Tfinal:Oh dear! I'm so sorry and this must be so distressing for you. You see this men ehn, a lot of them are users. Once they see that their wife gathers assets, they become greedy and want to sit on it. Are you still in the marriage? I salute your courage and I believe as a strong hardworking woman to have hustled to acquire all these, God will reward you in multiple folds. The mindset and focus you have is still in place for you to do and achieve even more. Success is the best revenge! How does a woman remain happy in this type of marriage when the husband has 'kolobi-ed' all his wife's assets? And I'm sure he will still be lying to his family members and 3rd parties that he owns it. Just face your children and keep yourself happy. Buy new properties in your name and your kids and make sure he doesn't see your 1 Naira again. Stay strong..... |
Tfinal:So how did you resolve this? Is your name on the land documents at all? Or is it only his name? What of the supermarket? How have you been able to manage it going forward with him claiming it as his? |
I understand your situation and I can imagine how difficult it is in this current inflationary economy. If you're unable to convince your wife not to have the baby, take drastic actions to cut costs and save for the coming baby. E.g If it's possible to move your wife and kids to the village for a while pending when you're able to get job or more sustainable income, then do it. So you can save on house rent and move from your current house to a much cheaper house. Also let your wife know she'll be shouldering a good part of the household costs for now till things improve. Your family being away from you temporarily will also give you space/time to run around and hustle for opportunities till things stabilize. I wish you the very best. |
djon78:You make very valid points however, how are these men also treating their wives during this their 'broke'/wilderness season? A lot of them become very controlling, over sensitive and always ready for a fight over nothing. They can hardly create a peaceful atmosphere at home and would always pick up fights with their wives because they feel they're being disrespected over small inconsequential stuff. A man's ego is very fragile during this period, and unfortunately the average woman is already over stressed taking care of the home and now pressured to take care of the finances too. Most of the men belittle their wife's efforts during this phase, and she feels unappreciated and overworked which makes tempers flare and causes friction in the home. Men should also be more appreciative and manage their egos during this time. They should communicate more and make the home peaceful and conducive for their wives. At least even if you're unable to provide, support her and make her feel appreciated and valued. Women are not wired to be the providers especially for long periods of time. Men are mostly not willing to step in to do more on the domestic front during this time as they feel they're being disrespected because of their financial situation. So it's a tight rope to walk and it should be managed delicately with understanding from both parties. |
Airdrophunter:Baba no vex...lol! The thing with men is that you guys are very difficult and controlling when you're broke. You become overtly sensitive to everything the woman does at home and your need for 'more respect' is through the roof. Any simple discussion becomes a fight because you feel the woman is disrespecting due to your financial situation. It's frustrating! The implication of this overtly sensitive & controlling attitude is that, the woman feels unappreciated for all her efforts in picking up the slack on the home finances. She's unable to express herself because the tension at home is high, while she's also under pressure to manage the home and spend all her money to pay rent, school fees, feeding, utilities etc. So as time goes on, the resentment builds up because the average Naija man would still use ego and coconut head to make the home unbearable even when he's not contributing zilch. How long can a woman cope in that type of environment? At least if a man is not dropping money, make the home peaceful and conducive. Bes supportive and appreciative of your wife's efforts in closing the gaps for you. I'm sure if I ask your wife now, she will have a different version of what actually happened. I pray you find space in your heart to forgive her and reconcile especially for the sake of your children. I'm sure you have both learned your lessons and will come back stronger if you remain committed to work on it. |
Airdrophunter:So don't you think you're cutting off your nose to spite your face here? I mean you don't mind damaging the psyche and emotional stability of your children just because you want to teach your wife a lesson? Is your wife willing to reconcile? Is she remorseful or apologetic about any of her past actions? I'll say, you should give it a deep thought if she's wanting to work things out with you. It's obvious you're being vindictive and you need to chill because you might win the battle but lose the war ultimately if you're not careful. Kids are very sensitive and disagreements between parents affects the kids a lot more than you can imagine. I believe you should let your love for your kids override that inner selfish ego trip to 'show your wife pepper'. If there's a possibility for reconciliation, please reconsider it. However in the absence of a reconciliation, ensure you manage things cordial with your ex-wife so as to limit the effect of the separation on the kids. |

For all the folks asking about the Telegram IW group, the details on how to be added was already stated like 3/4 pages back. Please take time out to read the thread. Just search on Telegram for the group name US Visa IW (Nigeria) and join the group. I know it was made private at some point but I think it's been changed back to public. Hope this helps. |
