I don't know why the mods put this thread on front page.... It has gone to the dogs...geez! Hopefully, it will move into the next page quickly and we can have some sanity here and resume mature discussions.Uchetobi, I've gotten a small lead for you...I spoke to her and she said she used the Methodist Hospital in Sugarland..I dont know if that would work for you since i think it's the one at Richmond you wanted. Anyway, the doctor she used was Nguyen Coung...His phone nos is 281-313-1193 and his e-mail is dr.nguyen@slwhc.com if you want to contact him.\ Either ways, you'll get a good doctor/hospital not too far from you that will suit your needs. Keep me posted on your plans sha. |
uchetobi: @nikkygal..amen, .thanks a lot. I am leaning towards WHMC because i have been unable to get a proper breakdown for methodistWell, I used Dr La... but it was because he was actually recommended to me by a close colleague of mine. Truth is it seems like everyone using WHMC these days is using Dr La and am beginning to think, isn't there any other alternative? Lol! But I guess most pple just use 'the same person their friend used' esp. since he's already familiar with the whole naija arrangement lol! Even though there are lots of gyneas with WHMC.Seriously though, you could use Dr La as I've not gotten any negative feedback from anyone yet about his services. As per doctors charges, I think it varies from doctor to doctor oh! The only thing is that most of them just try to benchmark against each other and try to charge within the same range so as not to price themselves out of the market esp.for regular medical services like maternity... I'll try to help ask a friend of mine that had her baby in methodist for her doctors name and pass on the info. What of your friend that used methodist as well? Any info from her? It's always good to compare notes oh.. so that you're sure you're getting a good deal.Let me know how far sha. Take it easy hun! |
@Babababy....congrats once again! Time indeed flies and funny how this whole episode is now over in just a jiffy...lol! Have a safe trip back to naija and best regards to the fam. uchetobi: Congrats RingofGod@Uchetobi have you made up your mind on your doctor or hospital? ie. WHMC or Methodist? Either ways, wishing you the very best and God's speed dear. Keep us posted. |
Godsbillionaire: Good Day House,@Godsbillionaire, just take your time and go through the thread.....particularly the last few pages (4-6) and you'll see a couple of people that recently had their babies in California and you can get more info.from their posts. Eg. Ring of God, Bigdaddy etc.. |
ringofGod: Hey house.. pls who has details for an agent where I can get my baby's nigerian visa??You can do it yourself babe.....you don't need an agent It's pretty easy and straightfoward! The list of documents required are on the nigerian emabssy website; so all you need to do is fill the form online, pay and send all the necessary docs to Atlanta. If you're pressed for time, pay for expedited service and also pay for 'express mail' using either UPS, Fedex etc and you'll get your son's visa circa 3-5days. That's what I did and it was quite easy. The only extra is I kept calling the Atlanta office to follow up...lol! I called them severally to make sure they had seen my docs, issued my visa & dropped off for courier to close out all gaps...I can't shout abeg.. ![]() You can also scan the docs to them... The good thing is that they pick up their phones at the nigerian consulate so you call them to get clarity on any issues you might have. I also couldn't be bothered with the wahala of travelling far (Dc, New york, Atl etc) to get a nigerian passport for the baby when I know I should be able to do that fairly easily in Nigeria. Hope this helps! |
jyde2014: Good afternoon all;@Jyde pls can you take your time to read through the thread A lot of the questions you're asking have been answered severally in the last few pages. No offence intended....just feel it's better for people to take time to read through the thread and ask questions thereafter so that fresh information is contantly shared and not just repititions. |
Can we please refrain from throwing subtle jabs at the OP. Let's give him our piece of advice and move on....No need casting aspersions despite his previous posts. It's not easy coming out here to seek possible solutions to issues talkless of now getting ridiculed or insulted on top of that for whatever reason. That's part of what discourages a lot of people from sharing their issues here....He without sin should cast the 1st stone... ![]() |
@OP, I think you've gotten very good advice here already... . . I'm also quite familiar with Akure and i know traffic is not an issue in that town, so i don't see why your little angel should be woken up at 4.30am. Since you're the one that bathes her & gets her ready for school, you can as well let her sleep till like 6am before you wake her to dress up for school. . .If doing that will affect your schedule of dropping your wife off at work every morning, then you can arrange a with a cab driver that can pick your wife from home every morning to work for a stipend (very do-able ). This is a sacrifice just to make that the little one gets enough rest daily....abeg that should be one of the little treats of living outside Lagos because i know most kids with working parents in Lagos wake up 4.30/5am daily...it's a normal thing for them.As par your 'no show', until your wife's stress is reduced, am sorry this issue might linger because she's just not in the right frame of mind to get down. You'll have to get creative and invest your time and efforts into more productive activities..an additional business or something that can generate more income for the family so that your wife can resign or at least take a more relaxing but less paying job. You sound like a good man and wanting the best for your family.....Please keep being focused and make good use of the advice here. I wish you & your family the best. |
This thread couldn't have come at a better time. I am also interested in getting updates from people that have subscribed into any of the Lekki Gardens schemes based on first hand information and not just from the aggressive adverts they've been doing. Am particularly concerned about the structural integrity of the houses - How structurally sound are their buildings considering the coastal terrain of that axis? How spacious is the house itself? With respect to the Kitchen, rooms, living rooms etc Do the houses have adequate parking space? How densely populated is the estate ? Knowing developers and how they love to maximise the land area to the very last bit, hope the houses are not too choked? or too close to each other? How long will it take to deliver the estate or the houses after payment? WHat of management of the estate post-delivery? I know my questions are soooo many and all the answers might not be available here but at least we'll appreictae answers from anyone who has an idea of any of them. Like amywonda said, some of these factors will be a big determinant in decideing whether to just buy a land separately and build to your own taste to avoid developer wahala. |

