Hello Fibbycbk, you've got really lovely designs here I must confess.

I'm quite impressed with your work. Can you please give me a design for a 4-bedroom duplex with 2 flats of 2-bedroom on a plot of about 540sqm?

Thanks.

You can now imagine how this despicable character called Ifeanyi Ubah who has already been rejected by his village people and his kinsmen will now want turn Lagos to his personal ATM via Jimi Agbaje.

A well known crook, fraudulent business man with court cases everywhere and debtors haranguing him all over, now wanting to now use the Lagos TAN/PDP platform to extend his perfidy to Lagos.

E no go work!!! He should stick his crooked and 419 antics to to he the East where he can still reign as a god.

Lagos is NOT no man's land' and it will never be!!!

Nice one! I'm fully in sync with this article, too much over parenting these days in Nigeria. No child can fully develop without taking risks, making mistakes or starting small. Let's encourage our kids to 'fail forward' and not be too timid to explore opportunities without the parents support. It's the only way you can have a fully rounded child equipped with all the necessary tools of a leader.

However, this article was not written by the OP. Please post your source, as I can remember i've read this story here on NL over 3years ago. Please don't take credit for another person's work.

** Let me check the NL archives, if I can still find the original article**

Jarus:
Average of between 30-35% turnout everywhere.

Let's now wait and see how two regions will come and claim 70% turnout
As in ehn! Have you seen Akpabio's acclaimed results for his senatorial district? It shows like 97% turnout and about 93% of that was in his favour.

I'm not saying Akpabio will not win his senatorial district, even a blind man knows that he's indisputably the leading light in that zone. But those numbers they're flagging? Kai! There is something definitely fishy about it.

Other states of equal strength have recorded total voter participation of between 400-600k across board = about 60% on the average. Yet our 'bros' here dey give us 'Ogede' of 97% turnout in just 1 senatorial district.

I bow for these PDP SS/SE guys. They are indeed miracle workers!
PoliticsRe: Where Is Otueke Result? by nikkygal(f): 8:04am On Mar 30, 2015
Bayelsa, the least populated state in Nigeria and yet no results in at least 1 LGA. Isn't that a mystery? We're not saying APC will win Bayelsa, lai-lai! But at least for transparency & credibility of the process, the results should gradually be at least 70% released by now.

If results of states like Ogun, Edo, Kogi are almost completed. Why have states like Bayelsa, Cross River, Ebonyi etc still being shrouded in secrecy? This honestly gives one cause for concern.

The longer it takes to release the results, the more vulnerable they are to fraud & manipulation. Ekiti's results were released in 24hours & neither Bayelsa, Ebonyi or Cross river are bigger than Ekiti.

It's such a big shame!!!
PoliticsRe: Southeast Results Under Arrest By Orders From Above. by nikkygal(f): 6:40am On Mar 30, 2015
Isn't it a mystery that even densely populated states like Kano, Lagos, Oyo have released at least 50-60% of their results, yet small states like Bayelsa (the least populated state in Nigeria) or Ebonyi do not even have ANY released result yet?

This is 48hrs after the election and you'll expect states like Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Abia & Cross river should have released a sizeable portion of their results Haba!!!

The results from Ekiti state is very commendable - Turnaround time of about 24hrs and Bayelsa or Ebonyi are not larger than Ekiti (I stand to be corrected)huh

We all know that the longer it takes to release the result, the more vulnerable it is to fraud & manipulation. This is condemnable and a very big threat to our democracy. I think INEC in future elections should develop a more structured framework around counting, vetting & announcement of results. 48hours is more than enough for results to be announced in at least 50/60% LGA across the country.

Iyawo, it will be nice to share your visa experience on this thread, you don't necessarily have to divulge the full gist if you don't want to...However, the idea is just for people to learn from your experience.

At least if nothing at all, you were a regular on this thread at some point, asking questions and learning from others. It will be nice to give back to that system, that's what this thread has essentially thrived on. If everyone decides to keep quiet, get their visas & do their runs codedly, then this thread would have died a natural death & all this info won't be available smiley...Pls I hope you don't take offence...It's just an observation....smiley.

FamilyRe: What Happens When The Wife Earns More? . by nikkygal(f): 5:49am On Aug 30, 2014
Been there done that! When I met my hubby, I was already earning more than 3 times his salary...but one of the things that attracted me to him was the fact that he was very secure and never felt threatened by that. As a matter if fact, he seemed very proud of my achievements at such a young age and always handy to provide advice or support ...I married him particularly because of that singular trait amongst others because I had seen many other guys that were either just intimidated or just wanted a complementary meal ticket...