kiwistrawberry:I believe since you're an F1 student, you should get priority in terms of open dates. Have you already tried scheduling an IW appointment and you can't get a date? F1 appointments are usually expedited or given priority so I believe you shouldn't be in the same category as the B1/B2 folks. If you still can't get a date, just pick any available date then apply for expedited appointment with your I-20, school ID & results validating your status and they'll open up closer dates for you to choose from. |
kinkos:You need to call the US Embassy call centre for them to change your profile back to Nigeria. It can only be done by them from the back-end. If you try to create another profile, the system is very likely to detect because of your full name and passport number so it won't allow. |
Transporter52:Please could you send me the link as well? I'm trying to book an appointment for a family member who no longer qualifies for IW. Thanks. |
ekpotek:I sincerely hope this isn't the case as some Lagos folks were forced to choose the Abuja appointments when there weren't available dates in Lagos. Currently, Abuja appointments are back-logged into 2023. So hopefully, they announce IW for Abuja as well very soon since it covers both B & F categories of visa. |
Chiall:Thanks! I've got family members that qualify for IW and their appointments are later in the year, so I'll let them know about this. Do you have an idea if this applies to Abuja appointments as well? Or is it only for Lagos? |
Dampops:Thank you so much. |
7031646386:Please can you paste the full contents of the mail you received from the embassy here? Feel free to remove your personal details. There is a lot of speculation around the interview waiver process and a lot of people are itching to know what's the status and how to go about it. Thanks. |
Femotech123:Congrats! Please can you share the email address you used to contact the Abuja embassy? |
Ray2018:Congrats! Please when did you apply for the Abuja EA? |

Well done Jarus! You've indeed done very well embarking on all these projects within a relatively short span of time. If you don't mind sharing an estimate of how much you've spent on the duplex so far. It's interesting to see the progress made when you compare the picture you posted end of February and now. I'm also an avid believer in the use of projects to tie down money. Good job! |
Zhuhilat:I feel your pain and I know how frustrating it can be when you feel so helpless with an irrational spouse. However, midnighter and ecolime are on to something and have asked you some pertinent questions, which you're yet to answer. Your marriage is still young and I believe these are still part of the teething problems, even though I see that your husband's ego & anger issues are at work here. I think answering their questions might shed more light into the reason for husband's attitude. Is it stemmed from an inferiority complex? Does he have certain reservations about your family? What kind of background or family structure is he from? Does he see your background or parents as intrusive & maybe disrespecting his actions? These answers might help in providing solutions in how to better deal with him going forward. One thing I would say is try to refrain from getting into arguments or wanting to have the last word with him. Also does he have any older person apart from his parents that he respects a lot & looks up to? That you can possibly discuss with? |
In other words, anything news about Nigeria from abroad now is synonymous with fraud? This is just nauseating! I haven't read the detailed report yet but it's evident that our image as a country is now almost irreparable with the incessant damaging news about our fraudulent activities. It would be really difficult to attract any form of foreign direct investment (FDI) to Nigeria around this time. Funny how it's cutting across every single facet of our country. We're only now renowned for Drug trafficking, wire fraud, and financial misappropriation in both corporate & government institutions. What a shame! |
This list is blood curdling haba! Does it mean Nigerians don't have any other job abroad now than crime and fraud? How can this number of people be involved, and yet they've not even finished their arrests? This is such a huge disgrace. This country is on a downward spiral...geez! Look at their nicknames: 'Thank you Jesus, 'Pastor Ken', Son of God etc. Bunch of fraudsters constantly making things more difficult for legit folks like us...Awon adojutini gbogbo... Please lock them up & throw away the keys... lalasticlala Mynd44 |
@MurphyInc Thanks a lot for sorting me out and resolving all my issues promptly without even seeing me in almost 2 years! I appreciate your service and particularly love the fact that you've remained consistent, despite the remote conversations over the years since I've come in contact with you. I'll solidly recommend you to anyone, and even my husband is really impressed. P.S - This is an unsolicited review. I'm just glad that he's proven to be reliable, honest and consistent which is quite a rare trait in service providers today. |
