PoliticsRe: Atiku Will Easily Beat Tinubu In 2023 by nku5: 5:24pm On Aug 12, 2020
Oracleforce:
Atiku will be disappointed again....since he can cry....his cry continues after 2023...because Tinubu will defeat him grandiosely...Tinubu just need one popular Hausa-Fulani as his deputy...
Then the game will be balance....
That's Tinubu's dilemma. He can't run on a muslim/muslim ticket. He's looking for a christian middlebelter from as far north as possible. Dogara fits the role but he is lightweight infact flyweight compared to Atiku
PoliticsRe: Atiku Will Easily Beat Tinubu In 2023 by nku5: 10:38am On Aug 12, 2020
kingzizzy:
If in 2023, it is Bola Tinubu(APC) vs Atiku Abubakar(PDP) in the Presidential race, Atiku will beat Tinubu easily. In the South of Nigeria, Tinubu is practically a nobody outside his native SW geopolitical zone. The SE/SS have always been traditionally PDP voters and are likely to carry on that pattern in 2023. No gain saying that most Igbos dont even like Tinubu, who will have to choose his running mate from the North. Atiku is most likely to pick his running mate from either the SE or SS area(maybe Peter Obi once again). Atiku will take the SE/SS zones while Tinubu will take the SW zone

This will leave the North as battle ground and kingmaker. With Buhari leaving for good, many Northerners who still want power to reside in the North will no longer see any point in voting APC. When you add the fact that Atiku Abubakar has far more political muscle in the North than Tinubu, you realise he will do very well there. The North will naturally gravitate towards one of their own and Atiku will politically bury Tinubu in the North.

If in 2023, APC fields Tinubu and PDP fields Atiku, Atiku will defeat Tinubu with a landslide victory
This permutation is being kind. Tinubu won't risk the disgrace if Atiku gets the PDP ticket

UGEP — ON Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 25, 1975, soldiers from 8 Battalion, Nigerian Army, stationed at Ugep, launched a retaliatory attack on the countryside community located about 100 kilometres from Calabar over alleged killing of a soldier by unidentified persons. At the end of the operation, over 100 villagers, 300 houses and property worth millions of Naira were destroyed in what has become known as the 1975 Ugep Massacre, an incident which has remained a watershed in the professed largest West African native town.

Defective motive

The soldiers, according to Sebastine Eko, a journalist from the area, acted on the conviction that Ugep indigenes were responsible for the death of a soldier whose remains they found in the town. However, a post mortem conducted by military doctors in the Barracks later revealed that the man was drunk and had an epileptic seizure. The soldier swallowed his own sputum in the success and choked himself to death.

Many fled the community that night and became refugees in surrounding villages following the soldiers’ invasion, effectively putting an end to any celebration of Christmas that year by the people of Ugep. “Ugep people could not celebrate Christmas that year because they were forced to abandon their homes, which were razed down, most people who could not escape were killed and lots of property destroyed,” Eko told Niger Delta Voice.

Never-ending cry

It was 40 years ago that the unforgettable horror took place last Thursday, December 24, and the people marked it with rendition of songs, photographic displays and poetry recitations.

Traditional rulers, women, youth, academics, politicians from the Ugep community along with their friends and well wishers from across the country and in the Diaspora gathered at the Obol Ubi Confrence Centre with some weeping openly when they beheld the pictures and images of their loved ones massacred during the attack by the soldiers.

Edo may not be Lagos, but the governorship and the incumbent political status quo Godwin Obaseki is currently enjoying was strategically planned in Lagos, sponsored from Lagos and it took the shape and the image of what Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivered. Igbo elite are backstabbing leeches and Igbo masses know this. Nobody takes them seriously or really cares about the useless "Igbo president" hustle they are touting up and down.

PoliticsRe: The Psychology Of Anti Tinubu Hysteria by nku5: 8:29am On Aug 09, 2020
omenka:
Good evening.

This piece is written in response to:

1. They unrelenting attack on the person of Bola Tinubu by PDP supporters.

2. The anti-Tinubu's opinion thread that made it to the front page earlier.

I'll be as brief as possible because there's a football match to catch.

Without a doubt, most Nigerians are already looking forward to 2023 and politicians and their strategists are already laying landmines for those they imagine would constitute the greatest stumbling block to the realization of their aspirations. To this end, PDP, even though they have yet to give the slightest hint of their flag bearer, has deployed their supporters and surrogates to initiate a relentless barrage of attacks on whom they suspect would be flying the APC's banner- Tinubu.

Nowhere is this more evident than on Nairaland.

There's a problem with this strategy and it has everything to so with human psychology.

Before the advent of the current political jousting, the Yorubas, not surprisingly, weren't as pro-Tinubu as we see them today- at least, not online. This is because they tend not to be as politically intransigent as other ethnicities in Nigeria. They couldn't care less about the intermittent jabs the man suffers, mostly from Yorubas themselves! Today, the story is totally different, no thanks to the endless attacks on his person by not only PDP supporters, but people they (Yorubas) consider OUTSIDERS.

What we are witnessing is a herd resistance to what the Yorubas consider an attack, not only on Tinubu, but on Yoruba interests. As long as the attacks aren't coming from WITHIN, the collective defence being put up for Tinubu should be expected, the staunchest of which, ironically, would come from folks who were once totally indifferent about Tinubu or whatsoever fate he suffers.

Look at it this way: when IPOB attacked Senator Ike Ekweremadu in Germany, it appeared as though most Igbos endorsed the action, with some saying Igbos are not fond of tolerating errant politicians of Igbo extraction. They applauded the perpetrators and scornfully mocked the victim. But, the moment OUTSIDERS attempted to mock and "insult" the same Ekweremadu, they were rebuffed by the same people that had mocked and insulted him!!

The counter productivity of this strategy should be obvious to PDP and her supporters by now. The more you attack and scorn Tinubu, the more Yorubas would push back, and the more the man tends to grow in popularity. I'm not sure these attacks has turned any pro-Tinubu observer to an anti-Tinubu one, but I am VERY SURE it has turned some indifferent observers into his staunch supporters.

I've no doubt in my mind we all desire a better and prosperous Nigeria, let's try and go about it the right way. Unwittingly making a hero of someone you consider a devious villain would hardly help your course. Review your strategy PDP.

God bless Nigeria.

wirinet:
Now grab a dictionary or Google and search for the meanings and differences between a Federation and a Republic.

The Governors will now be appointees of the head of the military government instead of elected by the regional electorate.

This decree removed all administrative powers from the regions and concentrated it at the centre.
Also remember, General Ironsi had already promulgated the Constitution (Suspension and Modification) Decree, which suspended the Republican constitution of 1963. So I wonder which sharing formula and resource control you guys are talking about that Ironsi left intact.
Show me where the decree where Ironsi expunged resource control. I am not interested in your biased opinion. I need facts

If we are examining dictionary definitions then Nigeria is not a Federation today in fiscal terms. The regional military governors could not be elected (of course) and had powers to make laws (edicts) for their enclaves subject to approval. The best Nigeria ever had in a military government.

Its sad but there's nothing anybody can do about it. They will come for the rail infrastructure in the SW, Murtala Muhammad Airport, Apapa Ports and other profitable ventures they can seize. Unless Nigeria is ready for war with China, it is Buhari or his successor that will make sure that anybody resisting the takeover will be dealt with by the army.

It's also a ploy by the north to make sure that the SW never secedes. China will offer military support to crush any militancy or secessionist movement that tries to rise up.