Fastforward a few yrs later, the Mr resigned from his job and moved into business like he's always wanted from time. I was scared initially of what the future held, however, I put in a good chunk of my savings there, prayed hard and now story has changed..Even with my increased income, my guy is 'doing almost twice' of mine and controlling so much that it all seems surreal.

My inlaws initially were wary of our marriage and thought I might be bossy & domineering, I guess they now know better.... Of course my MIL is now particularly glad since her son's levels have changed now and she can now brag about so much....lol! But it's all good even though I & the hubby know the "koko" of our story...cheesy
These days, we just plan the finances together and make sure we remain transparent and united even in executing our plans. He always thanks me for believing in him and actually 'investing' in his dream. Honestly, I appreciate him more because I know the kind of marital issues a lot of my female colleagues face at home due to their superior earning power. As a lot of your actions are mis-construed easily to mean that you're bragging because you're the one paying the major bills.

I'll say it's tough for women earning more than their spouses because more often not, men have the tendency to get easily intimidated by their spouses. For men that see money as a control tool, the marriage will remain turbulent as the woman will always be seen as threatening the husband's position as the head.
Some wives have also attempted severally to help their spouses financially, but they just squander all the money on frivolities. That's one of the things that makes women buy properties in secret and make under-G investments so as to secure her future with the kids..It's a catch22 situation for women...ko easy rara!

I even forgot that part.....she think say she sharp....lol! Yankee local flights wey na just 1bag....Anything beyond that, na OYO oh...you'll pay dearly for it..cheesy By the time you even calculate the cost, hassle etc, you'll realise it's not worth it.

nefertitiram: Ahhhh, nobody beats an alaroro like me.

I'd rather fly to New York (max. 214k) then take a domestic flight (US airways, american airlines, Jet Blue, return to el paso is 66k and to phoenix is 55k , I just checked on www.dohop.com).

If you have not booked your tickets yet, consider flying to Atlanta or NY then buy a domestic ticket at the airport. wink and save some cash!

Compare ticket prices on online agent platforms (not the airlines directly) then get the domestic ticket price on www.dohop.com, thank me later.
You make a good point however, combining local flights with your international flights might not be as smooth as you think. If you are a sole traveller going on a vaction, that's fine...I've done that quite a number of times in the US to save money as well wink But when you're a preggy traveller, it could be quite hectic doing that and your return trip will be crazy!!!! Carrying baby, bags, possibly even switching airports (depending on the state) will make you so wasted ehn, you'll regret it.... The only other option is to possibly stay over in New york (or the primary stop) over night or for a few days before connecting to your base and do same on your return to reduce the hassle.

Please do ijebu when you're alone not when you're stressed with a baby and have quite a bit of stuff. That's why it's even advisable not to have too many connections on your flight so as not to stress you out all in a bid to save some money...People that fly Emirate or Etihad sef know how far....lol! Houston is far and i can't remember paying less than about 260k ever for any of my LAG-IAH flights in the last few years.

HealthRe: Ebola: Lagos Govt Identifies 59 Contacts With dead Liberian Victim by nikkygal(f): 5:29am On Jul 29, 2014
I think we should commend the Lagos State Government on the concerted efforts they've taken to enlighten, combat and control this virus since the news of the Ebola outbreak. This is how all facets of our governance should be handled, where we don't have to be reactive and always 'lagging' when decisive action needs to be taken quickly to save lives.

I'm particularly impressed about the contact register they have & how quickly they set up a dragnet to identify all the people that have come in contact with the Liberian and also tested them. Kudos should also be given to the Federal Ministry of health for their support....at least even though they all waited for the virus to get here first, but at least they seem to have quickly set up a seemingly befitting means of combating the spread.

Good stuff! Hopefully, we'll have no more Ebola incidences in Nigeria.
HealthRe: Ebola: Lagos Govt Identifies 59 Contacts With dead Liberian Victim by nikkygal(f): 5:27am On Jul 29, 2014
A more comprehensive version of the story from PM News...

