own ojoro - zlatan ibrahimovic, Adriano, Rooney and all those "body-balanced" players for PES ... smh

Ibra na im worse pass - you fit see like 3 defenders dey escort am and dem no go still see ball collect for him leg!

I spent many Sunday mornings with my guys straight after three club smoking weed and tanning PES

The game mechanics were too easy to exploit back then. Most people played with finger permanently on the turbo button. You could literally waltz past players due to the limitations of the 8 direction turning axis.

Once they ran past you, it was difficult to change direction or double back. I remember beating some Konamis 6 or 7 to nil

Career wise Ameobi was not even better than Sodje.

How can you build a career where more than half your appearances were off the bench?

Haba.

300+ games and he didn't start up to half.

14 seasons as a striker only 50 goals

You apparently didnt watch Sodje I mean Efe sodje the Bandana wearing one. I am sure any random person can play better even Female footballer.

Sodje has no sense in his. If you notice his playing career were often in lower division. He played for over 10 clubs and none of those clubs has ever played Premier league in the past 20yrs. Its like useless recognize woeful Sodje and his clubs are a match made in heaven. He is currently 43 and still playing for macclesfield town

Sodje would just get the ball wait a few seconds and baloon the ball. I would be like what were you thinking? Not even Furo iyemeni, Jero Shakpore, Chikelue Iloanusi, Isaac Semitoje have been that useless

Ameobi used to play for Newcastle I watched many of his matches and he was average. Sodje is a curse.
But Sodje was loved by Nigerians and actually played relatively well, though still sheet. Cos I remember how people used to say his jazz was inside that do-rag.

Ameobi had like 50 goals in like 14 seasons at St James Park. That's how absolutely useless that bag of Beans was, especially when you consider that those seasons encompass a period in the championship

I think his brother is currently maintaining the Ameobi legacy of being Tall, Useless and on the fringes of the Newcastle team.

I heard he wants to play for England. grin which is very good
His delusion should keep him from inflicting himself on us.

I cant stress it enough, Bag of Beans is thr most useless feckless cluelesss foreign born to ever pull on the shirt.

The father name sef na Dominic Iorfa he played for Nigeria. I remember him for being a speedy player who runs faster than the ball most times

Honestly I can stand Shola Ameobi at least he played for Newcastle, that useless bandana wearing Sodje is the worst thing that happened to football
The two sodje's can never be as bad as Bag of Beans.

It was when I watched Nigeria live vs Scotland at Craven Cottage that I understood first hand how useless Ameobi was.

The guy is as tall as a Nepa Pole but did not win a single header. He would hold up the ball and then throw away the pass.

The absolute worst thing for me was how the fool kept walking into offside positions. He wasn't running at all, but the Scottish defenders had him so far offside sometimes...you will be wondering if the fool no get eye. And obviously he's too slow to recover. I think he had one shot all game. Clear chance volleyed straight at the keeper

That guy is the worst foreign born to pull on the shirt without question

Look at the alternatives. Egwueke and co? Spits.

The 3 players I mentioned are quality and just a matter of time before they are playing in the Prem.

Nigerias best defenders (Oboabona and Omeruo) are no higher than Championship level. Omeruo could not break into Middlesbrough team last year.

Compare and contrast with Odubajo (Championship best 11), Dominic Iorfa (Championship best 11 and wanted by many Prem clubs) and Jordan Obita (wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool before his injury).

You can see that these players are better than our first team defenders and all young players who are heading for the Prem, not like Sodje and Abbey who spent the bulk of their careers in League1 and League2.

Also if you are old enough you will know Dominic Iorfa is not some foreigner because his father played for Super Eagles. He is as much Nigerian as Alex Iwobi whose uncle is JayJay Okocha.

Also Danny Shittu was Naijas best defender when he played for Eagles. Its all about what alternatives there are and Danny was better than the alternatives. While Joseph Yobo used to dance Azonto when anyone ran at him from 2008 onward, Shittu was the one keeping it solid.
Wow I didn't know Dominic Iorfa's dad played for SE...

But I know Dominic fairly well from TV and FM2016. I think he was born and raised in the UK. He is definitely not 'Nigerian' and if he was good enough he would probably be playing for England

I understand your point though...and your position is very sound. It's just annoying that these short1 players only remember us when they want to use idea to get international cap.