*Subscribing* Good stuff! Pickabeau.....please keep updating. I need apps that will keep my kids busy and educative at the same time ![]() |
kenkelewu: I think Babababy said it all. U cant be turned back for wilful misrepresentation of a material fact, or fraudulently obtaining visa. However, it's better to be truthful if you are asked about your intention, so you don't deprive yourself of further renewals. In addition, I don't think you should disguise and at the same tme, dont flaunt your pregnancy. Do your homework and be prepared to prove you can pay your bills: enough cash and debit/credit card and also that you won't overstay your visa. The most important question is : "what is the purpose of your trip?". Your response will make or mar your intention. If your husband is going with you, the better for you cos it creates some kind of shield.@Kenkelewu....Could you please give more details on your 'houston experience' at the POE? This will go a long way in helping undecided peeps in making a decision. As the Nos.1 entry point for peeps going to Elpaso is Houston....and it is noted for having cheaper hospitals compared to other cities. |
Waow....Congrats Diamondring!!! This is indeed a big testimony after 9years...God is good! Just had to go back to her previous posts to scan for what she's been doing differently.....God bless honiepie!!! Babababy: @tteam,I felt really sad reading about your experience, keep calm and look on the positive, most things in life are usually for a reason. I have to commend your courage in sharing your story, and you still manage to give advise, well done and God bless. @nikkygal, the British immigration officers are even more over zealous than the Yanky ones, even though you are transiting, those low lives will happily send back pregnant women, and most times it is the Indians, and all those other migrant British people that feel the urge to be nasty. If you can put your house in order from the word go, and follow this lovely forum from page one, traveling direct is still the best option for pregnant women. I agree with you on the overzealous british immigration officers part on returning pregnant women......Though my point was that I do stop over flights as a regular thing whether pregnant or not. My birthing trip to the US was on AF via paris....no time for heathrow wahala abeg! Let everyone do their due dilligence properly right from the point of applying for the visa and be straight forward with declaring your intentions at the embassy. For me sha, about 90% of the cases I've heard recently about 'returned' pregnant women at the POE were Atlanta / Houston direct flights from LOS on Delta or Continental. I even know of someone that was 'returned' at the Houston POE on her next trip to the US after having had her baby like 15months earlier.....She wasn't pregnant but because she didn't have the receipts (she forgot them) showing payment of her hospital bills for the delivery of her child. Abeg let everyone take heed and be very prepared...Tteam pele dear...**hugs** |
Double post |
@tteam Am so sorry about your experience. I've heard quite a couple of horrible stories about the houston POE of recent...pele babes! Thank God you & the baby are fine. I agree with Uchetobi on first-timers 'clock in' their visas at least once on a seperate trip before they go for birthing because of these over-zealous immigration officers. Also, my travel policy into the US from time has always been to avoid direct flights from lagos to the US because of the stereotyping and un-necessary disregard for the green pali. . . **na kuku naija pple cause am** I always fly either AF,LH or BA....in anticipation that the expected scrutiny will at least be more objective and less prejudiced. Considering that the flight is orginating from the transit point with a mixed bunch of people from different nationalities. Also, once I dis-embark, I move straight to the 'ladies' to touch up my face so I can look considerably ok after such a long haul flight. . . .Also try to dress well and disguise your preggy state so that even when you're showing, it doesn't look like you're 'popping' the next minute... Wish everyone a safe delivery. |
jidegirl12: Are you for real right now?? * shudders****Madam jyde na typo oh** I wanted to write 'agbero' and I hope you know I was being sarcastic? ![]() Bottomline is women need to get with the program on all these un-necessary my bosoms are bigger than yours mentality. It reeks of a strong sense of insecurity and jealousy. Am out of this thread! |
Funny enough, someone used the "I have two boys and you have 1 boy only" line on my mom during a misunderstanding. She always laugh everytime she remembers that.
You can imagine such 'mumuism' ![]() |
uchetobi: I'm married, the unmarried ones are envying meGbam!!! +1000 I just tire for all these women. . . . There's no competition in this life because it's not a winner takes all situation. So because you married early your mates are jealous or becaude you have kids, then they are envious? Come-freaking-on!!! These women need to get over themselves already! There are lots of women who even though are married with kids have other things going for them. It's people like you that make women who are still TTC feel worthless and want to commit suicide because you use every opportunity to humiliate & oppress 'waiting' women! On the flip side, a lot of them suffer huge inferiority complex when they're in the midst of working class upwardly mobile women who are at the top of their game in their career. . . We kuku dey see plenty of them **shior** Abeg live and let live!!! Let everyone make their choices. Women need to drop this 'Marriage is the apex' mentality and stop being so competitive about kids, spouses ..they are God's gifts so take it as a privilege to be in that position. . Nuff respect for women still waiting on the Lord for Kids and their Mr Right. . . From your mouth to God's ears...**Amen** Dolly-P, Baybe & Wu-zetian.....good job! |
OMG!!! This is extremely sad. . . . I can just imagine how devastated his parents & his family would be coupled with the fact that he's their only child. I've run into him a couple of times at the Oyin Jolayemi outlet but the last time i saw him around Oniru, i still marvelled at his size. . . .he definitely needed to lose some weight as he was clearly obese. May God grant his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. It is indeed a tragedy and life-changing event in the Adedayo family. Sleep on Olubunmi and may your soul rest in peace. . . . .Sincere condolences to your wife and kids. |
My sunday lunch today. . . . Rice, Fresh fish & mixed veggies. . . :d |