Nigeria Ambassador to Liberia, Chigozie Obi-Nnadozie and 58 others have contact with, Patrick Sawyer, the victim of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, who died in Lagos last Thursday, says the Lagos State Government.
At a news conference on Monday 27 July at the Lagos State Government Secretariat in Alausa, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, Lagos Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris disclosed that 59 people had contact with the late Sawyer, which include the Nigerian Ambassador to Laberia.
“So far, a total of 59 contacts have been registered consisting 44 hospital contacts (38 healthcare workers and six laboratory staff) and 15 Airport contacts, comprising 3 ECOWAS staff-driver, Liaison, and Protocol officer, Nigerian Ambassador to Monrovia, two nursing staff and five Airport passenger handlers.
“As of the time of this report, 20 contacts had been physically screened of which 50% are type 1 contact and 50% had had type 2 contact. Airline manifest has not been provided by the airline at the time of this report and therefore the precise number of passenger contacts is yet to be ascertained, especially as two flights were involved (Monrovia-Lome and Lome-Lagos),” he disclosed.
On case management, infection prevention and control, Idris said an isolation ward had been designated by the Lagos State Ministry of Health at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba for case management, adding that the designation of three other health facilities was underway.
“A total of 100 Personal Protective Equipment, PPE, were procured by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC and the Federal Ministry of Health, FMOH have been distributed to the private hospital and the State Ministry of Health. WHO also donated 250 PPEs to the NCDC/FMOH.
“Adhering strictly to WHO guidelines, the body of the deceased patient was decontaminated using 10% sodium hypochlorite and cremated, with the permission of the government of Liberia. A cremation urn has been prepared for dispatch to the family. The vehicle that conveyed the remains was also fully decontaminated,” he stated.
According to Idris, government could categorically state that as of today only one case of imported Ebola and one death had been recorded in Lagos, saying that no Nigerian had been infected, but that all contacts were being actively followed.
“We call on all Nigerians to be calm and not panic and do hereby assure them that both the State and Federal Governments are up in arms to ensure that the virus did not escape and that no Nigeria is infected with this virus,” he assured.
He said preliminary laboratory investigation conducted by the NCDC AI virology laboratory of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and the World-Bank Funded African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID) Redeemers’ University, detected viral DNA and that in both blood and urine samples obtained from the patient were positive for the Pan Filo virus analysis and Ebola Zaire MGB virus strain- specific analysis, adding that samples were also collected for further confirmation at the WHO Collaborating laboratory for Ebola in Dakar.
On the 40-year old Liberian vidtim, Idris said he arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos from Monrovia via Lome on Asky Airline Flight No KP50, on his way to Calabar for the 8th ECOWAS Retreat of Heads of Offices meeting, as a senior ECOWAS official in Liberia.
He stated that his plane was reported to have had a brief stop in Accra and Lome, and the aircraft was changed at Lome, explaining that he was also reported to have fallen ill while on board and remained very ill on arrival at the airport in Lagos as he was then assisted by various airport and ECOWAS protocol staff to a private hospital named First Consultant Medical Centre, Obalende, in Lagos.
“An initial diagnosis of suspected Viral Haemorrhagic fever was made. He was admitted and investigations were carried and supportive treatment was commenced. The private hospital immediately notified the State Ministry of Health who also notified the Federal Ministry of Health. The patient however died at about 6.50am on the 25th July 2014,” he explained.
Idris disclosed that the Joint Federal and State Team on the basis of all experiences gathered from the response to this outbreak recommended to mobilize funding for response activities, logistics and supplies; train and orientate health staff on the Ebola outbreak response Standards Operating Procedures and supply laboratory diagnostic supplies or activate the mobile VHF laboratory.
Other recommendations, he said, were to provide adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), organize psychosocial support and provide incentives to health personnel involved in Ebola outbreak response, design key messages in the local language and intensify public enlightenment in the local languages and involve the community in response activities.

kpofkpof: Thank you Dear. The reason why i want to do the surgery abroad is beacuse of the technology they use. This robotics thing that reducing adhesion. Because accorrding to my Gynaecologist here in Lagos, he said the position of the largest fibroid is bad, it is sitting on the tubes and kind of blocking it and if they touch it, it will lead to scar tissues which will cause more problems.

Please can you ask your friend where the surgery was done and how much was involved.

Im currently discussing with St John's Health Centre and their bill is on the high side because i dont have insurance.

please help me find out.

Thank you
I'll try to help you find out...I hope they'll give me the details sha because you know people can be funny! However, I'll still advise you talk to other hospitals that accept self-paying patients like Del Sol (El paso), WHMC, MIHS etc. They support international patients in other medical fields, not necessarily birthing only...I remember that even the WHMC website has the prices for some of these other services for self-paying patients.

Send a mail to these hospitals as they are used to International patients and are still fairly priced...To the best of my knowledge these hospitals are good and should be able to handle your case.

I'll let you know if i get any further details from her.

kpofkpof: I havent tried it. Because of the severity of this case, i have decided to get it all out and quickly conceive by God's Grace. Age is not on my side and that of my husband.

Most people say this herbs dont work and even if they do, they may take a longer time.

However, i will look up Kedi prducts on the net.