As I'm typing this, I'm just seeing Shola Bag of Beans Ameobi in my minds eye and I feel like puking

Ibime if we look am well the British trained defenders have been some of the worst in Eagles. Some of them cant even control the ball.

Think of Abbey George, Danny Shittu, and the worst Nigerian footballer of all time Efe Sodje. God punish Onigbinde for allowing that useless maga wear Nigerian Jersey

The Nigerian trained can be very rash in tackle and lack ability to build play from back because of our local football training in Nigeria where its only wicked and mean people who play defence and their aim is to break legs

The criteria for being a defender in Nigeria from youth: You are big, You are dark, you are wicked, you have no skill to play other position, But you are so wicked they must always select you else you would beat everyone up. You can boot the ball very far away

I remember in secondary school one guy like that in defence he even had tribal marks and would tell you say he know say he cant make a career out of football because of tribal marks but he would ensure you dont have a football career as well. In every game he would break at least 2 legs you would see people crying and limping home
. (Ahh Ibrahim... E no go better for you ooo). I just learnt to avoid him and stay in offside position where he would forget me. After I score from that offside position na to run away from the field because he would still come and beat you for scoring
I swear I just dey laugh like fool for train...especially cos na so me sef dey defend grin grin

So what is the point og bringing up these names in 2016?
Efe Sodje and abbey George had short stints between 2000 and 2004. They had like 10-12 caps each.

Anichebe was born in Nigeria and has never really had a prolonged stay in the side due to injuries. Even Shittu was born in Nigeria and he's the only one on your list to have amassed enough number of games.
You are arguing purely for the sake of argument. I went back memory lane listing some of the foreign born/raised dross that have turned out in the green and white simply because they could never play for England.

My original post, when placed in it's proper context was a response to Ibime advocating callups for Dominic Iorfa, Jordan Obita and Moses Odubajo...who in my opinion are just more of the same type of foreign born/raised dross who can't make into the national teams of the countries they were born/raised in.
Sunday Mba? Really? Have you even being following up on this guy? wrongest decision to play for a league 2 french team and has not even progressed outside naija
Oboabona has been playing outside Nigeria for at least 2-3 years and is a regular who gets called up when he's not injured.
Egwueke, That one na defender?
Again you are missing the point. SE provided the springboard for these guys to launch their careers outside Nigeria and move to Europe. I think that we should be prioritising SE shirt to Nigerian league players where possible. Obviously foreign based talented players should be in the squad, but when it comes to picking from a pool of foreign shyt and Nigerian shyt, surely the Nigerian based shyt should get dibs, No?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Nihilist: 2:49pm On Mar 24, 2016
lalaboi:
Have we not moved on from Ameobi and co's? Which of the current foreign based attackers does not deserve to be called up?
Forward line - Ighalo, Iheanacho, Iwobi, Victor Moses, Moses Simon. These forwards are in form bar Simon Moses who isn't get much games in Gent but his reputation is known.
How many of the local based players/strikers have you personally watched and ascertained that they are good enough and should start ahead of the above mentioned. Name 1. When was the last time you even watched an NPFL game? Do you follow it week in week out? I seriously doubt!

The fact that the local eagles already failed at a local tournament means that they cannot be trusted at all!

!
Completely different argument....

I'm not arguing against foreign based players....I'm arguing against foreign born players...and to be more particular, the foreign born players that are too shyt to turn out for their countries of birth, and are using Nigeria as an escape route to International Football. Hence my examples were Abbey George, Danny Shittu, Shola Ameobi or Victor Anichebe....and not Victor Moses or Ighalo

Iwobi's call up is more of securing his long term services for Nigeria. Or you think England would not call him up for an international had he not played for Nigeria before and we were trying to poach him?. Look what they did to Agbonlahor and co. . Iwobi whether you like it or not with his less than 10games so far this season is worth the call. How many games did Obafemi martins play for inter before getting called up for international duty and beasting on his debut?
I most definitely don't think Iwobi is worth the callup. He's getting a run in the team merely because he just signed a new contract and Arsene is keeping him on side. Surely you must recognise that Iwobi is just the latest Incarnation of Wenger's Babes...The guy is not even that good sef.

