emmanuelewumi: Not a good reason for the premature termination of a Treasury Bill Investment.
Nigerians don't have the staying power. A lady bought 7 years Sukuk, only for her to terminate it under a year because she urgently money. The problem is that people just hear about the investment and will not do a detailed investigation on it but will just go and pack all their funds into it. For TBs, they quickly look at the upfront interest without taking into consideration of the fact that the fund will be locked down for that duration. I was always doing one year TB in August/September and it was strictly for the payment of my kids September school fees in boarding house and for one year rent. |

Just like I advised a young man whose bro is in the fast lane in SA when the bro sent him 30M to keep because he was coming home in a year plus for building purpose. And he wanted to make something out of it .I took him to FBN and he got 15% for 364 days. The young man has not stopped thanking me because the amount he got and the upfront thing. He channelled iit nto his new biz which the bro gave him #5m to start too.He keep thanking because he has never hard of it and how easy it went through being a graduate. You see why she can support rubbish about the thread I do not really follow the stock market thread here because of the way it is structured. In SMN, every stock had its own thread which made it easier to follow the discussions unlike what obtains in the stock market thread here where all stocks are discussed in one thread. Do not really know why Seun Osewa discarded SMN when he bought it. |

Please what % of N689,000 is N81,000? 10,000 units at the unit price of N68.60 comes to N68.60 x 10,000 = N686,000 and not N689,000. |

How do you meet such tenant? Arbitration? What's was the ruling of this arbitration? Is arbitration a court?
Such tenant will never pay, from experience.
Avoid the following tenants - Contractors (They keep expecting millions from contracts that never happened, telling you how they know Sanwo-Olu and how his yet to pay for the road in Ikorodu or supplies they made to Alausa that are yet to be paid for)
- Business men (don't even make the mistake at all, before he says, "I am a bus....man", just tell him straight up, you don't give out your houses to business men, they are never truthful, mess up the house, give false information, bring more than the specified number of occupants the house can occupy)
- Pastors (it's a constant battle with them, telling church members that you are the reason for his lack of success, and when it time to pay, he tell you stories, that God will do a miracle. I would have mentioned churches but I'll let it pass)
- Lawyers (On no account should you lease to them)
- Artists ( You will spend more than the money you collected for damages and rent to put the house to a good taste, my property I lease to Asa in Surulere, I spent 950k to put the apartment in order before the current occupant could stay there)
In addition, ensure whoever you rent out the house to, their wives MUST be working. I learnt that here. If you remove all these categories of people, who is left to rent to?. With the high unemployment in the country, how many people are actually gainfully employed?. |

For instance, i have noticed that Zenith bank share price usually drops after they pay dividend for the outgoing year.?
Looking forward to your contributions please. Once dividend is paid, the price is usually adjusted downwards for that amount of dividend paid. If a bonus is given, the price will also be adjusted downwards for that portion of the bonus. See the link below for information on bonus shares and its calculation. https://www.cfajournal.org/calculate-share-price-after-bonus-issue/ |

50 years from now, the internal combustion engine will still be prevalen in most parts of Africa. Gbam. People are buying 2001 Toyota Corrola and doing thanksgiving on it and somebody is saying electric cars will replace fuel cars. It might replace in Europe and US but not in Africa. People are still struggling to pay high electric tariff in Africa just to put on bulbs and fans. Is it charging of electric car they will use such for?. Closing down fuel car production plants might be a big opportunity for such to be moved to Africa. |

I wonder why those that want to import cannot team up to build a refinery?. BUA is singly building one. So i wonder how Dangote wants to be the sole importer. NNPC also has refineries. If the importers cannot build, they should lobby for the privatisation of the current refineries and buy them off NNPC. |

I am tired my friend. We are drunning round and round too much. I follow your argument quite alright and i understand it. I do not agree with you that people should be allowed an open field to import. We need to develop the country and create employment for our teeming youthful population. I have kids growing up here. Where you want them to work?. As US and Canada cannot contain all our teeming youths, we need to keep the majority of them here and get them engaged. Giving our scarce dollars to people just to import fuel thereby creating employment in other countries does not cut it for me. it is even a shame that we sell crude oil and then import fuel. It is like a cassava farmer selling cassava and perpetually buying garri with the proceeds from those he sold the cassava to. Where i come from, such a farmer will be the butt of jokes in any gathering. You want to import fuel, then build a refinery even if na 1,000 barrels. I support Dangote proposal 100%. Btw, you saw what happened in US during the pandemic where people were queueing and fighting over common tissue paper. That is a result of allowing everybody and everything to be imported. |

ositadima1: My Brother, Dangote refinery will not stop importation of refined products. They know that na, that is why they are proposing limiting imports to only "refinery owners". Let's not be going in circles.
My beef is why should it be only refinery owners, they even want it to be proportional to the size of d refinery output effectively putting him in charge. Why do they want to corner the whole space to themselves? Those with refinery licenses should at least go and build 5,000 barrels refinery and then join the fuel import train. If we have 20 of such 5,000 barrels refinery owners importing, they will collectively give Dangote a run for his money. |

ositadima1: Even USA with d second highest number of refineries in d world imports refined petroleum products. You can check that.
Like I said before, d market will re-balance itself. If Dangote and other refineries can sell cheaper d other importers will be forced to downsize, in a situation where Dangotes sell higher dan attainable the imported will ramp up. It is a normal natural process. Nigeria is a developing country while US is a developed country. Btw, did US start by allowing everybody to be importing fuel?. I hope you know that the US owns the dollar that is being used for the import. If we can import with the Naira, why not in allowing everybody to import. Me too go join the fuel import gang with my Naira. |

The worst is that monopolies can gain political powers and the ability to shape society in an undemocratic way. It is already happening. Import with Naira or with which dollars?. Donbrig: @ahiboilandgas, thanks for educating ositadima1 on this issue. I don't really know how to argue with people, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, we all want the best for Nigeria.
We should also understand that oil and gas with new refineries are not the only sector that can improve our economy. There are several sectors that are yet to be tapped into, particularly agriculture and metalic minerals like, gold, silver, tin, copper, lead, zinc, iron, nickel, chromium and aluminum.
Nigeria could earn more billions of dollars from these metalic minerals if we can harness them judiciously. Nigerians complaining now will not go into the metalic materials sector now. If Dangote finishes with the refinery now and moves into that sector, people will now jump out and be shouting about Dangote taking over the sector. Orient petroleum was given a refinery license decades ago. After the foundation laying with so much funfair, nothing else happened. I support the Dangote proposal of 'no refinery, no license to import'. MBA collected N170B from people. Wetin him take am do?. Live flashy lifestyle. Where are all those that collected huge sum from subsidy scam?. They should use the subsidy scam money to build a 5,000 barrel refinery. The various petroleum marketing unions should form an SPV and build a refinery for their members. That is how competition is done. The space is open and big enough for every player. Enough of this continous bashing of Dangote. |