Thank you.
I can imagine how you feel about this. I have about 3 very good friends in the US that had fibroid challenges and conceived an average of about 3-6months after the surgery. Having said that, i 've also heard that the kedi product is quite effective for fibroids too....but i only read that on NL sha so i can't testify to it personally.

If you have the means and can afford to go abroad for the surgery, if all else fails, then please don't hesitate...A close friend's sister had her fibroid surgery in the US just a few months ago...hers was really bad, they removed like 14 balls of growth from her uterus.. And i'm aware there's a certain type of technology (robotics) they use in doing this to avoid scarring the uterus (adhesions)..so as not to that create conception problems post-surgery.

I wish you the very best...

uchetobi: It excludes hospital which is about $2,500 for whmc.

Dr la is the most expensive dr in whmc. Go to their website and contact other doctors with admission privileges at the hospital. The others average $2,000 to $2,500 for what dr la charges $4,000

There are other hospitals/ drs in Houston you can also consider like oakbend, Methodist, etc
I agree! I don't understand the basis for Dr La's sharp increase in price....I guess he's now made enough money from Nigerian women , so he's become choosy. I'll advice anyone looking to use WHMC to check out other gyneas there as you could pay as low as $1800 sef.

@Uchetobi, hope you're good? Kisses to the baby...

Waoh! This is a really tough call.....Am honestly so touched...*Big hugs my dear**

favored gal: Aw...this your plight tugged at my heart.
Pls dont ask your husband to quit his job, the reality of the matter is that an unemployed / stay at home husband will cause more complications for you as it. That is the honest truth!
Secondly, if you find a creche near your office that you can afford will they let you take your baby on the staff bus? If you leave home at 4:30 what time do you now wake up, isnt that too early for the baby? You can consider bathing him at night though, so you can just change him in the morning and be on your way
Thirdly, your accomodation situation with a room and palor is already sorta cramped for you and your husband and a baby so getting a live in maid may not be too easy!
Can your work hours be flexible (resume later) for the main time, till you get this sorted? Be bold enough to ask your bosses, you never can tell, they might just be sympathetic
Try and explore all options of creche around you, i know lekki isnt cheap but leave all the popular ones and check for the coded ones, you can ask your coworkers for tips , also try the elegunshi one someone suggested
What of your mum's sisters or your MIL sisters, ask around for relatives who may be in the villa, some waiting for addmission, waiting idly to marry, wanting to learn work, etc. Again you never can tell
If all options has been exhausted without success you may need to quit your job and face a usiness or find something closer to the house.
I hope help comes for you soonest! Hugs*
I will want to agree with the post above especially the the bolded parts.....Try to negotiatiate some flexibility in your resumption time (based on your current situation....appeal to them) and search deeper in the lekki axis for a creche that is within your budget (some coded ones).

My dear...i understand what you're going through and i know this is really tough one as your choices are really limited. Your best bet would have actually being either your mum or MIL even if it means the baby being with them during the weekdays.....Or a creche close to your house..but you leave home really early so that won't work as well.

I pray you're able to get a live-in nanny or a creche close to your office for now as that will at least work for you in the interim but honestly, i doubt if it's sustainable considering your current condition...Going forward, please look for a better job! One either closer to your house for convenience or a job with a higher paying salary that can open you up to more choices..

I wish you the very best....God bless your LO!

debola23: Hallos good people,
Finally I get to the end of this thread. Been reading from page 1 and honestly I have gained so much Info regarding where to give birth and now I am torn between MIHS, WHMC and ofcourse the highly spoken about Doctores Para Ti.
I had my first baby in DCMH, Delaware County Memorial Hospital Delaware which is a hospital somewhere in philadelphia. The DCMH is just an imitation of the state and not the state so don't be confused. It was 3500 for both doctors and Hopsital fees, although ultrasound, pediatrician and blood work bills came seperately, there were all discounted (can't remember the percentage now) but I didnt pay up to 5000 for the whole process.

There is another hospital called Lankenau Medical Centre also in philly area. i know the hospital fees for uncomplicated womanly delivery is 1000$ and CS is 1300$. I am yet to contact a doctor to see what the doctors fees will be like but will do so once I get into the states.
Just thought I should share since I didn't see any info on people going to give birth around that area Philadelphia, PA. I wouldnt want to go back there because the relatives i have there are not so nice and I wouldnt like to go thru the same treatment especially now that I have a daughter who is very active. I preffer to stay on my own therefore I am looking for other options just have not made up my mind yet on which.