babyfaiz:Again, I'm speaking of what I know and instances that I'm 100% sure of. None of my own people ever used medicaid!!!! I never mentioned medicaid in my post either. I made references to adjustments and discounts and where the hospital later took out the discounts, and allowed them pay the balance. I recognise that hospitals are different and some might not accept further payments once you've been discharged, but it's outlandish to now make that blanket statement that it's impossible! I would only speak in instances I'm very sure of that has played out by being a witness to. As a matter of fact, I'll be going to follow up for a close relative on one of such instances at a hospital next week as the conversation has been initiated already. America is huge and hospital policies differ. Medicaid is a totally different ball game and I've also heard that you can't refund medicaid, but I remember a few years ago on this thread someone said she found a way around it...I can't remember the details anymore. I won't be quick to calling anyone a liar, especially since not all circumstances are the same and people will always tell you the version that they want you to know. Anyway, believe whatever you want. I'm done with the banter & will go back to silent mode. Enjoy. |
justwise:I know of people who decided to sue the US consulate in the last few months because of this issue and I'm speaking emphatically. I will only say what I know but I won't divulge more than that. They were denied visas based on the same reasons of the bills too low, with discounts even as a self-pay patient, even though of course it's not stated on the pink letter. The visas that were now denied were working visas based on overseas transfers etc and that has led to lawsuits being filed. You don't have to believe me, I'm just a spectator & I've said that my piece. No further comments. Enjoy. |
cugwuanigbo:I'll advise you to calm down and stop sounding desperate, as it would becloud your ability to make sound judgements. If the November trip is that important, I'll suggest you quickly contact the hospital where you had your baby and request for the itemized bill. You can then request to pay the full value of the bill without the discount adjustments. That way, you'll be paying the 100% hospital bill without any discounts or waivers earlier granted as a cash paying patient. The payment receipts can then be tendered at your next interview, and hopefully you'll be granted your visa. I know people who recently did this and have gotten their visas renewed. They paid between $7k to $14k in addition to their previous bills based on the revised unadjusted invoice, and they got their visas. From recent reports I got from people who got their visas renewed/denied, the visa officers might not even tell you outrightly that they're denying you on the basis of a low hospital bill, to avoid lawsuits even though we know that's what they're doing. You just can't keep doing the same thing (applying for the visa) without changing strategies and expecting a different result. You'll probably get denied, as they'll see you as desperate and will ask you what has changed between your last application and now. Be very strategic about your next interview, so as not to ruin your future chances in the long run. All the best... |
MurphyInc:No worries! Thanks for getting in touch. I appreciate it and sorry about everything once again. Cheers! |
MurphyInc:Baba, how far with my job now? We had an agreement for last weekend to install those kids games & software and you just went AWOL. None of your numbers are going through, even your whatsapp is off. That's not how to do business haba! Please buzz me on whatsapp or call the number I gave you and respond to this message. The kids want to use the computer to enjoy their games. Thanks. |
lexy2014:Thanks for this comment. I was just about to respond to him that he might actually have a point about pilots relying so much on technology, but this issue goes way beyond that. Didn't you read articles online where they said details about the MCAS and the turning off the autoplilot when the plane went into a nosedive wasn't even in the manual? Did you read that the manual for the plane was really flimsy and didn't contain a lot of the additional details that were required to operate the plane? Did you read that Boeing told their customers there was no need to re-train their pilots on the use of the 737 MAX despite the fact that there had been significant changes to the operations / architecture of the plane? All because they were trying to reduce cost for the airlines while maximizing their own sales too.. Are you more experienced than all the airmen that had previously complained about all these issues across the US & beyond? What of the engine placement issue which is the major factor that affected the plane's center of gravity initially? That was what necessitated the MCAS, and can a software totally resolve a design issue? I recognise that there could be skill gaps between the pilots in the 3rd world or developing countries vs. those in the 1st world but please cut these guys some slack!!! No one wants to die and these guys are trying their best and improving their skills as well. It's easy to be keypad warriors and analysing stuff from your desks, but you don't know better than the aviation experts and other experienced pilots who have had 1st-hand experience with this planes and recommend further investigation. |

[quote author=behati post=53576104]Good day house, been a silent reader but hope to participate from now. I just got ITA and will be sharing my timelines below. ECA- Nov. 2016: this was very fast as I submitted scanned copies of transcript and degree certificates, paid international courier fee to have WES send verification letter to my school via courier. Had someone who assisted with the verification in less than 5 days of the school receiving it. Everything took about one month. Hello Behati...Does this mean that once I have a hard or scanned copy of my transcript, I can send it to WES and they can in turn verify it's authenticity from the school? So I don't need to get another fresh copy of the transcript from the school again that will have to be sent to WES? Anyone else can also please answer my question....As i have copies of my transcript in hand that i had used previously for other stuffs and i was already contemplating re-starting the transcript application process again for WES Canada.... Thanks. |