Until our local league is on the same level as those playe din south africa/egypt and co, our local based players will not be good enough
Players who are regularly playing in the NFPL should be picked over the Bench Warmers. Efe sodje was born in England, lived in England and was warming the bench at a League 2 side when he first turned out for the SE.Sam Sodje was playing league 1 football. Na these type we suppose dey call up at the expense of local talent?

I'd rather pick the likes of Sunday Mba, Oboabona and Egwueke, expose their talent to the world, and help them to get a better life via Internationals than pick a Shola Ameobi who rode the bench his entire career, plays like a bag of beans, and was still playing for Nigeria at the World Cup even after being sacked from his club.

No matter how average the supposed 'foreign based' players are, MAJORITY are still better than what we have back home because they have been exposed to experience outside the shores and different types of tactics.
I disagree bro.

Ameobi and those names I mentioned previously were just as crap, they only got into the SE via this same prejudice.

You mean Iwobi that has probably played less than 10 games this season and only started 1 league game in his whole life deserves a call up?

If we're going to play crap players, at least let us play local crap and at least give them a chance to showcase what little talent they have

Justwise disguy why did you hide my post?
TravelRe: Why Nigerians Prefer To Live Abroad by Nihilist:
I think that Life Abroad is better because Nigerians just have no chill.

The last time I was in Nigeria two things happened to remind me of why I'm happy to live away from that country of opportunists

1. We just arrived at MMIA and we're queuing up to at the immigration/customs desk. One elderly woman went to cut in at the front of the queue ahead of a young guy man who obviously resisted. She started abusing him and asking if he couldn't see she was an elder, and that if she cut in, doesn't he have respect? Etc. I could see that she was holding a British Passport and I'm sure she knew that she couldn't try that BS in the country she just came from- Yet here she was, Iya Arugbo turned Gangster Mama...and she hadn't even officially checked in to the country yet!

No Chill.

2. I went to my local bank branch to aclimate my dormant account and apply for an ATM card. Whilst at the customer service desk, everybody refused to Queue and literally just surrounded the desk. Anybody who knows the former oceanic bank at Fagba railway would understand what I mean.
Anyway I stood there patiently, waiting for a gap in the human wall to open up so that I could at least be served, when the customer service advisor announced that the computer had stopped working and we would all have to wait for the IT technician to come from another branch to fix.
Being from an IT background myself, I offered to, and was able to identify the problem and actually got the issue fixed. Before I could even benefit from the fruit of my own labour, I was promptly chanced by an opportunistic woman who had clearly seen me fixing the damn machine. Other customers abused the woman, but she refused to back down. It was only when the customer advisor refused to serve her until she joined the back of the queue that she piped low.

No chill.

That's why I love living 'in abroad'

I really no get power for gragra

EDIT: the post was initially hidden by a mod for no reason at all. I had to post two queries asking why it was hidden. This post was then unhidden, whilst my queries were.. no explanation was given, no apology tendered.

Absolutely no chill at all.

I'd rather local players than foreign trash.

I was just saying to my guys how Super Eagles never get the quality foreign players.

Players like Alli, Ross Barkley, Ikechi Anya or even Femi Ibe.

Instead with get the turds of the foreign born battalion - The Aptly named Danny SHITtu, Abbey George and the entire Sodje dynasty. AMEOBI. Even Carl Ikeme that can't see regular shirt at Wolverhampton is our undisputed number 1.

Reading of the game happens off the ball. Camera follows the ball and doesn't show defensive actions of rhe ball relatively often

Also George Kruis was phenomenal. If they keep improving at this rate, they'll be the world's best Lock Pairing in no time.

Les Blues are easily the most unpredictable team in world rugby. One moment they are great, the next they are abysmal. I just don't know what's wrong with that team. Last saturday's performance was far and away their best performance in a six nation's game in 2-3 years. They simply run into a very determined and spirited team.

Nah Eddie Jones is the Xfactor. He is easily one of the greatest coaches Rugby union has ever seen. You seem to have forgotten how He transformed the wallabies in 2002/3. Not to mention the great work He did with Japan. For me He takes all the credit.