Now my question is, when I was going to have my first child, at the POE in Atlanta, Even though i was quite heavy, I told the CBP i was coming for shopping and she granted me six months no question. From the many refusals I have read on this forum, I am scared on what I would meet at the POE this time incase they ask me why I didnt say if i was going to have a baby the last time I came in. Truly I did a lot of shopping , even bought an SUV from there and a lot of baby items that i shipped in with the car. I have some receipts and pictures to show for that. Can you guys suggest to me how best to answer this question?

Already bought a ticket for Jan 18 and going with husband and daughter. Pls your suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks

C-Section - Additonal $500

Hospital Cost - $2600 for vaginal delivery (includes mum, and well baby for up to 48 hrs after delivery). Additional days will be charged at $1500 per day.
C-Section - $4150 (includes mum, and well baby for up to 72 hrs after delivery). Additional days will be charged at $1500 per day.

Epidural (optional ) - $1500

So total is $4,600 without epidural and $6,100 with epidural.
Nice! This is a fantastic deal...That's why I keep telling people to seek out new information because there's always something better out there...you only need to 'unlock' it....smiley

This looks a lot better than WHMC cos it is cheaper and more importantly closer to the house....that convenience is a big plus in a city without a good transport system like Houston. I suspect it's a catholic hospital....I've noticed they're cheaper probably for humanitarian reasaons....

At least now you can relax and just look forward to your departure...All the best dear and do keep in touch...smiley
PropertiesRe: Has Anyone Here Purchase A House From Lekki Garden(very Urgent) by nikkygal(f): 9:18pm On Dec 11, 2013
Hello Famack...any update on your decision yet?

A couple of my colleagues and my boss went to Lekki Gardens last week on a 1st hand assessment to check out the place before also making an investment decision. To be honest with you, they came back with a lot of un-impressive things about the quality of work currently carried out in their estates. They visited phase 1,2 & 4...the phase 2 is where there is currently a lot of work going on & it was massively sand-filled at over 7ft according to what was said.

A lot of the complaints stem from water channeling issues...lack of drainage in some key areas, putting box-like septic tanks in each house without proper planning how this will be channeled...so you could emptying your soak-away every month becos the water table there is high & all your used water is collected in that small 'box'....even some of the slabs that serve as drainage covers around the fence of the estate have collapsed! In some of the houses, the floor inside is lower than the road..sad etc.
...So how can you vouch for the structural integrity of the houses when you can even see such material lapseshuh

Honestly, am not a paid agent of anyone before NL'ers will come & say am de-marketing them. This was a personal assessment by a group of my colleagues who happen to be civil & mechanical engineers. As a result of their judgement, I've opted out oh!!!

I'll advise you to please go & examine their estates very well & assess their quality of work independently before putting your money...God save us from these developers...
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by nikkygal(f): 8:56pm On Dec 11, 2013
uchetobi: Nikky, I have emailed the dr. below is his pricing:

Our fee is $2500 for a vaginal delivery, $3000 for a C Section. There is an additional $500 fee for those with high risk pregnancies.

The hospital fee is $3500 - $5000 depending on what you required and how early you register.

The anesthesia fee if needed is about $1500.

in comparism with dr la/ WHMC

Physician cost is cheaper @WHMC as it is $2,500 constant, regardless of cs or high risk
WHMC is cheaper as hospital is $2,500 - $4,000 for vag or cs
Anesthesia @WHMC is cheaper at $1,200 too

WHMC is winning for me jare
@Uchetobi I see your point oh.....I guess you might have no choice than to settle for WHMC since they are obviously cheaper. My wahala with quite a nos of our naija peeps is that they like to hoard information. Am sure there are people that have used Methodist recently like your 'friend' and have relevant info regarding discounts/doctors etc but they won't just share **SMH** Because I heard Methodist too is fairly cheap....anyway, I'll advise you stick to Dr La/Whmc for now...

@Papadebaby Wish you the very best! Thank God mother & child are fine...that's the most important thing...There's always a next time....smiley

@Solidhomes & omowhummy Congrats on your entry...wishing you a safe delivery! It was a good thing solidhomes didn't mention 'birthing' @ Poe since she didn't mention it initially when she got the visa...:hardemijuh..good job on that one...you 'coached' her well....lol!

Wishing everyone the very best.....
FamilyRe: How Long Does Your Cooking Gas Last. by nikkygal(f): 2:43am On Dec 07, 2013
You might need to call a gas technician to take a look at your whole gas cooker & cylinder set-up.....he should be able to identify where the fault is coming from.....Please act fast oh....Gas leakage is extremely dangerous!!!

There's just no way you can exhaust a 12.5kg cylinder of gas in 5days....haba! Na restaurant you dey run? Lol!
